I will be running a Kingmaker campaign shortly with 3 players. 1)Fighter
All the players are experienced gamers but relatively new to Pathfinder though they have all played a few society games before so I think they will be able to adapt to a 3 member party easily. With all the NPC's available I don't think I will have to adjust any encounters. I will throw in the odd item or two to help them along initialy though.
School Holidays are coming up and while I was thinking of some fun and cheap ways to keep the kids entertained Pathfinder sprung to mind. It will be my kids introduction to RPG's (other than computer games) and I was wondering what suggestions people may have for an adventure or AP. I have plenty of old D&D stuff that would be suitable and the original Red Box would be great to use but I want them to play the game I now love playing with my mates... Pathfinder. I am sure the beginner box that is coming out soon will be awesome for my needs but I want to get started now. I was thinking Kingmaker as I know my daughter would love all the fluff that comes with it. Being sandbox in nature it won't seem like I am railroading them to much either(even though no doubt I will be). My daughter is 12 and has rolled a Human Wizard. My son is 8 and has rolled a Dwarf Fighter. I will flesh out the party with a few NPC's that I will allow the kids to swap and change as they want. (Kingmaker lends itself to this very well too). I know it seems like I may of already answered my own question but any advice people can pass along would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a horse background being mounted might fit very well, and those teamwork feats might be some of what you are looking for. I do like the Cavaler and it would of been my first choice but I want the Cleric for healing. The guy playing the Pally only ever plays Paladins and he isn't to fond of being the party healer. I do have an idea with what I will go with now. Fighter for 1st level and Cleric after that. It will be a slow progress campaign so I have plenty of time to develop as I go. Holy Vindicator does look like a nice option for further down the track too.
I usually DM most my groups games but I will finally get to play in the our next campaign. The party consists of a Wizard, Ranger/Rogue and a Paladin so I was thinking of rolling a Cleric as the Paladin will be the frontline meat shield. I want to make my character a bit of a melee feat specialist as well (taking feats like disarm and Improved trip). I'm not sure if I should start him as a Barbarian and then go Cleric or perhaps a Fighter to pick up the extra feat to use on Dire Flail exotic weapon proficiency. I haven't really thought much more past this point except he hails from the a remote homestead in the River Kingdoms where he and his family would round up wild horses and sell/breed them. (If your familiar with Night's Dark Terror think of Sukiskyn). I have a few weeks before we make up the characters and I am pretty sure the DM will make us roll for stats so I can't give any details for you there. Thanks in advance for any advice.... help me get get my brain juices flowing.
I did mean Savage Tide when I said Isle of Dread. Two of the PC's were graduates from the Irendi Naval Academy, a Wizard and Ranger, and to round out the group there was a Cleric and Paladin of Tarastia, the patron Immortal of Justice and Revenge. The Ranger was also a Werewolf(I got great use out of Night Howler's for the fluff). To be honest we only got about half-way through the AP before one of the players moved and interest waned. I spent a lot of time developing the Immortals and their worship from WOTI to use with 3.5 and PF however I seem to have misplaced my thumb-drive with all my hard work. I am running Kingmaker as is. We mostly play via Skype but we get together every now and then for a marathon session. If I was to set Kingmaker in Mystara perhaps the Isle of Dawn would be an idle location? I haven't given it any thought until just now to be honest. Both Alpahtia and Thyatis would want to create a buffer nation between them. If set after WOTI much of the Isle of Dawn could have a River Kingdoms vibe to it.
I am so sorry Liz but this order just turned up today. Thanks for the Xmas card btw 8P. I have also recieved the final comfirmation email that the replacement you are sending me with AP#42 1618342 can no longer be altered. It certainly did appear that the orignal order was MIA. My last order arrived in record time, about 8 working days. Prehaps Australia Post has been using it as a mouse pad or it went via Uzbekistan!
I too am a Mystara fan having cut my RPG teeth with the red, blue, aqua, blue and gold box sets and later running Wrath of the Imortals with 2nd Ed. Last year I started a side campaign with Night's Dark Terror using PF but with very slow advancement. I may just steal/share your ideas for Carrion Crown when the guys wrap up on Kingmaker. The PC's from the side campaign can move on from Karameikos up to Glantri. My Principalities of Glantri box is just a dust collector at the moment. It will be nice to clean it off. It is not the first time I have run an ap in Mystara either. Remember the Island of Dread ap in Dungeon mag?
I am yet to receive this order from early December. I am wondering if it has something to do with me cancelling part of that order before it was shipped? Otherwise it has disappeared on rout. I realize there can be quite a variance in delivery times to Australia. I received my last order 1600581 over a week ago but order 1593146 which was sent a week earlier arrived today however the order in concern was sent a month earlier still. Thanks for your time and support.
I am looking for other Pathfinder groups in the Sutherland Shire. I DM a small group on a very, very irregular basis (we get together maybe 4 times a year). Once my kids get older I will DM every night if they are keen! Anywoo.. I would really like to join an existing group as a player. I am 34 years old, have played various RPG's since I was 10, though the past few years my gaming group has been rather lacklustre, hence my reaching out now.
I started a new campaign about a month ago with just 2 players. 1 player insisted on rolling a character using 3d6 as I had built up the campaign with the 2 PCs 'thrown' into the life of adventurers. He wanted to roleplay that aspect to the letter... a guy who really has no place as an adventurer. He actually rolled some workable stats. STR 15
He chose to be a fighter though a Wizard would of worked well. The DEX roll is a major hindrance for a front line fighter and he went into negative hitpoint on 3 of the 4 encounters in our last session. Thankfully the other PC who is a ranger took the healing skill and was able to save him each time. He is now on the verge of 3rd level is going to take some Cleric levels.
Hi, I just purchased a few PDF products including- Warriors: A Comprehensive d20 Sourcebook for Fantasy Role-Playing Games (d20) PDF I download the 23 MB file ok however when I go to extract it I get an invalid message. The Zipped folder appears to be empty though it does have a size of 23,555 KB. I have personalised it and downloaded it twice with the same results. Any help please? Thanks in advance.
My gaming group started the STAP last weekend. I am setting the campaign in Mystara around the year AC 990. The time line may change but it dosnt really seem important. I restricted the players to races and classes from the PHB at 1st level though I will allow them to use other sources as they advance. NG Human (Traldar) Ranger who worships Ordana. This character will likely take rogue levels aswell and specialize in ranged combat. Grew up in a fishing village and has some boat building experience. Has been working as a sailor up until the STAP start. LN Human (Thyatian) Cleric of Tarastia. An over weight drunk of a man who was sent to Sasserine by his superiors to help bolster the order there. Suffers from cronic sea sickness. LG Human (Thyatian) Paladin of Tarastia. As with the Cleric he has been sent to Sasserine to help bolster the order there. Has the skill Seige Egineer. LG Human (Ierendi) Wizard. This character had the most absolutly ridiculously lucky rolls I have ever seen in my 20 years gaming experience when he was created resolting in 2x18's, 2x16's, a 14 and 13. (4d6-lowest score). He is a graduate of the Ierendi Naval Academy. |
