Sunday Morning, First of Abadius 484.
A cold day to start the year, a bit below freezing. To those who rise early enough to see it from their windows, the sunrise is beautiful, and plays with the frozen droplets that scatter across the rooftops of Roland. It almost feels like yesterday didn’t happen, it almost felt like a distant dream. Almost.
The party awakens, gathering in the main hall of the Inn. Mako follows Halcyon like its own master, but shows the rest of the party little respect. It snarls when the kitsune draw close, but ceases its behavior with a wave from Halcyon. Valentina helps herself to the food in the back of the Inn. It is still ours before the bar will open.
The Durendale Daily arrives a bit later than it usually does. The Sunday paper has a single article taking its front page, with various subsections leading to all parts of the paper. There seems to be no news about the missing Spymaster.
- New Year’s Massacre: 37 Galatians Murdered, Guard Investigation Underway. Throughout the city of Roland, 37 Galatians, including many diplomats and royals, were assassinated across parties, social gatherings, bars, and even their own homes. Galatian officials expressed outrage at the events, and urge members of Galatian royalty and parliament to take refuge in the embassy or return to Greater Galatine. Ten assailants were caught, and ambassadors to Greater Galatine are demanding their judgement in Galatian court of law.
- Striking Witches. The Lynching of a witch has lead to a strike amongst Hedge Witches of the Murgleis region. As the primary healers of the region, Murgleis’ ability to heal it’s sick and wounded is crippled. Society Headmaster of Witchcraft, Hexes and Patrons Vivian Leclaire has refused to comment.
- Self-Defense Sorcerer Determined Innocent. A controversial case of magical regulation has ended, the jury of the Lower Judicial affairs has ruled the defendant of Durendal v. LaPointe not guilty. Michel LaPointe, Durendale sorcerer, had cast a banned spell in self-defense, injuring his assailant. Defendant’s Lawyer Raphael Montefiore stated that “In his use of the banned magic, the defendant did more than any man armed with a sword might have,” commenting on LaPointe’s nonlethal casting of his spell. While not-guilty, LaPointe will go through retraining at the Society to ensure the matter isn’t repeated under different conditions.
It is Sunday, and most businesses have the day off, both for religious purposes, rest, and to celebrate the New Year's arrival. With the exception of Marcus’ bar, all player’s businesses are closed. Nishara and Nathen will be working the Inn, Marcus you are free to act however you wish.
Please RP reflecting on day prior in the Inn. If you all wish to pursue earlier matters, you may want to focus on a next step or direction. I have begun tracking events/quests, here is the summary and leads of the poisoning of Abigal Bolton Afterwards, please post briefly on own personal day. If you want to meet with an NPC, either personally or otherwise, you can do so. Everyone will be getting paid their weekly wages tomorrow (Moonday, 2nd of Abadius), will be receiving new Contacts, Intersession missions et cetera. Today is acting outside the typical intersession cycle as I prepare that for the immediate future.
