Seems useful.
Indeed. Personally I'd never touch the game, if only because of a moral stand point. Garrit always came of as some what of a duche in my eyes, all talk no bite. Openly bashing game developers, while he has failed to make anything of relevance in the last twenty years.
The fact that he used kick starter to fund a project, while living in a mansion with a trophy hall that would put Batman to shame, just rubbs me the wrong way.

Given the freakish hyperbole against a company making a profit these days that could be a PR/marketing problem that would complicate or negate the advantages while it adds to administrative costs. I don't think it would be much of a problem. Games such as skyrim, fall out and Vampire bloodlines, are famous for depending on their modding community and if anything their praised for it. I think people know that no one is holding a gun to these poor programmers heads and demanding them to wrap up 10 mods in one month if they want to live. Their work of love and devotion, which ultimately often makes the game a thousand times better than it would be without them.
The only grief I see myself is having to learn how to use unity... I just learned how to use mudbox damn it, and now I have to learn another one? Ah well... Simply the way of things I guess.

Modding is slowly becoming easier and easier as the years go on. Why there are entire worlds made out of sheer love and dedication. I recently began getting int modding myself recently through games like DOTA 2 and of course the king of modding communities, Skyrim.
But then it struck me... If Dota 2 could do it. Why couldn't a MMO? What if Pathfinder added something like the steam workshop, where you could add uniqe items that do not exist in the game. Perhaps you want a ancient rune blade, forged from the bone of a dragon?
Perhaps something simple as a family emblem on a piece of garment?
Or what if someone actually went to the trouble to rig and animate a playable goblin?
The possibilities are endless!
Now as much as I'd love a a uniqe blade devoted to Sarnrae, I do see the problems with such a thing in a MMO like pathfinder. I wouldn't want to see the game flooded with nude mods, or worse yet Starbucks Inns like Archage... That was what lost my interest in that game.
But what if Goblinworks monitored the mods? Making sure they didn't break the lore or immersion. Or you know crossed any other unplesant boundries.
Those deemed acceptable would be sent a activation code perhaps and the item could then be acessed in game.
Or maybe it could work something like the steam Green light thing? Where anyone can submit their work, but only those voted up by the community is allowed to be added.
I would never expect to see this at launch, but it is a fun idea.

We aren't going to level any faster, gain any more attack power or loot, gain any merit badges, we just get to have an alt without the $15 a month cost
I am willing to pay, but not to be robbed. after the first year, I'd expect to have lost nearly 200$ just because I wanted to play an alt. That is assuimg I settle with one. If everyone else had to do this. I would accept it. But they don't.
And I am right there with you Mor. Until I hear that this is changed, my friends and guild will not be playing the game. Even if I hear favorable reviews about it, I shall discurage anyone I come across to support it.
I am not saying this to be petty or mean spirited. Give me the same chance you gave everyone else goblinworks, even less for all I ask for is the Destiny twin perk. And I shall be amongst your most loyal followers.
Until then, this is good bye.

Imbicatus wrote: I do think that GW should allow players to buy extra training time for alts to train those alts in parallel instead of in series. But I think they would be insane to allow someone to buy destinies twin outside of the kickstarter. It's basically the same as buying a lifetime sub for your alt as long as you keep paying for your main. If you start at day one and play for years (the target demographic) then that benefit is worth several hundred dollars. Even if you are paying $100 for the privilege, GW is losing money on the deal. It was a great bonus for the Kickstarter to succeed and make the target $1,000,000 in funding needed to accelerate the release of the game. Even so, GW will be losing money from each of us who has the benefit. If they allow people to pledge via the Paizo store after the fact then the reward should still be available if you pledge at that time. But to buy it from the GW store al-a-carte once the game goes live should not be an option.
You shouldn't have to have two accounts to benefit from an alt. But being able to train more than one at once is not a right, and it doesn't make finical sense to offer it for sale at a flat fee.
Yeah funny how you folks keep saying that. Yet I've not seen one post that says. "I didn't donate at the greenlight thing, and I think it makes perfect sense." Note that any that comes after this I shall dismiss as a troll.
I am not unwilling to pay. But likewise I do not like to be robbed compared to the rest of the community. They would lose money? So they will they when my guild decide that pathfinder is to pay to win and don't even try it out. The new everquest could hold some promise.
I am just saying putting such a big crippling disadvantage on us, dosen't warm the heart if you know what I am saying.
Nihimon wrote: @MrSavarius, I would also suggest you look at it like a Stock Offering. Some people bought shares of Google at $85, others at $700. It's not reasonable to expect that this kind of thing shouldn't happen. And were willing to pay just like anyone else so I fail to see the point your making.
Well that clearly seems to be our only option at this time and I am more than a little discuraged at it. So is my guild which intended to move to pathfinder. None of us knew of the greenlight thing until it was over, but all of us like to play alts, if only to spice up the RP now and then.

Regardless, it is evidently a hot item for consideration. That is why we are discussing the topic, to make our voices heard in hopes that we will be given the option. If the option is given to buy the destiny twin perk, then I will buy it and you shall hear no more of me. If not then my purchase of pathfinder may be under consideration, if I am to start of with such a disadvantage. I feel very much the same. Not even just at being at a disadvantage. But what if I roll a warrior and suddenly realize I don't like the playstyle? Well good thing I have a mage alt! No wait I don't have the destiny perk, so never mind! I guess I am screwed on that one. Nope. You still get the benefit of any Base Attack, Hitpoints, and defenses you have bought during your time as a warrior, those wont go away. If you want to become a mage, you just start learning mage skills and abilites. Yes, you won't be as advanced in magic as someone who started as a mage. But you will be much tougher than the mage and you will likely be competent enough to be competitive as a mage within a few weeks of training. Yes but if I had a destiny twin I'd make a meele and spell caster to see which I'd prefer. Rather than being gimped and forced to play something I now don't enjoy because I spent most of my training points for the month.

I couldn't afford to throw money into the greenlight thing when it occured, but Like mrsavarius, I like to play around with alts and this almost seems like I am being punished because of that fact. 15$ per month? Okay, as we all know MMO's are usally along the long term, so lets make a calculation here shall we? I played WoW for five years. Now I had had over ten characters there, but lets say I only have two here. I'd be paying roughly 900$ for my alt, that is 900$ a less than most on this forum has to pay. And like I said that is if I want to limit myself to one character.
Also I am fairly sure to wager if most of you didn't pay for the greenlight thing, you'd not be standing this firmly against others gaining equal footing. Not a advantage you say? then why not give it to everyone?
Wouldn't this just fuel godmodding? There are already people running about claiming to be ancient demigods in most games where you can just play a human. Imagine what it would be like if you could actually become a demigod as you say?
This sounds like a lot of fun!

From my experience you'd easily catch evil characters with our without a alignment system. Even then I have often caught people in hypocritical ideals and behavior, even though they had a good alignment.
Sadly in the end of the day, the man behind the Paladin is often greedy and selfish. Rarely living up to the role IC or OOC he likes to potray. In fact in most of my experience, good players often tell tale of good deeds. But outside of those tails, refuse to as much lend a penny to a friend in need.
Likewise evil characters often try to pull off deception with the subtly of a brick to the face.
Not of course saying it can't be done. Heck, back in wow, I managed to trick people into thinking my warlock was a okay guy, with good intentions. Right up to the point where I stabbed them in the back.
I also did something similar in SWTOR where they could see I was dark side, but still my weave of lies was enough to convince them and my logic had them pausing to consider.
in the end it all comes down to the individual player, not the game.
