For the SF, I photocopied the Pregens right out of the book

it'll surely become widely available online soon enough after this weekend
HWAskins wrote: My local game store has given me a slot per session for either SFS or PFS. My question, do we know what maps are going to be used? I would like to order them prior to the game and have time to get them in. If they are custom maps, would it be possible to get the images 3-4 days prior so that I can print them out? Custom maps for sure
Im really excited
This mission looks like a lot of fun, good amount of adventure and combat for FRPGD
Seems like a bit more prep work for the GM than usual… but overall a good one
Im kinda glad its a departure from the Skitters

That depends on the definition of "trying."
If going against the meta of a given class counts as "trying" (such as making a Cleric into a Dex-based martial character), then it's actually much easier than you think, especially if players value flavor over raw potential.
Not to mention, monsters winning ties, having overall better/unique abilities, and being all-around harder compared to PF1, combined with the tight math, means even running around with a 14 in your primary attribute makes combat or non-combat situations significantly harder.
As I initially mentioned
I THOUGHT we were going to be Circus performers... silly me, in a Circus themed AP, HA!
So I used the Staff Acrobat archetype from the AP to balance against the Shelyn Priest- Glaive doubles as a staff/pole arm- so long as I had the requisite stats, I could use the Acrobat stuff as my performance AND my attack options
the heal spells would be a nice static base line for healing needed
Well-
*spoilers*
a SOLID no frills Cleric was needed cause there wasn't much Circus going on compared to all the freaking combat encounters!

Could it just have been a series of bad rolls? Sarcasm does not become you, nor is it endearing. I'm not sure what's happening here
but it can stop
I wasn't offended by the original post and took the jest in stride
I openly admitted I made foible errors in my judgment. I have no further need to rebuff the poster

You are right of course,
I didn't want to get too involved in my terrible numbers choices; I was looking more for holistic sage advice and suggestions about possible reproach- which everyone was very kind to offer and show me the error of my ways
I think I really just needed to be talked off a ledge
I appreciate your advice and attention to detail!
TheGentlemanDM wrote: Note that I did just release my Cleric guide which might offer some options.
Warpriests demand a lot to be functional compared to other classes. For a Fighter, 18 STR is pretty much all you need to be functional, regardless of feats, but Warpriests have to make every pick count.
Switching over to Strength to make proper use of the glaive is the base minimum standard. After that, you're working with a selection of spells and domains that aren't great for Warpriests...
All up, I don't think Shelyn brings enough to make a Warpriest function like a Warpriest. You can still be a very effective support healer, but not much of a frontliner.
Taking Champion Dedication could help a bit, so there is that option.
Thank you!
I have been looking over this today and I see a lot of glaring mistakes on my part
as others have mentioned, in this edition, there needs to be a more dedicated approach to which cleric version I should be playing
If you are playing EC
IMO, from Experience, Optimize your character FIRST
then... slowly build into your character the performance stuff as you level
I didn't and I'm struggling so much with my character being useful at all the to group
I want to quit or have my character killed off because being unoptimized is the worst in this new system :(
My home group opted for Extinction Curse AP
we did our character building with the intention of having performers first(at least I did)
I built a Dex balanced Sheyln Cleric (Warpriest)
thinking in the circus I'd be a vaulter, pole acrobat and be able to balance out with Healing spells and helpful focus spells in the off play
After 2 chapters of play, it became CLEAR the AP is just like a typical Society series of missions. My unoptimized thematic Cleric sucked and whiffed on nearly all spell castings and medicine rolls, only because my Dex was balanced was I not summarily slaughtered in the first several turns.
The Druid, Monk and Sorceress all bested my in medicine, healing and religion checks

Please let us know what designs you want to see! Can you design 4x &5x ? I'm not sure if your question is sincere, but to clarify, our designs work for all the sizes Amazon offers.
Amazon does not offer 4x and 5x sizes. Yes, we can and will ask them, but we have no control over the outcome. What we can do is use the Amazon Apparel store to know what designs and styles are popular. Not just though anecdotes on forums, but through actual sales. We might then work with a partner like Offworld Designs to have them produced in the larger sizes that our community needs. It is a longer timeline for those who need larger sizes, but the Amazon Apparel store is an excellent way for us to get the designs right, first. Does that make sense? I am sincere
I’m 6’4” and 350 pounds. I want 4x size shirts and 5x hoodies.
You’ll forgive me my suspicions and pointed remarks; it wasn’t that long ago when you all chose ninja division against customer anecdotal feedback...

He was talking about the RSP GM boons for this one. You can only get credit for those at an RSP supported store.

3) since many races are locked out, as a SFS GM or organizer, I'd like to know what is actually playable- Many of these are "Chase" boons are not even announced until weekends after a con or big regional event
What is a "chase" boon? And what connection would it have to being announced after a Con? Correct
I was lumping in Special Mega con boons and RSP select boons in together as "Chase"
there is no doubt there are people chasing after several of these boons as evidence in the trading forum
from the gentry perspective, these seem to be treated as surprises and are suddenly playable at the table before many players even knew they were available...
again, reinforcing my interest in a codified list of what's available

Nefreet wrote: Edris "TOME" Rook wrote: 1) legacy races are unlocked, not a huge deal, but those related boons are no longer 'special' On the contrary, those boons are the most sought after, because instead of granting access, you now get a +2 to any single stat that is 14 or lower.

