Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
At the dawn of the next morning, Euron stretches and begins preparations for the journey south, checking the horses and wagon a final time before finally ensuring his own mount and companion are ready. To whomever is within ear shot while he is brushing down his own elk, he nods and reveals his thoughts. "I'll probably leave the elk somewhere on the outskirts of the fort. Not a fan of the thought, but it might look a little suspicious otherwise." Once everyone has departed and headed south, he realizes that he may be posing as a prisoner as well. "Hmm. Might be best if once we find out we're near the fort if we size it up first. Then we can figure out our approach. If it's as big as a fort, might even be someone could get up close an get a sense of how many men there are guarding it before we go turning ourselves in."
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Ah, hmm. I had thought it we were going to pretend to have prisoners and pose as either the bandits we dispatched at the temple, or new bandits looking to join, we'd have Karthas and possibly Euron as prisoners - since they might be known and desirable men to have been captured? Suny, Edrukk and Yelena are all brand new faces as far as the Staglord is concerned and he might not have the same beef with them... although you three are an elf, dwarf and a changeling - maybe not typical returning bandits or recruits...
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron ties up and secures Tunica in Oleg's old barn, ensuring she has food and water and instructions are left to feed the majestic creature while he is away. Can't bring the elk... just in case some of the Stag-man's men saw Tunica, it might raise suspicion. As Euron departs the stables, he gives Niko a long look. What to do about you...? Karthas is the prisoner? He's the oldest member (and last?) of the original chartered group whom the bandits might recognize as a bit of a "prize" if he were captured. Almost everyone else, sans Euron, is a new face...
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron squints and waves a dirty hand dismissing Kesten's concern. "No time to talk, we're here for some booze, and then we're off to catch ourselves a wild Stag that's been real bad..." He gives a knowing nod to Niko as if to indicate he's making good on some long forgotten promise. The druid waits for someone with finer social skills to approach Ol' Nell and inquire about what she might be brewing lately that will do the trick.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
I realized I missed some things on Euron that last fight, and never finalized them... Specifically I never picked his 2nd level spells, and I never wrote anything down for the "catch up" gear allotment of 2000gp... I mentioned considering an enchant for the ranseur, but never recorded that. For his second level spells, I picked: Frigid Touch and Summon Swarm. Max: For the 2000gp, would a 1st level pearl of power (1000gp) and a cloak of resistance (1000gp) be okay? Are these things that would be on order, or would those things come right away?
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron nods to himself as he watches the end of the questioning with Jeb. "Now there's a plan I can get behind. If we act fast, maybe we can take this Stag-Man unawares, make him think it's just these fellas returning from taking care of us -- if we come back late enough with the right number of folks. Heck, a few of us could probably even appear like prisoners." Euron rubs his beard a bit in thought. "I wonder if anyone of the remaining folks would be helpful in telling us what we might need to know to get to pass inside like that?"
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron grabs the reins for a couple of the horses and leads the animals back towards the temple, whistling for Niko to follow. Broaching the clearing, he observes as Karthas towers over the bandit and shrugs at his animal companion as he tethers the animals and returns to lead another pair. Upon his final return, he rummages through one of the riding bags, and pulls out whatever the bandits ate as food, taking up a seat next to Suny, he offers to share what he's found. "They say much yet?"
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron twists his ranseur a bit in the bandit's gut before extracting it and glancing about the temple. "Looks like we need to stop puttin' off visiting the stag-man if this is gonna be what happens. Need to hit 'im now while he thinks his men are takin' care of us..."
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron glances about for any nearby pugwampis, breathing a sigh of relief when he spots the lone 'wampi some distance away. "Looks like it's surrendering time - your turn," he offers the bandit before continuing his attack if the man refuses. 5ft step back to AD,8 for Euron. Euron Attack (ranseur, inspire, cover, reach): 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 - 4 = 20
Niko Attack (bite, power, inspire): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 1 = 18
Status: Euron 19/22HP AC11 (unarmored) Niko 23/23HP
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Moving as swift as a wolf (due in no small part to the earlier activation of the wolf totem ability), Euron strides across the temple complex, Niko at his side, towards Suny and Mikmek. Double move for both to AD,10 and AE,11 Euron hollars much like an old man defending a porch with a broom, instead waving his ranseur menacingly, "Git outta here, y'blasted good f'nothing bandits!"
