Sorry for the lack of posts, busy weekend and both my kids are sick. No time to reply now.

@ Kolris - No worries. Totally understand. I have an impatient bard I always post a pre-game warning about so everyone knows I'm not a giant jerk trying to rush them through everything. Haha.

"Study is important, of course. When lives aren't at stake. Destroying this poppet will kill all of the undead created as a result of the disease, and it will prevent any afflicted with the disease from turning into undead." She raises an eyebrow at Kolris. "Is your desire to study this doll honestly more important than the lives of those afflicted who will soon die and rise as undead, and more important than killing all the undead left in this doll's wake that we haven't found?"

"If that is your opinion in your right mind I highly question both your morality and judgement. Studying it is not worth the death. Destroying it can save lives."

Does Esper learn anything about what destroying the doll might do?

Esper narrows her eyes at Kolris, clearly suspecting the elf has some nefarious or, even worse, religious ulterior motives!

Detect Magic and Spellcraft: Does Esper know what destroying the doll will do: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Sense Motive to determine if the poppet is mind controlling or otherwise magically influencing Kolris: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
I assume its just your opinion, Kolris, but Esper doesn't trust this crazy doll and wants to make sure you're not under an enchantment. You don't have to tell me anything about your reasoning or anything. She's just being thorough.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Esper smiles. "Fire it is, then."

Anyone have some alchemist's fire? I don't have any way to make fire.

Curling up her lip in distaste at the mention of 'serving Abadar,' Esper takes a few steps back. "I think not."

Looking at Kolris she considers. "Do you think it would burn?"

As Erhun strikes the laughing woman, Esper delivers a psychic told to her pain sensors, causing the enemy to take +1 damage from Erhun's attack with painful stare.

Esper strides up the ziggurat, quarterstaff in hand, and brings her staff down on the woman's head.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Reminder that the saving throw DC is 15 for hideous laughter, attempting the save is a full round action, and the enemy takes a -2 penalty on all Will Saves.

Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Spellcraft 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 "Glitterdust!" Esper calls out as the woman casts her spell.
Spellcraft 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 "Ray of Enfeeblement! Beware the pillars!"

As the beam of green light flies at Erhun Esper snaps her fingers. Erhun feels a comforting warmth surround him, and sees a flash of Esper's eyes in his mind. Suddenly there's a flicker around him, and where once there was only one Erhun, now two stand! When Erhun gets attacked Esper would have immediately triggered her mesmeric mirror trick, which grants him one mirror image for 1 minute or until destroyed. Esper no longer has any tricks implanted in anyone.

Esper circles around the ziggurat to get a better view of the enemy, then focuses her mind. Her golden eyes flash with light and she gestures at the enemy woman. [b]"Surrender!"[/b Casting hideous laughter on the woman. DC 15 Will negates and she takes a -2 penalty on that Will save (and all others, from hypnotic stare)

IMPORTANT NOTE: The next time anyone damages the enemy Esper triggers her painful stare ability, which causes the woman to take +1 damage from the triggering attack.

Esper pulls out a wand and activates it on herself. Shield. Then she takes five-foot step to the side.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

"I stand with Erhun," Esper replies. "We'll have no part in your ritual, or helping you fulfill your goals. You're a murderer who's propagated curses and undead throughout my home." Esper holds herself ready to fight. "Counteroffer: surrender yourself and the shard, or die."

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

"What exactly did you have in mind...?" Esper asks as she targets the woman with her hypnotic stare (swift action, she takes a -2 on Will saves).

Feeling a little sick, Esper leans against a table and takes deep breaths, trying to get a handle on her stomach while she waits for the others to catch up. After a few moments she turns her attention to the two nearby doors.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Checking out these doors and side rooms when everyone's ready. Anyone want to check them for traps?

Esper crosses the bridge of nastiness...

Fortitude: 1d20 ⇒ 9

..and quickly places a hand to her mouth as if fighting to hold down her lunch!

When she reaches the other sides she glances at the tables, takes a step toward them, then changes her mind and backs up into the casino room. Apparently she doesn't have the stomach to search anymore gore right now.

Perception (casino room): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 2 = 20

Esper curls up her lip. She walks around the four nearby tables, curious if anything of interest is hidden amongst the body parts.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Esper follows Kolris into the room.

Knowledge Nobility: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

"These busts are all of ancient, prominent members of the Ul-Ravi family, a noble house in Azir known for its history of mercantile success and social prominence." She looks around again, then follows Laiashi down the other hallway.

Light then, so Liashi can use it.

Esper walks over to the corner and peers down the hall, curious if the skeleton moves to stop her.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Light or heavy mace? Either way, Esper can make use of it. She has few options for fighting undead. Unless someone more martially inclined wants it?

"Are they... non-violent then?" Esper asks Erhun.

After a moment's hesitation she strides forward and tells the skeleton, "I'm here to see your mistress. Is she in?"

Unless someone has a bag of holding or something we're not going to be able to take everything. Some things are too big. The staff, for example.

How big is the statue of Brigh, statue of Ra, and the grape trellis?

I think some of us should quickly steal some objects for the Pathfinders while the rest make sure the auction attendants are here. Then we can call in the Pure Legion. They'll get to arrest the attendees before they flee, scoop up whatever objects Esper doesn't steal, and we can tell them that an imposter took important relics and fled, but we lost her, etc. etc. We can also tie the woman to the gold death and the note we found on the person who tried to delay us back at the beginning of the scenario.

