Ellizza wanders around observing the goings-on leading up to tomorrow's festivities. How is it that this backwater burg attracts such a riotous variety of characters? And they all seem completely inexperienced like myself. Bizarre!
Totally unfairly increasing my chances by bumping my previous entry with this superfluous post! Not totally superfluous, as I haven't posted my personal details as requested.
The core rules and narrative style are a big appeal for me. See previous posts in my last short-lived RotRL campaign. I can post most days. I'll have my character updated tomorrow morning.
Although wearied by even the thought of such a journey, Ellizza has been convinced by her scatter-brained gnome comrades to make the long trek to Sandpoint to join in their festival. She knows there will be vendors with books, arcane knowledge, and perhaps magical trinkets to enhance her burgeoning magic skills. Along the way, they unexpectedly encounter a band of goblin bandits, and then a swarm of semi-sentient sharks during their sea voyage, both of which were quickly dispatched by her group and their traveling companions.
Like others here, I started with this gnome transmuter but never made it out of Sandpoint before the campaign went belly up. I believe she is already 99% core, just need to delete traits and replace some spells. Definitely interested!

to Narekk:
"I believe what he means to say is that we can wait to talk to the sheriff until later, as the goblins' motives are not our greatest concern. Do not worry about him, I have a feeling his intellect is keener than his countrified mannerisms let on."
Ellizza is less enthusiastic idea about the idea of being made into a hero, as her inferiority complex has only been amplified by her perception of being of little help against the goblin horde. Nevertheless, she is curious and acquiesces to Shadrick's lead.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
As Ellizza leaves and is followed by the others:
"By all means, your company is most welcome. If my kinfolk are in trouble, your assistance will be valuable. I assume you have no aversion to slaughtering more goblins, if that is necessary?"
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
"Gentlemen, it was a pleasure to observe your enthusiasm and skill in eviscerating goblins. I am happy to see, Shadrick, that you have overcome your brush with death. If you will excuse me for a bit, I am concerned for the well-being of my gnome compatriots with whom I am traveling. I will check on them and be back here in under two hours. If there is a further plan of action from this point, I may be inclined to join, if I can be of use."
With that, Ellizza trots off towards her campsite across the river. She sends Belbagus ahead to check on her companions and to let them know that she is all right. Once there, she gathers up her crossbow and the rest of her meager belongings, explains the situation to the other gnomes (assuming they have not been slaughtered), and heads back to the temple.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Elizza breathes a sigh of relief that the immediate danger is clear, but feels an overwhelming compassion for the poor elf cut down by the goblins. She mentally urges her familiar to search for any further goblin attacks. Poor guy, but it looks like he will live, at least. The tall folks have the situation in hand, no thanks to me. Belly, watch from above, alert me of any more goblins causing chaos in the town.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza casts a concerned glance at Shadrick, now laying in a slowly growing pool of his own blood. Hang on, Shaddy. We will mop up these guys and then get you stitched up.
"This just is not working very well. Let us switch it up a bit. How about a faceful of vitriol, Ugly?"
Acid Splash (vs. touch) at Commando, point blank shot
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
I've been forgetting my +1 attack vs. goblins
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Okay, focus, concentrate. One of these punches has got to hit something one of these times. Hopefully it's the goblin and not Narekk
Elizza aims once again at the goblin commando +1 Point Blank
Telekinetic Fist: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza moves up to keep close to Narekk and aims another invisible punch at the commando on his dog. "DIE, goblin scum!!!" The raven continues circling above the fray, cawing loudly.
Telekinetic Fist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

I'm waiting for a reliable internet connection here in Mexico. Things move S-L-O-W-L-Y here. I'll post as I'm able.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
On her turn, Ellizza throws another wimpy Telekinetic Fist at the nearest goblin in line of sight.
(Apply range modifier as needed)
Telekinetic Fist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Drat! I was going to soften him up for you, Narekk! You will have to take care of him by yourself!
I'll move after the goblins, but suffice to say she will attempt to stay clear of melee combat.

HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
I forgot, Ellizza doesn't have her crossbow with her. It's back at her camp.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
5 Telekinetic Fists remaining.
Don't forget Shadrick is Enlarged and Tobar's pistol is +1 until the end of 1 minute (possibly ending before the next encounter?)
Ellizza pauses and catches her breath. Marvelous decapitation technique, sir, I congratulate you! Shall we see what havoc is being wreaked down the street over there?
She reloads her crossbow (1 round) and heads in the direction of the chaos she senses from her raven familiar reconnoitering from overhead, attempting to stay close to the safety of her new goblin-smashing companions.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Telekinetic Fist is versus Touch
Ellizza looks around for any other living goblins and moves towards whichever looks the most injured, to finish it off.
If any are in range:
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza tries her trick again on the bard:
Telekinetic Fist: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza targets whichever goblin is still alive, moving within 30' and throwing a punch at thin air.
+1 for Point-Blank Shot, -4 for being engaged with an ally (if that is the case)
Telekinetic Fist: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 1
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Whiff! Boy, practice on a straw dummy is nothing like trying to smash a real live goblin!
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
I guess we're taking a break. I will be traveling a lot in the next few weeks, then moving to Mexico. I should still be able to post most days, but it may be sporadic until I'm settled. If I haven't posted in over a day, feel free to play for me.

HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
As Marcus vomits in the bushes, Narekk charges maniacally towards the goblins, and Tobar runs past, Ellizza quickly realizes her suggestion to regroup will likely go unheeded.
"Wait just a second!" She calls to Tobar. As he pauses to wait for Marcus, she runs up to him and without waiting for permission, touches the pistol in his hands. In the blink of an eye all the wear and corrosion fades, leaving it looking shiny and new.
Tobar's pistol: Magic Weapon (+1 attack and damage for 1 minute)
The following round
Then she turns back to the elf, who appears be enjoying himself mightily. She throws a handful of dust in his direction, which turns into magical sparkles that encircle him. His body expands and in a few seconds he stands over 10 feet tall.
Shadrick:
Enlarge Person (+2 Str, -2 Dex, extra -1 to AC and attack, you and your weapons are now Large, with 10' reach)
Ellizza's Level 1 spells are spent. She will attempt to position herself as best she can (20-30 feet) to use her Telekinetic Fist and Acid Splash to wear down the goblins, starting with any that are already wounded.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
I'm having trouble thinking of a single famous gnome actress. Lisa Simpson seems appropriate.

HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza is dazed, and takes a moment to take a few deep breaths and regain her composure. Her raven is by her side now, and they speak a few reassuring words to one another in the gnome tongue. The bird is jet black, over half Ellizza's height, and looks fairly ominous. She addresses the cleric:
"Thank you, sir, whoever you are. I have never had divine healing before, or ever needed it, but that feels good, like coming out of an icy gale to sit in front of a roaring fire."
"You all look like you are ready to run down there and disembowel the rest of those savages. I would prefer to keep my distance this time, but I happen to know a few spells that might assist you. Except for Narekk--he looks like he could make mincemeat of the lot of them without any help from the rest of us. We have the advantage now of a minute to prepare, so let us use it wisely."
Looking at Shadrick: "How would you like to be a giant, even if just for a minute?"
To Tobar: "I have a spell that will put your weapon in better then new condition for a short time, if you like."
"If you guys stay in front, I can pummel a few goblins at distance telekinetically. It's not as effective as Narekk's mammoth sword, but it might help a bit."
Feel free to recommend a better distribution of buffs. They're only a minute apiece, so we should wait until we get closer.

HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza is in shock for a moment with a gaping wound slashed across her entire torso. With a mighty mental effort she refocuses and sizes up the situation.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Goblins, pah! Ugly, brutish, but at least easy to kill. No time for anything fancy, I'm dead meat if I don't take care of this one right now! Now I'm sorry I didn't lug my crossbow from camp.
Belbagus circles overhead, cawing loudly in fury and frustration that he is unable to provide any help. As the goblin raises his notched and rusty blade for the killing blow, Ellizza quickly fumbles for her spell pouch, spreads her fingers and blasts a blinding rainbow of color into the face of the beast (and any other that happens to be within 15 feet). Then she backpedals 20 feet as the same goblin is scorched by Marcus (I think?).
Color Spray DC 16 Will negates:
Unconscious: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Blinded: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Then stunned for 1 round
She's not paying attention to Shadrick's song.
If the goblin saves, she will only move 5 feet back to avoid AoO.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza joins in the applause with the rest of the crowd and quickly finishes her meal.
"I'm ready to clear out of here."
She takes with her the bits of food she saved for the raven, and tags along with the others if and when they leave.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 versus DC 14.
Ellizza grins wickedly and winks at the others.

HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
The little gnome can't help but roll her eyes at Shadrick's offer of help. She may wish she were bigger, but she has learned how to handle herself among the tall folk, as all little people do if they want to survive and thrive in a world dominated by the larger races. Then her eyes grow wider as she notices Tobar flaunting an aged firearm. Now there's a rarity! I wonder if it actually works? It looks more likely to injure him than anyone else.
As the tavern breaks down into chaos, Ellizza sees a chance for some thoroughly gnomish mischief, which breaks through her previously glum mood. "Hazbah cassias metolotreta" she mutters under her breath and points at a nearby table (Mage Hand). As the original assailant's back is turned, a full mug of ale flies off the table and hits him in the back of the head. Not hard enough to shatter, unfortunately, but he does get a nice welt and drenched with beer. Several others nearby get slightly splashed as well. The mug clatters to the floor. "Hehehe!!!"
Her intention is that the group at her table sees what she has done, but no one else. She realizes that in a packed tavern it's likely that someone will notice anyway.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Everyone else seems to ignore or not to hear the offensive mutterings of the vulgar man, and Ellizza is happy to ignore him as well.
"I have nothing intriguing or mysterious to tell. I traveled with a group of merchant friends--but I am no merchant--to Magnimar, in search of arcane learning. I found little to interest me, and my friends wanted to take a side trip here to Sandpoint to see the festival. They are all unconscious in our camp just across the river, after squandering their profits last night on strong drink. I came along with them because I had nothing else to do, and to continue searching here, among the shops and stalls of the festival. I have not had any luck, and I am growing weary of my journey.

