![]() So I'm pretty new to PF2e, I really only started running my first game a couple months ago and all my players are new to it as well. One of my players is running a champion and picked up the Ride feat. It's a pretty oddball campaign and so he's riding a giant boar the group had come across, and thanks to the druid helped out and so she is now friendly and I agreed to allow him to use her as a reskinned horse. We've disagreed on what the feat grants him. It's my opinion that he can Command an Animal to Stride without making a nature check. He believes that because the feat says "Any animal you’re mounted on acts on your turn, -like a minion-." that he can command it once and as long as stride is the first action, he can do it without a check and the animal gets two actions. I mean in the end it's a minor thing, a single 1d6 hoof attack isn't going to have that big of an impact. Still, I'd like to have that clarified by someone with a deeper understanding of the system. Edit: Also, any suggestions on feats and such as he advances in level (party just hit 4th) to enhance his mounted combat shtick? That'd be great. :) ![]()
![]() There's a dedicated PF2 subreddit? Do tell! As to PF2, personally I haven't played much of PF1 and not in years. I was never that big a fan of D&D 3.5e. I'm a D&D GM more than anything (though I do love some other games, I don't get the run them nearly as often). I've only done some test play, but so far me and my friends really enjoy it. :) ![]()
![]() So I'm going through the Errata that came out a few weeks back, just making sure the characters in my game are up to date with it. I asked everyone to check for themselves but I just want to make sure they didn't miss anything. Anyway, I'm totally new to PF with 2e and we're still all wrapping our heads around the game. And I don't quite understand a specific entry in the Errata. Spellcasting Dedication Feats (pages 222, 224, 225, and 230)
I have a PC that has a dedication feat (cleric dedication). Unfortunately neither of us quite understand what this errata means. 'You can prepare or add to your repertoire common cantrips of your spellcasting tradition' specifically. This is already stated in the Cleric Dedication. What exactly is changed? Can someone help me understand this? Maybe it's just poorly worded, or maybe it's just because my understanding and knowledge of PF2e is still fairly suspect lol. ![]()
![]() I played this module back in the early days of 1st Ed where dungeon romps were much more popular. D&D has evolved since then and is much more sophisticated. My players generally enjoy a dungeon here or there but more like adventures set in cities, with intrigueing politics and the like, at least at mid-high lvl. I try my best to mix up the adventures. A dungeon romp here, a city under siege there, a ghost story there, etc. We've actually run more then a fair share of dungeons lately. I ran them through a converted Tomb of Horrors, part of a module series, the tomb became the home of a lich king. Right now they are going through an ancient elven city of the dead, much of it taking place in underground temples and the interior of a mayan-like pyramid. At least I'm getting a bit tired of dungeon romps, I think they are to. It seams Dungeon Magazine contains an awefull lot of them. Not that I dont love just about every adventure I read in the magazine (and the magazine itself is great,) but I like a lot of variety, keeps my players on their toes. I may run them through the Mud Sorcerer's Tomb sometime, but not likely soon. ![]()
![]() I'm goin nuts cause I've not gotten it. My players are stoked about the new story arc, and every day they are calling me to see if I got it yet lol. I wont let them read the players guide yet either :p Anyone else in the same boat? Or any idea why it's been 3 weeks now and I've not gotten this issue. :/ -An Eager Reader ![]()
![]() I forgot about the whole Rod of 7 Parts thing. Actually that 'hole' may be filled with their current travels. They are currently locked in a battle of wits and strapped for time as they seak to overcome a rather powerful lich (lich/sorc 16/pale master 8) who is seaking the Rod of Dramadine, which lies in three parts and is rather powerful once assembled. They currently have one part, as does the lich, and are in the jungles of chult exploring an ancient and dangerous ruin for part 3. If they get it assembled first, I'll probably let them hang on to it for use later in the Age of Worms. ![]()
![]() Yea I wonder what the damage on that sucker is. :) Gaint Executioners Mace - 10d6+60 20/x3 OUCH! Speaking of a 'The Art of Dungeons & Dragons.' Anyone remember the old 2nd ed Monsterous Manual type book that had 'ring binder' pages and came with several 8x11 cardboard paintings? There was one in particular of an ogre in the snow about to smash the life out of a poor guy who fell over in fright and had his tiny little shield over him thinking it'd protect him? Man that was the best painting of an ogre I've ever seen and to this day thats how I picture them. I cant stand the 3.0/3.5 MM ogres :/ I should have framed that picture. I dont know what ever happened to it. If I ever found it again I'd take the image to Kinko's or something and get a poster made of it lol. ![]()
![]() As the title says, I've been reading the Age of Worms adventure path and it's great. I've not been able to read it all as I've only had a subscription for the past 5 months and started with Spire of Longshadows. I play a bi-weekly game with 5 characters within it. I was thinking of buying all issues previous to issue 130 that contain Age of Worms adventures, but my players are all quite high level now and each have clear goals they are working toward. I was thinking that perhaps I could push the age of worms path as a level 20+ adventure path. Basicly a path for epic characters. This thought hit because in the last several AoW adventures, I think my players would have a tough time of it, even at the recomended levels. I finished reading Into the Worm-Crawl Fissure and man Dragotha would probably woop all their butts lol. It would at least be a VERY hard fight. And to know that Kyuss is even tougher? I think I could very easily push the path forward into epic levels. I already have their path to 20 layed out. Here are my players: Slipper Kendrick - 5 rogue/12 illusionist (17th level)
So you can see my players are 17-19th level and quickly on their way to 20th already. I have suggested playing the age of worms with them but only one of them would be willing to start a new character lol (these 5 have been their primary characters for several years now, in one big ongoing campaign set in the forgotten realms.) I figure I'll start it as an epic campaign. However, I clearly cannot start an epic campaign at the first age of works adventure. I was hoping some of you on this board (likely many of you) have read and perhaps played through much of the AoW and can suggest to me which adventure to start with. It wouldn't be all to hard to advance each adventure to around my players levels. I'm an experienced enough DM to be able to add on to an adventure even, to bolster it's difficulty. So can anyone please recommend which adventure I should start with? Where does the story really pick up and the age of worms become apparent? Would it be possible to modify say the 10th lvl adventure to include important parts from previous ones? I suppose I could buy every one of them back to the first and do all this myself, but it would add up to a fair bit of money and I already have barely the time to get each adventure written out for our bi-weekly games already, let alone finding the time to read 12 odd adventures and modify the campaign lol. Not to mention I've several other roleplaying projects in the works, between a totally new and rather unique D&D campaign world, to working on our World of Darkness campaign we switch to once in a while. At any rate, I could use a little help. :) So thank anyone in advance for helping me out. ![]()
![]() Heya all, new subscriber here. Well I subscribed to Dungeon years ago but I just decided to start it up again. Anyway I noticed that last months Dungeon (129) shipped on the 18th of October. Does that mean to expect the new issue in the next few days here in november? Also when do they update the main Dungeon page with info on this months issue? Basicly I'm just itchin to get that first issue :D |
