"At last! A head to sever from this villainous serpent," says Faux, marching through the recently vacated doorway. No regard is paid towards the last bandit, the helmet instead fixated upon the commander on the stairs. Faux provokes an AoO from the bandit in the doorway. Splendid! Round 3, Init 12 Faux's senses come alive once more, as if awakening from a long stupor. The first thing noted is quite a bit of pain. "Excellent scouting, Sir Biros," says Faux, watching the snowman burn. "And to answer your question, I have about 100ft. of rope with me. I can walk a safety line to the other side if security is your concern." Faux begins digging through Noble's saddlebags for the rope. I seem to have an aptitude for setting off these ambushes thus far. Let's see if crossing that river will be a repeat performance. Faux takes a few moments to calm down Noble, murmuring pleasantly to the creature as the glow within the armor fades. When the horse is sufficiently calmed, Faux bows low to Zypher. "You have my gratitude, favored of the gods. I walked perilously close to death's door this day, and it was your hand that kept me from entering. I shall not forget this blessing." Vaethic wrote: "Damned... Fey... Freaking... Cold... Saps the energy... right... out of... you..." From within the depths of Noble's saddlebags, Faux retrieves a set of worn, faintly horse smelling cold weather gear. "See if these will help you fight off this unearthly cold, friend," Faux says, offering the garments to Vaethic.

"I assume that the presence of this trap and ambush somewhat ironically means we are going the right way. As the party's diminutive assailant fades from view, Faux's mind whirls. Too fast for my armor to keep up, too dense a forest for Noble, and it's flying as well. Sir Lancaster's Treaties on Aerial Warfare for Non-Aerial People warned me of this. I recall a lengthy section on asking for the aid of a wind god... Faux turns to find Zephyr somewhat morosely looking through the cache, obviously disappointed. Bit too soon for that then. And here I am, so unprepared as to be devoid of a ranged weapon. Sir Lancaster would be ashamed. Faux hangs the helmet in a show of shame, sheathing the blade after a quick wipe down. After a short, silent march, Faux retrieves a light crossbow and 10 bolts from the loot. "If no one minds, I apparently have some need for this." Vaethic wrote: " Speaking of which; eyes open ladies and gentlemen, for there might be further clues to the whereabouts of the villains who have absconded with the Lady." "Excellent job absorbing that, old friend. I shall fetch you a carrot upon my earliest convenience. For now, however..." says Faux, patting Noble affectionately. The blow echoes deafeningly within the helmet, blanking out Faux’s hearing for a moment. A small price to pay, it appears that the armor turned the worst of that blow. When hearing returns, the song from the new half-orc fills the air, a pleasing enough sound, though Faux doesn’t understand the appeal. I refuse the song as it cannot affect an android. Bummer. Faux steers Noble Steed, a great, steely grey beast obviously a bit past its prime, towards the carriage producing the noise. When within ten feet or so, Faux dismounts, hand upon the sheathed blade. An excellent question with but one way to answer. If no one or no thing stops Faux, they will open the carriage door.

Faux sighs and lowers the gauntlet. So much for that attempt. No matter. We shall all likely be bonded in battle, if not in belief. Faux takes Mayumi's proffered luggage, bowing the helmet low in response. "It would be a pleasure, Lady Sasaki. In return, fair slayer of monsters, grant me the small boon of ensuring Sir Zypher's and your own safety until we arrive. We shall only be subject to the short delay of acquiring a ride for Sir Haze, and thus should catch up before too long. I would like fair stab at our vile kidnappers as well." Shouldering the backpack, Faux follows the rambling half-elf and distracted elf. Vaethic wrote: After Zypher and Mayumi take their leave Vaethic turns to his remaining companions and cocks an eyebrow inquisitively. "Well then, shall we be away?" "With all possible speed. My Noble Steed is sequestered in the local stables, so I will aid in Sir Haze's acquisition of a mount. If your Light's Light Laughter is elsewhere then we shall meet you just outside of town on the road to the ambush." Faux does not wait for a response and clangs with Haze towards the stables.

Meh. I'm sure it'll be fine. Or we'll all die. Either way, it'll be a fun ride.

Ben, I fully support the vow of poverty. I have never seen anyone pull it off before, but I have complete faith in you. This is a really cool place to do that too... But did you remember to buy a spell component pouch first?

This Zephyr character is noble indeed, a worthwhile companion for such a noble quest. Faux claps the gauntlets together with a clang. "Splendid! We have a heading and great cause to rush to it," Faux says, rising to their feet. "It is as fair Lady Sasaki says, Sir Yuln, you shall have your Lady returned and your vengeance sated, that much I can guarantee. "But first," Faux turns Councilor Teppen. "I believe our need for haste is self-evident, Lady Councilor, and though I greatly support my compatriot's flair for selfless charity, I fear a number of us shall ask for a charity in response. We will require horses." Faux turns to Zephyr now, striding to meet him in the doorway. "For though I'm certain Sir Zephyr travels with such speed as to be looked upon fondly by his patron, I assure you my Noble Steed is faster still. Furthermore, it is very impolite to belittle a warrior's weapon so. I have often read that many seasoned knights find a good blade a far more trustworthy companion then all the fickle gods above and below." Faux offers a gauntlet to Zephyr. "I look forward to discovering the answer to this dispute together."

Can anybody else use the sword? I ask because in character Faux would never relieve a knight of their sword and out of character I have a better one... Actually does anyone besides Mayumi have proficiency in longswords?
