Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Yeah. I'll need a reminder as well. I think we could use a rascally, rogue type character. Maybe even a sniffer...

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

I'd be in, but would probably make a more normal character. Just rolled to bad to make Easop really come to life.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Internet was down in hotel last night. Should be able to catch up tonight. Feel free to DMPC me if not.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop cranes his head to look at the passing beast as well.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Perception

1d20 ⇒ 1 Plus whatever Knowledge skill would fit.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop can only stare wide eyed in wonder at the presence of a real Aes Sedai. Lady Jasmine was outstanding...but this...this was a real tower trained Aes Sedai. Suddenly he realized he must look like a gaping fool, and realized that some sort of response was expected of him.

"Why yes Aes Sedai". "Certainly, whatever you say". "I would see where this story leads". "I know till now I have not been of much use...but I do know things...and I'll try...harder"

A pox on your house Die Roller!

Here are the Pathfinder Stabilization rules...Another change from 3.5

Dying: A dying creature is unconscious and near death. Creatures that have negative hit points and have not stabilized are dying. A dying creature can take no actions. On the character's next turn, after being reduced to negative hit points (but not dead), and on all subsequent turns, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check to become stable. The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total. A character that is stable does not need to make this check. A natural 20 on this check is an automatic success. If the character fails this check, he loses 1 hit point. If a dying creature has an amount of negative hit points equal to its Constitution score, it dies.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop heal checks

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Round 2 check

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Round 3 check

If I was making this rule I believe I would make it so that successful heal checks added to the stabilization roll, instead of just stopping the damage...hmmm a house rule to consider

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

"Someone help"! "Bring the village Healer". "Lady Jasmine has been stricken down"!

Easop then rushes to her side to see if he can help her in anyway without further injuring her.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Heal Check

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Round 4
If necessary Easop will move to flank.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Flanking Quarterstaff attack

1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Damage

Miracle of Miracles

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Roaring in rage at the men attacking his compatriots, Easop lashes out with his tree trunk sized quarterstaff. (Targeting the one attacking me first).

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Quarterstaff attack

boy we really do suck at rolling...

1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 In case of a miracle.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Gee. I'm good at moving the plot forward...just be AWK for a day and things will take off :-). I'm good with you rolling initiative, and though I was skeptical at first I'm in another game with averaged group initiative...ie good guys go first...bad guys go second etc, and it really speeds up the combat. Since everyone goes on the same initiative you just post when you can instead of waiting for someone else.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18 Initiative

"Now stay down everyone". "Don't make yourself available for combat until and unless you absolutely have to".

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8 Sling attack

Easop quickly rises up and releases a sling bullet without really taking the time to aim, and the stone hits the ground in front of the charging group, and rolls harmlessly through the horses legs.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Still out of breath from all the excitement and exertion Easop sits on a stump as the plans are made.

"These darkfriends are really starting to perturb me", he states. "I'm not much good with this sling, but I might get lucky". "They are larger than rabbits" , he jokes looking around the ground for suitable stones for his sling.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

"Maybe I should try it from this angle".

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Strength Check

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12 Initiative

"This Way! This Way! Easop cries waving the people forward. "We are here to free you".

Easop tries to use his quarterstaff to break off the lock and chain.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Strength Check (+ any modifiers for Quarterstaff)

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop had stated earlier that he might be best suited for horse scaring, since he'd probably scare the prisoners as much as console them...but since we're this far in I'll just hope I don't scare them so much they scatter into the woods :-).

Easop approaches the prisoners as well with his biggest smile, and gentle look. He holds his staff at ready, but really hopes he doesn't have to hit anyone with it. If necessary he will use his strength to help release the captives.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

"Darkfriends"? " These soldiers serve Darkfriends". "Do you think they know that, or are they just following orders"? "I am ready to scare the horses and stir up the camp when you are".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

I believe all three rode off

"Is now the time to strike"? "I should probably scare the horses...though I hope they don't get hurt bolting away". "I'd probably just scare the prisoners, and I'm really no good at fighting".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

"Perhaps we should finds somewhere to hide out till morning". "Though darkness does have the advantage of surprise, and confusion". "I fear though I am well read on the battles that have shaped our land, practical applications are not my forte". "I will leave that planning to our brothers from the parched lands".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Almost to the battle scene, his Quarterstaff raised high, Easop quickly lets his rage fade, when he sees the situation well in hand. He then remembers he dropped his journal roughly on the ground, and rushes to retrieve it straightening out the pages as he rejoins the group.