After we make sure we don't get arrested we can try to track down the imposter. There might be some clues in the museum or something, but we need to call in the Pure Legion so they don't think we betrayed them or anything. Then we can take the time to look around.

Thoughts or other suggestions?

"The Shard's not here," Esper remarks. "That woman took it! Everything else is, though."

Remembering that they are supposed to pick up some choice items for the Pathfinders...

"Use the Society’s money wisely to ensure you obtain the shard, but if you see any other artifacts on auction that might be better off in the Society’s possession, you can use these funds to obtain those as well.”

...Esper quickly skims the flyer and examines the objects up for auction, collecting anything of interest to the Pathfinders, or particular power or historical significance, and stuffs it in her backpack.

I don't see the items on the maps. Am I missing it? What are the items here? Are there any she would recognize as being of importance to the society, or does she just need to guess/use her own judgement?

Esper rushes off to the door at the back of the auction hall, hoping the artifacts are back there.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Nonsense! Clearly it's just amazingly nimble. >_<;

Esper frowns as the blasphemous undead dodges her well-aimed water! "Where are the relics?" she asks her companions, curious if anyone recalls seeing them. "We need to claim the shield fragment before the Pure Legion get here."

Esper takes a five-foot step back and pulls out another vial of very expensive mineral water that's definitely not blessed and tosses it at the undead.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 3 - 4 = 7
Holy Water Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5

But it's reflexes are uncanny!

With few ways to hinder the dead Esper takes a five foot step back and tosses a holy totally secular water at the undead.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 4 = 3
Holy Water Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

Esper takes a quick step to the side and stares at the spellcaster, making her the target of my hypnotic stare. She takes a -2 on all Will saves. Then she stares at the woman, and smirks. "Oh, you're so hilarious."

Casting hideous laughter at the woman. DC 15 will save negates and she takes a -2 on that save from my hypnotic stare.

Apologies. I wasn't getting updates to this campaign for some reason.

Esper smiles at the woman. "Well, hello, to you too! It's been simply ages! And that's how you greet an old friend?" She clicks her tongue. "Manners, dear. How long has it been? Since... my cousins wedding?"

Bluff to pretend I'm good friends with Aya and see if this imposter takes the bait: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 Unfortunate! Haha.

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Why don't we give them the proper lead, but insist they let us go in first undercover 'to record the names of the attendants.' That way when the guests flee when the Pure Legion arrives, we can give them the names and they can round up the ones who slipped through. It's a logical argument for letting us have first access, it should give us some time to take what we need, the Pure Legion are a good cover, and we've got them for backup if we need it..

Esper gives Torvad a nod and slips the bidders banner into her tunic. "Thank you."

Esper would prefer to let Torvad remain anonymous so he goes free. She's in favour of telling the Pure Legion about the auction and using their aid to bust it/rob it of other relics. That said, I realize most of us would probably prefer not to work with the Pure Legion. If most of the team doesn't want to she won't argue.

Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

"Yes, careful now. Yes, and there's... Oh, that looks foul. See that ichor? That's going to be hard to heal."

As Gnickygnack hands the man a potion Esper looks a little worried. "This wound is cursed. Any attempt to magically heal him will meet resistance. I hope your brewing is up to the task...."

@ Gnicky: It requires the caster to succeed at a DC 16 caster level check or the spell does not function.

Looking at Kolris she raises an eyebrow. "Is that what it says? I couldn't understand it. What tongue is that? And who is the Midnight Lord?"

I tend to avoid crowds of that size

"I'll heal you all you want once we're out of here with that banner. Where is it!?"

"Hold still!" Can she hold the charge on the wand since she missed Torvad?

Oh, nothing to grand as that. I've only ever had a chance to attend small local powwows. My kids' school hosts one a year, and each of our city school districts hosts another. Are you close? Have you been? That must be amazing!

As she gets her wand working she tries to tap the frantic man with it.

Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Esper yanks the knife out of the man's gut and tries to tap him with the wand.

"Calm yourself!"

Use Magic Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

But she fails to activate the wand.

Esper hurries over to the stabbed man and pulls out her wand of cure light wounds.

"Are you Torvad? Where is your bidder's banner? We can't let it catch aflame!"

Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

"I need a locksmith or chain breaker! NOW!" Esper commands loudly. "We've survivors chained to the fireplace."

Not yet seeing the source of the screaming, Esper hurries over to the door, opens it, and looks inside.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Esper catches the eyes of the hideous beast and strides forward, sinking her psychic tendrils into its mind. (Free five foot step, swift action to make the red festrog the target of her hypnotic stare. The red festrog takes a -2 penalty on all Will saves and can now be the target of her painful stare). She draws a holy water out of her belt pouch and lobs it over the couch at the red monster.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Holy Water Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

GM NOTE: Esper has a few abilities which trigger for free under certain conditions. I will place the triggering condition and it's effects in a spoiler in my post. Please be sure to check her spoilers if any of their triggering conditions are met. If one is triggered please point it out for me in your next post, as I'll need to keep track of which tricks were triggered and used. Thanks!

Hearing that the dead are going to turn into undead soon Esper caves their heads in with her quarterstaff.

At Kolris' words she nods. "Right. Let's move."

Yeah, to the voices.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Esper checks on the dead.

"I'd like to examine the stables before proceeding into the house."

Esper waits to see if her companions' efforts have worked.

"Agreed. We should make haste."
