"Damn!" Enizver swore, the satisfaction of taking out the spellcaster with one round, well placed thank's to Uki, leaking away as the damnable creatures dragged Horat away. "You have chosen very poorly," he muttered as the long gun turned to one of those dragging the warrior away.

Enizver is moving to the side for a cleaner shot, but for some reason I can't move my toke, only the circle? Sorry, I'm very old.

"Dispel magic," the exhausted gnome said with a sigh. He moved to one side, trying to line up a clean shot so he could disrupt the enemy caster. Of course, 'death' tended to do that, but he'd see what he could do.

I guess that means we really need to get out there and Disrupt that Disrupt Magic, then? Sound like a really rash plan to everyone?

My first thought is to shoot the caster and force a check, but that would be awkward and involve leaving the Hut. Do we wanna see if he succeeds and if he tries again on Hut Mk II - Hutt Harder? Or do we wanna fight, take out the caster, and retreat to the hut again?

"I'm afraid that we currently have other plans for now," Enizver said. Amputation didn't exactly sound like an ideal solution, but if was needed they could always argue about the definition of 'Unharmed'. "But if you would be so kind, would you mind taking your lord an offer? One we have already extended to the Lady Fierna. If you are able to find a way to remove the Lodestone without harming the host, or harming another in there place, then we will be willing to hand the Lodestone itself over. While the lady assured us it was likely impossible, it would seem to me that the Abyss sees the impossible on a regular basis."

Well, the Abyss was supposed to be a chaotic maelstrom, wasn't it? Enizver wasn't sure if Chaos or Order was more suited to finding a solution, but he was mildly curious. "As I'm sure you can understand, attempts to harm us or ours could lead to some poor decisions made entirely out of petty spite. Since we can't walk from this cave without you or you foes spotting us, and the devils have already accepted our offer, may I suggest your Master will wish to know of this soon?"

"Simple," Enizver replies. "While we have no wish to hand over a key to reality to you, it seems unavoidable at this point that one of you will get it. We are willing to give it you. We simply refuse to give the keycase. The first one of you who is able to extract what you wish from our friend here, without harming him or putting another innocent soul in his place, can have it. Or we can keep fighting you while trying to find another solution and you leave it up to the fates if you or your foe is able to pry the prize from our cold, dead, fingers."

The gnome shrugged. "I know you claimed it was impossible to do. But it should be impossible for a group of lowly adventurers to keep the might of hell and the abyss at bay for even this thin moment, too. The impossible happens, sometimes. The way I see it you have little to lose by trying. We can't flee with you watching. If Abraxas attacks we'll hold him off long enough for you to join in, as we have no more wish for him to have this key. And needless to say if any attempt to harm the village is made, the deal is null and void. Your previous underling's plan was truly poorly thought out.
Spite motivates people as much as anything else, after all."

It was true, if they could do that Enizver would be willing to take the deal, with the groups approval. He just didn't expect them to be able to do so before they were ready to flee. He'd been careful to avoid any lies - he suspected a high ranking devil would smell them in the air - he simply wasn't explaining that he didn't intend to be around for the deal to be completed.

"You're supposed to be the incarnation of evil, not stupidity." Enizver said simply. "Of course we haven't done everything we can to stop your mistress. We haven't summoned a demon lord to give this man to them. A man who will probably want to do just that if you kill his people, I should add. If you wish to have any chance of winning this prize you will release those people into our care. Killing them will instantly end your hopes. And as I said, I will make absolutely certain that your mistress knows it was your doing." He paused. "I am curious - what will happen if to you, and your friend there, if she's told she lost a key to reality itself because you like bloodshed too much? I'm not a devil, of course, so I don't think I can really imagine such a fate. Loss of rank and status, of course. And pain. Slow flaying, perhaps? Sealed in a vat of holy water?"

"Ah, threats. Fair enough. We'll speak with the demons instead then. Perhaps they'll be in a reasonable mood." Enizver waved a hand in a dismissive gesture. "Please report to your mistress that you overplayed your hand, and it has ended in utter failure. When she wishes to negotiate in good faith, she can send someone else. If a bargain with your mortal foes hasn't been reached yet, we may listen. If the village is touched before any agreement is made I will personally make sure your mistress will not get what she wishes, and make it well known that you are why I blame her for its loss." He smiled thinly.

In truth, Enizver was worried about the village. But Devils liked there hide on there flesh like any other being, usually, and he wasn't kidding or bluffing in any way with what he said. It might be enough to shock the devil into acting better. If it failed so completely then it would probably be next seen adorning the next ambassador as a cloak.

I think we need to. Breaking through this lot is going to take more firepower than we have left, especially if they're going to be attacking us every foot of the way too.