"Hello there". "I am called Easop".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Finally pulling his nose out of his journal, Easop realizes his new companions might really be in danger. then he sees the blood flowing, and finds the unusual feeling that must be anger enter his body.

"Hey those are my friends". The Ogier yells in his loud rumbling voice. He drops his Journal to the ground, and moves forward his Walking Staff at ready".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Hotel has internet issues. Should be back to posting by Friday. Thanks for keeping me going :-)

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 Diplomacy

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Diplomacy

"It seems that stopping them from causing this type of reaction would be the prudent course of action". "I will do what I can to help".

Celebration party at my house if Easop ever rolls above a 5 on diplomacy checks :-)

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Hey everybody. I'll be on a 9-day business trip starting this afternoon, so posting will be spotty. Still should be able to post every day, but feel free to NPC my character to move things along.

"I pity the bandits that should challenge 3 Aiel and a Treebrother. I myself would like to find them as well." Pandin says to Easop.

Easop lowers his head at Pandin's words. "You are right Pandin". "You shame me with your mercy". "I should pity them as well, as I'm sure they do not know better". Then looking up and meeting the Aiel's eyes, "Still I think we should deliver upon them a very stern lecture, and get their promise not to do these things again".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop stares around in wonder at all the new people, as much as they stare at him...and give his best disarming smile I must ask lady Jasmine to help me make myself less threatening. Perhaps she can help me with her smile He knew in theory that there were many people in the world, but seeing it in reality was still a bit overwhelming somehow. Finally he snaps back to the present, and joins Jasmine speaking with master Hobbs.

"I should hope we run across these marauders before they attack another innocent farm". "Why any of these people here could be in danger of an attack". "I would hate to see more mayhem dealt".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

I'm still here, but fearful that we've got some party issues. I know when you originally posted for recruitment you had mentioned that you might allow an Aiel, but needed a good reason...well we've got three of them, and none of them knew each other before the start of the game. We've also got an Ogier, whom has never really been in civilization before...so out of our 6-characters four of them are outcasts, and/or even feared from the land we are adventuring in.

I found that one of the best things about the WOT is the depth of cultural development, and the differing attitudes of the various cultures. We've effectively got two adventuring parties with the Wastelanders always hand speaking among themselves, and the wetlanders kind of along for the ride.

I'd be willing to do another character to fit the setting more, but unless we can find a way to bind the party together, these might be recurrent issues. Just don't see how this party in it's current configuration can work in the situations we are currently in. Nobody would trust or talk to us.

Anyone else have any thoughts???

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop goes to help right the cart with his broad back, but the Wastelanders already have it righted before he even gets there. "I can see you are as strong as you are quick". "Remind me not to challenge you to a game of Boffo"

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Making an effort to dissuade the girl's fears, Easop crouches down as close to her level as he can, and from a non-threatening distance, tries to make himself likable.

"Hi There". "My name is Easop, and though I might be large and strange to your eyes, I can assure you I'm not any kind of Monster". "Would these others travel with me if I were any danger to them".

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Diplomacy

Two 1's in a row. That's not fair. Looks like Easop might have to knock her over the head if he plans on carrying her :-)

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Perception

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

"Oh Yes". The Ogier seems to be thankful to have something to do. "Thank you of course I will...though he is hard to keep an eye on".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop hops from foot to foot looking around frantically. He wants to help, but is not sure what to do. He is certain he would only scare the little girl, and he was not stealthy like the others...so he just danced in place with many false starts.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

"What is going on"? "I don't understand what is happening here". "Is there danger"?

