Unfortunately I am going to have to drop too, but I can at least stick around till the party gets somewhere safe. I have been convinced to run an AP (possibly 2) for some people here because their DM jumped ship, and originally they were gonna have me as a DM anyway. This is going to eat up my time, so I am going to have to bow out myself. I am deeply sorry but I really can't stretch myself super thin either :( It has nothing to do with the party either so don't feel that way. Like I said though I can at least stick with you all till you are out of the sewer as it were.
As he raises his hammer yet again, Edgar mutters to himself. "Stupid undead getting in my way, stupid hellknights...grahhh" He brings his hammer down as hard as he can on the last skeleton. Attack Roll vs Skellie (with Inspiring Command/Bless) - Attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17, Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Tapping his foot impatiently, Edgar muttesr "Come on Rhys come on...your ass better get back here safe or I swear to the gods I will beat the stupid out of you." Edgar keeps watch as best he can, constantly scanning the area, warhammer and shield at the ready. Perception Check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
When Edgar leaves the tunnel he quickly draws his shield and warhammer. "Come on folks, lets form up. Safety in numbers and all that nonsense. This is not going to be a cakewalk." He quickly stows the 3 potions into a belt pouch, and then draws his Everburning Torch and hands it to whomever looks like they could hold it. "Here, this torch is one of those magical ones. Someone want to hold it for us?" He then quickly scans the area. Perception Check - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Edgar leans back slightly. "I am still not sure exactly what we are to do. 'Take back the Night' sounds fine and dandy but what would be our first goal? Establish a safe base of operations? Scout patrols? Rescue people?" Edgar pauses and looks at each person sternly. "I personally think our best course of action would be two things. Secure a safe base where we can all stay, preferrably hidden from the hellknights and secondly secure some supplies for us. Once we have that we can proceed."
"The law is supposed to protect the people, but more often then not it currently allows for atrocities to be commited." Edgar looks meaningfully at Rhys before continuing. "I believe that the system can work, and has worked, but in its current form it cannot sustain itself. It needs to be changed, and unfortunately going through the system was not working. So, it seems to me that we need to take steps." Edgar takes another sip of his water, and then sighs. "Looks like in order to fix the system I am gonna have to break it first." Edgar grins humorlessly, and pats his warhammer.
Edgar glances over at the rest of the group. "I know quite a few guards who are alot like me, only less likely to actually do what I have done. I can convince them to turn a blind eye to most activities we may be doing. Also, the commander of the guard herself, Durotas Saria Roccin, hates the hellknights with a passion but by the same token she is smart enough not to piss them off." Edgar sits back and sits a bit of water and waits to see if anyone has any comments.
Looking Rhys straight in the eye, Edgar frowns and then smirks himself. "Well I am not a 'puppet' anymore. So lets just eat and 'rekindle' our friendship shall we?" He starts to eat then, glancing around the table at everyone else and seeing if he can figure anything out about them. Perception Check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 to see if he can notice anything specific about his new...coworkers
Edgar barks a short laugh. "The only reason the emblem is still on my armor is I don't feel like buying a new set as this one is quite servicable. And yes Rhys, you went a little crazy, running off with rebels and doing who knows what." Edgar glares for a moment at Rhys before going back to his water.
Edgar stares down at Rhys. "We were friends, then you went all crazy on me. Regardless, I have been keeping your ass out of the fire for the last several months, might as well do it in person now." Edgar pulls up a chair, and orders a glass of water. He is dressed in an armored coat that has the symbol of the guard on it, and carries a large warhammer and shield. He also has a longbow, and a pack of arrows.
The door of the tavern slams open, and a gruff voice is heard muttering. The door is slammed shut almost as if in anger. A man, black hair cut short, is standing in the doorway with a scowl on his face He quickly looks around the bar until he sees Janiven. Walking over to the table he quickly notes the others sitting at it, and then his eyes settle on Rhys, and his expression goes from anger to confusion. "Rhys?! What on earth are YOU doing here?!"

Honestly when I was building him I totally forgot that I HAD the +2 bonus for being human. My brain was stuck in 3.5 dnd mode So I kinda tacked on the +2 after the fact.

Pff I aint going ranged :P And no, I built Edgar to be more of the front line / tracker sort of guy. Just wait till I take Favored Community Westcrown ;)
This is a paired character that goes with Patchers character Rhys. We decided to make a duo of people who know each other for fun. Background of Edgar: Growing up in Westcrown, Edgar always understood the way of the world. Or at least, as a child, he thought he did. His parents ran a small but fairly well known theatre they called "The Golden Chalice", which Edgar thought was absolutely silly. He grew up treated well, his parents providing him a solid education in acting, but he was never one for the stage, always dour, always serious, and never comfertable around large groups of people. In fact, his favorite activity was seeing how far he could get and how long he could avoid his parents. One day, when he disappeared from his bedroom and snuck out into the streets, the young human ran into a Half Orc, literally. He slammed right into him while running, and the two were knocked down. Edgar helped the other youth up, apologizing profusely and constantly glancing over his shoulder. He introduced himself, and offered to buy the half orc a pastry if he kept quiet about seeing him. The other youth agreed. That was the beginning of the friendship between Edgar and Rhys. The two young men were as thick as thieves for several years, sharing in all sorts of mayhem, as youths are likely to do. However, during Edgar's 16th year of life, things changed. His parents were killed by a local crime boss, who was angry that Edgars parents were not paying protection money. Almost at the same time, Rhys was dragged off by a press gang, and sold into slavery. The two seperated, and Edgar decided that he would have to hunt down those who took his family from him. From that day forward Edgar joined the guard, devouted himself to the skills needed to track those who would break the law. Several years passed, and one day Edgar got wind that the man who had bought his friend had died. He quickly began the paperwork to get his friend freed, having worked in the system for the last several years, and moving up in rank to become a tracker in the guard. He was successful in freeing his friend, and was happy to be reunited. However, Rhys seemed less then pleased by the outcome, and the two began to have a rivalry. Edgar could not understand why his friend was upset when the system had in fact worked, as he saw it. When Rhys disappeared yet again, Edgar was put on task to track him, to find him and bring him back in under suspicious of sedition and treason against the rulers. Since then Edgar has done his best to hide any evidence of his friend, while at the same time trying to get in contact with him and help him understand that the system can in fact change from within, and that trying to start a revolution is the worst thing possible. Unfortunatly for Edgar, the guard caught wind of him trying to hide evidence and has expelled him. Since that time, Edgar has continued to try to change things by following the law, but his power is now limited. Answers to your Questions: 1. Why are you in Westcrown?
2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government?
3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?
4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?
5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay down some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt?
