"Probably can't hurt and I don't think we have anything on this level just rushing to introduce itself," Elidal nods at Simeon. Sheathing her sword she begins to ascend the ladder once more.

In my experience, depression sadly doesn't even need a reason - sometimes it just is. All I can really advise is to stick with your meds and try to let the people that care about you know when things get bad (which I also know is easier said than done at times).

No matter what, we've made 5k posts and that's not a milestone easily reached by most games on the forums. Here's hoping we can make it another 5k :)

"Erm...I think I'll stick to my sword and the blessings Iomedae grants me," Elidal responds, looking uncomfortable at the suggestion of carrying a lit torch.

"Well...let's hope that there aren't many more of those lurking around!" Elidal breathes as Emmett cuts the golem down for good. "Since we've already made plenty of noise should we just continue to see what lies on this floor before going up the ladder?" she asks as she peeks out of the door and into the room beyond.

Elidal gasps and ducks under the golem's wild and vicious swing, thankful that they've got the door frame partially blocking the way. She quickly recovers and offers a return swing, hoping to finish the thing off.

With the three 'guides' now taken care of Elidal focuses her attention fully on the golem, hoping to bring it down before it gets another lucky swipe in on Emmett or herself.

"Blast! Try and keep it disoriented!" Elidal calls as she aims another swing at one of the remaining 'guides'.

Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15

Elidal will aim for another guide if she can, but if not she'll swing at the golem instead.

"Right!" Elidal calls as she hops down from the ladder and draws her longsword, before moving up and attempting to cut one of the guides out of the air.

On mobile so can't see or access the map, but Elidal will try to aim for the nearest guide if room allows.

Not particularly wishing to discover just who or what lies beyond the door just yet, Elidal quickly motions towards the trapdoor in the ceiling and attempts to move up the ladder and open it...

Stealth: 1d20 - 9 ⇒ (10) - 9 = 1

...but her broken armor rattles and jangles even louder than usual, rendering any attempt to move quietly for naught.

"So...highest point and work our way back down or shall we see what lies beyond the door?" Elidal whispers to the others.

"Hopefully this one isn't just an inane shortcut to somewhere we could reach with an extra minute or two of walking," Elidal comments dryly as she conjures a small light onto the point of her longsword and readies to head up the stairs unless someone else opts to proceed first.

"This room looks to be right up your alley Simeon," Elidal comments with a chuckle as she looks around.

"I agree...though at this point I'm hoping the Count might be able to shed some light on the situation, if he's still alive," Elidal nods. "But for our sakes I hope there aren't anymore traps like that one before we find him!"

"Didn't we see that name in connection with Vorstag and Grine?" Elidal ventures as she cautiously begins making her way across the bridge. "A supplier or some such? If so, then this is all the more curious...and sinister."

"I suppose you are right..." Elidal responds, still looking a bit skeptical. "And hopefully that summoning was just a one-time thing. But still, such an odd set of terms..." she mutters as she follows across the bridge after the others.

"Wait...what? What just happened?" Elidal blinks, looking nonplussed by the surprise but fortuitous turn of events.

"In the name of the Inheritor, go back to the hell that spawned you!" Elidal cries, her eyes flashing with a divine light as she raises her crossbow and fires once more.

Attack (Light Crossbow; Divine Favor, Judgement: Justice): 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Elidal hesitates, crossbow in her hands. "What do we do then? Flee or try to fight?" she calls to Jaru as she taps a small bit of power to bolster herself for combat.

Elidal will cast Divine Favor on herself.

Elidal's eyes grow wide with surprise and disbelief as what looks like some sort of...fallen angel...appears in the air above the bridge. "Emmett, get out of there!" she cries as she draws her crossbow and attempts to fire off a shot, hoping to distract it.

Attack (Light Crossbow): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

"How about Emmett or I tie a rope to ourselves and cross first - we're the heaviest and would need the most strength to pull back up if we were to slip," Elidal suggests. "Once across, perhaps we can tie it off at both ends and rig some sort of safety system for the rest of us?"

Bit of a convoluted solution, but Elidal is basically suggesting to make a zipline of sorts that each person can tie themselves to as they cross, that way if they slip or the bridge breaks they're still anchored to something.

"Well, nothing for it I suppose except to move on," Elidal finally says once it looks like Simeon is finished poking around. "You said that wand will put out flames, Jaru? That could be..."

"...useful. Best take it with us," she adds.

Turning her sights now to the bridge leading forward she waits for Emmett to lead the way as usual before falling into step not far behind him and Sterne.

"Damn!"

Hoping to save her armor from being completely destroyed, Elidal aims a powerful swing at the rust monster before falling back yet again.

Attack vs. Rust Monster (+1 Mithral Longsword; Destruction Judgement, Inspire Courage, Power Attack): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 2 = 19

As one of the creatures closes in on her, Elidal takes a step back and drops her crossbow to the ground. Hoping to try and take the thing down before it eats through her armor and everything else, she draws her longsword.

Taking a 5 foot step back, dropping the crossbow and then drawing her longsword as a move action.

As an FYI I'm working night shift the next three nights (tonight, Friday, Saturday) and sleeping during the day so my posting rates will likely drop during the time. I'll try and catch up/keep up as best as I can but feel free to bot Elidal as needed to keep things moving along.

Elidal's complexion pales to match Emmett's as he shouts out his warning. Thinking quickly, she falls back a pace as she draws her crossbow. "You will not slow us down!" she cries as she takes aim at the one that Sterne charges towards.

Attack (Light Crossbow; Judgement - Destruction, Into Melee): 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 4 = 4
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Stepping back and drawing crossbow as a move action, declaring Judgement as a swift action and then firing. Forgot that I do not have a proper reach weapon; will have to fix that next time we're in town :\

Elidal whistles as she takes in the extent of the damage to the workshop, taking care not to touch anything and risk adding another hole to the current decor. "How on earth would a person survive a blast strong enough to shatter the wall?"

"Yes, it's possible there might be some sort of guardian set to only allow the Count to pass," Elidal nods in agreement. "Should we try securing a rope on this end and then tying it to someone before they cross? Awkward I know, but I'd rather be safe than sorry - unless someone wants to try chucking a rock over there first and see if that stirs anything up."

"I guess there really is only one way to proceed now," Elidal muses after the group's quick return to the living quarters of the castle turn up nothing of interest. She looks to Emmett. "Shall we? Er, once it's apparent that that bridge is safe," she adds quickly.

"Oh...that's odd, but I suppose it makes getting around a little easier?" Elidal comments as they emerge into what is clearly the dining room. "But listen, I hear water - does this lead close to the river?" she continues as they come upon another hidden door in the northwest corner of the room.

"And um...no, not at the moment," she finally adds with an awkward glance at the strange, persistent golem.

Elidal peers around the library and the smoking room with some interest. "I'd say that some of these books would give a better idea of what the Count has been up to." She glances at some of the names stamped on the book bindings. "And where his interests lie..."

As Emmett spots the concealed door, the inquisitor nods approvingly. "Good eye there Emmett!"

I think he was out of town until yesterday so hopefully we'll see something from him fairly soon :)
