What’s the best way to maximize natural attack damage output? I’m using the shapeshift druid variant; so I don’t think there is much I can do, but thought I’d check around. I will say my DM is randomly deciding some equipment works and some doesn’t…go figure. So feel free to list items that may help. I thought I'd made a heavy hitter, but with this new group and the liberal giving of magic items I'm lagging...Thank God for Improved Trip...Any ideas? Fizz
Hey guys long time no see. I've finally been talked into getting back in the game after a year and a half hiatus. I've created a deity for my CN barbarian/druid (shapeshift variant) that I'll be playing, but I'm looking for some opinions, ideas, and a name for my four legged savior of choice. I've basically mixed Norse mythology of Fenrir with a ice and winter wolf motif that's less about eating the sun, killing Odin, and ending the world and more about hunting and eating everything else. Side note: sorry about all the alias names being used. I hope it doesn't cause confusion just can't think of a name and got tired of typing The Winter Wolf over and over. Name: Ideas or suggestions? Just no Fenris or Fenrir. Doesn't have to be Nordic at all just something cool. Alias: The Winter Wolf, The Artic Wolf, Killing Perfection, Icing Death. Alignment: Chaotic Evil. -I thought about Neutral Evil since with the wolf theme there seems to be a type of pack structure to his followers. Thoughts?- Domains: Animal, Destruction, Winter or Water, Strength or Spite. -Water seems like the core version of winter, but there is a winter domain. Spite seems like a more evil, chaotic, and less war based version of the strength domain. Any thoughts?- Symbol: Two large curving fangs of blue ice over lapping to form a crescent moon. Weapon: Winter's Bite: +5 Keen Frost Brand/Bite. -Thought about adding vicious?- Worshipers: Barbarians, Druids, Lycanthropes, Hunters, Artic Dwellers, Winter Wolves, Wolves, Intelligent Beast. Ideology: The Winter Wolf is as cruel and unforgiving as his artic home, knowing that there is no place for comfort or rest The Winter Wolf strives to expand his followers and kingdom to encompasses all living creatures. He believes that the universe, the world, and life itself is a hunt were everything is prey. The strong and smart survive all others with be destroyed or used. Goals: Icing Death's main goal is to ensure he then his followers are the top predator, and to ensure he can continue hunting and killing with abandonment. In order to archive this he promotes the expansion of his artic domain. Temples: The Artic Wolf's temples are usually just hunting and war lodges. However these lodges aren't only occupied by his human followers, but are also littered with winter wolves, wolves, and other canine devotees. All temples have an alter with some symbol of Icing Death. These symbols are usually the fur of a winter wolf, a giant skull of a dire wolf, or a masterfully crafted great sword. Enemies: The Winter Wolf views dragons as one of the few creature that could topple him from the top of the food chain because of this respect he promotes the slaughter of all dragons. This ideology has provoked both the ire of Bahamut and Tiamat. -I wanted him to fear something. I wanted that something to be bestial in form. However even in D&D not much is going to scare a giant god ice wolf, but there's a reason this game is Dungeons and DRAGONS.- Apperances: Icying Death usually appears in one of two forms. His first avatar is that of a giantic winter wolf of truely astonding size, with eyes of ice, and bellowing blue liquid gas coming from his mouth with every movement and word. Icing Deaths second form is that of a tall regal looking barbarian with eyes of ice, long white hair, dress in white furs and a dragon hide breastplate. He is also weilding Winter's Bite a frost brand made of blue ice (Frostburn: ice that's as hard as iron that takes forge level heat to melt.) -I felt he needed a humaniod form to relate to human followers.- Thanks Fizz
I stumbled on to a base class at Giant in the Playground forums based on clowns. I think it's great class and that the created of it did a great job. I'm think of playing it in an up coming game. I was hoping people could look it over for balance. I think it may tip a bit overpowered but not by much. Go to The Clown. My main concern is that the face paint may be too powerful, but I'm trying to keep in mind you can only have 1 and it does cut into you wealth by level I suppose. All help appreciated And congrats to Keinnicht for this amazing class Fizz
I've recently pulled out Magic of Incarnum, and I am now looking for some general opinions. I get the gist of Magic of Incarnum, and I think it has some really interesting material(if not alot of poorly named things). Can someone give me a general break down of the book?
