Dargu keeps his eyes peeled, watching over the shoulders of the advance team.

Dargu keeps his javelin and shield up, moving around the pit and towards the 'tower' looking building (H4).

"I mean, why not? If they're here they know we're coming, and there's no sense hanging out at the entrance. Just watch out for more pits or other traps, eh?"

Dargu carefully approaches the pit and looks down, scanning the rest of the area as he does.

"They're cowardly little creatures, probably hiding in their warrens back in this wreck of a compound. Stay on guard."

Dargu approaches the opening in the wall, shield raised and javelin at the ready.

",Thanks, Dom. I suppose we should head out, then. This tain is gonna make our walk a bit slippery and not fun, but hopefully it'll keep those gobbos inside their caves too."

"As for what we did, well, little sis got whalloped but good by a monster with a changing face and lost her taste for adventuring I guess. Zyren went back to watch over her, and Flori must've talked her into staying back in town. So long as they're safe, that's what matters."

Dargu wipes his gladius off and sheathes it, then retrieves his javelin and longsword.

"Might as well just tip the corpses off into the trees. There are plenty of bugs and other scavengers that should strip them easily enough."

Dargu snarls as his longsword falls from his grip, then turns his attention towards the overgrown rodent before him again.

"Showing me up there, Akatsu! I'm supposed to be the big dumb fighter, eh?"

With heavy steps, he stalks to the east, drawing his Gladius and leveling a heavy stab at the foe once its flanked.

Stab!, Flank: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26 tonhit, for Piercing: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 damage

Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 = 24 tonhit, for Piercing: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 damage

"That one felt better! Maybe I should stick with the lighter blades."

Dargu draws his blade and steps past Akatsu, heedless of the creature's snapping jaws. As he comes around to the side, he strikes at the goblin dog with his longsword.

Attack!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 to hit, for Slashing: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 damage.

"Use the flank! Come around and slay them quickly!"

AC 24 vs AoO, stepping south to come to the "rear" of the closer goblin dog.

Dargu looses his held javelin at the closer of the creatures, preparing to grab another shaft or his sword as appropriate for the situation.

"Watch out for the little greenskins, too! No telling where they're gonna pop up, with all this swamp and plant stuff to hide in."

Sleep dep with a little one and some work distractions and the whole world changes.

C'est la vie.

I am happy to continue as Dargu, although seeing the others go is kinda a blow to the team.

Perhaps an Arcane type would be a good addition after we return to Sandpoint?

with Re: Discord, that's fine by me as well. with the time zone differences in the group it will make notification and such easier. Also, sharing images/files becomes a lot easier on that platform.

"Goblin dogs means goblins, right? I can't see anyone but that just means they're being extra sneaky. Try and funnel them into our blades if you can, keep from getting swarmed."

Dargu rises from his meal prep and draws both shield and javelin, looking out where he's been told the foes remain.

"Camp and foraging sounds like a good plan to me. We have a decent amount of supplies already, but a decent success on hunting or gathering would stretch them nicely. "

"What is it? Something or someone laying an ambush?"

Dargu draws a javelin slowly as he whispers to Flori.

seems about right, hang out around the house and help out a bit, then trek down and camp out at the next intersection.

Dargu returns to the household and nods to Walthus.

"Looks like the monster fled deeper into the swamp to lick its wounds. I didn't see any sign of your pet snakes, but Radjiik heard some movement in the walled off garden area. I'd guess they're still inside hiding like snakes do."

Replacing his javelin in its sheath, he busses himself setting things aright and sort of tidying up a bit.

"Dom is the craftsman, but I'm more than happy to help out around the place. I'm Dargu, by the way, I'm Koyas boy."

Dargu looks at the wall and his stomach-sick compatriot.

"You all right? Did that flesh-guy from inside give you bad food to eat?"

After retrieving his javelin and Radjiik saying something about snakes, Dargu examines the garden wall a bit closer.

"I mean, we can go looking for snakes, I guess. I'm not super thrilled around them, though, but I guess we can help out Walthus with his serpents if he needs it."

Dargu looks a bit less than thrilled to play herpetologist in the swamp, but tries to hide it as best he can.

Dargu gladly carries the furniture over where directed, then removes his heavier gear and sets it by the entrance way, out of the path of everyone.

"Sis, eat up, and get some strength back. I'll do a quick scan around the outside and make sure that creature isn't setting up an ambush or anything. Walthus, would you like some assistance cleaning up around here? I can lift and carry and sweep like you wouldn't believe, Mom always made sure I did my share of chores around the house."

"Oof, sorry about all that, Mister Walthus. If we'd known that thing was pretending to be you we could've grabbed it and smashed it down quick and hard. Do you need anything? We can help out for a bit before we go chase down some goblins."

"Of course I missed! Never could get the hang of good ranged fighting. Let's not go sprinting into the seamp after a monster like that. Dom, hows Flori? Anyone else get hurt?"

Dargu notes where his javelin fell, then stoops down to retrieve his longsword.

"What in the name of Desna was that thing?"

Dargu drops his blade with a curse, seeing the keen edge do much less damage than he expected.

"Blasted monster hide and tarnation! Have a javelin, you coward!"

Dargu draws a shaft over his shoulder and releases it in a smooth motion at the fleeing creature.

Javelin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 to hit (+1 if inspire still going], for Piercing: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 damage (+1?)