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Knowledge Nature

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Perception

Easop bends and picks up the head of one of the wheat plants, crushing it in his massive hands, and holding it to his nose. "This should have been harvested long ago". "It has gone bad".

Then suddenly his head darts around to stare towards the stable. "Wait"! "I hear something from over there in the stable". "It sounds like something alive".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 Diplomacy

Easop finds an old sailor, and spends his time till the early morning hours learning all he can about the sea, and boats, before finally drifting off to bed after the old man Ooral Vinderan dozes off.

No apology necessary. Just helping out! :)

'Good idea. I will see if I can not find out more about where we are and where we are going, while you stand watch. Okay Brother?' Lain nods softly to Pandin as he signs.

"As I was just telling my fellow Society Brother here, I will head to the tavern room after this, and find out where we are and where we need to go, if someone would like to accompany me!" He smiled at the woman, before slowly tucking in to the food.

Lain pauses, stunned, before laughing softly, staring at Pandin, before signing, 'Brave. Much ji'e, if she does not kill you!'

"Ooooh!" Spearmaster Lain...I would join you if you would have me". "I'll do my best not to get in your way...I just...I crave the company of others. Easop then looks at the small furniture with a critical eye. "And I have a sinking feeling that my bed might not be the most comfortable in the Inn, so I might delay attending it as long as possible".

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop stares around the crowded main room in wonder. The scrolls and books told of such things, but it was a wonder to behold. All these people with different skin tones, hair and eye colors, they all dressed in different textures and colors, their languages so varied and fascinating...why they even smelled uniquely. It was almost overwhelming, but as much as he stared at the people they stared back at him. Most he was able to disarm with a genuine innocent smile...some assumed he was grimacing...but said nothing as he was quite large, and the tree trunk that he used as a walking staff set comfortably in his huge hands.

He almost missed the beckon into the other room. "What"? "Back here?". What is wrong with this room the one back there is lonely. There is a nice roaring fire in the main room, and this one is cold and empty". Then giving up his stance he joins the others in the private room, a look of disappointment obvious on his large face.

I suppose there will be enough time to experience these things later". "Forgive me for my over-exuberance". Easop then begins to look for the necessary things to light a fire. "At least let's get it warm and dry in here, as we appease our appetites".

Then turning to lady Jasmine "I am certainly no expert in these kind of things, but is it wise to leave such a trail of gold in our wake"? "We are already marked by our unique make-up without letting word that we have wealth creep out". Then looking at the ever alert Aiel, he half chuckles to himself...Though a man would be a fool indeed to molest this group".

Easop then looks for a sturdy stool, or an armless chair that he thinks might support his mass. Finally seeing nothing like that he turns over an empty bucket and carefully lowers his bulk onto it, finally relaxing as it appears it might support his weight. "They just don't make good sturdy furniture like they used to do they"?

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

After taking the time to read the missive, his large hands making the letter seem like nothing more than a leaf, his ears begin to twitch with excitement. Then starting loudly, and lowering his voice when his wise companion speaks. "We're really going to meet an Aes Sedai". "Not to minimize your power Jasmine, but we are really going to meet one who bears the ring and shawl". "Will the wonders of my new life never cease".

Then look at the others, "What is the name of this village we are approaching now". "Does anyone know"? "I wonder if we could be so fortunate that this is Aturo's Orchard"?

There’s a strange atmosphere to the towns and villages of the Almoth Plain. People are worried, tense, and suspicious of strangers. Many settlements are quiet, their streets empty as locals keep to their homes and out of sight. And then there’s the weather – bitterly cold, especially for so early in the autumn. It has snowed twice in the last two weeks.

Weary from another day’s travels, you all approach one such village late in the day. There are few people in the streets, and those that are are hurrying to finish their work so as to get inside. Tonight feels like it could be another cold evening. As the group makes its way to try to find what passes for an inn in this village, you all notice a young woman, not more than 13 who seems to be watching you from the door of a hooper’s shop. Blonde hair tied into a simple braid, she wears the common clothes of the area and seems to be an average youth, not out of place in any number of villages you have passed through already.

