someone stole a corpse? But why? "Silly goblins," he mutters while walking behind, deeply confused.

After hearing the Sheriff speak, Denche accelerates and catches up. "I came to town to look for work, so if you're thinking about easing your duties by offloading them to us, I'll expect appropriate compensation. I'm sure it's the same for all of us." and he looks at the rest of the group.

Denche wakes up from a dreamless night and makes it downstairs. Seeing almost everyone at the table, he realises he overslept, which is quite unusual. "G'mornin", he says colorlessly.

The half-orc then sits down and stares blankly for a bit. Producing a ready made meal out of his pack, he mumbles that it would just spoil and starts eating it.

The half-orc nods and holds up two fingers to the waitress.

Denche sips his ale with small, quick lifts of his tankard, like when drinking hot soup in a hurry. In his head various fantasy scenarios are being created and dismissed, imagining how the man in front of him could have become the town's guardian. After a while, he snaps out of it and says: "I think the mayor can wait for a day. Everyone needs to calm down and sober up to be useful. I don't know how he plans to hunt boar without a dog, but the odd fella's proposition sounds nice to me."

Turning to face Rak, the ranger adds: "Unless you think it can't wait or are not interested, in which case I'm happy to go alone." The woods always struck the right cords with Denche.

"You're reading my mind." the half-orc waves to the barmaid and grabs a chair besides an empty table. He swings it around and sits down, sighing.
"I'd like to both forget about it and find the truth, it's too tempting."

What do we know? "It was simple for them to come in unnoticed; probably the best day to try. But why??" he glances expectantly at the sheriff.
"The captured one said they were a diversion, but that doesn't make much sense either. The guards were caught completely off guard anyway. For a diversion to make sense, someone must be looking!"

Well yeah, but I wanted to make 10-foot move to also get a flanking bonus myself. I was still within the same threat-er's reach and only his. Now for you. he sneers subconsciously.
I need a rule clarification — does moving without leaving the same threat also provoke an AAO? If so, he does a 5-foot step north, otherwise circles tightly around the dog to be opposite of Rak for flanking purposes.

Denche looks at the ugly creature in front of him, searching for weak spots and then deftly slashes at its head.

"Goblins are silly little idiots, so I doubt we could pry much from them." Pauses, "But a good thought nonetheless, perhaps we could set one free outside town and secretly follow it."

He then marches north, unsheathing his dagger again.

Why not just decrease the count? We'll always have the original in the gameplay thread — this one is more of a ledger though.

I moved the total to the top, so it never has to move again.

"Bah!" Denche turns toward the shriek, trying to recognise it.

perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 I guess?

I hope I won't need my bow.

Don't worry, we'll be fine. Have some fun. :)

Btw, do you keep track of xp and will just let us know when we all reach a new level or do we need to do any bookkeeping?

How much loot micromanaging is there? Can we just assume we find buyers for common stuff and convert to sp/cp?

"Hmpff, thanks. We need to inform the guard. I guess everyone is in a drunken stupor somewhere? How else could they have gotten in in such a number, without anyone noticing?"
Isn't it a bit too smart for them to think of seizing such an opportunity?

"Let's find the sheriff and then trade some of their gear. If nothing, perhaps the small bow strings could be used to repair mine."

Denche curses as his swing yet again fails to connect. Seeing the goblin suddenly flee, he turns around to see what might have caused that change. For all my shouting, he leaves by his own volition?! Could I be any more useless?

Eyeing the other dead goblins: "Everyone ok? Looks like we're safe for a bit."

He returns to the other side of the stage, picks up his torn bow and inspects it. You fail me not when hunting for food, but when my life is at stake?! Must be this solstice and the poor butterflies.

He then jumps down and inspects the corpses for any symbols, emblems or other identifying objects. And pulls out that one arrow he managed to shoot.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 I guess?

At the same time he responds to Rak: "They had nothing relevant to say and my shouting was mostly aimed at making them fearful."

"I need to get my weapons fixed... or replaced. Can you point me to a bowyer and a blacksmith, Father? Do you know if the town is now safe?"
