Dhavyn accepted the wand with a nod. He would do his best to help his companions heal up. To Taryn, he listened and then gave a shrug but nodded. "That...sounds like it would be the best way to get to the bottom of this. Or at least to get the attacks to come to us."

Even Dhavyn looked askance at Wesh for his not-at-all diplomatic approach to haggling. It was like bullying robbery. He shook his head. He saw the half-completed mastheads but knew he had no hand for carving himself, so that wasn't an option. He pondered her counter-offer and looked at his allies. He gave a shrug to indicate he was willing unless someone had a better idea.

Dhavyn nodded to Wesh. "That is good information to have, though the name of the ship would possibly imply that as well." He paused. "I am good at talking with people normally, though I thought we were going to pick up a masthead? Are we expected to go shopping and find a masthead?" Diplomacy +8. Did I misunderstand our orders with all the cursing?

Dhavyn was fine with things right up until the mouth like a sailor woman started going off on them for no reason. He blinked several times, eyes a bit wide. He'd heard coarse language before, of course - you can't go on a ship and not hear some! But she used it way too much! He got the gist of their mission, however. He shook his head after she walked away and turned to go after the new carved masthead. "Well. She was delightful, wasn't she? I look forward to many more tongue-lashings from her on our journey." There might have been a bit of sarcasm in that...but only a bit. If I'm not too late and if it still matters?

Dhavyn awoke slowly, consciousness drifting towards him at a leisurely pace. He struggled to open his eyes, but they finally popped open and he blinked several times to try and banish the sleep from them. He made a small noise of complaint as he forced his body to move and begin stretching. He climbed out of bed and washed himself thoroughly. Then he dressed and headed downstairs to see about breakfast and then the 'chores' the captain had referred to.

Well, I know we're keeping the potions, the everburning torch, I claimed one amulet not sure about the other - maybe the tanglefoot bags as they could be useful? The rest I'm fine with selling if no one else claims it.

Dhavyn gave a nod of respect to the captain as he bade them farewell. He turned to Barnabus and Wesh. "Well then. Shall we go see about offloading some of this loot and divvying up the cash then?" He smirked at Wesh, "Though it seems like you other plans already, so I guess we shall have to catch up with you later for your share." He opened his mouth to ask which inn Wesh was staying at and then dismissed it. "Come to think of it, I suppose we will just see you in the morning when we all gather to start helping with whatever chores the captain has for us to get the ship ready." Dhavyn's plan is go try and sell the stuff that they won't be using and then get the money split up in to pouches to hand out (depending on whether it's to all five or just the three involved in the fight). And yes, he is planning on being honest about it since he will be sailing with them for the short term at least, cheating your allies is bad form and can make for a quick death.

Dhavyn gave Barnabus a respectful nod in return, a small smile fleetingly slipping across his lips. He cast Detect Magic and looked over the spear and then the two remaining potions indicated by Dain. His eyes lit up a bit as he looked over the spear and one of the potions, seeming to indicate he could tell what they were possibly. He glanced at Capricia and shrugged. "I have some limited ability to cast healing spells, though that is not my primary focus usually. Are you injured?" Hmm. Large crew. Big ship?" He was a little disappointed that they were told to forgo the rest of the festival, but the prospect of work and then treasure-hunting thrilled him! He picked up one of the amulets, glancing inquiring at Barnabus and Dain for any objection before donning it. Dhavyn could toss in 200 gp towards a wand. I also suggest we sell most if not all of the non-magic stuff and divvy that up. I leave it to the group if they want to include Capricia and Dain in that split since they weren't in the fight, lol. Dhavyn nodded to the captain's dismissal of the 'plunder'. It had been only prudent to check. He was just joining her crew, after all. He listened as she spoke up about Redclaw, the woman, the myth and her treasure. He soaked it all up, nodding slowly. The arm sounded very interesting indeed, but theoretically they would be dealing with guardians leftover and not the pirate herself. "You say she disappeared? Not killed or her ship was sank or anything, but...disappeared?" He frowned as an uncomfortable thought hit him that they might have to deal with Redclaw after all, or a version of her. He kept that quiet for the moment, as there was no sense in bringing it up without proof. "So there will be others after the treasure and/or you as well. Disappointing but not surprising." He glanced at Wesh but then looked back to the captain and suppressed a chuckle. He saw the joke now in using the term 'featherbrain' earlier. He took the Tengu's name and made a mental note, thinking if he had heard of him before, but the name didn't ring any bells. Knowledge Local on Hyrix Snowfeather: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Dhayvn kept heading up the stairs, giving a nod to the bosun that introduced himself. He rolled his eyes at Capricia with her antics and long-windedness. He glanced at Barnabus and Dain, shaking his head. He didn't respond otherwise to her claim to being first or anything else she spouted off about, mostly ignoring her in favor of focusing on the bosun and the captain. "A pleasure to meet you both. I look forward to this treasure hunt. I am Dhavyn Stormborn." He paused and saw the name on the treasure in the manifest. "I'll sign up but I would like to know a bit more about the treasure we are seeking, how long of a journey does it look to be, do you know of anyone or anything guarding the treasure, etc? Any information can be helpful if we are to serve alongside you properly." He went ahead and signed his name regardless, however. Then he began looking over the loot and splitting it up in to equal shares - and looking to the captain to see if she expected one - for himself, Barnabus, and Wesh since they were the only ones involved in the fight after all. He noticed the rum and gave a little shudder, still not fully recovered from his earlier drinking contest binge and after-effects.