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Niko snaps at the bandit, uncertain if the man is fleeing or just moving to a more advantageous position, and still clearly understood in his mind as an enemy. As the bandits run off, Euron spits and looks about the bloody remains of their fallen adversaries. "Wonder if one's good enough to answer some questions about how they knew to ambush us here...." Niko AoO Attack (bite, power, inspire): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Status: Euron 19/22HP AC11 (unarmored) Niko 23/23HP
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Watching the bandit step into a perfect, fully illuminated flank with his animal companion, Euron cackles as he steps back and thrusts his ranseur's into the man. Euron 5ft steps to R,11 Euron Attack (ranseur, inspire, flank): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 26
Niko Attack (bite, power, inspire, flank): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 = 11
Status: Euron 19/22HP AC11 (unarmored) Niko 23/23HP
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron glares at the pugwampi before stepping back and working to coordinate his attacks with his wolf. 5ft step back to S,12 and he'll await Niko's strike on S,14 before attacking - just in case the trip is successful first. Niko Attack (bite, power, inspire): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 1 = 10
Euron Attack (ranseur, inspire): 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24
I'm not sure Yelena's pet is helping here... I don't know if I have the kind o' luck that would best one o' those critters. Status: Euron 19/22HP AC11 (unarmored) Niko 23/23HP
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Ah this is round 4, I figured the 3 round duration of Nature's Ally had expired at Yelena's initiative ahead of Euron, but perhaps I missed something extending it...? Euron 2nd attack (due to pugwampis): 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 = 12 Niko is moot since he rolled a 2.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron squints at the dead bandit, wondering if his swing or Karthas' took the enemy out. Damned dark, if only I picked Niko's vision instead of his swift foot... Euron moves to S,13. Niko follows to R,14. Both attack R,15 first. Euron Attack (ranseur, inspire): 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24
Niko Attack (bite, power, inspire): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5
Status: Euron 22/22HP AC11 (unarmored) Niko 23/23HP
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron pauses for a moment, wondering if Niko will be able to dispatch or trip up the remaining bandit. Letting Niko go first to attack the bandit in R,11. If he successfully defeats or trips him, Euron will advance to T,10 to engage rb - otherwise he swings at R,11. Niko Attack (bite, power, inspire, high ground): 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 15
Euron Attack (ranseur, inspire, high ground): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 28
Euron Crit Confirm (ranseur, inspire, high ground): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 23
Status: Euron 22/22HP AC11 (unarmored) Niko 23/23HP
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Clenching his weathered hands around his ranseur, Euron leaps forward like a rapid wolf, his animal companion in tow. Activate wolf totem ability to gain +20ft movement and move 45ft to P,10, attacking with reach using ranseur. Euron Attack (ranseur, inspire, high ground): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 24
Without instructions otherwise (and a standard action to give them), Niko would likely be operating on a "Guard" command and would double-move to protect Euron, putting him in Q,10. Status: Euron 22/22HP AC11 (unarmored) Niko 23/23HP
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron nods, but mostly busies himself with tending to the mounts and pets of the group while the others chat with the Erastilians, his thoughts starting to build towards a goal in which the Stag-Man is no more. When the question of exploration comes up, he does manage to add, "Maybe we'll follow the Skunk River back to the 'Kames, see what we can find along the way?"
