Pathfinder is a huge game, so many rules and so many classes. I'm still screwing things up (obviously, scrolls and alchemists anyone?) with classes I've played frequently! It wouldn't be pretty if I ever get around to playing rangers, bards and paladins. Not to mention the zillions of other splat classes.

The quick reference guide has that info, also in the phb. They do make players pay for 'materials: inks, etc' to scribe new spells into their books. The ones you get for free from level ups have no costs. If you want to avoid fees then go for the magic item: Blessed book. Free! Blessed Book

The walk back is a slow affair, Dale is constantly being reminded to pick up the pace. "But check out those clouds over there! And this half dead sapling! And oh, that pile of scat.. hrm, looks like rabbit fur in it..." He picks up a couple pieces, sniffing them and breaking them up for a better look. "Oh neat, a tooth!" --- Back at the inn Dale's pretty distracted with taking exact notes on some of Soddy's discoveries and alchemical enhancements "Super sticky spit? Sounds like a heavy dose of paste is required... YUM!" At this point he's very much distracted from whatever the mission was.

Dale is fine to let Soddy copy formulae, but she'll need to endure nonstop questions about all things leshy and maybe even submit to some light experimentation work... Dale doesn't know the following of Soddy's formulae and would love to add them to his book. I like seeing how things would have changed, etc, in a scenario. I feel bad when players miss out on lots of things in a game, like all the wonderful backstory that's usually written in.

Dale grins at the woman "Best tarts I've ever had! Don't blame her, I've never been good with setting boundaries." He shrugs sheepishly. "Thanks for your hospitality, have a good day." Dale hustles outside and waits for the others, hoping to delay things long enough to give Emilio ample time to sneak outside before she shuts the door. "So, gardener, gardener..." He walks towards the corner of the manor to look for the cottage. While Dale would totally play this string out, its probably best we gather our mounts and meander off into the forest or something.

I can use my boon gifted scroll of invisibility to either get Emilio out of here easily, or I can cast it on Tabar if he'd like to go to the library for the notes. If he doesn't want to go I can go myself, invisible, but of course this means we'd have to get Emilio out another way. Votes? Save the invis for Emilio or use it to get the notes?

Dale watches Tabar work the lock and you can just tell he's beside himself with curiosity. "Ok, you got me, what the heck is in there... some fine chocolates? The stash of organic vanilla beans? Or maybe its a PIE SAFE!" He blurts out a bit at the end, sticking his own pick in to help buy Tabar some more time. Auto Aid. With heroism Dale actually has +15! Dale moves to block Tabar from fiddling with the locked drawer "No sense in getting into extra trouble with a house full of guards and the like..." Dale gestures to the rooms with sleeping guards and the other rooms on the other side of the house. As much as I'd love to search over things to satisfy my own curiosity, we're really only here to get him out of here with the documents. I can't imagine anything truly important towards a secondary success condition being in the kitchen drawer. Its a risk we shouldn't take. As far as invisibility Dale is happy to use the scroll on him once he agrees to carry the intel and deliver it. It will be easier for us to get out without him.

Dale munches on another stray tart with Sammi-Sue, wondering just what is taking the others so long. "I'm not sure everyone realizes just how important time can be in a situation like this..." Ironically he reaches for yet another cup of tea and a pair of jam slathered biscuits, thoroughly distracted by the snacks. A bottomless pit is an accurate description of Dale's appetite. Bluff roll for when appropriate: Dale cannot fail an aid roll on bluff or disguise with +9, which he'll use to bolster Sammi-Sue's ruse, whatever that may be.

Dale cringes at the commotion, looking back at the doors with the sounds of sleeping, then quickly backtracking towards the pantry door and looking down. The air is poison? He takes a short breath, almost like rolling the air around his mouth and lungs like tasting a wine. "I'm not sure I agree with that statement, but maybe he's talking about the air down there. In any case, probably would be a good idea to get him up here. I can make him invisible to help get him out." Looks like Tabar, Elbe, and Seldiir have the rescue well in hand, not to mention the confines are small and one way. Dale will stay in the kitchen for now unless needed.

Dale stuffs a tart into his mouth and grabs a handful of cheese destined for his pocket, mumbling something about a trip wire on the cabinet. Dale avoids the traps for now, and instead looks around for some silverware, particularly some butter knives. Once he finds something suitable he creeps over to the guard's rooms and tries to quietly wedge them closed with the knives (assuming they open out into the kitchen). Ok Dale will forgo mixing up an invis extract unless the group gave him 1 minute to do so. While he's not a great sneaker, Dale can mosey along quietly when he tries, and stops talking. Well dang! To be honest I'm not sure if I've ever actually had to use a scroll on an alchemist, other than to just copy into my formula book. Dale has plenty of INT and a very good UMD so he likely will be fine.

That sounds good. I was mistakenly thinking I could claim the items in our last town but yes, I'd have needed to get them sooner, and certainly before I knew we'd be sneaking around. (If I was thinking that I'd have prepared an extract of invis! I do have 1 open slot but not sure if we can get a minute of privacy to drag out the gear to mix it up.) How about we go with a scroll of invis and a scroll of haste. Those are pretty good in all instances and we'll have a haste if we need it. I would have to UMD a scroll that isn't on my spell list. Both of those spells are alchemist spells/formulas.

Ok, just to recap/plan out what we're doing here: Mission Objectives:
*Snaffu: Emilio is captive at the estate somewhere and we gotta find and free him/her. I would suspect that freeing them would earn us plenty of good will in convincing him we're allies of Torch and to deliver the documents. - Plan of attack: Sammi Sue has gotten us the layout of the first floor of the manor. None of which are obviously holding Emilio. We do have the unexplored room to the east, and also there is the chance that Irel's bedroom or library hold something important to be discovered. How exactly are we going to get to those places undiscovered by servants/guards? **GM: I mentioned earlier about my faction reward of 600g of 3 consumables for the mission, and wish I hadn't forgotten about it. Is it possible to still get a potion of invisibility (300g) and 2 scrolls of it (150g each). If not I understand.