Any other comments, suggestions, opinions, or thoughts? Fizz
Does anyone know of if there is a stated out moonblade in a forgotten realms book. I thought I had seen one, but I've looked though all the ones I have and can't find it. I've found several references to them, and how they are each different so does anyone have any ideas about the abilities for a moonblade for a rogue/sorcerer? Maybe a legacy item? Working on an idea. Thanks Fizz
Hey all been awhile… Haven’t done much gaming lately, but recently someone begged me to play due to her not knowing the rules or character creation, plus being too embarrassed to get help from the group she’s going to play in. Anyway, I wrote a character background and rolled up my character. I’m playing a barbarian, theme wise he’s a bastard child between Tarzan, Frank Frazetta, and Last of the Mohicans with an ultimate hunter attitude. This all adds up to the beast lord class in The Quintessential Barbarian which I really like, think normal barbarian with more of a Tarzan panache. I was planning straight barbarian then beast lord to the end. Then someone suggest: “Why don’t you add ranger?” Valid I guess, hunter ranger could work point taken. Then someone suggested: “Why don’t you take fist of the forest PrC then go beast lord?” I’ve never heard of fist of the forest, and that would make me have 4 classes 2 base 2 PrC. This all irritated me due to the degree of laziness I wanted in my character: barbarian, beast barbarian, done. This got me to thinking which lead me back the Paizo message boards then too Tequila’s thread (thanks Tequila). Assuming that multi-classing and prestige classes are just part of the game and will be there; where do you draw the line? 2 bases classes and 1 prestige class? 2 and 2? Unlimited? Theme appropriate? Generally how much multi-classing is too much in your game? Nice to be back Fizz
Looking for some advice on two PrC for a sorcerer, and I think I’ve narrowed it down to Fiend-Blooded or Blood Magus.
Fiend-Blooded (Heroes of Horror)
You get stat boosting Str Dex Int Cha, fiendish familiar, an expanded spell list of spells know in fire, illusion, enchantment, and necromantic schools, and some type of weak smiting. D4, poor BAB, and you lose a level of casting Blood Magus (Complete Arcane)
Boost spells via blood, increase concentration checks via blood, scribe scrolls on skin, brew potions in your blood, increased con, homunculus familiar, weak damage reduction, force blood out of people’s bodies, and teleport via blood/bodies causing death to said bodies. D6, poor BAB, and you lose two levels of casting. Any ideas or suggestions we are still very early on level 2, but I’m trying to plan ahead and weave as much of my story into my character as possible? Fizz
I'm thinking about playing with a new group of people. I'm not sure yet, but thought I'd go ahead and write up a character story for the fun of it and plan him out. I'm planning to go into the Dragon Disciple PrC. I have drafted a few stories:
Yeah I know not the most original, but new group I don't know them that well and I'm still fleshing this out. I'm guessing these guys are a bit on the power gaming side of things by hearing them talk about their wild "combos" I'm not. I couldn't care really, but I don't want them to think I can't carry my weight. So what would be a good build to keep up with some power gamers? My choices barbarian/savage bard, straight battle sorcerer, fighter/sorcerer, fighter/battle sorcerer, barbarian/battle sorcerer. I'm trying to keep things fairly core no warmage, duskblade etc. please. My biggest question after what class is how many levels of each? Should I lean more combat, more magic, or half and half? Thanks Fizz
Not to be too self indulgent, but I thought I would let everyone know what has been going on and see what advice is to be had. You all have always been really helpful and caring. Things aren't the greatest I suppose, but don't really care. My Job

Actives I have been spending as much time as I can finding distractions. I have been walking around our downtown area alot poking around and thinking. I have also been spending alot of time going to the theater alone. I enjoy movies, but not so much people or rather people talking to me and trying to help. The theater has started to be a refuge: it's dark, I'm being bombarded with sound and imagery, and no one speaks. Gaming: as trivial as it is I heard 2 new interns at work were talking about their hate of 4th ed. They thought they were in trouble then realized I was talking about D&D with I said you need download the Pathfinder RPG. They invited me to their game. I dropped my old group long ago because of the memories of me and my wife playing. I don't know if things are better or not maybe? They are different. I didn't think my life would be this way at my age, but it has made me realize I'm young very young. I'm still depressed I can't lie about that. I still miss her every day, and I still get angry for odd reasons about random things, but I'm trying to I guess grow is the word I'm looking for; but I'm not sure what I'm trying to do. Thanks for listen to me ramble. You all have been a big help. As always Fizz
