Hearing that the ratfolk escaped with the slaver, Denizabyss helps to gather up all the loot and helping the slaves get ready for transport back through the portal. He casts Prestidigitation on Crugeon to clear off the gore and then casts it again making a mini cat chase an even smaller mouse around in circles to help keep Crugeon entertained while everyone else finishes gathering any useful from the area including the scholar's books and other useful items. Well done everyone! I, for one, am grateful to be in the company of very capable and trustworthy comrades! I suggest we head to the nearest tavern after we get back and this stuff to the Pathfinder Society. What's everyone else think? Another adventure successfully and safely completed and justice was served to those who deserved it while also freeing those who did not!, he thinks to himself.
M Human Warpriest
If we have a chance to follow or talk with the one that ran away, then I'm all for it but if it would be for naught then I'm good with dropping out of combat and moving on to get the adventure complete. Unless we should pursue to meet some objectives of the scenario Not hearing any response, Denizabyss cautiously steps out and attempts to find out where the ratfolk went. Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
LOL, well I guess I can't notice much of anything
M Human Warpriest
Ah thanks, David, didn't realize we would have others so I'll change to trying to see the person coming behind and shooting at him. If I notice the guy sneaking up on me, just use the attack rolls without the -4 since he doesn't have cover. Do I need to do a Perception check or will you do that? Denizabyss takes a quick 5' step to get a better line of sight but unfortunately, he still has some cover. He shoots both arrows hoping to quickly finish the fight.
M Human Warpriest
Assuming either the red dude dropped or Crugeon will just continue hitting him so going to put my round in to keep things moving Denizabyss takes a quick 5' step to get a better line of sight but unfortunately, he still has some cover. He shoots both arrows hoping to quickly finish the fight. Longbow to Hit: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 4 = 15 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Longbow to Hit: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 4 = 21 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
M Human Warpriest
Inspired by Barboo, Denizabyss takes a quick 5' step to get a better line of sight and shoots another arrow at the one in front hoping to take her out of the fight. Longbow to Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 He then follows up with another shot Shooting the same one again if still standing, otherwise, shooting the next in line Longbow to Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
M Human Warpriest
Yeah, sneak naps is definitely funny! Denizabyss watches for any sign or noises that the Aspis leader has returned while Barboo continues to talk to the cat. Once she is done, he continues discussing with the group how and where to set up a potential ambush and thinking that sitting behind the opening where the tree fell could allow for seeing anyone enter as well as the tree and ice providing a round or two of attacks before any melee could respond.
M Human Warpriest
I think the armor I have on is better than the chain shirt so will just stick with it. I'm fine with talking with the scholar again as she at least is now bound. Gag can be taken on/off as needed to talk. Good thought about grabbing the book from the fire! From the way she talked, though, I'm not sure she would provide info on the number of guards but can try. Also, if we set up where they would normally come before seeing any of their people, they wouldn't notice nobody is there unless they have some sort of signal which we may want to ask about as well.
M Human Warpriest
Feeling that they've gotten all they could from the scholar, Denizabyss binds and gags the scholar so that she can't cause any more trouble especially when this leader Leska comes back. Having failed to identify the map directly, Denizabyss uses a scroll of Identify on the map. Crugeon, if the chain shirt fits, I think it would look awesome on you! Assuming that Lem searched the previous area for any treasures or other things that might be useful prior to the next conversation So Lem, did you find any other guards or signs of guards? Anything we need to check out? After hearing from Lem on what he found. Hmm. I wonder if we might be able to spring a trap on the leader and the missing guards? I'm sure she would know about the Haunt and would avoid the area so would most likely come through where Lem found signs of their camp. We could set up near there to catch them unawares as with the loss of Throck, we might be outnumbered in the next fight and need every advantage we can get. We could possibly catch them coming across the ice before they notice their Aspis comrades are out of the action. Thoughts?