Dale smiles and nods as Sammi-Sue trots off on a tour "Someday when you're older you won't think of plants and dirt as boring talk young lady." Until that day continue being a princess. Once the group is left alone Dale quickly takes out two bottles: one a specifically brewed concoction from this morning, and the other a grimy steel flask kept in his inner jacket pocket. He slurps down the first brew then follows that up with a mouth washing and back spitting into the steel flask. He stows the bottles and smacks his lips. "Don't know why I didn't do that earlier!" Alchemical Allocation: Heroism: 50mins He follows that up with yet another drink, this one foul tasting, at least according to the look on his face. You swear once he drinks it his head grows a hat size and his hair another inch longer! Not to mention his arms get more spindly. INT Cognatogen: +4 INT, -2 STR, +2 Natural Armor for 60 minutes One final bottle is gulped down "Just in case things get.. physical." He nods. False Life: 6hrs: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Once that's done Dale lets his curiosity set in, looking around the room thoroughly and outside any windows. "Wonder how long Sue will be gone?" He says out loud as he closely examines some shiny flecks in the marble stone floor as well as the walls. "Harold, what's your take on the workmanship here? Any idea where these were quarried?" He remarks to the guards on the way past, giving the sick one an extra look over as he does. Ahh, The ceiling fresco here depicts the Prophet Kalistrade offering his teachings to new followers. How pleasant. Knowledge vs Prophet Kalistrade: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21 "Mr Smith!" Dale smiles in greeting to the devilish woman. "We're purveyors of high quality horticultural marvels from across the land. Dale will buy a disguise kit on the way out of town if that's ok, then work on disguises for whoever would like something! Dale kneels down on one knee in the long grass, overlooking the manor, pointing out the local flora and fauna as he moves around the grounds. "Ahh, based on the shapes I'd say those trees are some sort of hybrid hawthorne. The natives don't usually get that tall in the middle, they tend to be more rounded." He describes, his hands helping him convey the message as the tricorner pirate hat on his head bobs up and down. Dale seems to be pretty particular about the hat, even though it doesn't match his traveling saleman's regalia. As the group made the trip out, Dale dug up and bundled numerous interesting looking shrubs, saplings, flowers, and even a few tubers. Wrapping them in bits of cloth he scavenged behind the local Goodwill.
"Mind if we strap some of these exotic samples to your hippogriff Seldiir? Gotta sell something... hopefully a fine Clematis vine in a pot?" He looks expectantly at Daisy if she's interested in the ruse. How does a troop of traveling salesmen and his body guards and porters sound? Daisy in vine shape would be amazing! If that doesn't work then we can always go through the maze. Dale SHOULD be very good at working through a maze, especially with the help of some defoliant...

Dale has +7 to disguise, an additional +2 once he gets his hands on a disguise kit. I'll put up an appropriate post later today when I have more time on my hands. I would love our group to have some sort of disguise theme. Yes maybe we're basically a group of toughs and mercenaries, but we should have our own bit of 'flair' right? Dale is pretty odd and eccentric so he'll be doing this no matter what. Figured I'd just bring it up as a fun idea to be pondered.

Loved that ending. Thanks GM. Fighting a T Rex skeleton would have really been up Dale's alley. He dealt with T Rex in some of his Mwangii Jungle adventures! A question or two before you go. Did we find something to satisfy this faction goal? Recover a named text (typically listed in italics or quotes) found during the course of an adventure. Dale will spend 90g to copy the scroll of gaseous form into his formula book. He can make the check easily taking 10.

Dale normally does have his wayfinder hanging around his neck but due to that letter he'll have it tucked into a pocket. A very hairy, disheveled looking man is being practically dragged into the inn by a neat and tidy Dwarf. The Dwarf half pleads and half tugs on the man's shirt sleeve "DALE WE ARE LATE! Why must you insist on making me late? Its embarrassing!" "Late? Are you sure Harold? I'm pretty sure the time was just a round about suggestion, not a definitive declaration..." He bends over to snag one last bloom off the bush before following the Dwarf, and soon his nose, into the establishment. "Well, it does smell like lunch time maybe? Or was it dinner time... when did we eat last?" He sniffs the pink flower with green variegation before peering closer with a hand lens "Not a unique variety, but certainly not the most common either." He slaps it between some pages of a stuffed notebook and struts into the room to find a table. No sooner though does he sit down that Harold the Dwarf elbows him and points out the mismatched group up at the bar. "Not sure about you, but I've never seen a talking Daisy before..." Harold whispers. Dale looks up from the menu and grins. "A vine leshy! And another rat folk!" No worries on me with up or down, but to be fair, Dale is mostly a ranged/skill support character. He isn't a front liner, nor a big damage dealer, if that affects the up/down decision. As far as start date, looks like Dale will have a chronicle by the weekend but likely will be 'done' in a couple days. I'll join you on the road if you are there by then!

Dale fidgets a bit with his wispy beard as the others seem to turn more towards destruction of the canister. Unfortunately, his study of the portal and how to close it is fruitless. "I... I don't know how to close this portal.. other than destroying the canister." Dale drags out the papers they found earlier, scanning through them more just in case he's missed something important. Can we even damage something made of mithril? I'm not sure I can hit it with a bomb powerful enough to do much. Fire/cold would be halved at the minimum right? I wish I had one of the boons that lets you know how an action affects our mission success! All my other characters have it but Dale!
