It's mid-September, so after his stated time for resuming the game; I wouldn't call it quits yet but it seems likely, yes.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Ha! 'By force' it is!"

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

They've been having "technical difficulties" for the past ~24 hours.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

While I forgot you were a cleric, having three Auras of Good coming into their temple would likely send the Asmodean priests running for the temple guards PDQ.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Both Fearghus and Luther have an Aura of Good; I suspect either of us going would be unwise.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus will go if necessary, but is obviously reluctant to do so.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

LOL!

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

I don't think my previous post lived up to its intended comedic effect.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus looks and Ava, and looks to Genisen, now looks back to Ava and imagines her with red skin and horns, and again at Genisen.

Thinking furiously, he scratches his armpit.

"Aye, an' hope t'ain't neither a'em give 't'all 'way. We all know Gen'sen t'ain't got a ser'us bone in 'is body - well, 'cept one, sometimes, I s'pose - but honest t'say I'm thinkin' as any lot as consorts wi' devils'll know Ava weren't one as like as not."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus scowls at the thought of making nice with Asmodeus or any of his followers.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Right. Well. Y'r after sayin' as 'ere might be some a' th'lords in a' city as're 'pposed t' Lord Redwall. Ye've an idear a' who'd be good t' talk to? Like as some kin' a' patronage'd be right good f'r us t'help un'ermine Lord Redwall an' give us a place t'hide t'boot."

I guess I'll have to write the most compelling character background EVAR!! whenever you do recruit for another one.

Hmm, let's see... Int 7, Wis 7 paladin of Iomedae raised in a military academy orphanage who Detects Evil everything (shouting "Detect Evil!" while doing so)? Compelling - yes, no?

How 'bout the Str 20 (also Int 7, Wis 7) Half-Orc Barbarian who randomly belts out "Strang smash!" before head-butting the nearest object?

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

At least I'm the only druid applicant; I shudder to think of all those poor bastards that picked Cleric... there's like 7 of 'em!

If you decide on RA, would you guarantee me a spot if I sent you all the PDF extras I got from the Kickstarter? wink-wink-nudge-nudge

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Nice translation, Luther! lol

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus frowns, and responds querulously, "Ye say we're s'pose t' win th' support a' th'city. Well what'n blazes ye think we're doin' here! Figured at least someone as is called t' service weren't yella' 'nough t'turn us out on 'r ears. So tell us who's one a' th' "powerful" an' ain't a'feared a' doin' th' right thing when it chances by, an' we'll leave ye t' y'r coward stink."

Intimidate (1 minute conversation to improve attitude): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Y'r pardon, Hilda, but I'm thinkin' as there's some details as I ain't wanna know in a' first place."

Fearghus thinks for a minute, pondering the priestess' question.

"Now, ye say he lets ye worship, but seems t'me as t'ain't right f'r ye t'have t' practice y'r worship on someone's suff'rance - if'n ye know what I'm sayin'."

"An' as f'r gettin' others 'r 'rselves kilt, it's right foolish one'd be t'think as puttin' things t'right without havin' to pay f'r it - aye, like 'nough in blood. I'm after thinkin', though, as it weren't our intention t' march on his palace an' call 'im out."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Huh, well, ain't that a great big ol' pile a' steamin' horse pucky?" rhetorically asks Fearghus, forgetting his manners in astonishment. "If he's powerful 'nough t'blind ye, who's t'say he ain't a full-on devil 'sguised as a man 'stead a' a man as is 'merely' tainted?"

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Well, my druid took 3 hours to write up; I hope it shows. I think the statblock may have an error or two, but will fix later at home. Genisen, you've got til tomorrow night to get your guy in!

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

I thought we were bringing the 5-7 worst-almost-dead with us for healing as well.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

I thought 'bold' and 'prominent' are Genisen's jobs?

Fearghus grins at Krol's consternation.

In a more somber manner, though, he expands on Durnak's statement, "We're after hopin' as ye could take in some women as we rescued from a right nasty brothel, an' all. There's more, but we brought th' worst a'em as're after needin' care an' treatment."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Durnak looks like a scruffy-looking nirf herder!

Very well; Fearghus shall wear a holocaust cloak. And leave the polearm he never uses anyways behind. Any further disguise shall be to speak in a deep-voiced French accent.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Dotted it; halfling druid. And yes, you shall surely regret posting that - you'll have a great deal of characters to have to wade through!

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Aww, Luther, did ye haf to mention bacon? Now I'm right 'ungry!"