I know several people on the boards have military backgrounds or are currently serving, and I believe a few cops post as well, so I thought I'd see. I've had an interest in guns since I was little. I'm guessing being in a family with a huge military background, having 3 cops in the family (dad, uncle, grandfather), and growing up in a rural southern town where gun racks and hunting at the age of 8 was the norm, had something to do with it. Currently I own 4 hand guns all for enjoyment or protection not for collecting
I'm thinking of pick up another one for target shooting preferably higher powered than a .22. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of starting to collect guns in general I guess, but more so looking at older pieces, more for show than function. Anyone do this or have any tips? I also have a wide selection of rifles, muzzle loaders, and shotguns. I've hunted everything from deer, elk, rabbit, dove, turkey, duck, geese, squirrel, raccoon, to bear. Anyone else enjoy shooting as a hobby or hunting? I bow my head in shame at the stereotypical gun toting American. I blame it on America's obsession and approval of vigilante justice... Fizz Oh before I ruffle any feathers. I have no kids, all guns have the proper licenses and permits, all but one gun is locked in a cases with ammo stored in a separate locked case, the one gun has a trigger lock on it, and I have been trained to properly use said firearms. All animals killed while hunting were done so in a humane manner with clean shots, and I or someone field dressed, cleaned, and severed to eat all said animals besides the bear. I will admit bear hunting is purely sport.
Has anyone played the Master of Chains PrC? I know it's 3.0, but I was wanting to know a few things. I'm not playing this character just thinking about it, and writing a few things down. What were the weakness of this PrC? Strengths?
Thanks for the help running with an idea, symbolic idea I guess. Fizz
I think I might be done with D&D and most of my gaming hobbies in general. I have always loved D&D and everything it had to offer, but recently I have dramatic life changes. My life was going great: happy home life, got two raises at work then offered a promotions that would change my life style as far as money, law school was going great as I completely blew this year out of the water. Then recently I lost someone very dear to me in my life. The most important person in my life. I've found myself having no interest in the things I used to love. I used to cherish books and movies that had special meaning to me, but recently I went through my collection and found myself selling most of the books, movies, and games I own. These items had no more meaning to me. I've held off selling the 30ish D&D books I own because I knew at one time they held some importantance to me. Now I don't feel anything for them or anything else in my life. I have no interest in what used to make me happy, from the companionship of my friends or the understanding of my family. I'm thinking of selling everything I own and moving away from the town were I live, and never looking back. I've started tying up loose ends at work, I've haven't planned own signing up for classes next semester, my family which lives six hours away knows I've had a great loss, but I don't think I want to see them or anything that could remind me of my old life so I won't be moving to my home town. I'll miss everyone and everything I had, but I want to forget everything. I've started packing and in a few days I'm going to get in my truck and keep driving until I find a place that does minded me of what I had. Fizz
This is a weird question I guess, but is there any biological reason for that indescribable feeling of heart break? The tightening chest, the dropped out feeling, nausea etc. Do chemicals change? Do neurons fire differently? Is there some biological reason, or is it something beyond defining that has given birth to countless art both good and bad? Fizz
I got hit in the face with a pigeon! Yes I got hit in the face with a pigeon. It had been raining most the morning, but stopped around 12. I had the day off and was feeling a bit blue so I thought I would go for a walk and enjoy the stormy windy weather. I walked down to Knoxville's World Fair Park and as I'm strolling around zoned out in my head when, WHAM! SMACK! a pigeon the size of a Pomeranian hits hard spinning and clawing at my face. I collected myself and looked for the pigeon. The dire pigeon fell to the ground and just looked at my like "What the f!@k why didn't you move?" All I could do was look back at him and say "F!@k man you're a pigeon you should have moved!" We stood there for about 30 seconds staring at each other before he hoppled away looking at me like I was an a!$%@@* for standing where he was flying, and I walked to the restroom to see how badly he scratched my face thinking 1. How the hell did this just happen? 2. Why did this pigeon have such an attitude problem. Fizz
