I know the answer to the thigh thing!

"Got it!" says Falko and he flies to hover right behind Finn's right, and just below the dark clouds above.

Once there, he takes another bead and throws it at the nearest two chanters.

Bead of force between the two Blues on the right and nearest Falko: 10 ft rad, DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 5d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 4, 2) = 12. If they save, they are pushed away from the enclosure.

Just to check, Black and White's swarms are appearing inside the spheres or outside? The force field is supposed to prevent all effects from going through.

Falko follows through, remaining behind Daryl and floating, with another ball of force.

Are there swarms still on the floor? If so, and if there are a lot of them, then Falko would try to target a bunch of them. Otherwise, he throws the bead of force between Red and Green: 10 ft rad, DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 5d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 3, 1) = 13. If they save, they are pushed away from the enclosure.

Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 121d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

7000 years ago...in a bright marble tower somewhere north of where Calimport now exists...

"What does it mean, dad?" the little boy asked curiously, gazing over his father's polished rocks. The man was an oryctomancer, a diviner who looked at the fissures and patterns of cut slices of minerals to predict the future.

The man was astonished and somewhat in awe "Its most simple interpretation is a clashing of great powers. This line symbolizes 'storm'...this one 'decay'. But 'storm' gets modified by this pattern here, and could just as well mean 'catastrophe'. Meanwhile decay is augmented by this mirror image...'serpent'...no wait, lower...'worm'."

"That doesn't make sense, how can storm battle decay? Aren't they sort of the same thing?" the boy innocently probed.

The father chuckled "It's true, this one is quite vague. Its usually better to spend time with samples whose meaning is more obvious...we can learn more that way. Let's just move on."

Yet the boy was stubborn and defiant, and would later pocket the unusual mineral cuttings and their message across time. He would spend a lifetime trying to interpret the prophecy, but would die never realizing the magnificence of Szasa in her battle with the Spawn of Kyuss, when the shower of arcane wrath would so turn the tide in humanity's struggle against the coming Age of Worms.

That man could have kept this hope...with this missing piece the later sages would see only darkness.

Enemies up.

Nice! Thanks for that.

As the sky explodes fiery red in front of them, Falko gives Szasa a warm, loving, smile.

That's a great reminder :)

Sorry, somehow missed my cue.

Falko feels the hatred, the evil surrounding them. He flies close to Daryl. For now, his animal self is content with the protective shield provided by the paladin and he instinctively remain above and behind.

From his position, Falko growls: "We need to prevent them from ganging up on us!"

And with that, he throws a small bead over his companion. It lands between the two foremost wormanoids and explodes, encasing them in a force field.

Bead of force between Black and White, 10 ft rad, DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 5d4 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 2, 3) = 15. If they save, they are pushed away from the enclosure.

Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 101d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Failed save after the success. If it means Falko is paralyzed, then he will use one of his rage powers to reroll.

Just a reminder, Falko is floating outside, just above the door frame.

Rage!

Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 211d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

"Crap... It's got to go!"

Fed and feeling fabulous, Falko floats up and stands above the door, maul at the ready: "Ready when you all are."

"Nice! I can hover over the door and bat the worms as they pour out of the place. Would that be good? Oh! Goodberries! I love goodberries!"

Falko will take all of them, eating one at a time "Hm! So fresh!" if no one else steps in.

"And undeath. And getting pushed down the ledge." adds Falko, arms akimbo as he faces the door with the oozing crushed worms.

"Of course it would be worse than touching my burning thigh! Most things would be. I don't... Well, anyway, I'm all for trying to kill Kyuss, or whatever else we can do to it. But if we try this, we need to be prepared. We need to think! Whatever that means..."

As they climb, Falko comments: "My thighs are burning! Feel them!" and tries to grab Tarn's hand and place it on his thigh so the Goblin can appreciate how burning they are.

Otherwise, he just grunts through the climbing ordeal. The vista takes him and he feels a strange sensation, being so trapped between floor below and fog above, but more importantly between the crushing sense of vertigo from the edge and the crushed worms piling against the door.

He manages a smile when gazing upon the rod, then says: "I don't feel like removing this rod and riding the worm wave all the way down to the sands below... Why are we here again? That Battery is producing crushed worms. Perhaps these holy locks are not meant to be removed..."

Too true.

Falko moves to Szasa and puts a light hand on her shoulder and says with a caring voice: "Ignore that thing. It's made of hate."

"I wonder why she didn't just outlaw all magic..." mutters Falko to Tarn.

Wonderful description. Thanks!

Falko listens intensely to Tarn's depictions, enthralled by the Goblin's way with words, truly impressed.

