"Say, miss. You look like you might have a little dwarf in yuh ... No? Would you like one?"
Shadow13.com wrote: I love playing as a Human.
Elves, half-elves and half-orcs are tolerable.
I despise dwarves, gnomes and halflings.
Does this make me a racist?
Maybe I just have something against short and squatty characters.
Is there a word for that?
"You don't look that tall yourself, Shadow13. Maybe you've got a little dwarf in you? ... No? ... Would you like one?"

Right. Surprise round. I can't flurry anyhow. I choose not to charge.

"I would've thrown a stone to wake 'im, and let 'im do our work for us. But, hey, I guess this could work too." mutters Ergrin as he follows behind the other two. Ergrin attacks with his stone fists, pounding on the man-bull.

Alexei wrote: Alexei catches Ergrin's attention and grins. Military experience has made him adept at motioning actions; he uses this knack with Ergrin now, indicating with gestures that the two of them should:
Trail Kin Lur stealthily (points to Kin Lur, makes fingers of one hand "walk," then points to self and Ergrin with other hand and makes it follow the first hand),
keep to the shadows (points at patches of darkness on the way there and pantomimes tiptoeing), but
stay close enough to the halfling to immediately intervene if he should be attacked (measuring distance motion with arms, with distance closing) .
He makes eye contact with Ergrin to verify that the monk follows the import of his gesturing.
Mijanor, Augrok, Ur, Vykos, and the kid should stay put (points to them and holds hand up in a STOP gesture, points to ground where Mijanor is standing) .
Indicating Jorr, Alexei motions tiptoing and lifts an eyebrow in a silent question: "Can you sneak well?"

Alexei wrote: Alexei knows not to leave uncleared areas behind him; he motions Kin Lur to peek in the doorway of the shed, while he and Ergrin stand by as backup. He also points to the half-orc and bear, points to his eyes, and then points to the ruined keep, attempting to indicate that the half-orc and bear should continue to watch for attacks from there.
Vykos and Augrok have no stealth; why are they with the scouting party? Leaving Mijanor and the kid by themselves?? That's like flashing a neon sign saying "INVADERS HERE ... PLEASE KILL DEFENSELESS CLERIC!"
Ergin hesitates but realizes it is safer to only send one person up ahead. He will wait with Alexei.

Ergrin grins at the suggestion that 'a few of us sneak in' and attempts to calm himself and tune in to his environment.

Mijanor Firehammer wrote: Dungeon Master Drax wrote: Long into the afternoon the party travels up the Dawn Way. At this point in the road, the Witch Wood forest crowds upon both shoulders of the Way. Before sunset approaches, Jorr finally points out your destination.
Looming out of the shadowy woods ahead is a forlorn sight - a ruined keep. The old castle sits on a small rocky hillock, and you can catch glimpses of a broken tower between the trees. A moss-covered stone at the side of the road you are following marks a footpath that looks like it leads up to the keep.
"This be the only way up to the keep aside from striding through the woods," Jorr whispers. "From here on out, best be as quiet as possible 'til we cross swords."
Make any necessary preparations. The keep is about 5 minutes up the path.
"Torag can be makin it so we don't make a sound or if'n ya know where the lookout is he could be silenced. Can't do nothin aboot em seein us though. Someone quiet want to go get a lay o' the land or maybe put a knife in the lookouts throat?"
He's offering to cast silence on us (though it make communication difficult) or on whoever will raise the alarm. He also channels positive enery to get rid of fatigue and the remains of the damage the hydra did: 2d6=9 Ergrin steps forward quietly. "I'm quiet. See. You didn't even hear me stepping forward. ... Did you?"

Egrin stares at his cousin and tries not to feel envious. He reminds himself that dwarven lust for material things distracts from the inward seeking quest: 'Mine the mountain, or be the mountain. That is the choice.'

Was ya clearly teachin this forsaken by the gods thing the meanin o' bein on a wrong side o' a dwarf. Ack, they don't smell to be good eatin neither." Mijanor steps around and examines everyones wounds. Seeing that they are no more than scratches at this point he grunts satisfied that they are ready to continue. With obvious dislike and a touch of nervousness he keeps a fair distance between himself and the water and double-checking his footing. Ergrin glows at the compliment from his cousin.
He looks at the humans working their way through the swamp to the wagon, "You know Mijanor. One advantage of being a foot shorter is that they don't ask us to do that kind of thing."
To be sure, he adds more loudly, "Looks deep. Over my head."

Dungeon Master Drax wrote: Ergrin deftly steps under the creatures snapping jaws and delivers a mountain-shattering punch. The creature reels and begins coughing blood in five directions. With a final spasm it lurches towards the party and collapses. Augrok's ball of fire begins to consume the corpse.
"Hmm. Don't see many of them this far west in the swamp," Jorr grumbles as he inspects his bow for defects, "but I be guessin' this heat'll be doin' strange things."
Before moving on, decide on any other course of action.
"What was that?" says Ergrin, his usually calm exterior clearly shaken.

Looking around, he adds, "But I'm not an expert with goblinkin. I'll defer to the group's decision, but it seems we should think of this as a large beast rather than a large group of smaller creatures and plan accordingly." "Through the woods," says Ergrin. "To do that, we'll need to travel fast and know where we're going. "Well, I'm not seein' as how we'd be blinding the fort without speed of movement. Fer a small number of warriors tuh take on a larger group will be requirin' being where we are not and not being where we are," says Ergrin thoughtfully. "And then, when they look for us where we are not being, we'll be required to not be where we are now not and instead be where we once were if you catch my meaning. But, if yuh can do that without ridin' a horse, yer a better dwarf than me."