Are there any Weezer fans on the boards? What am I saying everyone likes Weezer. I do not know what makes me love these guys and their music so much. I have been a huge fan for a long time now, and I don't know how they amaze me every single time I hear the same song over and over. And I swear almost all of their song seemed to be channeled straight out of my life. From the meaningful lyrics to Rivers ripping, to their shying away from fame has all combinded to make a great thing. I loved how Rivers writes as if he has no intentions of having others hear his music, and how it's almost as he doesn't want people to hear his music as if it has too much of himself to have other experince. At this point I've turned into a gushing fanboy so I will leave you with this Weezer has honestly made my life better with their music. Want To Not To Want...but look for their new album coming out. Fizz
Does anyone have a work out plan? I'm soon to be 23 and the pants are feeling a bit snug. I'm 6ft. 2in. 215 lb. between an office job, class, and life I guess I'm getting a bit lazy. When I was 18 I was 6ft. 1in. 180 and fairly muscular and could run several miles now I get winded going up a few flights of stairs. I never really "worked out" I worked laying brick, I boxed after school for fun, did some martial arts, and was in a fairly hardcore music corp. I guess with boxing/martial arts, work, and a guy yelling at me to run laps and stop F-ing up and drop and give him 40 (it'll build lung capacity BS) I stayed in shape, but I really haven't done jack since freshman year of college. Does anyone have any suggestions? Like I said I never really tried to "work out" I was always just doing something else. Fizz
We all basiclly agree that two weapon fighting is a bit underpowered when compared to two handed weapon fighting, can we see an upgrade to two weapon fighting? I would like to see being able to make an extra attack on a standard action not just a full round action. I think this would really help out with making two weapon fighting more attactive beyond just coolness (which is important!). Fizz
Could we possible see a rage power that allows a barbarian to wield larger weapons, or maybe get powerful build? Just wondering if the rage powers have anything to do with Amiri'a ablitity to wield a large bastard sword? I'm aware of feats to weild bigger weapons and the such. I have also seen several martial weapons that just required high str. in the Quintessential Barbarian II, but I'm kind of hoping there's going to be a power. Fizz
I was poking around on the WotC board looking to see if anything was being said about Paizo's Pathfinder RPG. While I was doing this I noticed a list of all the topics that are/have been banned from religion, sex, politics (reasonable) to katanas, alignment, paladin talk, star wars, the banning of things, and the whole novel sections, and the statement how no one that works for Wizards can talk about why they deleted that section. I'm not a regular at WotC, so what the hell? What's with all the banning? And now for some reason I have the biggest urge to know why the novel area was deleted...What could possibly be so bad about discussing Drizzt, El, Blackstaff, Tanis, Raistlin, Strum that they had to nuke the entire thing? I'm not trying to say anything about Wizards. I just became extremely nosey over this. Why all the banning? What happened that would cause the novel area to the destoryed? curiosity killed the cat Fizz
What would you go back in time to tell yourself? Ok here are the rules: whatever you tell yourself cannot be centered around financial gain. Ex No: I’d tell myself to invest in Microsoft. No: I’d tell myself to pick 8675309 lotto numbers. No: I’d bet on the X team or X horse. If it’s to study to get a better job to make more money fine or to keep all those old star war toys just no easy gain. I would go back to myself in 3rd grade, and tell myself to get to know my/your/our dad better because he’ll be gone soon. I would go back to when I was 17 and a senior in high school and tell myself not to give up music. I decided it was better to pursue a career with a higher income than what I truly love. I play soprano, alto, tenor, berry-sax , clarinet, bass clarinet, piano, guitar, bass guitar, upright bass, and drums. I was an all state musician, and gave it all up to bow down to the all mighty dollar. I would go back in time at several points to tell myself to trust more people from friends to family and not be so closed off to them. Fizz Sorry for being so serious. I was taking a shower and all this was kind floating in my head. Oh and stay away from that Bit..ummm girl we'll call "A" you'll meet freshman year of high school who will do nothing but be a focus of to many crapy songs and make you a cynical a$~!~~# about everything by sleeping with you/me/ous and like three of your friends leaving broken friendships and hearts in her wake.