"Some hospitality, eh? Fine then, taste steel!"

Dargu draws his long blade and slashes at the creature who smashed his little sister so nastily.

"Flori! Stay awake, don't give up!"

Dargu looks sheepish as he offers to help, but is sincere.

"For one thing sis, it won't be in the middle of a swamp! I mean, no offense to Waltus or anything, but I kind of prefer more dry land and less blood sucking bugs kicking around. Maybe he's glputting on pants, or something? I mean, who knows what kind of schedule one keeps out here, right?"

Dargu approaches the door with Zyren, just in case of something bad popping up.

"Well, nobody came out to day hello, but noone came out to attack, either. Just the one door, and some kind of walled off yard or garden or something nearby. I heard some movement inside, but I couldn't make out anything particular. Shall I go say hi?"

Dargu describes the house best he can, then directs the team towards the entrance.

"Fo we just go knock on his door. I'm scared to bang too hard the thing looks like it'll cave right in on itself. Anyone feeling talkative and diplomatic this morning?"

Dargu seems all too happy for having slogged through a swamp for hours. The prospect of being in the field with his friends and family, and of encountering honest to goodness combat soon made him grin like a young child, despite the gloomy surroundings.

"I couldn't tell you what was growling, but I saw something up in the tree canopy. Gods only know what it was, it moved quick and was out of sight in a flash."

Stoic to the bugs for now, Dargu looks into the murky swamp and the wooden bridge.

"Id guess this is the path we are looking for "

Good by me.

Unless otherwise specified, Dargu will travel with his shield at the ready and his sword hand empty. If we're under no-light situation, he will likely carry his torch in his weapon hand, but otherwise will keep it free to chuck javelins or draw a blade/club as the situation dictates.

Dargu watches Radjiik look for tracks and directs his attention to finding a relatively defensible camp area.

"This spot over here should give us a good lookout, plus with the marsh and scrub oaks to our back it will help with the wind. If we are gonna stay here and push in the morning, I'd say this is where we should set up."

Dargu finds some fallen branches and sticks, beginning to lay in firewood for the night.

Dargu bows his head as Dominic prays, intoning the traditional response to the priest after he finishes.

"Moving faster will be good. My armor slows me down enough that most folks can get away from me."

Dargu tucks the ointment into a pouch and nods to the fishermen.

My plan was to head out now, scout the edge of the marsh, and probably camp tonight.

"We could do that, or we set out now and head to the marsh edge, then camp for the night. If we're lucky, the goblins come to us and we can snag one. If not, we're right there at first light and can maximize.our daylight in the marsh itself. Just a thought, though, I'm game for either way."

"Sounds like a classic ambush, though how the gobbos got their hands on those fireworks is a problem. Any chance those sacks or gear have a very distinct smell? Maybe we can borrow or rent a tracking dog to help find the little monsters."

Dargu pats the man on his shoulder and smiles at him.

"If we can get your stuff back, we will, don't worry Marten."

"Okay. Good stuff, everyone. If its too heavy to carry easily, I can haul some stuff around. My armor is gonna slow me down in a sprint anyways, so a few more pounds here and there ain't gonna make a difference. Everyone got some kind of ranged weapon? If nothing else, grab a sling and I will stop and pick up some bullets. Nothing worse than someone sitting back behind some cover and you don't got anything to shoot back with."

Standing outside the Inn wearing his armor and strapped with blades and javelins, Dargu waves to the others as they exit.

"So, where to first? Do we need to provision? I've got a few days worth of travel food packed up, and some coin if we need more. How about torches, oil, lamps and the like? Gobbos see in the dark, so they might be hiding in some cave or tunnel or something like that."

"Goblins again, eh? Sheriff, I'm down to help out however I can, especially if it means coin in my pocket and fewer stupid gobbos kicking around town. Sis, Zyren, the rest of you, how do you feel about earning some pay? I figure our little crew here should be able to handle them proper like. "

Dargu finishes off his meal like a professional guardsmen, shoveling it in and downing his beverage on top. He stands and heads upstairs to grab his stuff.

"Im gonna go get ready. See ya outside in like 5."

Yeah, I figure this is just a starting point for him.

That, plus it gives us a plot point to enjoin at least 4 of us in a shared activity.

And it's not like 70 some odd gp are gonna let him make a house liveable.

"Maybe you heard me earlier, but you've been in bed twice as long as me. I notice one of the mares was a bit wonky on the hoof yesterday, so I checked her shoes early this morning after mucking the stalls. Sure enough, I had to run to grumpy old Das Korvut and ask about some horseshoes. I just now feel clean enough to enjoy my coffee."

Dargu seems clean and put together enough, for a rough and tumble sort of fellow at least. He sits leaning back on his chair, a plate of the salmon finished in front of him and his third steaming mug of coffee in hand.

"Whats on the agenda today? Anyone planning on getting in trouble? Maybe wanna take a look at some lots with me?"

Fighter, ranger, monk, cleric, bard, rogue.

I think we'll have a blast with this group.

As for story links, Dargu is in town for the time being because he is looking to get his own place built. He's got some coin saved up and has a good gear set so he's looking to invest in real estate, as it is.

Obviously, he's been hanging out with Flori and Radijik, shooting the breeze and helping with the horses and such. He's also been doing some odd jobs around the Inn, carrying kegs, helping to break up barfights, and the like.