He shrugs at Szasa's precise summary and adds: "Well... Kyuss can kiss my classy ass! If the gods failed, I don't see a reason why we should to. Let's find that Battery-Shard-Obelisk and smash it to smaller pieces!"

He gets up, looks around, and asks: "We done with the book-burning? Shall we fiind this thumping-thing?"

Falko listens to Szasa and understands he has a bit more time to rest, so he nods and finds a nice wall to sit against and close his eyes.

Falko looks at Tarn and says with a serious tone: "You think B stands for Battery?"

"All right, but I could use some more healing, if your gods are still talking to you down here..." says Falko as he gets up and picks up his kit.

Ok, Falko takes the 22 hp ;)

Short Rest: 10d12 + 30 ⇒ (11, 9, 6, 12, 12, 10, 10, 3, 7, 3) + 30 = 113

136/175(-10 from drain)

Lady Szasa wrote:
"You're sad because the worm was playing on your emotions. The same way it preyed on these poor b@#$ards."

Falko looks at Szasa and wonders to himself Kind of like you? Instead, he just goes with: "Worms can do that? Well, once I ate this mushroom at the bottom of a bottle of Drow spirit and I got all sorts of things from it, so I guess it makes sense..."

He then finds a place to sit and wait, his body a cloak of pain.

Falko doesn't like armour. It hides his chest and ruins his tan.

Falko spits out the worm and gives an angry look, then he grabs Daryl in his arms and squeezes him in a powerful embrace, punctured by deep sobs: "I don't know why I'm sad..."

Then he pulls himself out of the Dragonborn and gives him a swift bow of thank, before walking off, stepping purposefully on the dead worm as he does so.

Does any of us have means to control the battlefield? I can't help but think that a wall or two might have made things easier for us.

Falko places a hand against one of the table holders and pauses, calming down. He feels Daryl's energy seeps through him and smiles at the paladin, facing him as though sunbathing in his aura, arms raised above his head to catch all the rays of goodness: "That! I need a break. These things almost killed us. ALMOST!" he shouts and laughs. "The gods watch over us! Now, I need some more focused holy help here..." and finally he sits down and closes his eyes, ready for a deserved break.

He adds after a moment: "I think I got one of those worms stuck inside my nose. Pretty amazing creatures if you ask me. Resilient!"

"Szasa... Will you PLEASE destroy those MAGGOTS!?!" shouts Falko as he rushes and steps over the body of Finlogan to swing at the last standing wormanoid.

Mag Maul Reckless GWM: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 191d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 222d6 + 22 ⇒ (1, 6) + 22 = 29

Radiant 1st Hit: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

I'm guessing that first swing drops the wormanoid. If so, he gets an extra swing from GWM. That swing and his second swing will go to the swarms around him.

Extra GWM: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 141d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 202d6 + 22 ⇒ (6, 6) + 22 = 34

2nd: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 251d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 142d6 + 22 ⇒ (4, 4) + 22 = 30

Necrotic damage from worms (resistance): 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

Falko swings without mercy, until you hear a sickening crack coming from his skull. For a moment, he stays immobile...

Con save, Relentless Rage DC 10+5: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 251d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 1 hp.

"I'm- I'm ok... The gods have me!"

Forgot the worm thing...

Darylist Dex save DC 13: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 3 = 81d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 = 9 So worm stuck in my nose. No way Falko would not strike back after seeing death.

Can't see map, but assuming Daryl is still in range, as nothing has moved much.

Darylist Dex save, Red 1: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 3 = 121d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 3 = 14

Darylist Dex save, Red 2: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 3 = 141d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 3 = 22

-51 hp from wormsplosion. 1 hp left...

Falko gets washed in acid once more. He can barely stand as the wormanoid falls down on him. He manages to sidestep the first swipe, but the second one gets him squarely.

For a moment, he looks confused... 0 HP, a few things kick in... Let's see if I get this straight.

Relentless Rage: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 Brought to 1 hp.

Relentless Rage:

If you drop to 0 hit points while you’re raging and don’t die, you can make a DC 10 CON saving throw. If you succeed, you drop to 1 hit point instead.
The DC increase by 5 each time you use this after the first, resetting to 10 after a short or long rest.

"NOOOO!" he shouts back, refusing to die, and retaliates with his maul!

If Red drops, then he'll move back to where the healers are, unless it draws OAs.

Mag Maul Reckless GWM: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 261d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 192d6 + 22 ⇒ (3, 6) + 22 = 31

Radiant 1st Hit: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
2nd: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 261d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 122d6 + 22 ⇒ (4, 3) + 22 = 29

No need to retcon for now. Thanks for offering.

