This was one of the moments when 'speak with dead' might have been amazing, if it worked the way it should in situations like this. Still, it made Faith nervous, to be walking deeper and deeper into a lair of the undead. Even if these ones seemed pretty chill and only wanted to, well, not die. Be destroyed? Cease? What *did* you call it when an undead stopped being undead? Shaking her head, Faith looked for signs of whatever was causing problems.
"You'd think someone would notice something that big, even underground?" Things would likely collapse if a Bulette was busy digging under a house, surely? "Then again, maybe it's arrived recently. Do they eat bones?"
"Thank you," Faith said with a smile, wondering exactly how the skeleton could hear without ears. Maybe she could learn sign language when she had a moment.
Faith also tried to consider what might be out that there that munched on bones.
Drawing a bit of a blank, she tried a different route. "I'm sorry we attacked you," Faith said slowly. "We didn't understand what was happening. Do you think you can help guide us by your friends so this doesn't happen again?"
"I'm afraid I don't, but if you can translate..." Faith said with a sinking feeling.
Faith paused as the thing acted in very mortal ways. "Is...is that normal?" she asked the others, rather hesitant to attack after spotting the mortal traits.
Well, things seemed to be going well. So Faith hit the one next to her with her sword again.
Faith focused on disabling the one on the ground, letting the others go ham on the ones still up and wiggly.
Well, this sounded like fun. Faith popped around the corner and spotted the skeletons. She couldn't get close enough to attack, but that's what spells were for. Well, she was supposed to do this without too much devastation, and so she cast Grease beneath the feet of the two closest together. If they were on the boney ass they'd be no problem.
Faith smiled a little as she heard the bones dance. If you were going to get up and be a problem in your death you might as well have fun with it. Sadly, the undead likely weren't getting funky with it, but she hefted the Earth Breaker and focused on where the monsters were - and if anything else might be closer. Thankfully, the weapon could also hurt ghosts...
Focusing, Faith called up a massive hammer almost as tall as she was. If they were more bone than flesh it should leave a mark. Or shattered femurs.
"Faith-in-the-Rain," Faith replied with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Aelia." Looking to the others, Faith suggested, "Until we see what's down there we don't really have enough information to make a solid call."
"We can likely help with that," Faith suggested, making a mental note to form her weapon into something unpleasantly blunt. "You understand we're probably to have to hit them until they stop moving? I know it's not the most respectful treatment for the hallowed dead, but..." She shrugged her little shoulders in a 'what the hell else are gonna do, challenge them to chess?' gesture. "I assume that's OK, since you called for adventurers, but I thought we should check."
Faith's stomach rolled a little at the idea of dealing with more undead so soon, and defintely not from the drinks the night before, but making sure the dead could rest was an important one. "I'm willing to help. What are the chances that there will be...issues?"
Stretching as her phone beeped in the obnoxious way when you wanted to keep sleeping and instead had to pay attention the little electronic overlord, Faith muttered and invective against the watt and checked the phone to see what it was. Her brain fumbled through the message a couple of times before she got the gist. Muttering, she texted back, Let me grab a shower, some food and some clothes. I'll meet you there in an hour. Grumbling, she threw back the duvet and went to do the unmentioned 4th task - bathroom.
Faith does not notice the handover. This time.
"Sounds good to me," Faith agreed.
Faith reached for her wallet. "I'll pay now, and steal Joe's wallet later when the tequila hits."
"Three shots of tequila, Joe? You know the old saying. One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor." Faith grinned, waiting to see how Joe necked the shots - or if he intended to share them, of course.
"We can work with them," Faith said as she nibbled on another dry, "But we'll be in a better position and get more respect if we do some stuff on our own before we work with them again."
"It shouldn't be needed, given what the police saw, but I'd like to do it anyway. Maybe nail his ass to a prison bench for a handful more years." She couldn't imagine the church wouldn't have some special allies within the criminal system, and she would love to have this guy in there and in there grasp as long as possible.
