![]() I would have to disagree with Vic Mackey being categorized as Lawful Evil.
He is out for himself first, but he brings no harm to innocents on purpose and when he does he rectifies the damage he’s done. Overall he is out to protect the innocent and punish criminals but he won’t let the law get in his way. ![]()

![]() That is exactly what a wizard bonded to an item does, at least the way I read it. Once per day you can use it to cast any spell known, not memorized. I do have another question about a bonded item suppose my character bonds with a wand. Later in his career he turns it into a wand of magic missile and eventually he will blow through all 50 charges. At that point can he craft it into a wand of magic missile again, at half cost again? Also the rules state that he can enchant the bonded object as if he had the required feats, am I correct in assuming that he does not need any item creation feats to enchant his bonded item? Move over ranger, wizard is my favorite class again!! ![]()
![]() I never had problems with playing D&D in high school. One of my English teachers played and we frequently had discussions about the game (favorite characters, unlucky deaths, adventures we had played). In fact, after I graduated I joined his game during the summers when I was home from university. My mother was not afraid that the game was evil but she still thought it was a little off; to this day she refers to it as “playing cards.” On a side note, I was first introduced to D&D during a Boy Scout camping trip, ahhhhhh good times. ![]()
![]() A few rangers check in at Turtleback Ferry every couple of days for supplies. So figure about one week with no contact from the fort and the mayor will advise Magnimar of the situation by sending news a trader headed that way. Another week goes by and still nothing but silence from the fort, officials decide to send a horseman to Magnimar with the news and a plea for help. A third week goes by and it is obvious that the indigenous wildlife is being driven out of the forest, at this point a group is assembled and sent to investigate the fort, they disappear. By now 3+ weeks have gone by with no contact, it's obvious that something is not right in the region, and a patrol has disappeared. Combined with the knowledge of what / who inhabits Kreegwood and Turtleback Ferry’s remote location, I think it would warrant magical communication with Magnimar with a request for immediate assistance. ![]()

![]() Let’s start with the third painting; the demon is holding a gold (yellow) goblet and a red object. Yellow liquid (represented by the goblet) and a red solid (powder) makes aqua demonic, and summoning a demon. The second painting shows blue water crashing into a keep; notice the out of place red bit on the keep. Blue liquid and a red solid makes alkahest, the destructive property of the acid is represented by the keep collapsing. The first painting has both red and blue but no real way to identify what the solid is and what the liquid is, except we already used a blue liquid and red solid for the second painting, so it must represent a red liquid and a blue solid, making aqueous aperture. The skeleton is a perfect representation the negative energy plane. ![]()

![]() As we prepared to leave Euterpe on our way to Halftown Sevarin asked if he could join us. I had my doubt as to whether he would be welcomed, but saw no harm in allowing him to join us. Once we could see Halftown the first thing we noticed were the homes, which were made of wood, and the lack of trees in the area. Obviously that quantity of lumber would have to have been brought in from somewhere else. As we approached the village we greeted by a man, and my suspicions also proved to be true, Sevarin was not allowed to enter Halftown. The man led us through town and took us to the Crane sister Island. He told us to cross the river and wait, upon prodding as to how we were to cross he pointed out a series of stones just below the surface. We all crossed the river by jumping from stone to stone, however April slipped once and fell with a splash into the water, she opted to merely swim across. Once we had crossed three women came out of the lone hut to greet us, their names were Coom, Spart, and Nare. They sized us up and asked if we truly wanted to be trained, we all confirmed that we did. The sisters told us to find a spot on the Island were we would build our new houses and wait for further instruction. Rob immediately selected an area near a rock for his home, I just wanted and place near the water. I can’t really explain why, it just seemed like the proper place for my house. We waited all day to no avail, nothing happened. I gathered a few boulders and made myself a chair while waiting. I still didn’t know how I was going to build my house. Sure I built sets for plays in college, but a house is something else entirely. That night as I was trying to sleep an odd noise caught my attention, I look for what is was and noticed bundles of wood surrounded by shimmering air, like the air wavering over hot pavement, was coming towards us. As my bundle was dropped I noticed a female face in