Enizver raised an eyebrow. "I don't believe that there is any true need to do so, is there? You can hear us from where we are, we can hear you perfectly well here, and thus there is no need to strain our current trust any more than needed. If you have an offer to make - a true offer, please, not 'untold wealth and ultimate power for giving away the shaman' then I believe we can talk."

"Hmmm, Mount Talon?" Enizver considered. "I remember reading that the wards were inscribed into the foundation stones as it was built, and every stone on top. I think if we can reach it then, yes, it might work."

"That sounds like a much better plan than fighting forever," Enizver agreed to the idea. "Are you certain that they'll be safe? The forces arrayed against us are...significant."

Enizver leans against the wall of the Tiny Hut, his gun lowered as he scans the fog for any sign of movement. He felt like a wreck - the energy had healed the wounds he'd suffered, but not the memories, and he could feel the overdose of positive energy enthusing his muscles and making him twitchy and jumpy.

Enizver backed into the Tiny Hut. "Everyone in, and rest. With my wounds healed I can stand guard for you all, at least while you take a moment to catch your breath."

Enizver gets nothing back for a short rest, bar ammo which I have a ton of, so he can stand guard while S.A.M gets a rest. Plus a gunshot is a better alarm than just about anything.

Brushing some of the char from his armour, Enizver joined Uki at there request. "I'm sorry, I don't think we've been introduced properly. I'm Enizver. Thank you so much for your aid, this has been...unpleasantly overwhelming."

Enizver's plan is to make both sides realize this won't be easy, and force them to negotiate. He's willing to give them what they want, for now, but not who. The first one to fix the problem gets the prize, is his offer. It'll be less risky than continuously fighting, after all - they can't be sure who get past us.

Of course, that only works if it is possible, but...

"Alas," Enizver said as he slumped by the healing spirits, "I am not nearly that powerful a spellcaster. And I am completely out of magic." Pulling out his Bag of Holding, Enizer began to fiddle with some components.

Sadly, I don't believe either would count - it needs to be a Large Beast no more than CR2. Here is a list of beasts I'm rummaging through.

Hmmm...the biggest thing for Enizver would be a Mechanical Servant. Any suggestions for it? It needs to be a Beast of CR2 or lower. I'm thinking Giant Vulture, because Aerial Doom seems like a really, really good thing right now.

Of course, I assume I won't be getting it before the next encounter.

Enjoying the cooling healing power once more, Enizver stumbled to the North of the cave to get a cleaner shot on the Cambion, and fired once Horat wasn't blocking him.

Groaning as he was once more dragged back from the cool, dark place, Enizver coughed briefly and rubbed his eyes with his free hand. Looking over he saw that Horat was still fighting the winged things. Since he was tired of being shocked, Enizver rose to his feet, fired at the creature next to Horat, and limped away to safer ground to heal for a while.

We can use Inspiration to alter it later (or is that just move it?) but right now, yeah, the death is a problem.

Crying out in pain, Enizver collapsed once more with a crackle and a grunt.

Gasping back into consciousness, Enizver said a word in Gnomish that would have made his father gasp - and his grandma laugh in glee - as he got back to his feet with a groan. He could feel his muscle spasming angrily and his muscle screaming in protest. He was quite certain that being electrocuted was even more unpleasant than being burned more traditionally.

But he still had a job to do, and took a shot at the Devil threatening Olivia. He briefly wondered where all the little ones had gone, but whatever worked.

Watching the swarm fly over, Enizver briefly wished they'd put up more defences against flying beasts and turned his gun on them, focusing on the edge of the pack try and disrupt them.

Enizver gritted his teeth in momentary indecision. With Uki down and injured he wished to help, and could pour a potion down the spirit's throat, since his spells were out. But both Horat and Olivia were there, and would hopefully help. No one was backing up SAM, so the little Gnome artificer headed down to aid the mechanical warrior.

Upon seeing the same thrice-blasted demonic Mintoaur standing there, or perhaps simply another of its kind, Enizver sighed in tired exhaustion, raised his rifle and shot at the damned thing again.

Unable to do much to hurt the gathering monsters around the Shaman or help the fallen Uki, Enizver put down a Wind spirit to try and help the Shaman.

Enizver said an impolite phrase that suggested the source of the lightning bolt would have deeply unpleasant looking children. The thing had caught him off guard and only his unusual ability to avoid such attacks left him standing at all. With a grunt Enizver replied with a shot from his rifle on the beasty attacking SAM.

Moving to the choke point they had created, Enizver laid his hands down on the ground to call forth a Force Spirit and have it contribute to the defences before backing away again. He hadn't been fond of being charred.

Clearing the last of the residue from his gun barrel, Enizver nodded to Olivia in thanks for the boost to his fighting skills and snapped the weapon shut. "Demons and devils. Only the flavour or horrible seems any different." He readied himself for the next wave, enjoying the feeling of skin that didn't pull or feel tight while he could.