"We had a job earlier," Faith said slowly. "Filmed it, but I don't think it's ever going to go online. Wouldn't be...respectful." She didn't want the families to see those women like that, ever. She took a fry and munched on it mindlessly.
"Depends on if there's a job available," Faith hedged. "I have a few appointments tomorrow, but nothing that'll take all day. I'd say 'chill for a day, unless it sounds important,' but we'll have to see." This job hadn't sounded that important, after all.
"Still hungry, Joe?" Faith asked as she sipped her drink. The meal before had been tasty, but she was never sure about portion size for larger people.
"We could always find a..." Faith paused as she hunted for a straw. One of the new metal ones, not one of the small crappy cardboard paper things. It annoyed the hell out of her that as a PR stunt a bunch of companies that made more waste in a month than plastic straws could in a decade had turned something so useful for the disabled into a green crusade, while quietly laughing and dumping more crap into the enviroment than ever before, but at at least the metal ones didn't melt. Or burn, in this case. But then Docta G took a gulp and Faith nodded, finishing, "A gnome whose up to the job. Yo."
Having taken the shot, and listened to the debate about the minotaur with some bemusement, Faith watched as Joe spoke something she didn't know - Dwarf, she assumed, given the audience - and wondered if the holy symbol got you discounts. Hers did at certain select retailers, but they were a lot less common than bars. "Might be one of those 'grandfather laws'," Faith suggested as she glanced at the head again. "It would be totally illegal to do it today, but having one from 200 years ago is just moderately bad taste. Like ivory." Although people rarely got ivory from the sentient races who could fight back.
I'm Blue (daba dee daba die): "Yeah, absolute power might corrupt absolutely, but I've only got enough juice to make a stun gun sad, so I'll just be a little corrupt and use what I got."[/b] Faith shrugged with a grin.
"And yeah, we might as use getting our names out to do what we want to do. I like adventuring, it's fun, but I like the art that goes into tattooing people."
Tru Blu Crew: "Honestly?" Faith shrugged. "Because I can. I spent a few years, learning to harness the magic from Dad's side of the family. Because I wanted to. Once I did though, and I found I could make magic swords with my brain, it felt pointless to just let that be the end. Figured I'd use the powers to do something, and this was something." She smiled. "And you? Planning to use this as advertising for your business? I know I am." It just made sense.
"Well, at least me and the chariot match," Faith laughs as she climbs up and into the vehicle's backseat. She figured the two boys would wanna ride up front together.
"I left my bike at Joe's bar, so I'll ride with Frosty." She hadn't spent much time the Docta, yet, and his friend seemed like he might have some fun stories. "There was never a chance I was driving back anyway. If you wanna have fun, Franklin, and have a couple of drinks we can share an Uber later." Finding all the cars the next day was one of the fun things about drinking on the spur of a moment. In theory.
"I hope someone on Uber has a big enough car," somewhat thankful that the twins hadn't come along on this adventure as she tried to app them up a ride, "It'll be a pain in the wallet to take two cars."
"Bad things happen to ordinary people," Faith said philosophically. "|There was nothing we could do for those women. We didn't get the chance to save them. But we sure as hell got revenge for them and made sure that f**k up won't add more to there numbers. We did what we could. More, we did more than we had to. So we deserve a break. The good doctor's treatment plan is solid. Let's go do shots, do things we should probably regret but I won't, climb into someone's bed and feel like we're really, really alive because you can't help but wish otherwise after that much vodka." Faith smiled in a way that suggested the Doc's bank balance would regret his generous offer.
Faith considered the dead women they'd just seen. "I could do with forgetting today in a haze of alcohol and public nudity charges, sure."
Faith smiled back at Franklin. "Your choice. I'm always open to unleashing havoc on the deserving." And the deserving tangential. Fire ants didn't tend to discriminate, she supposed. Nodding to the others, she added, "She brings her own handcuffs, which is a start." She disagreed that it was always the quiet ones, but then she'd met a lot of interesting people. One girl she'd known tended to chatter during everything it was physically possible to talk through. She'd also been loud when she wasn't talking. But she was a lot of fun..