the air, quite upsetting and odd. There were no more disturbances that night. That morning we were awakened to another bowl of gruel and told to build our houses. As I examined the wood I noticed tabs that could be pushed out, thereby making the shake easily constructed, even the pushed out pieces were used to make shingles. Upon completing my home I helped the rest of the group with theirs. I even used the rest of the time that day to find some more boulders to fashion a makeshift table to go with my chair/seat. I also gathered some tall grass to use as a mattress, along with my “borrowed” sheet my primitive shack was comfortable. The next day we were given a stick and told to hold it over our head and run to Euterpe and back all day. It was horrible, I didn’t realized just how out of shape I was, but I did manage to complete the task as asked. This was what we were to do for a few weeks, it became easier to do as the days went on, and we even got the occasional respite when we were told to assist the towns’ people in their daily activities, such as fetching water and other menial jobs. After a week or so I dreaded going to Euterpe, as I could feel strong resentment towards us over, of all things, our sticks. That also led me to the realization that we were unsupervised during our runs. That’s why I decided it might be time to do some exploring. One day during a run I went off the beaten path to see if I could spot any other villages, Rob and Stanley saw me run off the path and followed. About a mile or so in I saw what looked like a wall of heat emanating from the ground. That was all I needed to see, so I turned back as I didn’t want to make the crane sisters suspicious. I didn’t look back to see if Rob or Stanley followed. That night, when Rob and Stanley still hadn’t returned I decided I had to confess to my friends about what had happened… they were not amused. We decided it was too dangerous to look for them at night so we would do it first thing in the morning. Shortly after, they retuned, well, Rob returned dragging Stanley. It looked like he had been hit; Rob rested and told us what had happened while the crane sisters administered aid to Stanley. Obviously I’m glad I turned around. The next day we were told to start mental exercises. Never had I been so frustrated and exhausted. Lucky we were given permission to keep up with our physical exercises as well, so that made for a great break. Imagine, running for an hour was almost relaxing, ha! This training continued for nearly a week. One day we were told to relax for that day due to a Kaeli, which we learned was a type of festival / ceremony about the Sidhe. We left that afternoon and did not get to the proper ceremony ground until nightfall. The area was magnificent, almost like Stonehenge, it reminded me of my days in Order of the Arrow. As the ceremony proceeded it began to rain when suddenly the cry, “raid!” rang through the air. The Crane Sister began to run and told us to flee. Suddenly, what I could only describe as a “stone” creature came up out of the ground, that was all I needed to see and I began to run. I got no more than 90 feet away when I heard my friend yelling for me, the “stone” creature was gone, but Stanley and Rob were hurt on the ground. Well I volunteered to get the crane sisters for help as that would give me an excuse to get the hell out of there. I ran all the way back to Halftown and across the river to their hut, but there was no answer. I decided to look for anyone else and cross the river, when I felt something come up out of the water and pull me into it. Then my whole world went black. I woke up the next morning on the river bank, my stick was gone. Once I hiked back to Halftown it became apparent I was a few miles away. My friends were already there when I arrived; the crane sisters were even healing Rob and Stanley. It was like they could use magic. Over the next few days we could feel the hostility becoming greater in Euterpe, we decided that the safest thing to do would be running as a group, luckily we did. One afternoon we were ambushed by a group of citizens from Euterpe. We were able to fend them off, and we discovered we had developed special abilities. It was amazing, April could use magic! During the battle it seemed right to for me to recite some lines of Shakespeare from Henry the V; it seemed as if it inspired my comrades to become more courageous and competent during the battle. After we fended them off, I told one of the men to return to Euterpe and tell any other potential attackers what had happened there. On the next day a Sidhe came to the crane sisters’ hut and had a long conversation with them. Later that day we were informed a Sidhe would be training with us. However we would need to venture into new lands (for us) to pick him or her up, I’m still not sure why they wanted us to come along. As we set out the next morning, we were escorted by a pair of Sidhe; I could feel that they were not pleased to venture out with us. After a long day the crane sisters prepared our campsite with some sort of protective circle, they warned us to not leave it under and circumstances. Though the day was unsettling and strange, to say the least, I managed to fall into a deep slumber that lasted the whole night. ![]()