Yup! I sort of indicated that previously, <grin>, but to make certain... Dhavyn kept on moving, determined to be the first to arrive, or barring that tied with Barnabus for 'first'. He glanced back at Dain and called out, "Hurry, hurry, or you'll be late!" He let out a small chuckle.

Dhavyn skidded to a stop at the sight of the brawl going on before him. He let out a small snort of amusement as he contemplated how to get past all of them. He gave a shrug and decided simplicity was the way to go. So he drew some sand of various colors mixed together from his pouch, spoke a few words and blew it towards the combatants. Dhavyn let out a small groan and wiped his mouth. "Ugh. Too much. Throwing up alcohol is like a crime." He gagged but didn't throw up again. He looked up blearily at the man talking to him. He blinked in no comprehension before he realized the man was offering him water. He took it gratefully and drank, including swishing around and spitting once before drinking to swallow. "Thank you." Only after that did he smile, as before he might have still had grossness in his mouth. He looked over at the dwarf and gave a nod. "Good showing." And then to both the dwarf and human he said, "I'm Dhavyn Stormborn. Nice to meet you both." He picked himself up and let out a long breath, wincing slightly. Dhavyn put his new-found winnings away in his pouch, which then hung around his neck and tucked in to his shirt. He started to see what else the place had to offer, but something happened. He was brought along with the crowd, like a ship on the tide, the pull inexorable but not entirely unwelcome. He looked around a bit, but then his attention was completely drawn to the speaker with the mask. His lips quirked up in a smile a bit as he listened. He shook his head but his feet stepped him forward. He gave a shrug. "Sure, I'm new. I'll give it a try." He smiled up at the cleric and woman. Dhavyn looked around the town slowly, a bemused look on his face. He didn't begrudge anyone celebrating a slave escape, and he certainly didn't begrudge anyone having a good time, especially with alcohol involved! A smile slowly crept on to his face and he strode forward. He was almost immediately bumped into by a couple drunkenly staggering off to find some quiet place....well, maybe not quiet but out of the way. The man burped an apology and thrust the half-finished mug of ale in to Dhavyn's hands as way of further apology apparently. Dhavyn frowned for a moment but then sniffed the drink and shrugged before downing it. No sense in wasting free rum. He started weaving his way through the crowds, setting the empty mug down randomly. There was so much noise, so many people, it was a bit overwhelming. Finally, he ducked into a tavern just to get a bit away from the press of people. He found himself in an old bar called The Leaning Drunk...and the place was made of wood and did actually lean a bit. It was oddly nice and disconcerting at the same time to him. "Here now, here's a likely lad!" Dhavyn turned to look at a back table with several pirates at it, with several sets of cups and dice on the table's top. One of the pirates, an older human with white stringy hair, missing teeth and an eye patch over his left eye was waving at Dhavyn. "C'mon over here, lad! Join us in a game o'Liar's Dice! We'll even buy yer first drink for ya!" Two of the other pirates at the table rolled their eyes and shook their heads but didn't say anything. Dhavyn wandered over and slowly sat down. "Very well. I suppose I could play, if you teach me the rules." The pirates, of course, were looking to fleece the young Undine. On other side of things, though, he knew well what Liar's Dice was and used the time they were teaching him to learn more about them and their 'tells'. He nodded though with a slight frown. "Okay. I think I've got it. Let's play for real this time." He set down 1 gold like the others did. The first round went through with "4 Ones!", "5 Threes!" and so on. Dhavyn won the first hand as the pirates 'let' him, to hook him in, telling him he was a natural and such. The second round went a little differently and Dhavyn lost, but not a lot of money. The third and fourth rounds were much the same, the stakes rising a bit each time. On the fifth round Dhavyn acted hesitant and 'let' himself be baited into a bigger bid. But he ended up winning, exclaiming how he couldn't believe he'd won. The sixth and last round was a little smaller of a pot that Dhavyn lost to assuage their potential anger over him winning the bigger pot. Then he bought them each a drink and left the tavern, counting himself lucky not to have gotten in to a fight. With drunk and gambling pirates, you never could tell. @Barnabus, So I was reading your background a bit and had a thought. I'm not sure it would make sense for Dhavyn to have grown up in Ilizmagorti as it's a bit on the rougher side of things but...maybe your father helped Dhavyn's father escape with Dhavyn's mother? But then if Dhavyn wasn't born til later that's not much of a connection. Hmm. Maybe Ilizmagorti wouldn't be so bad to have been where Dhavyn grew up. I would say that maybe Dhavyn's father was on the same ship, but I don't want to shoehorn in on your background lol. |
