As the bard inspires himself and others he casts a spell putting a series of biting words in play!

attack: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 1 = 222d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 1 = 11

The song lasts inspiring his comrades as the biting words impose discordant sonic daage!!

Diurn and Wolf suggest going south.

Wolf stays at Hurik's right side in the first row as Diurn trails them both at about 10 feet back.

The bard follows the others as they avoid triggering the painting giving it a wide berth.

The bard moves to scan the painting to see if there is any way to stop this.

Diurn begins to play a low and soothing song on his flute.

He gestures, and his dog leads the way sniffing the air.

Diurn makes a light appear on his shoulder as they enter the cave.

Diurn makes a few test cuts of the air with his rapier.

"Right in front of you and behind Hurik."

I think one first level heal is good if you don't have a healing wand or healer's gloves. I think healer's gloves is the first item you prioritize at 80gp -- one heal at level 1 now that you have level 2 spells is a good idea.
Diurn does have soothe, so it is not as important is it would be if you were the only one with healing spells.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn nods to Kheyji:
"We have stopped her from preying upon the gentle creatures of the land for pure sport. She is responsible for the deaths of her dwarven followers. Others paid for her crimes, but now she will pay for hers in the lands."

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn helps examine her equipment, checking for magic.

He helps sort through the hunters equipment for useful items.

Diurn tells their translator ”There are no conditions on her surrender! She refused a peaceful settlement.”

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Shepherding mammoths (my background) and I am going to let this noble ^&*&$%$# hunt these gentle creatures (we love our manatees in florida, gentle mammals that get killed by boats). Yes i am invested!!

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn sees the battle turning and steps five feet to the left.

He fires another wash of colors as he continues to inspire his friends.

The colors wash over all three foes as Diurn lines then up.

We do get credit for trying to avert this.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn will attempt to get his bardic song started early now that combat seems likely. Flute in hand he wants his group inspired as soon as he can.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

"You don't want any of this!!"

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

How many more mammoths will she kill over her lifetime??

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

”She is not allowed to hunt OUR mammoths here.”

Diurn reflects on the arrogant attitude and his fondness for the mammoths he watched. He looks for confirmation and support from the others after saying:

”She won’t be hunting ANY mammoths here. Get ready for action Hurik. This is one we don’t let go.!!”

Thanks Kheyji!! Good RP moment there.

Diurn remembers he is the new guy. He still trusts the vets he joined. The voice of Sister Cinder is special.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn looks from one of his new friends to the other. He sees the value of keeping his word. Once lost it is hard to find again.

He shrugs his hands at Hurik and tells the truth.

"Our mammoths are off limits, and you do not want to try us. We would much rather be friends and not get violent, but this is VERY important to us."

Diurn sides with their moral voice, he was good with people. The message they wanted to tell was Kheyji's to decide.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn was not used to lying, but in this case it could avoid bloodshed.

"My huge friend here tells me of a great mammoth that would make an excellent trophy three days travel in this direction."

It is truthful, but probably a bluff Hoping Diplomacy +8 hidden but probably +4 deception untrained

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn emphasizes that no mammoths are for sale. In fact, hunting mammoths that are with them is not allowed. As a former shepherd of large mammoths, he will not allow any mammoths he has watched grow up be harmed.

He speaks to the group.
"This may get rough. Some do not understand our way of life."

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

"There are mammoths that are part of our following that are not to be hunted. They are coming soon, and after they pass you can resume your hunting. We will wait with you until this happens."

Diurn tries to be as diplomatic as possible.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn invited the halfling to help and translate or help with the diplomacy.

Diurn heads up the hill. He felt being honest was the best way to proceed. He mimes that the four of them is with a 'large group' that includes 'large four legged animals' and pointing to his heart that these animals are very dear to the four of them and the large group.

He mimes that the hunters and the four of them should be 'smiling and happy together' rather than (shaking his no) 'fighting and mad at each other' as he mimes conflict.

Diurn makes it clear they will be with the hunters until the following passes by and they can share a good time together.

Hidden check I think Diplomacy +8

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn is considering the direct approach.

Tell them their tribe is off limits for hunting, and hope he can convince them to stand down as the following passes. Being as diplomatic as possible of course.

Thoughts??

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn nods and continues up.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

"We need to find a way to get everyone around without incident or stop them. Maybe something like creating smoke to obscure their vision of the following?"

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn stays with the observation group.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

”Can we lead the following around this ambush spot??”

Lets go for no contact.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn agrees quietly and continues to pantomime the negative when miming with his fingers the mammoths.

Now is the time to bring out the flute. A series of grating notes erupt from his flute. He shakes it as if something is wrong with it.

performance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn nods and makes a mimic of mammoths and shakes his head no.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

"Mammoths coming!!" Dirun reinforces the pantomime, using his hands to convey and big creature and his fingers to show a creature walking on four legs.

He hustles up to join her and get a good look.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn begins to play his flute as they approach, knowing surprise is no longer an issue. He cannot understand the speaker, so he prepares to communicate with signs.

If we can, might be good to have Miri try a second day. That ritual seems worthwhile.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn realizes he cannot benefit, so he wishes Miri the best and does not participate.

Human Bard (Maestro) 3 HP: 35/35 | AC 18 |Per+8 | Fort +6 /Ref +8/ Will +8 Focus 2/2

Diurn explains his revelation to the others.

"We can study this 'apaku' for a day, and we may know how to do things like the magic making these animated swords. I suggest we all participate, as we never know who has the aptitude for things."

He reflects on the earlier experiences he heard about from others. Rather than keeping his disappointment to himself, he decides it is time to share.

"I missed out on your first hunt and other things involving tending animals. But I am truly glad to share this experience with you all. I hope I can help, but I barely understand these strange forces myself."