Could we see some society feats? If you don’t know society feats are feats that tie into some organization, kingdom, country, guild etc. They usually have heavy prerequisite and put you under the thumb of the organization, but give (usually) great plus, prestige (both good and bad. Does your organization have enemies? Then so do you.), and power (they tend to be more powerful than regular feats). Also they are huge role playing devices! Enemies, Allies, Resources, Fear, Hate, Respect. Fizz
How much is uncanny dodge, improved uncanny dodge, trap sense, and indomitable will worth? Say you wanted to create a ranger styled barbarian what could you gain from the ranger by giving up uncanny dodge, improved uncanny dodge, trap sense, and indomitable will from the barbarian? What could you give up from the ranger to get rage progression and damage reduction? I’m aware of most variants. I haven’t seen any that I like for this situation. However I will say that the ranger variant without spell cast had a lot of nice things, but just not for this idea. Any Ideas? Fizz
I have played a couple of shifters in fact they are one of my favorite races, but others (flgs, players, forum posters) have expressed views that it’s a poorly designed race. I could care less whether the shifter is the pentacle of playable race design. I’m in it for looks, fluff, story, and I love to play barbarians, rangers, and wizards (neither here nor there in this case). However I have been mulling 2 questions over. 1. Are the Shifters a viable/playable race? 2. Are they a well designed race? Quick answers: 1. Yes, almost everything is, if not a player will try to make it into one. 2. Probably not. 1. Shifting comes across as a neat quirk that has a very minute amount of usefulness if not enhanced by feats.
Yes I know these problems are not all across the board when it comes to the shifter builds, but these are some things that IMO I would like to see improved. Depending on which heritage you pick I’m sure the shifter works great or at least how and when you need it to, but that is one of the reasons I’m so found of the shifter is it’s a very season to taste race. In the end I still love the shifter. It’s a playable, fun, fluff filled, class that has a niche. I’m sure most power gamers will turn their nose up at the shifter and its feat needs, but it’s not always about crunch. It gives a harsher side of nature than we get with the tradition elves, but a more refined view than what orcs seem to give. Its design could use work. It has tons of flaws, but hey that’s just called character and house rules. I would like any suggestion in how to improve upon the shifter as a race. I myself am thinking of ruling that they have natural weapons or some natural improvement (pending which heritage you pick) all the time and shifting will increase what you normally have, instead of gaining everything when you shift. Fizz
A new and extremely powerful being has arrived into my campaign world. This god is threatening/killing the home town pantheon, and bring his worshipers in to subjugate the world’s people. The home town gods are too fearful or too weak to stop this “over-god”. So as usual the gods are sending to there followers to do something extremely dangerous in hopes of saving the divine butts. I will eventually have my players collecting items that were once belongings/pieces of mysterious gods. These gods left for some unknown reason, but did leave a few remnants of their former existence. The players will learn that this “over-god” had destroyed the world before and the gods who ruled it eons ago were destroyed or ran. However, a few did leave objects to help if this “over-god” should ever return. This is a basic outline of the story I’m planning to weave. I still have to work out some kinks. What I’m looking for help on is the Items that these mysterious gods left behind. I’m using real world mythologies for these items. I have a few ideas, but I’m looking for more. Just a few ideas: The Eye of Odin, Mjolnir, Athena's Aegis, The Hand of Tyr I would like some from all the major areas of mythos ie: Norse, Greek/Roman, Celtic, Egyptian. I don’t care if they are weapons, items, body parts, random objects. All help is really appreciated Fizz
