Hi all, we are trying to start a local chapter in Gillette Wyoming. I was curious, since we have no VC, VL, VA, or even our own region or a lodge or anything, are we allowed to share scenarios between GMs? like if I bought all the season 1 scenarios and another GM bought season 2, can i print off some of the season 1s and give them to him, and vice verca, without each of use paying for the other seasons? i just want to check if this is acceptable/legal.

So there's no real advantage to making a pyro-kinetecist Lava-Gnome for PFS?

If this were Facebook I would 'like' this thread :-p

The Exchange

well we had our first game today. 2 people showed up who were not part of my normal retinue and it turned out well

So I'm starting a PFS local Chapter in Wyoming. I would like to run games in such a way that the storyline sort of keeps up with the characters, but I'm noticing that they aren't exactly released in such a way to make that easy. you have 1 or 2 tier 1-5 released then some tier 5-7 then a 3-5 etc not exactly in any particular leveling order in each season.

im wondering which season should i buy (im planning on buying an entire season at once) and which order should i run the scenarios in to make the most sense story/level wise? or should i just run them in release order?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Also if anyone in WY is reading this i do have the first event created on this site.

Is there a list of ALL boons somewhere? lol

We don't have a VC or a VL in Wyoming. I'm trying to start it up from square 1 here lol. But those are all good ideas. I'll look overr that other thread mentioned above as well

So I am making progress in trying to get a local chapter up and going in Gillette WY. I have two stores who both sell Paizo products who have agreed to let me host events at their locations. I plan on doing the first sessions in late August/early September. Just gonna run First Steps at both locations for the first session, then move on to Wounded Wisp, and maybe Flesh Eaters for followup sessions.

If anyone else has done something similar and has any sort of Flyers or similar documents they used to announce at the locations that the event was going to happen, that I could use to get some ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have something simple in mind, the official PFS logo at the top, followed by some text talking up PFS such as "If you enjoy D&D or if you play pathfinder, you would really enjoy PFS" etc. etc. "join us on ___ date for a PFS scenario at ___ location" etc. etc.

Pretty much anything at all remotely relating to what I'm looking for would go a long way to making it look cool and fun for a new local chapter startup.

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, at Paizocon this year they mentioned that PFS has not had a lot of traction in 2 states as of yet. One of those was Wyoming. So I've decided to try to get a local chapter going as my first step in trying to get PFS going across the state. I've spoken with a local business and they like the idea of using part of their space for PFS on occasion. I don't have any official event planned yet but I'm making preparation to give it a shot in a couple months. Depending on turnout I might not need other people at first but if it does take off I'm sure we will need additional GMs and whatnot. So if anyone browsing the forums is from the area and would be interested in playing or GMing for PFS please let me know via reply or private message here on the Paizo website.

I'm going to go into my local Hastings store and a smaller mom and pop type place (in Gillette WY) to see if I can't drum up some interest in trying to get a local chapter going. I'm interested in trying to do the whole Venture Captain thing, but I figure taking small steps first is the best way to go.

Any tips, tricks, or other advice is very welcome.

Was wondering if there's any update to this story...

Question...
I'm new to PFS but have a character I've spent several days building getting ready for paizocon 2015. He is a blade bound magus who uses a long sword. The idea I had for him getting his black blade at level 3 is for him to inherit his fathers recently broken long sword and use his magical abilities and his craft weapon skill to reforge it. Obviously to make thing work within the rules gold would be subtracted from what he has to cover components etc... But would this be a valid sword for use in this way? Does the black blade start as a masterwork weapon or does it simply function as one? And since he will basically be trading his own long sword for the newly reforged one would it be simpler to "pay for the masterwork upgrade" for the purposes of the rules in function, and just keep the backstory? I know that there is no real crafting in PFS play but my character has a rank in craft weapon to fit his backstory. (And because I haven't seen " profession : blacksmith " anywhere.) it could be considered a waste of a point really but it fits the character too well to give it up without a fight lol.

If necessary I can post the character background somewhere before it's finalized to give a better description of exactly what I'm talking about

Awesome. Good to know. My only experience with PFS is the one campaign in the beginner box. I played it once at Realmscon with an actual venture lieutenant and once in an at home setting. Really looking forward to all that's out there.

OK so this is probably a stupid question... This is gonna be my first paizocon and my wife will be coming too... She enjoys the adventure card game more while I prefer the RPG more. She is interested in trying out PFS for the RPG though. So the stupid question is, are there going to be a bunch of low level PFS Sessions going on? I've finally created a character that I'm interested in really playing with and advancing, and I'm helping her work on one she likes as well. Would like to go from 1 as far as I can while at the con.

The Exchange

have they totally stopped making the print version of these? the cheapest one i can find is almost $300.00 on Amazon

The Exchange

ill roll up a character right now, i just bought the book for RoR, and am interested in seeing it in action, i will refrain from reading the book while the campaign goes on.

Thanks

first off ill admit wow was my first mmo, since then ive tried many but non that ive played hit the right note for me and now even wow is starting to suck with all their pandering to 12 yr olds. that having been said in its original launch wow managed to achieve a solution to this problem, they had pvp servers and normal servers. in a pvp server if you went into a "contested area" you could be attacked at any time, if you were in your own faction's area or a "friendly area" you could not be attacked unless you purposfully flagged yourself for pvp. the only real difference is that on a normal server you would never be attacked unless you purposly falgged yourself whereas on a pvp server if you were questing in a contested zone you could. personally i think if this mechanic is included in pfo it would make the world seem that much more real. for example if you are trying to join the assasins guild a quest could be to kill an unsuspecting pc. if you dont like random pvp then play on a pve server end of story

The Exchange

The things id like to see many have already said but ill restatethem because i feel they are important to an MMO

1. ALOT of detailed IN DEPTH and enjoyable starting zones/ low level material (this is important for me because im what many of my wow friends call an alt-oholic)

2. PVP. PVp Pvp pvp pvP pVP pVp PvP. i dont mean just duels, battlegrounds, or territories imbued with crafting materials and dungeons (though those are fun too) i mean make it real, in the real world we can just walk past everybody, or we can go psycho and start killing them all (with obvious repercussions) we can choose our targets good or evil or faction v faction what have you, let us decide who or why will will kill someone be it someone from a rival trade guild, theives guild, the guy who attacked the king, or the guy who slept with our dughters, or even joe shmoe from down the road

as far as pvp goes i think it would make the most sense if all the pathfinder factions were inherently somewhat hostile to eachother, maybe not openly but at least a little malice felt one way or the other

3. an in depth crafting system. let it have the possiblility of failure, if you fail to pick a flower it kills the node temporarily instead of letting you try and try again. if you fail to mine a metal node then you can at least get a handful of possibly useful rocks and it kills the node temporarily. if you fail to make a shortsword+1 lets say the metal cracked in the quenching vat then you may at least be left with a jagged dagger. etc etc

3.5 item customization, dyes are a decent idea in most games so that you can make your character look the way you want, but also the shape and look of your gear sometimes needs to be adressed. i cant tell you how many time i was pissed off with wow playing a ret paladin or prot paladin AND THEY MADE ME WEAR A FREEKING DRESS AS A MELEE PLATE-WEARER. allow me to remove the excess cloth from my plate armor, or at least make it look ripped and torn as a melee person would not stand for wearing a dress in hand to hand combat. i like what they have recently done with transmogrification as well but its still not custom, what if i want to look like im in t3 pally gear but i dont wanna be in silver robocop jumpsuit? what if i want it to be red or gold? maybe these things could be a more advanced form of crafting idk but id like to see it.

theres a few other things too but i was thinking so much about those i forgot the rest lol
