Feranfox is very much a worshiper of the Green Faith: he wouldn't appreciate the structure of an official religion, and he prefers natural chaos and the freedom to act according to your own ideals over following the often arbitrary rules of a mysterious deity.

I'm not sure if I understand this, but basically Feranfox and Ivar are a combat duo. Perhaps Ivar will enter combat one round sooner because Feranfox might cast a buffing spell, but the idea is that they are flanking buddies and will always fight together. Feranfox is not flippant with Ivar's life, and would be truly devastated at losing such an important friend -- he wouldn't encourage needlessly reckless behavior.