"Another lovely face?" Whose are the others, the demonic orc's and the yokel farmboy's? Ellizza snickers silently at the thought. Despite the group's polite salutations, she still feels out of place and does not share in their camaraderie. She digs in to her pint-size portion of salmon. Mmm, spicy! Better than I would have expected from this place. She saves a few scraps on the side of her plate to give to Belbagus later on. She can sense him perched on the roof, waiting patiently for her to exit.
Ellizza sighs inwardly as yet another rowdy crew enters the tavern.

HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Ellizza sat down for only a few minutes before she was confronted by local man who seemed offended by her presence. "Pardon me miss, I'd like to sit by my chums here. I just got up to get me a drink. If you don't mind?" His tone of voice did not leave much room for argument. Ellizza, flustered, gave up her seat and looked around. The only other open seat in the crowded tavern was in the middle of the group with the fearsome-looking character that she had noticed before.
My only other choice is to eat while standing. Maybe they won't pay any attention if I just slip in quietly to sit at that open chair.
Her hopes for anonymity are immediately dashed by the zealous innkeeper's implication that she is a member of the group at the table.
Oh well, they don't seem to be a bad bunch at least. I guess I can introduce myself.
She waits until the fawning elf answers the innkeeper, then addresses the group in general. "Pardon me for intruding, I was only looking for an open seat. My name's Ellizza, from Korvosa."

No problem, GM's discretion, of course. I will add traits very soon. I cannot post while at work during the day, so I typically post at night. I usually will post on the weekends as well, if it's warranted. And finally, hello everyone, thanks for inviting me on board, and I'm looking forward to a fun adventure! I have purposefully avoided any spoilers for Runelords for a long time, so this will all be a surprise for me.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
"What's serving for dinner today, please?" Ellizza asks the serving wench. Whatever the answer is, "I'll have a gnome portion please. What's that you say, it's on the house? I'm starting to like this festival after all!" She tips the lass two silvers and manages to find a seat at a dilapidated wooden table. She hopes the food isn't too terrible.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
EXCUSE ME!!! Ellizza squeaks, as she is nearly trampled by a group of boisterous tall folk passing near the tavern entrance. She is shocked by the presence of a towering brute with a monstrous visage. What a fright! He seems to be a little more cautious than the rest of this rowdy rabble, at least. Jolted out of her single-minded search, she suddenly becomes aware of her knawing hunger. She dodges a few more oblivious strangers and makes her way into the tavern to find something to eat.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
There's very little overlap between Marcus and I. I switched out Grease, which we both had, for Color Spray. I think we complement each other well.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
I'm wondering if instead of taking traits, I could ask for a custom bonus, that I think fits in well with Ellizza's backstory. I'd like to be able to cast Enlarge Person on her raven, and Reduce Person on herself, and be able to ride on her raven. The spells' duration is one minute per level, so I don't think it is too overpowered (she better keep Feather Fall handy!). Enlarge Person is for humanoids only, so per the rules it wouldn't work on the raven, it would take a special DM dispensation (for this case only, no other non-humanoids other than her familiar). What do you think?

HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Spells prepared today:
1 enlarge person (DC 15)
1 grease
1 magic weapon
0 acid splash
0 mage hand
0 resistance
A small mousy figure in a hooded black cloak threads her way through the crowd of legs around her. From her vantage point amidst the mingling people, she can't see who is speaking on the stage--even children obstruct her view. She darts, weaves, and rubbernecks to make out the placards of the various businesses and market stalls scattered around the square. A few perceptive villagers notice the large black raven flitting from rooftop to rooftop, but no one pays it any mind, or realizes that it follows the same path, only higher up, as the tiny gnome lost in the crowd.
Curse those drunken dolts for staying out all night. And curse me for thinking it would be a good idea to come with them from Korvosa.
Ellizza had arrived the day before with a group of friends and family. Her aim had been to acquire some new arcane learning or items, but even with the festival going on, there was little to discover. Even the iron filings were being sold at a higher price than back in Korvosa. The aim of the rest of her traveling group, mostly gnomes, was to party and to drink, apparently. They were still sleeping it off back in their smelly tent.
Ellizza continues wandering through the crowd, looking for a vendor of anything magical that she may have missed yesterday.
HP 9/9 | AC 14/14/11 | F+2 R+3 W+1 | Per+3 Init+3
Sorry, Ellizza was on vacation this weekend! Have I missed my chance? If you are in need of some other class, I can come up with something quickly.
Ellizza, gnome transmuter, is applying for Rise of the Runelords or Skull & Shackles, or possibly others as well. Being somewhat new, I'd prefer a core rules campaign, and I don't mind a large party.
