Devon puts a comforting hand on Dora's shoulder. "It was regrettable, but we did what we had to do. Absalom is finally safe from the Rumormonger's schemes..."

Devon turns aside from the steam, only getting slightly scalded. He grits his teeth and grabs his sword in two hands. "In Cayden's name!" he declares as he smites the vile Vancaskerkin!
"When the sudden but inevitable betrayal comes, we'll be ready," Devon says resolutely. "For now, let's root out Reginald. Onwards!"
Devon gives Jack a quizzical look as Dora finishes tending to his wounds. "I don't know anything about that. Let's find Vancaskerkin and kick his butt again!"
Devon lays hands on himself, healing some of his injuries. "Yes, thank you. We should take a few minutes to heal and refocus, but we shouldn't wait too long. Vancaskerkin has to be lurking about here somewhere."
"Woo! Let's go!" Devon shouts as he follows Jack, leaping, spinning, and dodging gears in his heavy armor. He grins at Dora when he reaches the end of the hall. "I can do this all day!"
"I would not be a proper Caydenite if I did not celebrate with a drink!" Devon declares, retrieving his magical flask. "Though just a small one for now. As you say, here is work to do!" He takes a long swig, then passes it around to his companions.
Devon moves to engage the automatons, blocking the walkway with his shield to protect Dora and Dani. His fiery blade scores two critical hits!
"Yes. We'll atone later if we have to, but Cayden Cailean certainly doesn't mind us taking down a villain like that on our own terms," Devon says confidently!
"I'm hanging!" Devon calls back. He raises his shield again and attacks!
Mr. Snips is too slow to avoid being caught in the force cage! "Nice work, Dani!" Devon says with a grin. "Now, in Cayden's name, we will prevail!" The champion rushes forward to attack Twisted Jack!
"If we know he's in there, and we're fairly sure he's alone, then perhaps it's best to just kick in the door and deal out swift justice!" Devon says. "Oh, but remember he's got that golem, too! Mr. Snips! We should assume he keeps it close by his side."
Fortunately, Devon's belt of lifting allows him to easily bear the burden of Dora's petrified body. He carefully hauls her along as you exit the sewers and return to the surface. You find a safe space to watch over Dora as Jack hustles to the market and procures a scroll of stone to flesh. Devon is able to activate the divine magic and restore Dora to life once more! The champion throws his arms around the sorceress in a tight hug. "Cayden be praised! I thought we'd lost you!"
Devon turns in time to see Dora completely transform into a statue! "DORA!" he shouts, rushing to her side, but there's nothing he can do. He carefully reaches out to touch her marble face, tears beginning to well in his eyes. "What do we do? We have to be able to change her back somehow! Right?"
"Back to Miogimo for our next task," Devon says distastefully. "With luck, we'll be almost done playing his game, and then we can finally learn how to rescue Primarch Starborn from the Black Whale prison."
Devon grimaces as the magic sucks the moisture from his body, but he still has enough presence of mind to protect Dora.
Devon nods solemnly. ”By Cayden’s grace, I live, and I will not let that monster take me down again. In Cayden’s name, we will prevail!” The champion invokes his deity’s protection as he waits for the naga to return.
Devon places his hand on Dora’s. ”Thanks. I’m fine to press on. There can’t be much more ahead of us, Cayden willing. Let’s finish our task here!”
Devon lands one hit this time.
Devon keeps his shield up and strikes back twice!
Though Dora has never seen these particular creatures before, she recognizes some of the properties of the oozes they've apparently been fused with. The creatures are immune to acid, critical hits, and precision damage. They have no particular weaknesses, and their attacks are highly acidic! Devon grits his teeth as he moves in, raising his shield and striking at the lead slime goon!
Or not!
Devon and Jack team up to take down another giant mushroom. Two remain!
Devon keeps his shield up as he slices at the mushroom grabbing him!
"Grimwold probably is interested in what we've learned," Devon says. "Maybe we can just do a dead drop sort of thing and tell him where to find it. Or Jack could slip away on his own, since he's good at sneaking. Either way, I agree that meeting in person is too dangerous. Let's just get ready for the next hoop Miogimo wants us to jump through."
"I will not willingly consign a man to death," Devon says. "But I am uncertain how best to proceed without spoiling our attempt to get the information we need from Miogimo. I will defer to your judgment, but if we do not alter the delivery, then we should be ready to foil the Sisters' assassination attempt against Grimwold."
