I used the Realm of the Fellnight Queen during RRR, as I wanted to give my Kingmaker game a solid Fey presence. My players loved it! I didn't run it as is, the players basically started with Part Two: Dying Dryad, who just happen to be Tiressia from early on in Book Two. It helped to pull the players in and feel that something was "messin' with their Fey Friends." It also let me flesh out more NPCs that are barely mentioned in RRR. Also, my players loved the Drunken Treant, who I renamed to Mossbeard. I really played him up to the Cleric of Erastil, was a hoot! Highly recommend RotFW!!!
After a quick search I wasn't able to find an answer to my question. So here goes: Can the Leadership feat be taken more than once? My group and I are wrapping up book 3 of Carrion Crown and I was getting bored with my Cleric of Sarenrae just pump healing and channelling to dust undead. So I took the Leadership feat so I could play a cohort bard/fighter/dervish to get in on some melee action. Enjoying combat much more. Anyways, so we just hit 9th level and I was wondering if Leadership can be taken again for another cohort? I didn't see anything in the feat that didn't say you couldn't, but thought I'd ask before I even bother approaching my GM. Thanks! ~Flash
So our group is gearing up for WotR here in about a week. Since it seems to be heavily hinted at in the PG that there be a Paladin, and no one else has offered in our group, I'll be taking on the role of a Paladin of Iomedae. It's been a few years, so I'm actually looking forward to playing one again. That being said, as I understand it from the PG, I hear there might be a chance of some demon/devil folks popping up in this AP. ;-) So I'm thematically interested in the Sacred Shield/Guardian combo for obvious reasons. In reading the "Heroes of the Fifth Crusade" thread (I try to stay away from the spoiler threads), obviously a ton of Paladins in there. Here's my question for all of you who've played through this AP with Paladins (or not too!): Do you believe some fights might have been lost if the Paladin didn't have the Smite ability to bypass DR? (and yes, I understand that APs aren't designed around one specific class ability, merely curious to hear some opinions/experiences) ~Flash
Ah. Thought you were replying to Turin as well. Heh. Yeah, we'll see how the rest of Book 2 goes. The GM has hinted that our PCs might think about hiring a hit point bag/meat shield. I've rolled up a dwarf "tank" fighter for hire, but I think our egos are preventing us from pulling the trigger. We are all veteran players and pride ourselves on playing smartly. That being said, we've had two near TPKs. One against the "spider" at the beginning of Book 2 and one against a bunch of undead while investigating the third trial day (I'm trying not to spoil anything, but if you've played through book 2, I'm sure you know the fights I'm talking about). Our next session is at Vorstag's.
Our group is halfway through The Trial. The party consists of: Til Gamwich Male Halfling Rogue 6
We've had some trouble with this AP, as we really don't have a tank or great melee fighters. Since most of our opponents have been undead up to this point, channeling has saved our bacon many a battles.
I'm also a fan of the dwarven fighter. I present Gunther Grimmhammer. 20pt Dwarven Phalanx Fighter. Currently 5th level (if that's low enough for ya). Warning: He's pretty much useless outside combat. ;-) My strategy: Punish with reach and AoO, whip out Axe for close combat.
I probably should have been a bit more specific. Putting the details under spoiler alert for the Carrion Crown AP. Spoiler: Here is my Cleric of Sarenrae in our CC AP game. She's built to dish the damage to undead and be able to talk her way out if needed as well (too bad she can't use her headband and Touch of Glory during the trials we found out). Divia the Hallowed
So we got lucky, or unlucky depending on how you look at it, and killed Brother Swarm after only encountering one of the spawns. Now we have a few more full blow wraiths to deal with now that the spawns are full blown wraiths. Unfortunately the fight with Brother Swarm wiped out all of my defensive spells (shield of faith and prot from evil). As he still managed to tag me twice dealing 8 CON damage!!! We've got plenty of Lesser Resto gear, so not worried about that, but was just thinking about how stay "untouchable". Mostly from a spell point of view if possible. Just wondering if I'm missing any spells for next time.
+1 for the Spinal Tap reference! ;-) Quote: This campaign was the first test-bed for hi-bred play. I had one player on the eastern side of Canada, one player in southern California and the remaining three in the room with me in northern California. I wanted to develop a system of playing that utilized technology to assist playing the conventional method, not replace it. Three years and five ongoing campaigns later, I think we were successful. So what system/technology did you use Azmyth?

This thread is full of awesome! I give it two thumbs up, a +1, a Like and one Flash Knuckle Bump. My Kingmaker game just started RRR and this exactly the kind of political "fluff" and "day in the life of" that I was looking to add to my game. My players LOVE this kind of roleplaying goodies. Please don't stop Solspiral!!! Will be building on your WINNING. ;-)
Name: Happs Bydon
The Gory Details: In my game, my players have very much min/maxed their characters, and since there are 5 PCs with my Witch NPC as a #6, I ramped up the game using the 6 PC recommendations. Not wanting to spoiler this event, my PC were very ready and described in great detail their plans for when the bandits showed up. Because of their great planning and attention to details, I decided to give the PCs a round of surprise on the bandits. The Cleric of Erastil wins initiative, pops up from his hidey spot and shoots Happs while he is still lazily sitting on his horse giving orders, flat footed. Player rolls a natural 20. (Which in my game I have house ruled is an auto crit) Players rolls a 7 on his longbow damage. x3 is 21 points of damage. Which is more than enough to send Happs into negative HPs. I hang my head in shame as the major NPC for this encounter has just bit it. My players by this time are hooting, hollering, high fiving and dancing around the room. My players laughed about this for a good while until they encountered the Moon Radish patch. Where I proceeded to roll 3 natural 20s!!! If it hadn't of been for the Cleric, it was almost a TPK. Good times with the AP!
Is it possible the now vampire PC and GM were hoping for some awesome RPing? Two of my GMs I play with would have pulled these type of shenanigans with our groups. But mostly for the awesome and fun RPing that would have ensued. There would have been some fun RPing posturing from our Pallys against said Vamp PCs, but then there would have been the "How do we save a friend's PC from this Vamp curse?" Then there would have been lotsa adventuring/RPing around said curse. The GMs wouldn't have made it easy for us, and the Pally most likely would have suffered some sort of crisis of faith, but it we would have at least tried to save our friend. Maybe it's just that our group is different. I guess we trust our GMs to not totally screw us over unless we do something obviously dumb. Just my 2cps.

Yes, I meant 5' step. So timing movement between spell and attacks appears to be king with the Magus. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Ok. So tell me if I am correct in my understanding then: Assuming I am at least a 2nd level Magus (thus having Spell Combat and Spellstrike). Could I cast Shocking Grasp, move 5', putting me adjacent to my enemy, and take the Shock and Melee attacks (with the -2 on both)?
Trying to wrap my brain fully around the Magus. Let's say I cast Shocking Grasp using Spellstrike and I use my handy dandy scimitar to deliver the spell. I understand I'm delivering the touch spell via weapon, but this is where it gets confusing for me. Am I rolling versus my opponents normal AC (because it's now a melee attack) or am I rolling versus their Touch AC (because it's considered a melee touch attack now)?

Dear Sayer of Nay, If you are still reading this thread... My answer would be that the Monk is a melee maneuvers specialist at its core. And a truly awesome melee support class. In our PF game, my Monk has earned the nickname of Monk Blanket. He literally drapes himself all over our enemies when damage just isn't enough to get the job done. The Barbarian and Rogue pretty much thank me every session for making their jobs easier. Love the Monk! Hope that helps. Good luck. |
