Glad to see AoW is still getting some play time. I to am currently running an AoW campaign, with 7 players. We only manage an average of 2 sessions a month. Slow going in an adventure path... Probably will be playing for 2 more years as the playerss/characters just finished lifting the siege of Blackwall Keep. The various forums on Paizo have really helped me avoid some pitfalls while running the campaign thus far, especially 3FoE which is quite a needle to thread both in patching holes in plot lines and keeping the deadliness dialed back.. Thanks to all who have put forth creativity in the many threads about the campaign. Long live The Age of Worms!!!

That is a "hob" of Goblins.....

No, Irori is the monastic, or "Monk" god if you will. And of course The Monk class is based on a more Asian flavor combatant. Do all Tieflings have natural weapons in the RAW? I am not familiar with them or skin-walkers. I might be a little too much in the 3.5 frame of mind. I thought Tieflings had a level adjustment for all their special abilities... Not seeing that in a quick search.

I agree as long as you are taking a -5 modifier on every additional attack after the "primary" attack from your character class. I still feel that you are pushing the boundary between "monster, or natural weaponry" and character level progression. My point is that these are not "free" "bonus" attacks.

I can make a 1st level Commoner with Improved Unarmed Strike who can attack with Fist,Fist, Kick,Kick and an Irish Headbutt as a finale on the round, but he won't be very successful.

I think (as always) it comes down to the individual DM and campaign (less Medieval and more Asian flair means more people kung-fu-ing about).

Is there a feat that grants an additional(bonus) unarmed attack that I am not aware of? Or has Improved Unarmed Strike been changed in one of the many expansion books? I keep thinking that what I am saying makes sense....maybe I am missing a key element in this discussion.....

The question of the interaction between unarmed and natural attacks isn't one that you have to get very complicated to come up. You don't have to go beyond CORE and it could come up with a Monk 1/Druid 4. Or anyone assuming the form of a creature by any means and then using the Improved Unarmed Strike feat they have in conjunction with natural attacks. Or a Draconic blooded Sorcerer 1 that takes Improved Unarmed Strike and wants to Claw/Claw/Kick. The topic can come up with a pretty basic Core character with no need of "blurring the lines". Saying that it wasn't the "what the intent of the rules was/should be" couldn't be further from the truth. There are several characters who are designed to use natural attacks and unarmed strikes.

I might be missing some key element of Improved Unarmed Strike. I thought IUS kept a character from suffering an Attack of Opportunity while "unarmed". Am I missing something here?
In the case I am not missing something about that feat, then the new form a character could assume is "armed" with natural weapons and does not need IUS.
The 1st level sorcerer gets two claw attacks at full BAB. It is a supernatural ability spelled out in the class. Where does the "kick" come in?
Are you saying that the Druid/monk attacks as a monk while transformed into a bear? Again I say that would be double dipping....the bear will not be attacking as a monk...it is a bear with bear attacks.

Monsters advance in size/HD. A few (maybe more than a few) can take levels in "classes". Choose what type of creature you want to play. It seems the more we blur the lines here, the more problems there will be. Monsters attack as monsters, with their "natural" or "instinctual" weapons. PC's taking classes attack with weapons (natural or manufactured) that they train with i.e. get better as they gain levels through training/improvement. Trying to gain an extra attack per round by sprouting an extra limb, or having a clawed hand, 4 arms like Wolverine, or headbutting etc. is not what the intent of the rules was/should be. If you want your chracter to be attacking as a "monster" advance them in their "natural" progression of hit dice/size. I completely agree with what Kchaka posted. A character gets a number of attacks per round based on advancement in levels, "monsters" get a number of attacks per round based on their physical bodies/instinct. Any attempt to blend these two seperate progressions is aberrant.

Yes, please cancel the timer from the order and ship what is in stock. Thanks.

This order was placed Jan 19. It seems to be held up due to "products out of stock". It does not mention which items are out. Is there a way to find out which ones are out and drop them from the order so that it can get rolling?

Thanks

Virtually worthless, as you need at least two of them to make a flame drake egg omelet.........

Darkrist: frantically paging through texts.....

Well, that line of text changed from 3.5 to Pathfinder. Belay my last ruleslawyerly post.

Original Poster. Again, I must ask if we are talking "naturally" occurring swarm, or summoned swarm?
Is there a difference? I don't see one. Both follow the same rules afaik.

No difference on the "how to damage/kill it front. Which I realize is the question at hand... However, a cheap and commonly available method to prevent a swarm from touching you is of course Protection from Evil spell. A summoned swarm (unless of "Good" alignment) will not be able to touch your character. Perfect to escape.

