I'd hate to have to get a replacement GM, but I'm also a fan of this game and would really like to see it continue. Worst-case scenario, I could always take over if that's what you guys want.

1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points Thanks! Thanksgiving was great. I think the first thing we should try to do is track down/retrace the steps of Aiden Kael. Maybe if we ask around, someone knows where he was staying or something like that, which might give us some clues as to where we should not search, at least. Or it might be a dead end. But the only other way I can think of we might be able to find the ancient Daemon temple is to search the wilds personally, which sounds tedious at best.

1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points Yep- I do indeed have a singular pouch (a decision that Daidalos will surely reconsider after tonight) that contains all spellcasting materials. That said, it sent me on a Google flurry looking for the rules on casting using souls as components. So far as I can tell, I can use a single soul to count as a single spell's material components up to the value of the soul, but using it for a 0-cost material component essentially wastes the entire soul's value. Daidalos has four souls at the moment (the triton that ambushed us, Captain Kargeld, Captain Varning, and Lord Havelyn), incorporated as jewels into his outfit, so could cast that many spells, but would obviously hate to do so. Hopefully this doesn't devolve into combat, though, so it should be fine. Just notes of interest for the future. Daidalos fights back a smile, "Not bad at all. Well spotted." he says, unclipping his pouch from the back of his belt and tossing it to the guard.

Daidalos nods, in response to Tiadora's instructions, "Very well. We'll meet you there. Enjoy yourself, Grumble. We'll get you when we need you." After saying farewell, and taking slight offense at the idea he needed a bath (like any self-respecting mage, he kept himself sparkling clean through liberal use of prestidigitation), but did enjoy the prospect of having a warm tub to relax in for a bit. Still, he went shopping for non-magical clothing, and found quite the tidy wizard outfit, that only required a couple minor modifications to make perfect on himself (using, of course, soul gems as jewelry- but with a minor use of illusions to disguise them). 1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points Reading back through Gameplay to update the loot spreadsheet, and I can confirm that yes, going back through the battle with the magister and commander is just as hilarious on reread as it was the first time. I have a brawler as one of my characters, and yet Daidalos, of all possibilities, has used more combat maneuvers, and gotten the most out of them, than all my other characters combined. And, of course, let's not forget the most important +/-1 in the history of the game. I have to fight back laughter just reading along. EDIT: Having updated the loot spreadsheet more-or-less fully (just need to figure out the value of our spoils), I noticed a few unidentified objects: a magical cloak in need of ID'ing, and Chalices and Military medals that need to be Appraised. So, first I'm going to appraise the objects, since they don't have any retries, then roll for spellcraft until I get a decently high roll, and see how that works out. 1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points Yeah, I figured. Anything to save some gold, after all. But I think the long-term power increase from going Diabolist early (and getting a whole array of minions) is worth the thousand-odd gold cost of the scroll. I just need to hope you don't roll a nat 17 on the will save. I'd go for Planar Ally if it would save me money, but even at a level lower it's still more expensive. He managed to keep himself fairly occupied, scribing a few scrolls for later use. Never had that happen before. ;P But yeah, to qualify for Diabolist, Daidalos "Must have conjured a devil using lesser planar ally or lesser planar binding (or a similar spell) and successfully coaxed the fiend into performing a task lasting longer than 1 day." Once we arrive wherever we're going, it's just a (fairly pricey) scroll, a DC 11 Caster Level check (AKA, I roll a 6 or better), and me either sucking up my pride and summoning a Lemure (+0 will save) or chancing that an imp (+4 will save) will fail a DC 17 save and I can convince it that it wants to serve me for a week or so. 1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points I think we might be better off with a "disagree to stop" method of deciding what to do- so, one person says the plan, and if one person agrees with them and nobody wants to do otherwise after, say, a day, then that's the plan going forward. Alternatively, for something like dungeon keeping, we could (as might well happen in-character) assign someone to upkeep, and they organize the defenses, etc. GM- I'm hoping for my next level to be Diabolist (in no small part thanks to our lack of a rogue), but I need a scroll of lesser planar binding to do so. Once we do level up, could I maybe 'delay' the level up until I get the chance to buy/find a scroll, so I can get the Imp and we can pick locks once again? He sends his regards. Don't worry, he's in excellent health. He saw the value of joining us. I don't suppose you want to as well? We can provide you with whatever you desire. Money, power," he grins, "We could even spare that lass you're so fond of. You didn't die before, why would you now? In any case, you may well be more use to us alive, at least for now. Affyria, do you want to heal him, so that he can at the very least see what is coming?" Daidalos asks casually, "Besides, this way he at least has time to consider his options."

1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points Daidalos steels himself as he surveys the scene, and draws himself up to respond to the captain, "You have fought well, I must commend you. As a result, I will promise that we shall reunite as many families as possible, and they will know peace. That is what your god promises, no? " he takes a deep breath as he prepares himself, "Trust me, they will be far better off not staying around for what is to come. Affyria, would you call the horde? You may watch, if you so choose, what is to come of your homeland." he tells the captain. Well-narrated. It was quite the read. Evil campaigns are weird in terms of morality, which I suppose it kind of the point.

1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points I think Daidalos would be best served staying out from the breach some- I don't think the siege engine would be a good idea when everyone is in the gatehouse. While I'd prefer to save the Wand, I could use a charge or two from it. That said, I can also prep Fireball myself and use Potent Magic to make it a 7d6 damage-dealer. I wouldn't have any castings of Fly, though. But I think Daidalos would probably Fireball the interior to Dis, Web up the survivors, Enlarge Timo, and use Magic Missile to finish off any survivors. I also have a few Glitterdusts and and Pyrotechnics SLA to top it all off. Long story short? If we're brute-forcing, I just got a ton of fancy new blast spells from that spellbook. The wand is probably redundant.

1/1 Pyrotechnics, 2/8 Arcane Reservoir, 3 'Hero' Points And here I was, thinking of a complicated way where I could turn our frontliners invisible and giving them flight, having them sneak in, then teleport (Dimensional Slide for the win!) and coming up with a way to force the door open.... Or we just take the door out of the equation. That works too. Also, Timo, I love that image. "Oh hey, what took you so long?"