M Human Warpriest
Saddened by the unexpected exit of Throck, I'll miss that slow-moving rock of a dwarf! He helps gather up the found items I suggest that we use the scrolls of false life and bear's endurance on Crugeon and Lem before we run into a large mob of Aspis or at least right before we sneak attack others! Turning back to the desk, he attempts to identify the map
He also attempts to remember any additional information that might be useful about the statues
Hey Lem, maybe you should keep the bronze Aspis badge in case you are caught off-guard while scouting ahead so that you might be able to bluff your way out! If the scholar can be interrogated:
Spoiler: Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 1 = 20 Who and where is the leader of this expedition? Where are the other Aspis members? Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 = 29
M Human Warpriest
As Lem is about to scout other areas, Denizabyss clasps his shoulder. Be careful Lem, I feel we've been pretty lucky so far as we were led to expect many Aspis in the area but we have yet to come across them. He then continues searching the area for anything useful or more information about the Aspis, their forces, and what they are doing here.
M Human Warpriest
Phew, glad that is over! Great job everyone! Hopefully, we can find some useful information in here! He casts Detect Magic to see if anything interesting can be found. Denizabyss checks the two Aspis agents and looks around the room. He casts Guidance and then moves around the room. Perception: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 = 23
M Human Warpriest
Watching Crugeon's amazing charge into the knife twirler makes Denizabyss smile. I didn't expect this one to be able to take this much damage but this time, the other one is going down! He fires 2 arrows in the blink of an eye at the scholar. Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/Flagbearer/Inspire/Rapid Fire: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 7 - 4 = 4 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 The first one sticks into a book on the desk! Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/Flagbearer/Inspire/Rapid Fire: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 4 = 14 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
M Human Warpriest
No worries David! Maybe we should get Justin to provide bot instructions for when he can't post Seeing that everyone is in place, Denizabyss fires his longbow at the lady in blue hoping to quickly take down the scholar. assuming the scholar has cover due to the desk in front, if not, then just add back the -4 I took off the roll Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/Flagbearer/Guidance: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 1 - 4 = 16 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 I'll wait until everyone has gone in the surprise round to see what happened prior to any actions in the normal round
M Human Warpriest
Preparing for the upcoming battle, Denizabyss casts Guidance immediately followed by Resistance and moves slowly into the room. Stealth: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 17 Well looks like it could be one of those low roll days. Hopefully, they are too distracted by whatever they are doing to notice.
M Human Warpriest
I quickly gag the slaver upon hearing the news from Lem. I also give him a good hit on the head to try and knock him out as we don't need any additional surprises from him! I think that since these are the Aspis and based on the information provided by these folks, we can assume that they are going to be hostile. I would rather sneak attack than let them get a chance to retaliate or call for help as we are definitely outnumbered here. We need to fight on our terms, not theirs! As there are only two of them, let's hold off on using the tanglefoot bag as we may need it against the guards or the leader. I think that we should take out Cathixia first as she was identified as the scholar so I would equate that to be some type of magic user to be on the safe side. We don't need her casting sleep or some other spell that would take out most of our group! What are everyone's thoughts? We should act quickly though before we are discovered by any other groups. I will take my time and sneak around to get a clear shot on the one that is the scholar (blue) and Study Target in anticipation of our sneak attack.
M Human Warpriest
Denizabyss hands the scroll of lesser restoration to Barboo in case we need it later. Yep, this new armor should serve me well, he thinks after donning the armor. He turns to the slaver to try to get some additional information. Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Who else is here and where are they at? He also checks out the cat again as with the slaver awake, he wants to make sure no tricks happen as this isn't a place for a regular cat and the slaver doesn't look to be very sentimental. Nature(Nature/Monster Lore): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
M Human Warpriest
Lem, thanks for binding that guy. That encounter with the haunt seems to have made your clothes fit a little tighter. Hehe. @Matt, glad you're back safe! Hope you enjoyed yourself! This guy seems to have decent stuff for a slaver. Denizabyss looks over the Slaver's stuff. Denizabyss incants Cùisean a 'lorg draoidheachd and casts Detect Magic. Picking up the scroll, Denizabyss incants a 'lorg draoidheachd and casts Read Magic. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Hey Barboo, you want to check over these things, I can't figure out what they are If the studded leather is not needed by any others and is better than his Lamellar cuirass, he will swap armors if time is available. Afterwards, he scouts the stairs and notices the shifting shadows. Quietly talking with his fellow party members,
Denizabyss tries to get a better view of who or what is in the room without being seen. If I can take 10 Stealth: 10 + 8 = 18 If not, Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
M Human Warpriest
Not sure if anyone else has gone to CincyCon before but for $20 for the weekend pass and sign-ups for Pathfinder on Warhorn, it looks to be a cheap gaming weekend. I think I'm going to go and I brought it up to Craig as well. I'll probably go down for a Friday afternoon session and then Saturday morning and afternoon. I'll probably end up just playing some pre-gens since I don't have any others available at the lower levels or maybe my Magus for the 3-7 or 5-9. http://cincycon.org/ Let me know of any thoughts or possibly going as well so that we might be able to hook up on the same games. I haven't signed up for any game sessions yet but there aren't a ton like Origins but should be fun.