Is this a reasonable option of you? Can you think of 3 schools to ban? On a knee jerk reaction I would say no, but looking over some spell lists I was surprised to see that I usually used 3 to 4 schools heavily. I might use 1 or 2 other spells from other schools, but I didn’t touch the majority of those schools. I’m sure this varies based on play styles, but I didn’t have a problem dropping some schools Enchantment: Sleep was one I kind of missed but it wasn’t a big deal. These seemed to be mostly all or nothing and are restrictive. Abjuration: I’m sure several people are spazzing out right now, but really how many of these get used? Shield, Dispel Magic, and Protection from Evil. This school has some good spells don’t get me wrong, but if the subject is blind/can’t see you, crippled, walled off, controlled, or hell being bombed they shouldn’t A) be near you B) be alive. Also Conjuration and Transmutation can provide shielding Mage Armor (which I thought was Abj.) is 1 example. Evocation: For some reason I hate giving this up, but honestly direct damage isn’t the greatest thing. Also like with Abjuration, Conjuration and Transmutation can pick up the slack if it’s your thing or Shadow Evocation can usually do just a good of a job. One thing I will say that I missed is the Evo. Wall Spells ie. Frost and Force, but Conjuration has some good wall spells. And last the big Contingency this was something I really missed, but there is a feat out there that allows you to create contingencies, however it cost Exp. Necromancy: I’m sure some player don’t mind giving this school up, but in my opinion there are too many debuffs(Ray of Enfeeblement), save or die(Finer of Death etc.), and even some healing spells(Vampiric Touch), not to forget “fun” spells ie. Clone, Magic Jar. Illusion: This school fall in with Necromancy for me. I’m sure some can see dropping this school, but for me it has too many goodies: Invisibility, Color Spray, Shadow: Evo./Con., Simulacrum etc. Conjuration No, I couldn’t do it. Too many options, too many spells. Transmutation See Conjuration. I’m sure several people disagree with this, but this is just my opinion. What schools could you give up? Fizz
Can a familiar betray its master? I was flipping through the familiars that can be acquired through the Improved Familiar feat, and thought hmmm would an Imp or Quasit screw me over? Side Notes: I know the familiar can do what ever the DM wants, but assuming you don’t have a vindictive DM that would turn a soul bound creature against you could your familiar betray its master?
And oddly enough when I was wondering this, a scenario came to mind of a wizard casting magic jar and giving his Imp familiar the command to guard his body while he possesses another, then the Imp knifing the wizard. I don’t have a clue whether this could or could not happen, but I find this an interesting idea, plot twist, plot device, or demise of an annoying munchkin. Also correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to have some inkling of an Imp familiar doing something to his master in Salvatore’s Cleric Quintet. I can’t remember…I never could get through it. I don’t know if he was giving him bad information, had his own plot, or was poisoning him. I seem to remember poison. Just an odd idea Fizz
Can anyone recommend a real time strategy game? I've looked at Rise of Nations, Rise of Legends, Stronghold, Medival, and some others. I used to like Starcraft, but didn't care much for the missions. I just wanted to build and conquer. I don't care if it's fantasy or sci-fi; I'm just looking for a good game. All Help Appreciated Fizz
I've heard some good things about reserve feats, but I'm not sure if they are really worth it. I've read them over and tend to think yeah that's kind of cool. Anyone have an opinion or experience about/with reserve feats? I know most of them seem to depend on the style of each character, but what are some reserve feats that stand out and why? Fizz
I happened across this movie while strolling through Blockbuster today. I will say the movie made me laugh and cringe at the same time. It revolves around a 5 Scottish college kids meeting and starting a D&D group. The move then deals with coming of age things such as the guys fighting over the geekie but hot goth chic, bad childhoods, why we play, and even takes a swing at the people who get too "in" to the game. This movie was funny and reminded me of some of my high school days, we tended to fight over woman a lot (I will say we are better looking...yes that's vain). Gamerz gives a very interesting look at D&D and the people that play our weird game. It's fun, entertaining, and interesting. I will warn it is a indy-film and the camera work isn't the greatest at times, but the story more than makes up for that. Check it out if you can, it is in one word Quirky. Fizz
Has anyone ever used a system to make better that masterwork items? This seems like a great thing to use in a low magic game. Dragonlance has a class, The Master, that allows someone to make +5 masterwork weapons or armor with the armor check penalty lowed by 5.
