Faolan frowns and looks around as his hands return to normal. It was strange that these two had attacked them, unless they were defending their hive...

If there's still a bee up when it's Faolan's round he'll attack.
Faolan snarls and steps up beside Bjorkus. As he does his hands again blur into owl talons, feathers sprouting from his forearms. He slashes at the nearer of the two giant bees with his taloned hands.
Faolan nods at Quentin. "Well you do better than me. I don't understand people. Animals are much easier for me."
"He's the druid that raised me," Faolan answers, as if that should be enough for anyone. "And lots of things happen outside of cities. Do people just not see it?"
As they leave town, Faolan takes a deep breath and seems to relax somewhat. "It's so much better out here," he comments to the others with a grin. "Why do people like cities so much?" He turns back to the road, cocking his head to one side in thought. "We could visit my friend Suibhne on the way. He's a druid so he might know why this boar is bothering people."
Ouch. :( Hope you're all the way over it!
Faolan nods. "It's near Oldrock River. I know the place. And I have a good nose when..." he hesitates, then finishes, "When I'm myself."
I think it's clear which way Faolan swings, but his priorities are rather... different.
Faolan frowns. "Boars don't bother people if they're not in their territory, but this one just started to recently. That means there's either something wrong with it or people just started getting into its territory. And it didn't sound like these people had moved recently, so I think there's something wrong with the boar."
"We could go see what's wrong with that boar instead," Faolan suggests.
"Ummm... maybe when there's not other people around I can show you..." Faolan suggests uncertainly. Suibhne had said some people might be afraid of his real form, or at least not like it, but these people didn't seem like they'd do either of those. "But, umm, I actually look kind of like a fox, but standing on two feet, and with hands."
"I'm pretty sneaky, and I'm used to the woods," Faolan volunteers. "And they haven't seen what I really look like." He stops suddenly, as he realizes he'd just admitted he *had* another form to these relative strangers.
Faolan, unfamiliar with this place and its purpose, says nothing, instead nervously looking around at all the walls and strange people.
Faolan looks around with wary interest. The city was still strange to him. It was someone else's forest, not his, and he thought Quentin was right about not trusting appearances. There were predators and prey here just like out in the wild, he thought, but the camoflague was different.
Faolan nods. "So... what does that mean you are?" he asks.
Faolan shakes his head. "I'm not used to..." he waves his hand around vaguely, trying to find a phrasing that wouldn't make him sound too strange. Failing that, he finished, "...people. Towns. Walls. I've come a couple of times, but..." He trails off.
Faolan shifts uncomfortably, feeling out-of-place in his human form and in this place with so many people. This kind of hunting was strange to him, but he was trying to learn new things, so he'd stick with it.
Faolan frowned. "I'm not a master, I'm just Faolan. I didn't see the boar, just heard about it. It's really big and bothering some people, which means either they've been moving into its territory or there's something wrong with it."
At this point Faolan enters. He'd left fairly early last night, and seems to be coming in from out of town this morning. "What are we talking about?" he asks as he approaches. "Oh, we should watch out for an angry boar when we get near the forest."
"Where?" Faolan asks, simply, thinking they hadn't specified where they'd meet in the morning.
"I live in the forest," Faolan states, "And I can sniff out snares."
"Oh," Faolan seems a bit embarrassed. His hands shift back to just hands, talons turning to fingernails and feathers to skin.
"I can do that," he says by way of (inadequate) explanation.
Faolan watches him go. "He's probably going to warn his friends. Maybe we should hunt elsewhere until they start thinking we won't come."
Faolan sprints after, easily vaulting over the fence. As he does he shifts his hands to talons. Almost instantaneously his nails lengthen, thicken, and turn black, while fine feathers sprout along the tops of his hands, making them almost look furred. His palms, in contrast, take on a scaly appearance.
Sounds like a good plan.

Faolan stands, too, looking uncertainly after Celebrindal, then the others. "I think she's chasing that man. Should we follow her?"
Faolan seems a little started to be addressed by Celebrindal. "Yes, it's my home," he responds, uncertainly. "I just came from there."
"Minotaur," Faolan repeats the unfamiliar word. "Are there lots of minotaurs? I don't know if there's lots of my kind of people." Immediately after he says the words, he realizes he'd messed up. He grimmaces as he thinks about how Suibhne had repeatedly told him that people often were afraid of people that didn't look like them. But... Bjorkus didn't seem to be having trouble?
Faolan takes the tankard with a look of confusion. He sniffs at it, wrinkles his nose, and puts it on the bar with a look of disgust. "Reward?" he asks, then sees Selim get out a circle of yellow metal. "Oh. Gold," he answers his own question. Disinterested with this turn in the conversation, Faolan turns to Bjorkus, points at him, and asks, "Umm, bull guy? What are your kind of people called?"
Faolan jumps slightly when the man with the rings in one ear addresses him, but relaxes a bit when he turns back away. Still, he had sort-of invited him closer, so he walks forward and stands right next to the group. His eyes dart around as he takes in the strange sights at the 'bar', from the person behind it to the bottles and cups to the people. Still, this group here sounded most interesting. Faolan sniffed at the air, trying to sort out their scents from the others. They were talking about... bandits. He wrinkles his brow as he tries to remember... "Bandits means bad people, right?" he interrupts Celebrindal, speaking over her last words. "Ones who hurt other people to take their things?"
Ah, I see how that could be misinterpreted. :D I mean "Sunday is the only day I won't be posting".
A young man with red hair and amber eyes hesitantly enters the inn. His eyes dart about with the nervousness of a spooked animal. There were so many people here! Suibhne had taken him into town a couple of times before, but then he'd had a friend with him. Now he was alone, and it felt so strange being alone with so many people. It didn't help that it smelled so different then the forest. He sniffed at the air and wrinkled his nose a bit. People stank in different ways from animals, and he wasn't used to it at all. But... curiosity drew him further in. Hesitantly Faolan walks further into the room, looking around for anyone who looks possibly friendly. He notices a group gathering in front of the... it was called a bar, right? One of them looked kind of like a bull! That was different! Maybe he was kind of like Faolan, whose true form was fox-like? Curiously he approached, but as he got close he nervously came to a halt. They were all talking to each other... what was the rule about talking to people who were already talking? Faolan tried to remember but couldn't quite recall anything, so he just kind of stood awkwardly, looking and listening.
Hello everyone! I'm looking forward to playing my feral were-owl kitsune. :D I should mention, I'm never around on the boards on Sundays, but I try to post every other day of the week.
I have played... more than a few kitsune. :) They're quite fun!
Okay, I've built my Kitsune Shifter, Faolan. Have a look and see if anything seems amiss.