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

I was not aware that "at dawn" was "high noon". Furthermore, no one is looking for specifically us: the guards we met and talked down at the liberated brothel fled town. The assumes those guards were not intercepted and questioned, however.

Fearghus disdains to hide behind the uniform of a disgraceful city guard, and will wear his own colors as a champion of a god of good with pride. He will walk in front of Genisen, hoping to conceal his less-than-reputability.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

That's funny: 48 hours after my MBA application was submitted, I get my acceptance notification. Clearly, they are eager to take my money! I suppose it also helps that the bulk of submissions for this fall have long since been processed.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"I'm after thinkin' as t'ain't no such thing as a female guard, there, Krol. No 'ffence 'r nuthin', jus' sayin' as y'r 'dea may'n't be th'bes'."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Ha! Ask, an' ye shall riceive! A'course, th' problem 'en is what'n th'Burnin' Hells is a guard doin' in a' temple a' Shelyn?"

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus is more of a lumbering oaf. It would be better to disguise him, than hide him.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Hey Durnak, how're things going for prepping ToEE?

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus hops in place and rolls his shoulders to ease his armor about himself, impatient with talking now that a plan of action had been formulated.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Hur, an' Luther said 'e di'n't know nuthin' 'bout 'ligion!

Sense Motive of Bellinda: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

"Miss B'linda, t' be satisfied in 'r own minds, would ye be willin' f'r me t' see if ye've truly repented an' worked all 'ese years t' help others? I'm thinkin' as, as we seem t've passed y'r test, s'only fair we do th' same."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"An' are we s'pose' t' stan' by an' let th' likes a' ye t' be used an' used up til ye pass in misery an' grief? T'ain't right, an' all it takes f'r such to go on is f'r none t' take a stan' an' try an' put things aright. Aye, th' task may be too much for one 'r more 'r even all a' us, but I 'gree wi' miss Serendipity as t' live a 'zemplary life t' inspire good in others, miss Anna."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

As the old woman began to rattle off advice and information, Fearghus grinned in anticipation. As she finished, he clapped his hands together in a mighty gesture of histrionics.

"Action at last! Round up th' good temples in indignation, stir th' pot a'twixt Redwall an' Asmodeus, contact th' Wood Elfs to create a diversion and draw out the Brotherhood so's we c'n finish th' job 'gainst Redwall an' 'en the evil temples. Redwall an' his minions done wi' an' Asmodeus' get scattered t' th' winds an' we set up a right 'sponsible, 'spectable gov'ment. Got it!" Fearghus plots, perhaps getting carried away with himself in imaginings of righteous grandeur.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Y'r pardon, miss Serendipity, but I'm after thinkin' as th' farmer was a drunk an' beat 'er in yon lady's story - where th' noble took care a' 'er an' all 'er fam'ly. I'm after thinkin' as ye've th' right a' things t'say th' only thing 'at matters 's y'r own choices and bein' 'zemplury t' others. S'what 'Rastil, the Blessed Elk 'imself, says, leastaways."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Seems t'me that we sell ourselves f'r wha'ver we're after wantin' 'r needin'; t'ain't nuthin' free. An' 'em 'at call others "whore" f'r it 'r th'blindest of 'em all. Th' one as 'comes mistress s'obviously th' better choice; a man 'r woman is one as takes care a' their own, bound 'r not. Leastaways, I ain't after lookin' t' have to judge th' ways a' others so long as it's their choice an' ain't none others t' be harmed by it," states Fearghus after much thought.

"I don' figure it matters all 'at much 'ere an' now anyways. We need t' be takin' care of 'em as too sick, an' goin' after them as made 'em that way."

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

So how was vacation? Where'd you go?

Did you go in for the Kickstarter?

EDIT: I did; apparently I'll be getting the full PDF as soon as the book is done, even if I'll have to wait another two months for the print copy.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Luther, I'll think about it for a day or two and see what kind of character springs itself upon me. I'm not sure about playing another paladin, as I'd like to avoid getting into a rut of playing the same characters all the time (though I think I'm doing pretty well with this one, RP-wise).

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Cannons? Awesome. My ex-uncle had a Civil War cannon in his family he sold a few years ago for $15,000.

But yeah, the weather this year is bizarre. Torrential rains and flash flooding just two weeks ago, and now it's super dry and I have to water the lawn every day to keep the dog from killing it completely (which happened last year when I didn't water).