Cloudkill should be a swarm buster IMHO. There was some debate about the efficacy in the past.....

Would this be a summoned or naturally occurring swarm we are discussing?

Fantasy....oh yeah fantasy world. I forgot that I was on Paizo message boards.....puts soap-box away....

Derail.... You have to factor in the fact that technology/automation lowers the cost of goods so the "entry level" person can afford to purchase......

You can not selectively blame automation for lack of wages/jobs. All technology could be blamed for this. Economics is fluid and constantly changes as humans change how they go to market.

Farming is not like an automated assembly line. There are many differences in soil, water, temperature, pests etc. that need to be adapted to /modified as you farm. There are many automaton uses for undead. Well-pumper, bellows-blower, grinding wheel pusher...the "energy slave" mentioned above. However, the profession "Farmer" is not that simple.

I think the real question is not how high the INT is, but retaining/ gaining the memories of how to farm / work.... And of course being able to carry out these tasks with minimal supervision and not attacking the craniums of visitors to said operation.

I know it would not be RAW, but adding the Fiendish template (RAW says you can't add to undead) to our undead farmer would grant a 3 INT. Also implied is the ability to speak/understand I assume.....Infernal. This addition, or one similar, would allow a passable farming/laboring creature for all those evil overlords out there to order around to their hearts content. An above post mentioned Infernal contracts. Perhaps this "Template" could be tied in with Infernal power(s)?

On a side note I still think its funny that a mindless undead with NO INTELLIGENCE has a +0 mod, whilst someone with an actual Into score of 8 has a -1 modifier. Seems odd that 'no brain > half of one'.

Maybe undead ignorance IS bliss.......

If I recall correctly, there is a 3.X Dungeon Magazine module called Totentanz wherein there were a lot of undead being created. They sort of continued doing in undeath what they did previously in life. Farmers plowing and harvesting. Shopkeepers haggling silently with their rotted tongues etc. I don't think that it was ever fully explained(rules wise) exactly how this worked. Obviously this was done for creepy effect not economics. However, could this not be a sort of example of how to solve some of these issues. Perhaps there is some sort of template (e.g. Celestial, etc.) that could be added to undead oxen, commoners or whatnot that would have them continue on as though they had not died. Perhaps this is the sort of thing that has happened in Geb?

How long does it take to hack a landing strip through a coastal jungle anyway?

Wow. Having read this entire thread I can actually say I am shocked at the lengths both sides of this argument are going to to defend their "turf". Both sides are like "cargo cult" members building elaborate landing strips for the fruit of their argument to land on... And oh the sadness when the plane never lands. There is only human (and even stranger : Corporate) nature at work here. And any analysis by rabid fan-base or long suffering authors is probably time better spent reading or writing books. There is a rather large world of books (finished and unfinished....) and life experience outside these petty arguments. Enjoy!

I think Cloudkill is a definate swarm destroyer. It seems tailor made to destroy swarms. I would house(over)rule that any day if the official answer was no.....

Pacifico. And just about any Porter or Rye beer to be had.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it... I have seen too many beloved campaign settings and print publications destroyed to make way for new hyperspace- roleplaying- bypasses to participate in "new editions for new editions sake" shenanigans. Remember the "fun police" , and the whole "everybody can get together and play on-line now if only you all buy this subscription to nothing"?? Pathfinder for me.

I was hoping that something of that sort was the case. Thank you for the info.

I placed this order Nov. 23. And noticed my bank had the transaction "pending" a few days ago. The funds never came out of my account and are no longer "pending". Should I be concerned about that sequence of events and the long processing time on your end? I know it has not been 15 business days yet, but you guys usually get an order rolling pretty fast....Please advise.

Thanks

The original Gamma World back in 1982.

Thanks for the quick response. Just re-process the order and add it into my May order. No hurry, just wanted to make sure that I got #18.

Thanks again,

Mark

PS- You guys do great work!

I am wondering why:

Order # 1117228
Placed January 14, 2009

is still M.I.A.? It says pending in my history, but I have received several orders since January. Is it an out-of-stock problem or is there another issue?

I forgot to stick to the thread. My first Character lost was a 2nd level Fighter/Magic User killed in a bar fight when the bartender's vorpal sword went snicker-snack. That was back in the Monty Haul days of 1981. Those were the days!

From ASEO's post:

"I think Necromancer Games has a module out that provides 4 adventures to bring a dead character back to life."

Does anyone know the name of this? And if it is still in print?

Sounds like something I could definately use.