GM Infinity wrote:

Falko, you can't cast spells or concentrate on them while raging. So if the magic item casts a spell with concentration, no good I'd say. Then, some magic items specifically grant you the ability to cast spells (see Helm of Comprehend Languages for the typical wording). If the magic item works with a command word or other activation and doesn't have that 'cast a spell' wording, good to go. Other than that no limitations...we can RP anything surely. :)

edit: guess you changed your mind, but there you go for future reference.

Thanks for the clarification. Quite helpful. And yes, what I had in mind wouldn't work. Bronto is just too big :)

-30 hp this round, thanks to resistance!

Darylian Dex save: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 3 = 181d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 3 = 6

Falko bears the grunt of the attacks and keeps his mouth shut, then surges back at the robed nightmare killing him steadily.

Mag Maul Reckless GWM: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 111d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 272d6 + 22 ⇒ (6, 6) + 22 = 34

Radiant 1st Hit: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

2nd: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 171d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 112d6 + 22 ⇒ (1, 5) + 22 = 28

"Someone either destroy those swarms or keep them at bay or they'll corrode us dead!"

Thank you, much obliged. I’ll go with that then. Down to 10HP and cast Heal on Falko

Thanks!

I would like to use my Fanatical Focus Reroll, which I can use once per rage, to get a second save. I would apply it on the first save.

Dex save wormplosion 1, Daryl aura: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 3 = 101d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 3 = 11 Dear me... Nevermind!

Did I mention Falko has 2 hp left?

Dex save wormplosion 1, Daryl aura: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 3 = 91d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 3 = 17 Failed, 36 damage

Dex save wormplosion 2, Daryl aura: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 3 = 251d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 3 = 20 Saved, 15 damage

The worms' explosion further pushes the barbarian to his threshold.

Dex save wormtrusion, Daryl aura: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 3 = 211d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 3 = 9 Saved

"They're killing me!" he bellows.

40 damage from the wormanoids, 51 damage from the wormposions, nose clean of worms.

Nonetheless, he stays strong and swings back at the robed piles of worms.

Mag Maul Reckless GWM: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 161d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 212d6 + 22 ⇒ (4, 5) + 22 = 31

Radiant 1st Hit: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Assuming that drops it, I get an extra swing thanks to GWM. So Red is next.

2nd: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 221d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 222d6 + 22 ⇒ (5, 4) + 22 = 31

2nd: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 101d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 262d6 + 22 ⇒ (4, 3) + 22 = 29

Is having my hp in my status bar ok, or would you prefer I add them at the end of my post?

"Can't someone burn those things off of me!!?" shouts Falko as he swings through the mass of worm-shaped person.

Falko gets overwhelmed by the creature and its pack of worms' attacks: "No! No! No!!!" he says as he frantically tries to avoid the worms and brushes himself like a mad Damaran.

-32 hp with resistances. Using my action to brush them off...

Mammoth!!!

Falko as his Damaran battle focus takes over him feels great clarity. He smiles at the massive form of the dinosaur on his right. He wants to run at them, but knows better than to leave the paladin's side: "COME AND GET US, YOU MAGGOTS!"

And he throws a figurine over Tarn's head. As it hit the ground, the figurine turns into a huge elephant, which trumpet mightily at the robed figure.

"Elliot! Attack!"

Trying to make it harder for red one to get to us. Elephant (huge).

Gore: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 153d8 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6, 8) + 6 = 25

Falko can act on his turn durin the surprise round if he activates his rage doing so, which he will do. Let me know if that's all good and I'll post his action.

"It's all falling to dust... Sorry about the mess. Hey! Where are you going Tarn? This- It's too cramped. We can't follow you down there!"

Watching Szasa laugh makes him smile.

F! For! F-!!!!

Falko watches with wide eyes the maul's head fly on its own will, as though pulled, sucked, by the machine. He watches and cringes as the whole apparatus splits and spits bolts and glass, his whole body saying 'nooooooooo' while he remains deadly, or perhaps guiltily, silent. For once.

"I FOUND THE MAULS! ONE HAS MY NAME ON IT... SHOULD I JUST TAKE IT..?" shouts Falko across the room, while swinging his brand new maul at air-enemies.

F... For FALKO!

Don't touch anything. Don't touch anything. Don't touch anything. Don't touch anything. Don't touch anything. Don't touch anything. Don't touch anything... goes Falko as he walks around, looking for weird symbols.

Falko follows Tarn, keeping whatever distance the Goblin hisses at him.

Falko swallows hard, regretting he asked.
