Work Out Plan?

Off-Topic Discussions

Does anyone have a work out plan? I'm soon to be 23 and the pants are feeling a bit snug. I'm 6ft. 2in. 215 lb. between an office job, class, and life I guess I'm getting a bit lazy. When I was 18 I was 6ft. 1in. 180 and fairly muscular and could run several miles now I get winded going up a few flights of stairs.

I never really "worked out" I worked laying brick, I boxed after school for fun, did some martial arts, and was in a fairly hardcore music corp. I guess with boxing/martial arts, work, and a guy yelling at me to run laps and stop F-ing up and drop and give him 40 (it'll build lung capacity BS) I stayed in shape, but I really haven't done jack since freshman year of college.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Like I said I never really tried to "work out" I was always just doing something else.

I do about 45-60 minutes a day in the gym. One day I do cardio on the treadmills and ellipticals and then the next day I do weight training, mostly upper body stuff.

I used to be able to hold myself out from a Metal Pole.

Ditch refined Foods: Sugars, Starches ect.

Milk saturates your adrenal cortex and causes Diabetes and the over production of Adrenalin and Cortesone so Calcium is a trade off.

Breakfast: 2-3 Fruits (Mandarin, Banana, Apple)/ALT: Toast, Egg, Bacon. DRINK: MILK or FruitJuice

Lunch: Frankly Raw Mince with Diced Bread, Tomato, onion, Egg, Pepper, Salt, cooked as Burger (one per Day), and between bun with mayo and lettuce (or vegemite and cheese).

Dinner: A Bowl of Steamed Cabbage and Chicken /ALT: Fine Chopped And Mixed Salad with Lettuce, Tomato, Capsicum, Celery, Tablespoon each of Mayo, Olive Oil, Vinegar.

Walk instead of Drive.

I work for a company that owns luxury gyms around the country so we are encouraged to go to the gym, which eliminates the problem of finding time. I've gone through times when I was trying to trim some fat and I found a combination of 20-30 minutes of cardio (treadmill is good)(you should be sweating by the time you're done) followed by about 20-30 minutes of intense weights (usually machines, sometimes dumbells). One day I'll do arms and shoulders, the next is back and chest. Mix in some legs and take the occasional day off.

I try to go 3 times a week. You'll lose some weight in about 2 or 3 weeks, depending on how easy or hard you go.

If you don't want to go to the gym, running is the best way to trim fat.

When you go to the store, park as far away from the door as you can and run there. Run and run and run, then work yourself up to a mile every other day.
I would run 2 miles every other day for 2-3 months, and I ended up being 6'2" 155 lbs. at age 30.
I don't have much time anymore, and it's too damn hot in Texas to run, so now I'm about 190 lbs. give-or-take 10 lbs, depending on how near to Christmas it is.

If you can do some basketball somewhere, that was always good too; maybe not as boring as running.
I usually tried to stay away from courts where there were all these guys who thought they had a chance to play pro. Not my style, for lotsa reasons. I don't see the point of being charged by a 230 lb. lummox with an attitude problem cos I'm so pretty.

running is good. just start off slow. I know the feeling while in the Marines I kept up a fairly toned body with a slight six pack. Since college and kids however I moved up to a keg. I am trying to get rid of that as we speak.

at 18 my exercise for the day is simple:

-As many push-ups as I can untill my arms stop working (around 70 right now)
-As many leg presses as I can untill my legs stop working (30-35 in each leg right now)
-as many crunches as I can untill I can't do any more (around 80)

None of it requires equipment and is done quickly but leaves me almost too tired to move.

Just make sure you have really good sneakers(support) otherwise you'll be murdering your joints, especially your knees when running.

Scarab Sages

I'd also recommend the Men's Health website They have great workout tip and programs and good diet advice and recipes.
I did the Abs Diet and lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks. (No exercise.) Now I am going to go to the gym and add some exercise to the mix.

Heathy - dude... 190lbs and 6'2"? You're a stick? (I'm surprised you lived at 155lbs...) Of course I'm 6'1" 250lbs... the other end of the it.

Yeah I know... too late for me in that regard however. Though they are both better now than they were when I got out 5 years ago.

I can do that one-handed. Wait...do you mean with your feet out in the air? Nevermind....

Diet is key. Soda sucks. If you drink soda and must continue to do so then drink Pepsi One. Just that change helped me lose 5 lbs.
Lean Cuisine has some delicious nukerowave meals, especially the flatbread sammies and wraps, that are great for quick lunches to help get away from fast food. Promise to eat 4-8 salads a week (with roasted chicken tomatoes, a spring mix of veggies, a couple cucumber slices. A teaspoon of blue cheese adds a good flavor to it, and top it with a tablespoon of zesty italian or ranch dressing (70 calories or less with less than 7 g of fat) and toss it good to get full coverage of toppings, I use Gladware storage containers to toss my salads.)

A minor diet change can help you lose the weight quick and get you filled with some good healthy stuff your body needs to run well.
Exercise alone is not a good answer.
Of course, if you want to look like these dudes, you gotta do THE 300 WORKOUT!!!
Hehe.

Eat whatever you feel like. Work out 20 minutes a day, working up to 30, using something simple, like an exercise bike, elliptical machine, or even a low step stool on the cheap. Every other day do 25 modified crunches or sit-ups, working your way (very) gradually up to 100.

Watch what you drink! Liquids do not trigger the “I’m full” reaction solid food does, enabling you to consume calories like freaking crazy without realizing.

If you feel like dieting to compliment it, it certainly couldn’t hurt, but set a realistic goal, like 1200 calories a day. Less than that and your diet will be counterproductive and possibly harmful. Expect it to take as long to lose weight as it did to gain weight, and don’t get discouraged and bail out if you hit a plateau at times.

Plan to work out 5 days a week as part of a lifestyle. I lift M-W-Sat with a 20 min bike ride and run 20-40 min on T-R. It's been good to me for a long time!

As ever,

I've kept myself trim... less overweight by:
a.) not having a car,
b.) not having a hell of a lot of money for food,
and
c.) occasionally lifting weights (buckets filled with sand work pretty well.

I also do a lot of hiking, canoeing, etc, which helps a bit.

Liberty's Edge

0600 to 0700, Monday thru Wednesday, and Friday.

Mon-Wed-Fri = 6 mile jog with sprints and x4 stops for 50 crunches and 50 push-ups

Tues = weights at the gym

Morning is the best time for a regimen; it accelerates you metabolism and you'll immediately notice you have more energy throughout the day. Morning is also the most convenient time, especially early morning--I never have time in the afternoons or evenings.
