As the others stare in mixed horror and wonder, Ean takes a militant approach. What happened here? Blaster bolts deflected into walls. Clone trooper boots, not so different from storm troopers. Other boots of softer, more comfortable leather. But the invaders had a mission beyond killing Jedi. They were here not just to destroy the living Jedi, but to eradicate their past, their history, their collected knowledge. They would have had hard targets beyond the people. What was most important? Where did only the select few go, the ones with "special orders?" That is what we are looking for. Trying to use knowledge tactics to see what happened here, how troops were deployed, what their mission objectives might have been. Tactics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Ean remains tense as they approach the temple. In the holovids of his youth, the temples were the locations for terrible acts of depravity and betrayal. He had come to understand that some of the stories of the Jedi Uprising were exaggerated, but he still saw the temples as places of terror. He keeps his blaster in hand and a sharp eye out.

At Solo's words about galactic unity Ean says something about how the galaxy has been sunk in boiling madness for 20 years and how it would be good to get it back on track.
Once on Coruscant, with something to do, Ean seems happier. "If we encounter more of them, let's make an effort to prevent them from destroying their ship. I'm sure Thel would be able to recover navigation data from their hyperdrive, and it would be good to know where they are hiding."

Flennic shudders as he enters the hangar. His time working with these Jedi had confronted him with many challenges, but few that he had had such a viceral reaction to. He had grown accustomed to being around Master Skywalker. To tell the truth, the man wasn't much at all like the villain of the stories told in the Empire. The same was probably true for Solo and the Wookie. But it was hard not to look back in anger at the Falcon. He could clearly remember the ship at the Battle of Endor, leading the fighter attack, flying out of the Death Star before it was destroyed. Ean simply nods at General Solo, unable to conjure words. It's not like he can say it is an honor to meet the smuggler turned terrorist. He makes his way onto the freighter.

Ean takes a moment to compose his own reports, one for the New Republic and one for the Empire. He files his reports, packs his kit and slings his bag over his shoulder. Once he is on the transport, he says, "I think we can say that we performed well on our first real mission. I wish the Jedi had turned over the prisoners to the Empire for them to be properly interrogated, tried, and executed. I wish that our first real challenge wasn't more dark force absurdity. These Sith lovers drive me mad."

"If it is their plan to raid a Jedi Temple on Corellia, then we should head there. If they have such resources, this is unlikely to be their only shuttle, and it seems like they can get 'stormtroopers' anywhere, not that these jerks qualify. Let's get moving. The sooner we can get back to the temple, the sooner we can leave. Whatever forces are moving here are obviously wealthy if poorly prepared."

Ok, here are my gear purchases, including what I already have. I would like to take one of the utility belts with medpac and one of the grenades. 960 credits
Protocol droid? 3000 Also, I was thinking it would be cool to have a black protocol droid (to support my diplomatic mission), but of course the droid is actually a battle droid. Of course, because I can't have an original idea, this already exists in 0-0-0. But I still like the idea. I can't afford the battle parts of the droid, but I can afford the protocol part. What if we just added the battle parts storywise later, saying they are hidden for the moment. This would be a character secret, but I don't like having secrets from other players. That's why I'm airing this in discussion rather than in PM. This is just an idea. Let me know what you think. If that isn't appealing, I'll spend credits on a flight suit and electrobinoculars and keep 1000.

