Please join me in welcoming Annika Boudwin as the new card game VL in Utah. Annika has been a huge part of PFS here and has been very enthusiastic with the card game. I look forward in seeing where she takes us.

Please join me in welcoming Ryan Boudwin to the ranks of the VL's. He has been instrumental in organizing games here. He is also a great GM and is liked by all who meet him. Congratulations Ryan! I look forward to working with you.

I wish I could have known him. My deepest sympathies. I am glad you get to give him a proper send off. I'm sure he'll be watching.

Congratulations everyone!

I am very happy to announce that PFS in Utah just got more better. We now have our very first 5 Star GM, Brian Lickey.

Congrats Brian, I know this was a long anxious wait and I couldn't be more happy for you.

If anyone ever visits Utah I recommend getting a game in with Brian. He is a great GM, always very prepared and makes sure everyone has a great time.

Welcome KidDangerous! I started the local group in my area and had some of these same questions, so I will do my best to answer your questions.

With your bard I believe what you would do is make a human bard and select one of you starting languages as Varisian. Since being Varisian is just a nationality you would basically just say you are from that country.

For claiming credit for Skulls & Shackles you apply the chronicle to a character that hasn't had the chronicle before, kind of like applying a chronicle when you play a pregen, more specific rules can be found in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

I am not sure if you can apply credit from modules that you have already run. I think it has to be decided at the time you play/GM the module but i am not 100% certain on that.

Same as above.

For the Pathfinder Tales novels, you get the chronicle for just owning the book, but I believe you have to apply it to a certain character when you use it, and then it's benefit is over. ie. you can't apply it to all your characters.

If I am wrong on any of this please correct me.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Evan, might you share that with me as well?

Hey, congrats, I may need to come and see how you run things there. Wink wink. Sorry wife I have to do it for my PFS duties.

I think that if players start playing MMO's while at the table it is time to start playing Pathfinder Online!

But I am in the "it's disrespectful" camp. Electronics are fine, I use my phone and tablet all the time. Even if you can multitask the GM has taken the time to prepare a fun evening for you. He at least deserves your full attention during that time.

What an achievement, congratulations!

He he thanks everyone. Cadynce I will be sure and get you your bribe money later. Wink wink.

Wow, I am so excited and humbled to have been selected as the VC of Utah. We have a pretty great group of players here and have been seeing some tremendous growth in some of our stores. I hope I can help the area grow. Besides our weekly game nights we have a local convention coming up soon on May 9-10. You can find more info on our facebook page Wasatch Front Pathfinder Society and you can contact me at utahpfs@gmail.com.

Congratulations, I would also like to hear a story like what Mr. Mortika is asking.

Congratulations, best of luck to you.

Positive thoughts and well wishes headed your way.

Congratulations! May the odd be ever in your favor.

Another question for you Gencon Volunteer Veterans or GVV's for short. Besides preparing the scenarios and wearing our purple shirts what are some tips or some of your experiences with how everything works? Anything to watch out for or things not to do? This is all as far volunteering goes that is.

A little real world must have for me is a bottle of Ibuprofen and some sort of caffeinated beverage. This keeps me awake and alert despite the nausea effect from the stink cloud formed as everyone gathers. I have also thought of incorporating a gas mask into some kind of medieval style helmet but it is kind of hard to hear what I am saying through those.

I am not able to isolate Pathfinder Society blog posts. Whenever I try the screen loads then turns white and takes a couple clicks to go back. It seems to be forwarding me somewhere or trying to load something else, I have tried this on several browsers and devices with the same effect,

Thanks everyone, I see your points, and thanks Paz for those links I wasn't quite sure how to word my searches correctly to find that information. I was sure that it had been discussed before.

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the rule that we can only play a scenario once as a player and once as a GM? I was kind of surprised at that rule when I first started playing. My intuition when I started was that it should be once per character.

Simply amazing. I hope someday to have you host a game for me.

Arestes,

In a quick search of the Guide to Pathfinder Organized Play, I did not see anything along the lines of open gaming rules. It may not be in print as a rule, but it's a great guideline for PFS's goal: facilitate and promote Pathfinder gameplay worldwide. The more welcoming we are as a community, the more likely it is that someone will have a chance to try the game and decide that the community is somewhere where he or she might fit in and enjoy a great adventure.

However, there are largely unwritten caveats to this that are important to consider for any store liaison, venture-officer, or volunteer. If an individual is toxic to the experience of the community, it's entirely within your rights to take appropriate action to address the issue. I recommend taking the player aside to discuss the issue in private and establish reasonable expectations for his behavior in a particular setting. That might mean not swearing loudly at a game store, whose owners might be trying to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere. It might mean not browbeating a kid at a table if his actions don't line up with that player's strategic vision. Don't be accusatory; just state what you're seeing as the issue, lay the ground rules, and see if the person's willing to accept. Give him a chance to clean up his act, then be firm in your decision to boot him if he doesn't change.

It's just not worth repeatedly bending over backward to accommodate someone who will scare away other players—especially if the venue is your own home. If you have a local venture-officer, consider chatting with him or her about your grievances; this may not be the first time the issue has come up, and he or she may have some advice that's more targeted for how your region operates. In rare cases, campaign volunteers have banned a repeat troublemaker from participating in PFS at one or more locations. Sometimes that's indefinite, and sometimes it's for several months to give the person time to reconsider his behavior before giving another...

This is exactly what I would do. Thanks for your words John. Sometimes it's a good wakeup call for people to change attitudes and habits when their peers no longer want to spend time with them.

I think it should depend on the frequency. In this case the player shouldn't play if he is going to have to leave early every week. However if it is a one time thing I think do the steps others have outlined with XP and such.

I would just make sure you are around a GM when you fill it out as a "witness". Then you can make sure you don't miss anything.