M Human Warpriest
I guess we did our job too good! and we'll have to chat with him when he wakes up Great job everyone! Awesome hit there Crugeon! I'm glad you're on my side! Lem, would you mind binding this guy's arms and legs? As Lem is binding up the slaver, Denizabyss turns to the slaves We are friends and are not here to hurt you. He slowly moves towards them in the best unthreateningly way possible and asks Do you need any food or drink or healing? He incants Casg Uisge Cruthachail and casts Create Water for any of the slaves in need. Barboo, maybe you could talk with the slaves to see if they can provide us some information. Besides, they may be more inclined to provide us the information anyways. He helps where he can and then goes about searching the area. Denizabyss incants Cùisean a 'lorg draoidheachd and casts Detect Magic. Denizabyss looks around the area including in the circular area looking for anything magical or interesting while Barboo talks with the slaves and waiting for the Slaver to wake up. Denizabyss Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
M Human Warpriest
Well, I guess we should probably question this guy for additional information. As everyone gets into position, Denizabyss lets loose his nocked blunt-arrow at the Slaver. Put on the -4 for non-lethal from lethal weapon at least if I read the rules right Longbow to Hit after Study Target/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 4 = 7 Longbow non-lethal Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Denizabyss' first arrow flies into the ground as he didn't take into account the difference in weight from the blunted arrow. Sniping Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 20 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 20 = -8 Didn't think it would work but why not at least try. After the surprise round, if the slaver is still standing, Denizabyss fires 2 blunt-arrows into the Slaver. Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/RapidShot/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 4 = 21 Longbow non-lethal Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
If he is still up at this point, he will definitely be hurting!
M Human Warpriest
Denizabyss motions Throck to move over and get into position to protect us squishies! If Barboo's singing alerts the Slaver, let me know as Denizabyss will take the stance that the Aspis are here and being a slaver, he is a "bad" guy so he will fire on the guy immediately upon loss of surprise. Attack if Seen before everyone in Place, otherwise, when we attack, I'll use the full round/surprise round listed in spoiler.
Spoiler: Surprise round with only 1 action: Longbow to Hit after Study Target/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 If full round available:
Sniping Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 20 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 20 = 3 Well doubt snipe will stick unless everyone is blind.
M Human Warpriest
In preparation for an upcoming combat, Denizabyss casts Resistance on himself and then proceeds slowly and quietly in preparation for taking out the Slave Master. If possible, I would take 10 for Stealth. If I can't, then let me know and I'll roll, otherwise, it is Stealth: 10 + 8 = 18 As he works towards getting a clear shot from cover on the slaver, he catches Lem's encounter with the Haunt. Denizabyss Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 3 = 24
Noticing the haunt has moved on and Lem seems to be fine except for looking a little chilled, he continues moving to get a good shot on the slaver either after Barboo gets information from the cat or if the slaver notices our movements. As he settles in cover, he studies the slaver and identifies a few prime target areas to shoot at Study Target+1 Hopefully, the haunt stays away
M Human Warpriest
Denizabyss looks at the evil carvings and statues and tries to recall any additional information. Denizabyss Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Assuming that Lem comes back and informs the rest of us of what he found After hearing the information from Lem, a disgusted look comes over his face. I dislike any type of slavery. He lowers his voice and talks with the others. Should we try to surprise the slaver and get some questions answered or try to intimidate, bluff, or persuade him to give us additional information?
