Bryna's soft bits look pretty good from here. In contrast, Erodin is big and hard. . .

Inactive

As the group can't seem to decide where to go, Erodin shrugs and moves from facing West to facing South. "Eh, screw it, let's listen to the girl and go south. Seems like where most o' ya cowards wanna go, and I'm ready for some action!" Erodin seems to be looking at Frank as he says this, verbalizing what the wizard may have just been hinting at with his body language.

Just changin' my vote, so now I think there's a consensus of 3 to go South.

Erodin tolerates you soft southerners.

"Ha!" Erodin gives Rasmus a friendly punch in the shoulder. "This guy can't say my name right, but he's got fightin' spirit! He is not afraid of battle even with that puny li'l blade." He gestures towards one of Rasmus's katars for emphasis and grins.

Inactive

For those who are waiting on healing, I'd encourage taking Frank's approach by rolling it here and stating how many charges are left. Nioku left an open invitation to do so.

Inactive

"Bring on the big one. I've been waiting for a worthy enemy all day." Erodin remains steadfast in peering West for the threat.

Inactive

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17.

Erodin moves up to the front of the group, facing West, and speaks matter-of-factly. "There's something out there. Grab the loot and heal up." He picks up his torch again, giving him along with his weapon two sources of light.

Inactive

Frustrated at his misses, Erodin shifts and ends up behind the last standing Fallen. His axe crunches into one Fallen, and his gauntelted fist slams into another.

ooc:
5-foot step to V10, TWF attack.
Battleaxe vs F5, flanking: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26;Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Cestus vs. F6: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22; Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
I am hopeful this ends the fight.

Inactive

Erodin agrees to allow Nioku to cast the light spell.

"Is that all you've got?" spits the barbarian as his hardened skin seems to endure the fire. Stepping through the gap in the enemy, he drops his torch on the ground and begins fighting with both axe and a cestus around his fist. The axe swings wide, but the fist has a chance.

OOC:
Step to V10.
Rage.
TWF against F4.
Battleaxe, TWF: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7; Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Cestus, TWF: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14; Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Erodin lights a torch for one hand and holds a battleaxe in the other. He stands beside Fredric, ready to enter.

Inactive

If there is ordinarily no penalty for dropping a torch, Erodin can tote one around.

Inactive

Erodin is about to charge an enemy when Pallan mutilates almost the entire lot with dark magic. He walks over and kicks one of the corpses over to get a clear look. "This is unnatural," he says, eyeing the necromancer suspiciously. Erodin does not even attempt to loot these bodies, preferring those untouched by dark magics.

Inactive

Erodin moves forward, but more cautiously than before. His looted sword drawn, he moves off the road to the north in a state of readiness, perhaps hoping to outflank the enemy.

OOC:
Move to J12. Ready action to attack the first enemy to approach him.
Readied Falcata: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6; Damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (1, 3) + 9 = 13 Swing and a miss.

Retcon
As the combat ends, Erodin heads over to the fallen Fredric. He rips off a piece of cloth from Fredric's tunic and using his massive strength ties a painfully tight tourniquet.

Heal: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20

"There, he'll be fine. In the Steppes, we call this growing up."

As soon as he's done, he heads off to divide the loot.

Seeing nothing on the beasts, Erodin makes his way to the fallen rogue. Stowing his axe, he picks up the curved blade, testing its weight before nodding and hanging onto it. He then starts stripping the armor off the corpse, tossing the parts into a rough pile. "Give this to Fredric. He needs it." His voice drips with condescension.

Inactive

I'm interested in the falchion. But speak up if you want it as it's more of a side-grade for Erodin.

Inactive

This is where we hope there are potions to be found, and quickly.

Inactive

Kicking the corpse of his victim off of his battleaxe, Erodin spins around only to find the battle decisively won, with only one fallen. He expects others will provide the fallen paladin aid--he simply searches the body before him for valuables.