I like the above idea does anyone have a more in-depth system (I don’t care if it’s in a book or house ruled)? Just some ideas off the top of my head.
Dwarvencraft?
Any ideas guys and gals? I’m not fond of magical Christmas trees so I thought this would be cool. Also this could make crafting a more popular option, not to mention resource gathering. This all came up in my group because of a half-red dragon blacksmith NPC that I want to put in my game. The PC will seek him out this fabled blacksmith then prove/convince him why he should make something for them. He uses his breath weapon and extra strength to make better weapons. He hates everyone and just wants to be left alone. Fizz
Can you polymorph into a swarm? Polymorph states that you can not assume a form smaller than tiny, so would you count a swarm’s size as the individual creature or count the size of the entire swarm. Also do you get swarm traits? I think they're special qualities which is out, but it seems like a integral to a swarm. I guess no matter what you could polymorph into a swarm of rats which has a size of tiny. If the answer is no how does this spell look? Swarm Form
This spell functions just like polymorph except you change the willing subject into the form of a living swarm. (Everything else as polymorph except the size restriction which will accommodate a swarm’s size.) I wasn’t sure if the spell level should be the same as polymorph or not, it is more restrictive. I’m temped to say that as it is above it should be a 3rd lv spell. If it is 4th I’m thinking it should included swarm traits which I think are special qualities which are not allowed via polymorph. I'm hoping for dramatic escapes and exits! All help appreciated! I’m very confused and making it worse polymorph strikes again! Fizz
I’ve had Frostburn since it came out, and I just noticed the Primeval PrC. I don’t know why I always just kind of wrote it of as something that turns into a Neanderthal, but 1. I was wrong. 2. This class is unbelievable. You can “wildshape” into one large dire animal, prehistoric animal, dinosaur, or creature approved by your DM, getting it’s Str score -10 or -11(if odd Str) added to yours. Ex. Dire Bear Str 31 so a Barbarian with a 18 Str would have a 38 Str. He also gets a +3 to Str, Dex, Con, Wis, but a –3 to Int and Cha in his normal form. (Barbarian 41 Str.) He also gets another +6 to Str in his “wildshape” form. (Barbarian 47 Str.) You can stack rage on top of all that. (Barbarian 51 Str. or 52 Str.) None of the above is counting other abilities, natural armor, and class abilities that you get. This class puts the Bear Warrior to shame(which is a shame). Your get a dire bear (sort of) at level one of this PrC. I guess the 3 entry feats kind of suck but still. I’ve done all this just thinking that I’d pick a bear and be a barbarian 10/ Primeval 10, no power gaming involved. I’m sure someone else could make this class even stronger. I’m not much of a power gamer, but this screamed at me as I was reading it. Has anyone used it? I’ve played a Bear Warrior, which I loved, but I know this guy would have stomped me into the ground, prison bear raped me, and made me call him Sir. Just thought I should share my shock and horror which I half way like and half way want to take my good’ol Bear Warrior and run like hell. Fizz
I think we all know the answer on Specialist vs. Generalist, but what specialization do you usually take? I’ve heard people argue for Transmuter or Conjurer as being the strongest two, but I seemed to kick ass and, screw with people, as an illusionist with evocation and enchanting as my prohibited schools (NON-GNOME). So what are you? Are you blowing stuff up, turning people to stone or what? Oh anyone have any tips on improving an illusionist? Fizz
What variants do you find to be the most viable, useful, or that you just plain like? What’s the reason for your choice? I really like the shapeshift variant for the druid. It’s solved a lot of the wild shape and animal companion problems, and balanced the druid. Totem barbarians have given more flavor and variation in barbarians; however some are definitely better than others. The battle sorcerer makes the dragon disciple more of a viable choice. I like the D.D. so anything that could potentially get it more play time I’m all for. There are several others that I like and actually prefer over the base classes, but these are a few that seem to pop out to me. Fizz