No race is overpowered, to my knowledge. The Design Team does plenty of playtesting (and even crowd-sourced playtesting). And it's not up to Starfinder Society to dictate what Starfinder publishes.
Starfinder Society embraces the Cantina feel. It's even been highlighted in blogs. It's vastly more open than Pathfinder Society v1 was. All very good counter points
I hadn't considered the bonus after the fact to legacy race; I was moreso looking at it as losing the "exclusivity"
Stat bumps after creation are indeed valuable!
as far as my remark about play testing, anecdotally, i've been a part of many games and RPG projects to see a pattern... maybe I"m wrong
and
yes, I agree it's is becoming very "Cantina" and I look forward to that expanding
I just wish it didn't come at the cost (IMO)of exclusionary vs exclusive
Nefreet wrote: We don't share which scenarios grant rewards (to avoid "Chronicle fishing"), but off the top of my head the races that can be unlocked with public boons include:
Bantrid | Barathu (Early Stage) | Bear (Uplifted) | Bolida | Borai | Brakim | Damai | Draelik | Dragonkin | Elebrian | Embri | Ferran | Formian | Ghibrani | Haan | Ikeshti | Kalo | Khizar | Maraquoi | Nuar | Osharu | Ryphorian | Sarcesian | Skittermander | SRO | Stellifera | Verthani | Vlaka | Witchwyrd | Woioko | Wrikreechee
You have an interesting point
however I'm not sure it holds up
One of the biggest aspects of Organized Play is the Reward system
with power comes responsibility, right?
so what if someone is chasing down mission 101-99 "search for the scoured life day" to unlock a Wookie
they still have to play right? and still have to play other missions to level it up
I didnt even know about 6 of these
2 of which were time sensitive and can't be acquired now

Kevin Willis wrote: You can divide the race boons into three broad categories:
1. Boons you get for GMing at a convention.
2. Boons you can "earn" by playing or GMing a certain number of (any) scenarios - usually from the Retail Support Program.
3. Boons that are rewards from a specific scenario.
There's no problem with having a list of the sources for the first two categories, but I don't know that anyone keeps such a list up anymore.
The problem with the third category is that simply knowing that a boon exists on the chronicle may influence a player's actions in the scenario.
See,
I don't know that the latter half is true, from the limited boons I have, no moral dilemma or decision is relative to the access
I'm interested for a number of reasons,
1) legacy races are unlocked, not a huge deal, but those related boons are no longer 'special'
2) some boons are directly tied to how many sessions you GM at an RSP Store... not impossible, but super difficult if RSP stores are limited and you cannot get slotted as a GM
3) since many races are locked out, as a SFS GM or organizer, I'd like to know what is actually playable- Many of these are "Chase" boons are not even announced until weekends after a con or big regional event
4) Character audits- I don't want to stop a table because someone may or not be pulling a fast one, and I don't have access to a list of allowable
5) Finally... if there is't going to be a list of unlocked (Maybe there is)
Why lock out any at all at this point ? Why not do a better job at play testing and building these in the first place, instead of waiting to see if players can "Break" a build

And if they are not legal, when will they become a legal option. Nothing else matters to me at this point.
:)
I've heard several regional leaders talking that this os one of the next to get made, but it will be a challenge to acquire
possibly like the Uplifted bear
So
I'm looking for a collected list of Playable races INCLUDING boon granted, with notation as to that boons origin
Thanks
So I opted to just roll with it and take my character that I intended to play; it’s a scoured stars “veteran”level two sniper soldier
By the time the shop opened where we were playin, 3 dropped out, one person changed characters and then another new player came in
So our party ended up being me, the sniper, an operative Xeno seeker, a Technomanser and a guardian heavy armor soldier
It was perfect for the group, and we were all much more relaxed, confident and able to roleplay for the mission !
Looking like so far one unsubstantiated vote for mystic healer...
“Haming it up”
Im Fine with
Making players sit on a stage, mic’ed up and on a live stream -no

add me to the confused dog headtilt of not knowing what this is supposed to mean
Overdoing it with production, podcast hook up, cameras and microphones, twitch live stream channel... pontificating for grandiose attention et al...
Recommendation for useful characters in the live exploration extreme
So this is kind of a big deal
every time this gets run in my region, One of the VL’s or VA‘s always wants it run LIVE. and I’m not down for that

Here’s my pinch
my two favorite characters are now out of tier. the current group signed up for the mission are 4 ranged striker soldier/operatives and an envoy “leader”
I would literally need to net deck a character build tonight so that I can have it ready and playable by tomorrow
suggestions?
Hilary Moon Murphy wrote: All this aside... If you play for a while in Starfinder Society, you will earn boons that open up other races. Even some of the legacy ones! Some boons will come off scenario chronicles. Other boons can be earned from doing things like playing 6 games as a player.
Does this help?
Hmm
It does... a little
but with over $160 worth of source materials (3 books)
surely another half dozen races could be made available .... ?
(Grumblegrumblegrumble)
thank you all for your input
Thank you
Some people have learning/Cognative disabilities
So when a Publishing Company (who, IMO should know better) writes its rules in an obtuse way, (Rules by Omission) it’s extreemly frustrating and difficult.
Poor customer service to say the least.
I have asked a number of times and can't seem to get a straight answer
in Star Finder Society...
have the available races been expanded beyond the core book?
I do not want your observation on Boon exceptions
Can I choose a Race from Alien Archive or Pact Worlds
YES or NO
if Yes... what is the SFS legal List ?
