Never heard of a dark father of the forge, however, unless anyone sees the mushrooms we are looking for its best if we move on.

Edward slowly walks back down the hallway and turns to the right looking for anything out of place.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Unless there is anything out of the ordinary he goes to the first door on the left, if it is unlocked he turns the handle and kicks the door open, making sure to stay out of the room.

"Sorry bout that Stinky, yeah let's check out the other room next to the hat closet"

Edward walks over to the door and looks for any traps or tracks.

Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Survival:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

If nothing seems out of place he will turn the knob and kick the door open, just in case nasty crap falls again.

"Well there doesn't seem to be anymore in here."
Edward walks up the hallway to the north very cautiously scanning for monsters, tracks, traps, and struggles to hear anything over the chattering of the gnomes.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Initiative:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Hearing Stinky's shouts Edward rushes into the next room and stands outside of the door, "Stinky, get out of there!". Seeing the small space and that Stinky said it was under the bed he commands Charcoal to attack it.

Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Charcoal's Attack:
Bite:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Edit: to confirm the critical 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

With stars still blurring his vision Edward heaves the anvil off of him and begins to try and stand up, he stumbles slighty and eventually rights himself. "For the love of Gozreh, this is a dangerous place. Let's find that god forsaken mushroom and get out of here."

Edward stumbles out of the room and rests against the wall, while his vision becomes less and less blurry.

"You seem to be having some trouble with that door, Dug. Lemme help"

Getting a bit of a running start, Edward shoulder rushes the door.

Strength check to break down the door: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Edward nods to Stinky, "It appears he is okay."

Edward moves over to Jonas, picks up the discarded tome, dusts off Jonas a bit, and tells him, "There are probably safer places to read that."

DM:

Spoiler:
Do I know of any ointments or balms that can help dug with his cough?
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

To Jonas:

Spoiler:
Just in case Jonas' did not get Dug's warning. Edward repeats it to Jonas, "Don't touch the Fungus on the books, Dug says it looks dangerous."

Edward takes a look around the old library, paying special attention for any monsters on the ceiling.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
If he doesn't see anything he says, "It doesn't seem the Mushroom is here, perhaps we should move along?"

Feeling somewhat better after being healed by Jonas. "Hmmm, lemme have a look, Stinky" Edward limps over to the anvil and inspects the holes.

Craft Armor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
BTW vacation was a lot of fun :)

Edward finishes tying off a makeshift bandage and seeing the light return and the threat eliminated he limps over to Jonas, shows him his bruising, and asks "Jonas, anything you can do for this?".

Edward exhales a sigh upon hearing the other monster is dead and heads out of the chapel far enough to get out of the unnatural darkness. He whistles for Charcoal to follow and begins tending his wounds. "If anyone needs some bandaging, I'll be out front."

Command: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Edward sighs as his spell doesn't work. "There is another one?" Using some of the remains of the monster, Edward commands Charcoal to attack the other one. Edward will follow Charcoal.

Spoiler:
Edward:
Attack command:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Charcoal:
Bite:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 : 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 : 1d2 ⇒ 1(miss chance)

EDIT: I get the feeling Charcoal just stares at me.

After being released from the grips of the monster, Edward wavers a bit and says "Thanks!" and remembers he may have a way to remove the darkness. Edward begins channeling a simple amount of natural energies.

Edward casts Light.

I just realized I am in the room when I said I was staying in the hall. Weird.
Edward commands Charcoal to help him and struggles to break free.

"Ack!?"
If Edward can see his attacker:

Spoiler:
Edward commands Charcoal to attack and swings at the creature with his club.
Edward:
Command: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Club: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

If Edward cannot see his attacker:
Spoiler:
Edward attempts to reverse the grapple.
Grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Edward seeing most of the others enter the chapel through the double doors takes up a position so he can see down both hallways and keep an eye on Jonas.