![]() I'm Jon Hayunga. I live and work in Las Vegas, currently I’m a processor / runner (read: aspiring actor / playwright). Check back on Friday, May 11th and I will have my characters information posted on my profile. I was crouched behind a sofa trying to figure out where I was and what to do when a heard a voice yelling, “Metro police come out with you hands up!” I put my hands on my head and walked forward and… it was Rob. I felt relived at first but he also did not know what was going on, suddenly Dan and Crystal showed up followed by April. I grabbed a sheet off the sofa to maintain a modicum of my modesty. (I was only wearing my under shorts.) While we all talked, trying to figure out where we were and what was going on, I realized we couldn’t be in Vegas anymore, as there are certainly no houses this big and this old in the city. The house was vaguely Victorian with an old grandfather clock in the living room, and extremely dusty. That’s when a few people heard movement upstairs. Rob gave Dan his nightstick and drew his gun to investigate the noise, while April, Crystal and myself waited in the kitchen. While I quietly looked for a rolling pin for uses as a club I came across a jar of salt, taking a handful I realized I could throw the salt in the face of our kidnappers before clubbing them over the head with the rolling pin. The whole time April was asking Crystal if she has seen her husband and/or daughter. I could hear a strange voice speaking a language I didn’t know and Rob trying to communicate back. I peeked out and saw and extremely grotesque woman, (I think,) who looked like a human version of Jabba the Hut. As we tried to communicate the sound of horses approached and she told us to hide, so I quickly ran upstairs to the room I awoke in and hid in the closet. I could hear the woman whose name we later learned was Lamia speaking with a man who seemed angry, but he soon left. Once we received the all clear, Lamia told us to walk to a near-by village named Euterpe for the night and to return the following morning. Before we left I went back to the closet I hid in to retrieve some leather clothes I felt when I was in there, to my horror, it was a full body human flesh suit straight of Silence of the Lambs. I fled for the front door, my head spinning, and we progressed to Euterpe. Upon arriving to Euterpe we saw the village is nothing more than a group of small hovels. We were greeted by the citizens and discovered that they and we are trapped here. Furthermore all the people in the village are from Earth, from various points in history. After explaining their situation and giving us a small meal of odd vegetable they could till from the ground we told them our story. They seemed in awe that we were to return to Lamia’s house, none of them have ever been back. I tried to make friends and offered them the salt I had taken, but they refused to accept it and said I must return it, it’s almost is if they revere her as a god. They would only say that no one should take from Lamia. After a very roughs nights sleep we prepared to make our way back to Lamia’s. Thankfully the people of Euterpe gave me some simple homespun clothing the wear. The walk seemed very long and no sooner had we entered the house then we heard horses again, but this time we could not hide and a man stepped in… No he was not a man, he was an elf, I swear, but not a kindly, beautiful elf of Tolkien, but rather a vicious elf as imagined by the brothers Grimm. Rob tried to hide his fear untill the elf laid a hand on his shoulder, Rob nearly collapsed form the elf’s strength. Rob drew his gun and tried to attack the elf but his gun wouldn’t work and the elf was unfazed by anything Rob did. Eventually he left us in Lamia’s care before taking his leave, at which point Lamia told us we were very special and that we were to venture past Euterpe to Halftown to be trained by the Crane Sisters. She gave us her word that we would not be attacked by the elf on our journey. Upon stopping at Euterpe to rest the villagers eagerly asked us what we were told, and were even more shocked once they learned we are to be trained. Trained to do what? Who are the Crane sisters? What manner of nightmare is this? ![]()

I’m not going to shell out thousands of dollars every few years just to have the most recent edition. Especially if a new set will come out every five years, not if I can get 12 years or so out of my product I’ll be more likely to consider it. Hell, I have friends who played 2nd edition until a year ago. ![]()

![]() The kobold was not to be trusted. We decided that perhaps we were given false directions and as we doubled back we met up with a larger group of thieves. I stayed at the rear of the group to make sure no one snuck up on us and next thing I know were are being surrounded. I let the party know that something is coming up on our rear and then let the arrows fly. I managed to drop a few thieves before the rest started to flee, Sareena and I did not let them escape.
