Description:

Darrid is a beast of a man, standing over six and a half feet and more than filling out the frame. He has a few scars and tattoos, but most noticeable is the large birthmark that runs down the side of his neck and over his shoulder. He is usually seen wearing his scale armor and having his greatsword sheathed on his back. He almost always has a toothy grin on that only gets wider as the situation gets more dangerous.

Background:

As children learn, there is always that bully that gets his way through intimidation and physical size. Luckily for Darrid, that was him.
Darrid grew up on the rough city streets, using his size and charisma to get his way with the other kids. One day he did however bite off more than he could chew and got mixed up with some adults that had a little to much to drink. Darrid surely would have been beaten to death had it not been for a man who knocked one of the thugs out and ran the other off. That man was Groben, priest of Gorum.
Groben took notice of how well Darrid handled himself in the fight and the spirit that drove him. He introduced him to a religion that not only accepted the rough and tumble but encouraged it. How could something like this even exist? Darrid had found his calling. He now goes around preaching the word of Gorum, sometimes with his mouth, sometimes with his fists (or even sword if needed), but always with his heart.