Inactive

"Raaaaaarrr!" The moment he is struck by a quill, Erodin cries out in a bestial roar. As the others engage their enemies, Erodin clearly sets out to claim his own prize, charging at the lone creature that stands on the right side of the road. At the final moment, he brings his battleaxe down with deadly intent.

OOC:
Swift Action to Rage, Full Round Action to charge to P13 to attack enemy Q2.
Battleaxe, Charge, Rage: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 17; Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 2 = 19
AC=14, 6 rounds of rage remain.

Inactive

Good call, wanderer. I think the flavor of Diablo 2 would mean potions dropping like candy so we can stay alive. But I'm open to whatever. Thank you for being open to switching as well.

A powerfully built foreigner approaches, his face and arms covered in tattoos blended with deep scars. His muscular body threatens to burst out of the hide armor that fits around his torso. He is well armed, with a battleaxe across his back and a pair of throwing chakram on his left hip. He surveys the assembled fighters from his great height, looking to Nioku in particular as she asks for their skills.

"I'm Erodin. I smash my enemies with my axe. I am hard to kill. Period. Stay out of my way."

Groundhog wrote:
Hide armor is medium, so your speed should be 30ft. Otherwise it looks good.

Crap, that was supposed to be a Hide Shirt, which is light armor, but provides 1 less AC. I've corrected that. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hey, jumping in at the last minute. Here is Erodin Stark, a "Suli" Unchained Barbarian, intended to be in the mold of the Barbarian of Diablo 2. He's designed with high resistances to both physical and energy damage, and is equally capable of fighting with a large two-handed weapon or a weapon in each hand. Depending on how things go, he may work toward Whirlwind Attack for the full whirlwind barbarian experience. Let me know if I need to fix any issues with the background or crunch and I will gladly do so.

@Zedth -- just want to say (again), all the best, and we all understand.

And as for the whole team, it's been fun gaming with you, and I hope we cross paths again.

Brandt Holgarson wrote:

Brandt finds the whole scene very suspicious, far too peaceful for a camp of beastmen in hostile territory.

[dice=Perception] 1d20 + 5;

He looks around carefully, agreeing with Erodin's idea, but wondering if the Beastmen were doing exactly the same.

"Maybe we could send one in to see if it is an ambush?" He says quietly.

Erodin looks up at Brandt as he suggests this. "Sure, I'll--hey, wait! As Eina sneaks ahead, Erodin just hoped she knew what she was doing.

Inactive

After the hours-long march, coming upon an empty campsite seems almost too good to be true. Erodin looks around, wondering whether this was an opportunity or a trap. Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

"The campfire's still hot, whoever's here ain't gone yet. We could hide behind some trees for an ambush. I mean, unless they're tryin' ta ambush us first!"

Inactive

Yes, take it Taecuss!

Inactive

I think someone with a low Fort save should take the amulet giving poison immunity, so I suggest Taecuss. If not, I could take it by virtue of being a frontliner.

Inactive

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15

Erodin seems to be the most eager to seek out this treasure. He jogs ahead as the muddy area comes into sight.

As a result, he becomes the first to see what has happened. "Dang it, someone beat us to the treasure!" Erodin beckons the others to come, then points out the hollow in the mud and tracks that lead to the northwest.

Check out the spoiler -- Survival DC20 to start tracking the footprints.

Inactive

In the morning, Erodin looks to purchase a Potion of Shield should one be available, and more shovels if needed. Otherwise he's ready to go.

"Time to dig up some treasure . . . before more grumpkins beat us to it!"

Inactive

Once Eina starts to put on a real performance, even drunk Erodin becomes less focused on singing and more focused on enjoying. "Storm ravens sure can dance!" Standing to his feet, he begins to clap in rhythm with the music, encouraging the men around him to do the same.

We're all having these sign-in issues. As an additional consequence, my Wayfinder app is no longer working, which is often how I check up on these games.