My next memory was Zannry standing over me, with a wand in his hand. He used it a few more times to fully heal me and the party went to the dining hall as instructed by the letter we received. In the hall was another letter telling us to proceed to another room, as we piled into the room I cant help but to keep my eyes open and prepared to draw an arrow at a moments notice. I must remember to stay more at the rear of the group, not only for their safety, but for mine as well. I am not a brash as this group and will probably have to bail them out again. ![]()
![]() This hideout is much larger than I assumed, luckily the defenders seem somewhat incompetent. However they used sea urchin venom quite effectively, luckily for me I found a stash of it, soon I will implement it on my arrows. It doesn’t kill and will give us even a greater advantage. Joe has the heart of a true warrior, even continuing the battle whilst he was prone on the floor. The combination of our fighting styles is proving exceptionally effective in combat. As for the hideout, it may prove a very effective base of operations, not really my style seeing as it is in the heart of a city, but an excellent defensive and secretive location. First however, we must clear it and find another way out. ![]()
![]() Joe is a worthy combatant. Together we joined Zelkarune's Horns; it is an excellent organization to continue my combat training and a meeting ground for potential allies for my cause. Together Joe and I were able to vanquish our foes in the arena, and gained admittance. I cannot wait to see his melee skills mix with my ranged skills on a proper field of battle. Id is also a curious fellow. I will have to watch him closely, he constantly tells me how powerful he is, and if this proves true he will make a very powerful ally. Though I fell he may be less powerful than he would lead me to believe. When the party entered the well and all hell broke loose I thought we may have lost some lives, but so far we have all prevailed. I happened to find a secret door and am very interested at what surprises will be found behind it. As for the rest of the party, they are taking the battle to our foes through an illusionary wall. So far we are victorious but only time will tell if fate still favors us. Unfortunately I think the well is the least of our problems. ![]()
![]() My name is Sakeema, I’m an Elf, but from where I do not know. When I was just an infant my home village was attacked and destroyed by unknown enemies. For some reason I was either missed or left behind by the aggressors. From what I’ve been told by my caretakers, I was left alone for what must have been days, in the ruins of my village. A caravan of Halflings found me and took me with them. It was they that gave me the name Sol Wunder. Eventually they took me to Sasserine and left me at an orphanage. They never did tell the Orphanage the particulars of where they found me. However, before the Halflings left they gave my caretakers a broach, which they found with me in the ruins. At an early age I knew I was different from the other children. I always longed for a simple life with nature rather than the constant noise of the city. I often got in trouble for bringing sick and wounded animals back to the orphanage and caring for them. I was told that there was not always enough food for my peers and it was folly to waste it on mere animals. Eventually they would take away my dinner if it was discovered that I had animals in the building. I spent many hungry nights thinking about my family and the revenge I wanted to take on their behalf. As I grew older the other children would gang up on me and beat me up for always breaking the rules, in regards to my “pets.” I was then that I learned that humans are not always to be trusted and that the only way to win a fight is to choose to fight only when I have an advantage, often striking from a distance to put the odds more in my favor. It was after a particularly brutal beating that I decided to run away from the orphanage. In a nearby forest I met a very old, nearly blind elf, named Rossum. He agreed to teach me the way of the Ranger, but only if I retuned to the orphanage. Every night I would sneak out to the edge of the city and he would train me in the ways of the ranger and my heritage. It was after my last lesson he proclaimed that there was nothing more for him to teach me. However before he departed me that night he told my true name, my elf name, was Sakeema. Now I am old enough and ready to start the hunt for the aggressors on my village. I know that someone somewhere must know some details about the attack. I can feel inside of me, unlike anything else I have ever felt, that members of my village are still alive and once I find them, we will find who is responsible for the destruction of my life. For the glory of my ancestors and Corellon Larethian and by the hand of St. Cuthbert I will hunt them down until my last breath, and I will make them pay for what they did to my village, my family, and me. Recently I found what looks like an adventuring party in a series of tunnels beneath Parrot Island. They seemed very eager to meet me. I’m not sure, but something doesn’t seem completely on the up and up with them. I will spend some time with them to see what they motives are. By the looks of things it appears they can use all the help they can get. If they prove trustworthy, perhaps they could be allies in my search. |