Oh, Genisen - I dropped out of the Slumbering Tsar recruitment. I couldn't make a Tiefling character interesting enough to play... stupid Tiefling requirement (and the other Bard getting dibs on duelist, lol). At least I'll have Durnak's campaign to apply for, soon. I've already had one campaign die completely, another is on the ropes, a third is... slow, and lost half its people already. The usual for PbP, in other words. Good thing we have Wayward Kings!

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

So, what's everyone's plans for the 4th? I'll be at work, since I used my holiday to take the day off for my birthday in June instead (flew a plane, got drunk on a boat - whee!).

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus chuckles at the building consensus among the group, "Aye, 'hide wi' pride' an' 'less talkin' more walkin'' indeed!"

Nodding to the woman offering the refuge of her home, "An' le's be 'bout it, then. After ye, lady."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

"Aye, layin' low's what I'm after bein' among th' best things we done all day - an it's still early!"

Ha! An' we c'n learn more a' th' ol' lady t'boot.

"Anna an' Serendipity, y'r free t' make y'r own mind, but I'm after thinkin' as y'd be more'n welcome t' come with," he offered the two women.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

At Luther's confession, Fearghus shakes his had sadly and gives his fellow holy warrior a look of wry amusement.

"Blessed Elk! T'think I had t'study up on all 'at when all I wanted was t' study fightin', an' 'ere ye are s'pose t'know more'n me but don't!"

Pausing for a moment, he thinks aloud, "Well, I s'pose th'cards'll work just fine, though I'm wond'rin' how ye managed t' skip all 'at. The short version's 'at 'rastil, Iomedae, Torag, an' Sarenrae get y'r 'smilie' faces. Asmodeus is a def'nite 'frown' face, though."

Are we ready to escort the "reformed" guards out of town now, or what?

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"Aye, Luther, I'm after thinkin' as this be quite satisfyin'. Cap'n Julius won't be a problem for a while - if ever - and we din't have t'kill anyone as din't truly deserve it like them as was inside."

If you're referring to David Weber's Honor Harrington series; I've read it several times as well. I've read pretty much ALL of David Weber's books, excluding only the Safehold series and a few other random novels.

As for Sanderson, the man is a machine. According to his blog, the plan is something like this (each about a year apart):

A Memory of Light
Stormlight 2
Stormlight 3
Elantris 2
Stormlight 4
Stormlight 5

After that he gets more vague, but there will be an Elantris 3 and a Warbreaker sequel (already tentatively titled Nightblood), in addition to two more Mistborn trilogies (one an urban 20th C, the other futuristic). Plus other series, such as Dragonsteel that we don't know anything about except he had the first one written to a complete draft but he didn't like it so scrapped it for now.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

It's Brandon, actually. ;)

I've read all of Sanderson's books (excluding the Alcatraz YA stuff). He gets better with each. The most recent one, The Way of Kings, was fantastic (and the first of a planned 10-volume series).

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Luther, if you weren't already aware, I thought you'd like to know the next Vorkosigan book is scheduled for release on November 1. If you're impatient, you can buy the advance reader copy e-book (like I did... hehehe).

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus stands silently by while his companions debate what to do with Captain Julius, himself unsure of how to proceed.

"Aye, Durnak, ye've th'truth a' things, 'ere. Still an' all, I can't say as I am after likin' killin' a man as gone an' s'rrendered - such don' sit right wi' me as its too much like 'imself. Bah!" he scowled at the end, disgusted with the dilemma in front of them.

Looking up and around the dingy alley, he continued, "Th' sun's gettin' higher; we need t'make our minds up quick. I s'pose if Genisen's 'lil speech, 'ere, don't take we'd at least lock 'em all up in th' cages down there'n let 'em stew f'r a while. 'is own punishment''ll catch up to 'im f'r lettin' the wimmen free and gettin' captured by a bunch a' "outlaws" t'boot."

Depending on how Anna and Genisen's ploy works, it might just be best to let him receive his punishment from his bosses instead. His blood certainly wouldn't be on "my" hands. If I was other than a paladin I wouldn't care, but on the other hand I could just take the Fall and go anti-paladin vigilante instead... which amusingly enough would probably be an Asmodeus guy ala Golarion Hellknights.

Scored in the 54th percentile on the GMAT yesterday. Losing power (and accompanying preparation time) surely didn't help, as I consider "average" to be a poor score (plus a timed, standardized test is complete BS as a measure of real-world performance but hey we all gotta jump through that hoop). I'll try and get caught up with Gameplay this weekend.