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron's dreams of running through open fields chasing rabbits fade briefly, as he he's stirred awake by the sounds of conversation. Upon realizing the playful fey have returned, he opens an eye to ensure things are safe before closing it again and attempting to return to a deep slumber.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Survival (to feed the party): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 Can provide food for up to 8 others! As they make their way south, the old druid catches his wolf straying from the path. Knowing the pattern too well, he hops off his elk with a nod to Karthas and disappears beyond the scrubs that litter the kames. Euron is only gone for a fraction of a moment before he returns with a handful of hares slung over his shoulder. "Got dinner. Say one thing for the Greenbelt. It's got plenty o' rabbit." ** As they return to the Thorn River campsite again, Euron eyes the old bandit catwalks in the trees and rubs his bad eye with a dirty forefinger. "Y'know - we keep staying here enough times, it almost makes sense to make this camp more permanent-like. Keep some folks here t' run our errands n' such. If we get folks we trust, they could even run the final leg back to Oleg's so we wouldn't keep having to." Euron spits, and punctuates his thoughts, "not that I mind Svetlana's cooking, though she does seem t' overcook meat something fierce." The druid tears one of the rabbits, tossing half to Niko and biting into the other uncooked half himself before dropping the rest near the campfire. "Not sure if any o' you want these cooked..." As for watches, Euron will take early morning - he's stuck in his routine and prefers to rise early to gauge the new day.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Niko let's out a low pleasing sigh, and Euron gives the wolf a quizzical look. "Don't get too used to those rub-downs, y'spoiled mutt!" Bringing his attention back to the map, he nods his agreement. "Aye, south o'the Hotsprings seems like a good step, we can sweep eastward to the bridge, and if we think we're ready, we can take a look at the Stag Man's so-called fort."
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Eurons face does little to hide his surprise as both Edrukk and Yelena reference their abilities to weave magic of different sorts. "Y'shouldn't be afraid to summon forth yer companion, if he's gonna be travelin' with us, we should all meet him, regardless of how we smell." The druid chuckles, as his wolf yawns and rolls over in the sun. "See, Niko there would often complain about how some o' our last companions smelled - said somethin' about them bathing too often and their clean skin smelled more dead than alive." Clearing his throat, Euron turns to address Suny. "Dancin' eh?" He nods to her weapons. "I hope somethin' like blade dancin'?"
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron scratches behind his ear as he considers Edrukk and Yelena's questions. "Ye'd love to come along then, miss...?" the druid nods at her spear, wondering how proficient she is in her use, or if her otherworldly looks hint at other talents. "I can't say I know much about this Stag Man. He's not my lord, and I don't think he's earned any right to be called that. Y'know, I don't think the old group discussed much of a plan on how to deal with him. I reckon we just were going to show up on his doorstep one day and let all Nine Hells break loose." Euron looks to Karthas to see if the barbarian knows any more than he does.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
"Ah, mines," Euron nods clearly understanding the lure of a mine to a dwarf. "I never saw the draw in livin' in a city," the druid begins to grumble. "Seems everyone's always in a rush to get somewhere, and things end up with such an awful stink. It ain't natural for so many people to be crowded in one place." Euron begins to muse if he were put in charge of a large group of people, then shakes it off, dismissing such thoughts as fancy. "Dwarves like hills and mountains right? Plenty of those t' be found in the Kamelands and yer hammer is welcome." Euron kicks up his feet to get more comfortable as he awaits others who may see their posting within Oleg's.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron nods as Edrukk pens their recruitment post, and when the scroll is complete, the druid asks to read it. Squinting a bit, Euron rubs his eye with a dirty thumb before he gives the work a final nod. "Looks like we got ourselves a recruitment poster. Let's get'er up somewhere good that all manner of folks might see it." Euron makes a show of nailing the poster somewhere in the common area so all can see it, before returning to sit near Edrukk and Karthas. "So Edrukk was it? You're interested in tagging along then? What brought you out to Oleg's originally?"
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron nods to Karthas. "Aye, I like the way ye're thinking, although I'm a bit surprised - figured ye'd be keener on how he swings an axe rather than his table manners!" The druid gives Karthas another wide grin as he watches the growing traffic at Oleg's throughout the morning. "I prefer to just let Niko figure out who to travel with. Gozreh's beard, he's the one who convinced me to approach y'all the first time!" With that comment, the wolf looks up at his master and yawns before rolling on his side as the sun crests the outer wall of Oleg's, creating a warm band of light between the tables. "With all this traffic, we might as well just put up a sign, maybe let the folks who are interested come to us?" Euron seems to decide this course of action makes great sense, and sheepishly asks Svetlana if she has some paper and something with which to write and post up a bulletin. As he sits down at the table again next to Karthas, he holds the inkpen awkwardly, unused to the "modern" implement. After several frustrated attempts, Euron crumples up the third piece of paper and stares at the lone fourth sheet provided. "How's your penmanship, Karthas? Perhaps you could write down what we'd want?" You can presume we write down something like "Wanted: Adventurous sorts to join in the chartered expedition of the Greenbelt. Must be willing to bring bandits to justice and provide useful skills in the wild. Ask for Karthas or Euron at Oleg's Trading Post."