Gamemaster Zedth wrote:

Gatekeeper Sabine entered the inn, calling out for a hearty lunch and for a round of drinks on her.

"Good men and visiting adventurers! Have a round on me!"

The dwarven couple hurried back behind the bar where they lined up mugs next to the tun from which the ale flowed, ready to accommodate the generous gesture. The off-duty lads cheered at the officer's kindness, while a few offered what were apparently oft-repeated requests for a dance and a date with the sturdy woman. She replied with her own brand of repeated rebukes seasoned with a jab at their aptitude both in and out of the bed, drawing laughter from nearly everyone present.

A pair of men produced a flute and double-drum, taking a seat upon a raised platform in the corner. The pair were well-practiced and played well together, filling the room with much-needed background music that is such a welcome amenity in many a tavern. After their first tune they began a second, a popular ditty that came to popularity sometime after the hellwar called "Be she a devil?". The tune was somewhat flat without a singer to carry the melody, though a few men tried (and failed) to remember the words and sing along.

"Yer singin' it wrong!" shouts Erodin, as he gets deep into his cups. "I'll give ya another version -- call it 'Be me a devil!" Standing up and holding a mug aloft, he begins to sing a bastardized version of the song, showing off his teeth, claws, and tail as he asks, "Be me a devil?"

Perform: 1d20 ⇒ 9

The rendition of a drunkard singing was definitely not that impressive.

It seems like a late night is in store for Erodin as he celebrates the thrill of his greatest victory. "I'm telling you, this creature was HUGE! Had legs going off everywhere, you'd chop one off and there'd be 5 more where they came from"

Erodin busies himself with the unpleasant task of cleaning grumpkin guts from his weapon, working up a nice polish once more. But he perks up as the Captain comes with his rewards.

"I'll take the fancy apartments over the common hall," agrees Erodin. "Though you'll still be seein' me in the tavern plenty!"

Erodin considers the writ, and what he might do with it. "Wouldn't mind a potion of Shield, a little magic armor can sure help in a pinch. But first, I think we've all earned some rest and relaxation. I'm with Eina, let's celebrate!"

Just want to say that work is pretty intense right now, my posts may be a bit cursory until that passes next week. Sorry in advance.

Just have it occur now, and we can see if Erodin partakes of such pleasures or saves his hard earned gold.

Inactive

Upon being told what the eggs are, Erodin nods in grim understanding. He had attacked a goblin warren before, and was not squeamish about what had to be done. To him, the grumpkins were vermin to be exterminated. "I ain't got no problem with this. Ready?"

Taecuss dyn Bru wrote:
Eina wrote: "Does anyone's wounds still need mending," she asks, her voice calm and controlled, but the sparks that occasionally race down her hair give lie to that fantasy. "Not a scratch, thanks to this one!" Taecuss says as he slaps Erodin hard on the shoulder. Well, at least it looked hard from the swing the elf makes. The stout tiefling didn't move a bit at the gesture. "I thought for sure I was done for when that mob of mud charged at me! I didn't even see where you came from; you were just there tearing them down!" "I owe you a drink, sir! And my life, if you keep track of that sort of thing."

Erodin seemed to be very quiet after the fight, lost in thought. It was hard to believe they had taken an army of grumpkins and that large creature down, but they had.

"Guess I learned a thing or two 'bout fightin' goblins in tunnels," he says. "I'll take you up on that drink!"

Erodin knew it was dangerous to stand toe to toe with the creature, but also knew his tough hide made him better suited than the soldiers. He keeps up the fight against the enemy before him.

Lucerne Hammer, Bless, Magic Weapon, Raging Song: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 23
Damage, Raging Song, Magic Weapon: 1d12 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 16

Inactive

Erodin chomps at the rats who enter his square!
AOO Bite, Bless: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 = 24
Damage, Raging Song, Crit?: 2d6 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (6, 5) + 12 + 2 = 25
"Nothing will stop me!" he cries, as he (hopefully) disperses the rats.

