This was my first con and I went solo so some of these comments may be met with, take care of it yourself.

1. There should be some kind of newbie official gathering IMO. BGG Con does this and goes out of there way to make sure first timers feel comfortable.

2. For pretty much every game I had to enter a room and hunt for my session. Some kind of table sign with the game name or even the GM's actively asking people who are obviously looking around if they could help would make it easier.

3. For one session the runner didn't show up. 6 of us waited 30 minutes before someone went to registration and learned the person set up in the wrong room. A simple mistake but you would think the person seeing all 6 people not in attendance after 30 minutes would of took some initiative on their own.

Having said that, I had a great time. People were friendly and I didn't feel uncomfortable. I just felt out of the loop in several instances.

This was my first event as well and I went solo. I had a great time from my first event run by Patrick to staying up well into the AM of Saturday / Sunday playing PACG with the Paizo folks. If it wasn't for Tanis playing that 2 player epic win, I would of missed out on our 6 player shenanigans later.

I spent way too much drunk time in the bar with my Aussie friend. I'm embarrassed to say I've forgotten his name but I was drunk every night. I had a good laugh when speaking to my Wyoming reps today about my lack of US Geography if you're out there.

Time to now rest up for Gen Con.

Thanks so much for the info, especially about the lottery. I'm sure that will get posted the week I am on vacation :)

Hoping to play some PACG while out there as well. Mainly just want to have fun and meet some good people and play games.

Going solo is always tricky but it worked at BGg Con last year so we'll see.

So on a whim I decided to attend this years con and I'm arriving a few days early because I want to check out the Seattle area. Oh and I'm coming out solo as well, will try to meet up with a few friends I know in the area.

I assume I will need to rent a car to get to the city or any other sight seeing type places.

I'm looking for advice on what to expect from the Con and how it works etc. When I went to BGG Con last year for the first time I missed a lot of things simply because I was not aware of them.

I'm also looking for advice on the area, what to see etc.

Thanks in advance for any input.