Devon pulls Dani into a warm embrace. ”Dani... Do not worry. I won’t let her hurt you. You are strong on your own, but we are even stronger together. We will be brave and confident, as Cayden teaches. And if there any shackles binding you to this Sister still, then we will break them, and you will be free once more.”
Devon glances back and sees Dani's distress. He steps up to her and takes her hand. "Hey, you okay? What's bothering you, honey?"
"This is perfect! Hold onto me, ladies," Devon says, holding an arm out each to Dani and Dora. He holds them close as he bends his knees, then he leaps through the open window! "In Cayden's name!" he laughs, sailing through the air and traveling almost 70 feet before landing gently in the street, far away from the meddling Edgewatch agents!
"Probably. Dani had always been very... guarded about certain things," Devon says, frowning. "Even since she embraced Cayden's philosophies, she still had a hard time being open. I hope it is nothing untoward, but I respect her enough to not pry." Despite his words, it's clear that his wife's secrets bother him.
"I'm doing alright," Devon says to Dora. He seems surprised when she takes his hand, but he goes with it. "I've been ousted from the watch before, and so long as I have a mug of ale and Cayden Cailean watching over me, I'll survive. At least this time it's just part of a ridiculously convoluted plan to root out the big bads of Absalom and take them down." He turns a charming smile on the sorceress. "I like spending time with you, too. But how are you holding up? I know you were pretty chummy with Reginald Vancaskerkin. What are you going to do when we see him again?"
Devon tries to start a brawl, but he pulls his punches too much as he is worried about hurting his fellow Starwatch agents.
Devon whispers, "Vancaskerkin's poisoned Lavarsus against us, whether through lies, magic, or both. But this is part of Wynsal's plan to lure out the rest of the Twilight Four. We should go along with it for now."
Devon produces another Harrow card to try to convince the Rabbit Prince to stand down. "We're running out of cards! Dani, Dora, one of you has to get through to him!"
Devon piggyback on Jack's success, further increasing the Rabbit Prince's doubts. "Keep it up, Dora!" the champion says, sighing with relief as Dani's magic heals his wounds.
"Ow! That hurts!" Devon exclaims. Feeling the haste magic take effect, the champion lays hands on himself before moving to follow the Rabbit Prince, attacking again. This time, though, he raises his shield to ward off further blows.
Steeling his will against the Prince's magic, Devon moves to flank with Jack! "Keep trying to get through to him!" he exhorts Dani as he lands a hit.
Devon chops at the worms swarming over him, knocking them away!
Devon spasms as the lightning zaps him, but he remains resolute. He cuts down his foe with two powerful chops!
Devon's will is ironclad as he disbelieves the illusory worms. "They aren't real! Don't let them fool you!" shouts the champion as he rushes to attack one of the worms that walk!
"Not all villains are ugly, Dani. Indeed, the pretty ones are more insidious, as it's harder to see them coming," Devon says. "Shall we continue exploring Harrowland?"
Devon is simply too courageous to be affected by the terrifying touch! He responds with two slashes of his sword and a raised shield.
"Live and learn, I suppose," Devon says, laying hands on himself again before praying to Cayden to restore his focus. "Better we dealt with the fiend than some other unsuspecting passerby fall prey to it!"
"Back to hell with you!" Devon declares, smiting the fiend. Between his holy blade and Jack's precise stabs, the devil finally falls!
Devon takes the full fireball blast again, though this time he is able to intervene to protect Dora! He lays hands on himself before firing two more spines that the devil dodges. "We have to either get up there or bring it down here!"
The devil avoids banishment!
Devon cries out in pain as the flames scorch him. He raises his spiked shield and fires two of the spines at the devil.
"Don't worry, Grulph. In Cayden's name, we will free Nandy and bring this Rabbit Prince to justice!" Devon declares. He helps escort the blinded man to a safe hiding place before turning to the rest of you. "Where should we begin our search?"
"Honey, you took the words right out of my mouth. To the Tipsy Tengu!" Devon declares.
Champion 14 Aura of Righteousness
Devon continues to navigate the maze, finding the exit!
As he reappears, he moves in behind the undead to smite it. "Flank with me, Jack! Let's finish it off!"
"No! Damn it!" Devon curses as he rushes through the magic maze, looking for the exit.