Flennic's voice takes on an edge that no one on the task force has heard, an echo of his years of service in an unforgiving military organization. "I think you will find, trooper, that I am entirely an Imperial, and that you may be particularly interested in my scores in the Information Extraction courses at the Imperial Naval Academy, not to mention the twenty years of my career. Since I'm guessing you have never served on a ship under Emperor Palpatine, I'll caution you not to question my Imperial credentials again. Now let me make clear what your choices are: You can report on your mission to me and we can maintain a professional relationship. Failing that, I will treat you as an enemy combatant, take you to spend some time with an interrogator droid, and then hand you over to Jedi Master Skywalker for him to rip the information from your mind. Which will it be?" There is a lot going on in Flennic's head here. One: certainly no stormtrooper has ever been insubordinate in his presence, so there is genuine surprise and anger at that. He is a dyed in the wool Imperial, so that accusation makes him angry. He doesn't have an interrogator droid, but he has seen one in action. Also, he figures there is a lot of misinformation about Jedi out there, and a lot of fear regarding their mind powers. I hope none of these young Jedi feel it necessary to protest that Skywalker wouldn't do something like that. Deception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Ean removes the helmet of the trooper that he shot, placing the white dome over his head. If the helmet is still functional, he looks at the shoulders of the other troopers, searching for a insignia or designations. I believe it is true that stormtrooper helmets have a sort of enhanced reality suite, and that their are invisible symbols on their armor that allow them to distinguish each other. I thought that might give us a clue about who these fellows work for. "Thel, think of all the fun we will have sifting through that wreckage trying to see if it tells us anything about these infiltrators." "Trooper using his designation if I can find it, I am Rank Ean Flennic of the Imperial Navy. Mission report." Sorry, still haven't figured out my rank. Based on a quick glance at the organizations, it isn't very high. Persuasion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

"If we could manage to keep one of them alive for interrogation that would be preferable. Those look like Reborn, soldiers who were artificially given Force powers in an attempt to combat the New Jedi. They were thought to have been wiped out." Ean fires at one of the Reborn, Draylin's first or Temil's if Draylin's is down, in an attempt to distract him. Then he scrabbles over the tree trunk and moves cautiously toward the lightsaber combat. Trying to use the Suppress Enemy function of Aid another to give the Reborn a -2 on his next attack. Probably they can deflect that, but it's worth a shot.

3 questions: 1. Am I understanding correctly that we are posting in strict initiative order? If so, I apologize for going out of order before. 2. I never finished gearing up my character. Should I do that now or just go with what I have and have a big pile of credits? And as a sub question, can we even buy stuff here? And as another sub question, does everyone have a com unit? If not, I can get one for people so we can talk. 3. I still have a language to choose. Any suggestions?

"Irina and Joran, once the Jedi engage with the bucketheads up close, we should move to the side. Maybe while they are distracted we can recon those shuttles, figure out who they represent. One of the Warlord Moffs, if I had to guess. Keep it tight everyone." Flennic points his blaster in the general direction of the approaching stormtroopers, squeezing the trigger in an attempt to continue drawing their fire and attention. Through sheer luck, or perhaps the Force, his shot hits. Flennic waits for the other two to react before he moves away. Blaster shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 A 20 is a crit with no confirmation roll, right?
Standard action to shoot, swift action to activate born leader and give everyone that +1 to attack since I couldn't do it during the surprise round.

If I can take a swift action in the surprise round, I will activate Born Leader to give everyone in line of sight a +1 to attack for the entire encounter. That may only apply to us shooters, since the Jedi are supposed to be sneaking and they may not see me.

"I suggest that Joran and I draw their attention with some sniper fire from an appropriate location near here while the Jedi sweep left and right. If they follow standard procedure, they should send some of the troopers toward our position. This will allow the Jedi to come at them in a pincer movement, taking out the remainder and then flanking those who are moving toward us." At least, that is what the stormtroopers in the movies seem to do in response to a distraction. Galactic Lore: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Wow, got busy at work and missed like 40 posts. Ean white knuckles his way though the flight. As everyone piles out of the speeder, he hangs back, letting the fledgling Jedi take the lead. His sharp lined Imperial grey uniform stands out amongst the lose robes of the Jedi. His pale skin almost shimmers in the warm glow of the gas giant. Sithspit, I joined the Navy to avoid this slogging through muck and atmospheric flight. Curse this assignment. "Nice flying Joran, probably best if you, Irina, and I hang in the back. Let the saber-jockeys get up close and personal while we pick things off from the back. No sense being between them and whatever they are dismembering. I do wish they would assign us some more robust fire support. What I would give for an AT-ST or two."

This is only the second time I've been selected in a recruitment. Feeling way better than the taciturn Flennic generally feels.!
Profile for Ean Flennic. I need to check the math on my abilities. I'm not quite sure how Phantm88's houserule is supposed to work there. I swapped out first level feat of Skill Focus: Persuasion for Skill Training: Knowledge: Tactics. I didn't want to get rid of Deception. Most of the stat blocks for imperial officers (named and generic) have it, and it feels like with all of the politics in the remnant deception would be an important skill to learn. |