Denizabyss keeps an arrow nocked and ready regardless of the decision as he definitely doesn't like the area.
M Human Warpriest
Denizabyss tries to get Throck's attention. Hey Throck! Wait up! How well can you climb? It seems 2 of our friends are already up the tree and everything looks clear. Shall we climb the tree and circle back if needed? I would rather stay off the ice myself. Denizabyss climbs over the tree with his fellow adventurers and helps Throck and Barboo as needed over the tree (assuming we are going that way) I'll take 10 or 20 whichever is needed to climb the tree especially since we don't seem to be in any immediate trouble Denizabyss stands on top of the tree and keeps crouched and perceptive as he keeps his arrow nocked and at the ready for any trouble. Denizabyss Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
M Human Warpriest
Hey Crugeon, watch out for that trap! Denizabyss lets out a little sigh. Whew, that was a close one! Lem, do you think you might be able to disable that trap? Denizabyss takes a moment to center himself and casts Detect Magic and attempts to sense if anything appears in the area or possibly even any other magical traps. He continues checking for any magical auras while scouting behind the rest of the team. Would it be a good idea to get Barboo to go ahead and get Flagbearer and Inspiration going as wouldn't they possibly help us with any saves we might need? Plus, not sure we are going to be the stealthy party anyway.
M Human Warpriest
@Barboo, I have a wand of cure light wounds but I also have the spell on my list so I will keep and use as needed. Others may pass as needed or maybe Crugeon or Lem may pass your theirs As Denizabyss comes into the area with his fellow adventurers, he looks around for any signs of the Aspis or other dangers. Denizabyss Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 Well it seems we won't be walking straight across the bridge. I'm not sure I'm a fan of going down as it would put us at a disadvantage in the case of an ambush. Shall we take the outside path or go down the stairs? Denizabyss keeps crouched and perceptive as he keeps his arrow nocked and at the ready for any trouble.
M Human Warpriest
Let's hope that it is as easy to get back as it was to get here. Be wary as even though the Aspis may not be expecting us, they may have set up guards or other eyes to watch for any enemies. Denizabyss quickly surveys the area while preparing for any potential battle or surprises that might occur. Denizabyss Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
M Human Warpriest
@David to keep from causing confusion, just refer to him as Denizabyss. He also purchased Arctic kit/Cold outfit Denizabyss is a rugged man around the age of 30 who shows many battle scars that mirror his wisdom. He is dressed in layers of furs befitting the colder climate. Denizabyss turns to the Master of Spells and asks a few questions. Good Sir. Do you have any idea of the types of creatures or resistance we should be expecting? Do you have any recommended items or additional gear we should take besides our Arctic gear? He turns to the rest of the gathered Pathfinders. I am Denizabyss the Inquisitor for those of you who do not know me. It is imperative that we destroy these interlopers and heretics! I look forward to adventuring and battling with all of you. I am skilled with the longbow and promise to bring swift justice those who oppose us! He acknowledges all of the other pathfinders with a hearty smile and shoulder clap. If nothing else is needed and everyone else is ready, he steps into the tapestry with the rest of the party.
M Human Warpriest
Nice hit Crugeon! Well, that was a tough fight! Let's get them tied up and get ourselves healed up! Hopefully, we won't have any more surprises today! Barboo, I'm not sure we would have survived that encounter without your encouragement and healing! Denizabyss goes and ties up the sleeping and unconscious enemies. Once Lem is healed and back up on his feet. Heya Lem, would you please inspect my knots to make sure these guys can't get away? Knots are not my forte and mainly used to keep my pants from falling down and shoes on. Haha! Denizabyss reloads his crossbow just to be prepared and takes a look outside just to make sure nobody else is coming to help these guys. Well, should we get the authorities to take care of these guys and get the information to VC Dreng? Should we interrogate these guys someplace more secure to find out who wants this information and has been following us? Someone definitely seems to think the information we found is important.