The Wizard is where it started for me. I loved the idea of being able to master the arcane arts. I was also so thrilled by the first spell book I found as treasure. I didn’t want crap: screw the gold, the jewels, the rings, the what ever just give me that spell book NOW! I was Rasitlin before I new who Rasitlin was. This is still a thought that makes me happy to this day. Dragons were big deals not tissue paper monsters. The first dragon my first character help kill nail biting. Then trying to decide not only what to do with the loot, but all the arcane things I could do with dragon blood, fangs, heart, claws, hide. While the rest of the party is looking at me like I’m insane. Races never seemed just to thrill me they were all cool, but human seemed the way to go. Simple, great, can’t go wrong. Soon after I discovered Dragonlance and that has always been D&D to me. Magic was rare and secretive. Magic items were fabled. You didn’t need to be a paladin to be a paladin. The average town didn’t have a melting pot of elves, dwarves, humans, assimars, tieflings, warforged ogres, orcs etc. which allowed these races to seem special. I also liked the idea of a hero in a world were they aren't a dime a dozen. Yet again all help is greatly appreciated Fizz
I just watched Sunshine and umm…wow…intense…disturbing in some odd way. I really enjoyed this movie, I can’t really describe it with any justice. Here is the intro paragraph from wiki. which is more just the back drop. In the year 2057, the Sun is failing, and the Icarus project has been formed with the intent of travelling to the sun and detonating a massive thermonuclear payload to re-ignite it. Seven years before the events of the film, the spacecraft Icarus I was launched but failed for reasons unknown. The film opens with its successor, Icarus II, en route to the star. All of Earth's fissile material was mined for the two Icarus ships, and life on Earth is doomed if the mission fails.
Yeah…umm…I’m going to go watch Juno again, find a happy place, and forget I’m not the center on the universe. Fizz
Anybody read The Darkness comics? There kind of graphic, but I'm sure they are rated M. The main guy is a hitman that has these powers for darkness passed down from his farther. He can basicly do want every he can think of, but mostly his powers armor him, increase his strength, and the coolest he can create life which is usually in the form of these demonic imp things; he does create others tho. Also his powers only work in darkness. One of the odd things is if he has a child he will die instantly and his powers will be passed to his son of his 21 birthday. Cool huh? Fizz
Any fans of Etrigan the Demon aka Jason Blood from the The Demon comics? Jason Blood betrayes Camelot and Arthur in hopes of winning Morgaine heart. This lead to Camelot’s fall so Merlin binds the demon Etrigan, who is Merlin’s half brother and a demon Merlin uses to fight for him, to Jason Blood as punishment. Merlin hopes that together they will temper and torture each other, and hopefully they will do some good in the world. Jason Blood summons/transforms himself into Etrigan with the spell/chant: Yarva Demonicus Etrigan.
Blood gain several powers from this from super strenth to magic to being able to huge amounts of damage. Also Etrigan stops blood from aging. Blood/Etrigan also appear in some Batman comics and cartoons. I really like The Demon if this sounds cool try checking it out, if you're a fan lets hear something from you. Fizz
I saw the trailer for this movie about 8 months ago, and it had me with the lines, “He’s the cheese to my macaroni.” and “I’m already pregnant what other shenanigans can I get into?” I saw this movie recently, and I fell in love. This is my pick for movie of the year. This movie is now my favorite movie, which has been in debate for years. This dark comedy, from the makers of Thank You for Smoking, has everything to make it a great movie. Its plot may be fairly simple, but thank God simplicity is always great. The characters are what hit home. Each one seems to be hand-crafted out of reality giving each character’s quirks and idiosyncrasies rooms to work. In the end Ellen Page stole my heart, and made me happy to be one of the off beat, smart ass youths of middle America. If you can only see one movie this year go see Juno. If you hate it I’ll give you your movie back. Fizz |