"They seemed fine, as far as cops are concerned. They didn't try and make it all our fault or plant anything stupid. That's probably a win." Faith shrugged slightly and sipped her drink. "I know none of this makes sense, but I hope it's not part of something larger. That was enough dead women for one job." She really should have taken the chance to 'accidentally' hit that creature in the groin with a burning sword. Some things demanded more active revenge, but sometimes just beating them senseless and making sure they'd never see daylight would have to be a start. And speaking of appropriate revenge... Leaning over to Franklin she said, "You don't deserve that guy giving you crap because you ordered what you wanted, not after the job you did putting those bastards down. Want me to explain the errors of his ways to him?" Now that she knew she could get a box of wasps teleported in at minimal cost the sky truly was the limit. She was thinking maybe this time spiders. Angry, bitey spiders.
Faith grabbed the experimental dish, because she was always up for a new experience, with a side of spicy veggie tempura because sometimes you wanted something you knew you could eat. She saw no reason she couldn't have both. Whatever was in the sauce seemed tasty enough. Faith dipped her tempura in it, because why not no one could stop her. She was an adult. Mostly.
"I could eat," Faith said, managing to suppress the comments about who for poor Franklin's slightly more delicate nature. He'd done well on this job, and it would be rude to make him uncomfortable until he was at least two drinks in. "Crispy Veg tempura sounds nice."
"You'd be surprised with some of them," Faith said with a small smile.
"I know," Faith said as she slowly considered, "But a swordsmith seems a lot easier to smuggle in and hide than, well, them." She gestured to the giraffe.
"I suppose it would have to be a wild life park or some such," Faith commented with a sigh. "They're not exactly native. Which rather begs the question of how the hell that guy got this one."
As the Goblin was secured Faith smiled serenely, and called Flicker back to her shoulder. She moved to her fellow Tiefling - always fun to connect with others, and she was moderately curious about the horns - and asked, "Hello, Officer. What are you going to do with the giraffe now? I kinda assumed it was the Goblin's companion, and I know the Bond can make things different."
Faith sighed. She nodded her head. "Xe tyrziuldh va." With a jut of her chin the giant wasp buzzed into life from her shoulder, floating over to the creature and landing on the Goblin's head. "Tmuw uw ph oruylv, fdutcyr. L pdyiwy zrh vorv ryweytz ph oruylvw, ar fdutcyr sudd rypulv haf smh kyulq eaduzy uw xe qaav zmulq." She smiled cheerfully. "Aeadaquwy. Nas." Infernal: "I certainly do."
"This is my friend, Flicker. Please try and respect my friends, or Flicker will remind you why being polite is a good thing." "Apologise. Now."
"Did you guys leave the Necromancer alive? We should bind him too. If someone has some rope I'll make sure he's unable to move, cast and very, very uncomfortable. After that, we need to call the cops. We can't mess around with dead girls." She looked at the Goblin. "And now would be a great time to learn English if you don't want to be handed over too, because I can't talk to you and no one else can, either." Or could they? Faith wasn't sure if one of the others could speak Goblin...but almost all the one's she'd met could communicate without issue.
Keeping her sword raised and an eye on the Goblin, Faith added, "I'm being very bad about all this, I didn't even bring any rope."
Faith took the chance to swing at the little sod as he tried to move away.
Grunting as the movement didn't land a clean blow, Faith followed the giraffe/Goblin combo and tried again.
"I've been a toy. I prefer to play with mine." Digging her toes into the asphalt of the carpark, she begins to charge at the Goblin archer and his mount, summoned greatsword now glowing with the power of music, and more importantly, fire.
"I don't suppose you'd consider surrendering?" Faith called as she moved towards the carnage her Grease spell had caused. Sometimes a liberal application of grease was very useful. "It would involve a lot less pain."
Charging after the others as best she could, Faith reached out with one hand and cast Grease of the runner. If it worked he wouldn't be going anywhere. Maybe.