Her eyes grow fearful as she sees the three Aiel striding into the village. It’s easy to see the thoughts of Black-Veiled Aiel! run through her mind. Yet this is quickly lost as her eyes go even wider, with wonder, at the sight of an honest to goodness Ogier. Clearly unused to such sights, it takes her a moment to compose herself but she then approaches the group of you.

My apologies for interrupting your business, strangers. But I have a message, and I’m bidden to give it to such as yourselves. After getting what felt like a well rehearsed speech out, the young woman curtsies, presents a pouch and what looks like a folded letter, and then scurries back to her doorway as soon as any of you take it.

** spoiler omitted **...

Just FYI...through experience Easop has learned that people tend to fear he is some darkspawn or are just frightened of his appearance, so any time they enter a new village, or manor, he will wait on the outskirts until his presence can be explained. As this situation he is obviously expected he will forgo this usual pattern.

Lain grinned and reached up, patting the Ogier on the back. "That it is Treebrother. That it is. So tell me... What is it brought you out of the Stedding? Having traveled with you for awhile, I feel it is high time I asked!"

Easop looks at the Wastelander, and his brow knits in frustration, and intense thought. "That is both an easy question to answer and a difficult question to answer". "I believe that this day I will give you the easy answer, and save the other for a day when I myself better understand it".

"My steading was unique, in that my gr...I mean my master and I were the only inhabitants". "As you have probably concluded from my strange reactions to situations we have found ourselves sharing, and my wonder at everything I see...or hear, I have very limited experience in dealing with others". "You are all so alien, and yet so fascinating to me...I can't begin to even tell you...but back to answering your question the easy way". "Just before I left the steading my master was called from the land of the living...so quite simply...I had no reason to stay".

Sense Motive DC 15

Spoiler:

You notice that as Easop speaks of his master his hand unconsciously drops to the pouch at his waist, to reassure himself that something is still there. You would assume it is the leather bound journal, which he constantly reads, but never seems to write in. He uses another for that.

Sense Motive DC 20

Spoiler:

You believe that Easop is very sincere in his story, and in fact don't believe he has ever told an intentional lie...though some of his stories border on unbelievable. However, you believe there is more of this tale to be told...when he is ready.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

At hearing the laughter of the Wastelander, the Ogier breaks into a deep rumbling laugh that seems to shake the very land they tread. "Oh of all the strange and miraculous things I have experienced since leaving the steading, the sound of laughter has to be the most rewarding and fascinating". "I loved my grandfather...i mean Attal..., but he was a very taciturn, and thinking back I can't ever remember hearing him laugh". "In fact just now may have been the first time I have ever laughed". "Is it not a cleansing experience"?

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

"Oh no friends". "In fact my life is most satisfactory at the moment". "I guess I was just daydreaming...I seem to be prone to that". "I was comparing where I was only months ago, to what my life is like now". "I am grateful for your companionship". Even this dreary weather fails to dampen my spirits.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Easop walks steadily, his long legs easily keeping pace with the tall Aiel. Occasionally twitching his ears to rid them of accumulation moisture, and subconsciously squeegeeing the moisture from his mustache he seem deep in thought as he plods along.

Who ever would imagine a year ago that he would be here. He had never even seen a human until a little over a year ago, yet here he was travelling with them as though it was perfectly normal. There had to be a story here...he was confident he was on the right path...he had to be.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

Wow. I fell behind without my dot to guide me.

I think Easop is finished, just need to add some descriptions to race/class details, & Buy equipment...which won't be much.

Background story will be written as a short story, so might take a little longer, but I think you have the basics of it.

Stat block posted. Still have to do equipment, add racial and class notes, and feat descriptions. Then write history.

Thanks for the invite! I'll type in the Character sheet tonight (Hopefully), then get to work on the minor work of fiction, that shall become the past of Easop.