Once again, he tries to smash the disintegrating stone creature.
Lucerne Hammer, Raging Song, Bless, Magic Weapon, Flank: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 11
Damage, Raging Song, Magic Weapon: 1d12 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 20

He then sees the gremlin that so deviously coerced him to attacking Eina. "You're next, ya freak!" he says, without a hint of irony.

Thanks for letting me crit that elemental! I keep forgetting it's an elemental because Erodin thinks it's a centipede.

Shoot, I just imagined that I posted, instead of actually posting!

As the creature turns to face him, Erodin thrusts and swings with his lucerne hammer to counter its blows.

Lucerne Hammer, Bless, Raging Song, Magic Weapon, Flank: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 28
Crit Damage, Raging Song, Magic Weapon!: 2d12 + 12 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12, 11) + 12 + 2 + 2 = 39 Booyah!

Sensing an opportunity, Erodin sets himself, waiting for the creature to lunge at him and then strikes, to use the creature's own momentum against it!

Inactive

Suddenly healed by Cairth's magic energies, Erodin moves in to flank the beast from the other side. "Alright, let's do this!" He tries to stab at the centipede while it's turned away.

Lucerne Hammer, Bless, Raging Song, Magic Weapon, Flank: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 19;
Damage, Raging Song, Magic Weapon: 1d12 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 11

Effects: Bless, Raging Song, Magic Weapon

"Crud, the big thing's attackin'!" Seeing the giant centipede tearing through the soldiers' ranks renews Erodin's sense of urgency. He attempts a furious assault with both blade and maw!

Full attack. Secondary bite attack, 5-foot step, lucerne hammer. Bite will aim for the one Eina shot if it's alive. Hammer will aim for the un-hurt enemy.

Bite, Bless: 1d20 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 + 1 = 14; Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Lucerne Hammer, Bless, Raging Song, Magic Weapon: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 10; Damage, Raging Song: 1d12 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 = 15

Effects: Bless, Raging Song, Magic Weapon

As the grumpkins try to swarm him, Erodin swings at the whole lot of them!

AOO, lucerne hammer, bless, magic weapon, raging song, higher ground: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 24; Damage, raging song: 1d12 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 = 19

The blunt edge of his hammer slams grotesquely into the face of one grumpkin. Taking a step off the ledge, he tries a second wild swing to strike home.

Lucerne hammer, bless, magic weapon, raging song, higher ground: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 8; Damage, raging song: 1d12 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16

This time, though, his weapon catches nothing but air.

Effects: Raging Song, Bless, Magic Weapon

As the grumpkins get beneath the range of his polearm, Erodin resorts to more vicious tactics, attempting to tear the arm off a grumpkin as it lunges at him. Picking one Taecuss did NOT stab.

Bite, Bless: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16; Damage, Raging song: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

He then steps back to block the way up the ramp, intending to protect Taecuss and the soldiers behind him. "If you soldiers have bows, take out that priest!"

Inactive

Erodin takes his AoO against the enemy that dares charge Taecuss!
AOO, Bless, Raging Song: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8; Damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Will post regular action after Taecuss goes.

Inactive

That's fine by me!

Realizing the priest was on the other side of the path from where he was standing, Erodin instead directs his attack at a closer grumpkin! Same action, just change targets. Will let the stealthy ones get into their preferred position first.

Inactive

As the group approaches, Erodin applies the oil onto his polearm. He follows to get a good vantage point against the priest-like figure, and begins the assault by launching a chakram at the target.

I think I'm regrettably outside the range of the bless. *Edit* - I do seem to be affected by Raging Song, though!

Chakram, cold iron vs flat-footed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24; Damage, Raging Song: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 1 = 10

As soon as the blade is thrown, Erodin returns his grip onto his polearm, ready for what might come at them.