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
The old druid squints back at Karthas, an angered and offended look brewing on his face. Then, suddenly, it softens into a wide toothy grin and he throws his head and responds with a hearty chuckle. "None taken, Karthas!" Chewing on a twig, Euron rubs his calloused hands up and down the length of Niko's back while the wolf stretches and yawns with a nearly human-like quality. "The Stolen Lands aren't a kindly place. I'm not surprised that it's broken the spirit of so many. I'm sure it's a much easier path to turn back to civilization and leave the explorin' and bandit justice to us real men!" The druid claps Karthas on the back and nods. "So, it's just us two. While we were certainly the best warriors, I suggest we find ourselves a couple more folks 'afore we continue. While 'twas no place for a woman, Cinder and Eseldra's magic had come in handy more n' once." The druid clears his throat. "And since ye'd be the only one really 'chartered' left, how's about we come up with something better to call ourselves than this Chartered Six?" Euron gives Karthas a knowing look. "I don't think that name's exactly going to strike fear into the hearts of bandits o' this Stag-Man if they hear of our exploits." ** In a low voice Euron meets Karthas' eyes and nods towards the dwarf, /"How about that dwarf there?"/
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
I was thinking about what our three most needed. With two melee barbarians and a melee druid, I'd think we're in most need of an arcanist (ala Cinders or Eseldra). After that, a ranged character/archer - which could be a ranged paladin, inquisitor, ranger, bard, etc. Obviously, I'd throw all these preferences away to grab awesome character concepts with dedicated players. :)
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Looks like I need to put this thread back into my RSS reader! Let's see Nazard passed and Berwick is MIA. I'm good with giving Navior and Jeremiziah some more time to respond. I just peeked at both their aliases and they are active in other PbPs. Five is a good sized party. Strangely balanced, too.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
We'll definitely miss you Hiram/Berwick.. hope you return again some day. Figured I'd start the level train chugging... changes reflected on sheet. Spell selection still TBD. Level 3 Changes: Euron Level 3 Druid 3
Niko - Animal Companion 3
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Stepping back into the courtyard, Euron's beard is noticeably shorter. The druid looks at everyone self-consciously and quickly comments on the change. "Eh, I knew ye'd all be lookin'. Got somethin' stuck in it I did, and it needed a good trim." Niko glances up affectionately at his master and with a half-bark seems to chuckle at the druid's sudden lack of confidence when it comes to grooming. "Ah, and the patch was startin' to stink like a dead gobber, seems the eye's workin' a bit better than usual so I tossed it." With a large hand he grabs any available food and eats enough for two men. "Feels like it's been months since I ate..." he mumbles between bites.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Euron continues to make his way around the perimeter. A few stray stalks of the local plant life still wiggle as if they had a mind of their own, but soon stand motionless at the druid's passing. The old druid kneels on the ground, brushing aside some leaves and grunts, oblivious to the mud clumped to his knee. Niko wanders on ahead, beginning his sniffs on the ground and soon burying his head into a bush. The druid pays no heed to the conversation about illusions, auras and worg-pelts, staying focused on his task. A trained eye even catches Euron sniffing the air and biting on a broken twig, which he keeps in his mouth as he goes about his pursuit of the worg tracks.
Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3
Dismiss Entangle in case you didn't assume I already did. Euron squints his good eye at the trap while his left hand tugs on his beard. "B.O., eh? Sounds like Breeg's work. He's a right bastard, likes hiding these even from men." The druid's eyes drift to the dead body. "Looks like he caught himself a stag, although I haven't heard any mention of Breeg in quite some time." Euron frowns even at his own pun. Niko wanders towards the man's corpse, now looted, and sniffs about. "Don't think he had no food worth eatin', pal." The weathered druid turns and looks about ready to make for his elk when he suddenly heads towards the edge of the clearing and begins walking it's perimeter. With a whistle, the wolf abandons the fallen man and lopes to Euron's side. "Let's see where these worgs came from, eh?" Using Niko's Track trick to aid him in following the worg's tracks, Euron takes 10 on the Survival check for a total of 10+9+2 = 21 (I believe)