[b]Perception:[/p]1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Edward enjoys the beautiful weather while scanning the courtyard and absentmindedly patting charcoal's neck.
He feels something gooey on his hand, "Yuck! I am going to have to give you a bath later, Charcaol."
Edward wipes the spider ichor on the ground and looks to see how his comrades are fairing inside.

"See anything interesting, Jonas?" "I think that cloud kind of looks like a rabbit." Edward bends over to pat Charcoal on the neck while he scans the rear of the group, keeping an eye out for trouble.

Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Pondering the wisdom of letting our wounded lead the way. Edward keeps Charcaol by his side and silently brings up the rear keeping an eye out for any trouble.

Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Edward nods. "You sure you want to do that? You seem a bit under the weather."

The heal result was a 19.

"Hmmm, that may not be a very good idea Dug. Although, if anyone else has a grappling hook, I have some rope." "If not we should probably start searching elsewhere"
Edward contemplates the dead body outside:Did the wounds look like they could have been caused by the spider?

Edward wipes some of the spider gore off of Charcoal and after inspecting her wounds waves his hands over it while calling on natural energies to heal her wounds.

Charcoal's Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Edit: Wow, now that's a save.

Edward contemplates whether Charcoal will need that spider gore wiped off later, or if she will be able to clean herself sufficiently...

Edward and Charcoal continue their assault on the eight-legged beast.

Edward's Attack:
Club(1-handed): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 : 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Charcoal's Full Attack:

Edward continues swinging at the spider, and tries to distract it from Layf. Charcoal continues attacking the spider.

Edward's Attack:

Claw:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7:1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Hearing the commotion Edward draws his club while moving into the room searching for the source of excitement. If the spider is within striking distance from the ground he continues moving to within melee range and attacks and commands charcoal to attack.
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

If the spider is within striking distance of the ground:
Edward's Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Charcoal's Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Charcoal's Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Waiting for them to search the upstairs, Edward keeps an eye on the courtyard in case something heard the noise of the door and comes to investigate.
Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

"Lemme give it a try, Layf", Edward says.
Edward takes a couple steps back and rushes forward slamming his shoulder into the door.
Strength:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Edward readies his shield and keeps his club stowed, "Hold on a sec, lemme see if the animal that got that guy is in there. I may be able to calm it down a bit." Edward looks around for tracks and then peers inside the door.

"Resting is probably a good idea."

"You sure you're feeling okay, Jonas?", Edward grabs something that Jonas might find interesting off the shelf and offers it to him, try to help him realize he still has scavenging to do.

Then Edward checks on the Fox and tries to see if it will be receptive to training:

"Hold still, Jonas. Lemme take a look at you."

"Well, Carnider, we're looking for Rat's Tail, it's supposedly some kind of pickled root Laurel needs to make a cure for the sickness ailing the townsfolk of Falcon's Hallow. Laurel told us Ulizma might have some, or at least she might know where we could find some."

"I hope there is some around here somewhere."
Edward begins searching for the root taking as long as he needs(I'll take 20 if allowed) otherwise:

Is there any sign she packed before she left?
Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Edward seeing that Layf is helping Jonas nods and says to Dug, "Only one way to find out". Edward walks back to the door of the hut and kneels down to calm Charcoal and calls to the gnome, "I apologize for being rude, come yourself and see that we did not harm the witch. The same cannot be said for her pot."

Edward takes another swing at the pot.

Edward points at the dirty bedraggled looking gnome pointing a crossbow in his direction, "Stay where you are, Ulizmila was dead when we arrived and my friend is currently being devoured by her blasted infernal cauldron. You move any closer or shoot and my bear, Charcoal, will attack you." Edward draws his club and turns his attentions back to the inside of the hut.

Edward goes, "Hmmm." and gently opens the door while saying, "Hello? Is anyone home?"

Edward says, "You know, sneaking about the outside of someone's home isn't very polite and only increases our chances of offending the Witch."
Edward walks up to the rickety plank door and gives it a gentle knock, not sure of how much such a rickety door can take.
