![]() Hello Everyone! This is Brent Holtsberry from Bad Moon Games. Along with being the Venture Captain for Sacramento, I've been wanting to publish my own work for quite some time, and have finally gotten around to creating my first adventure. :-) I've been at most of the developer panels at the last two Paizocons. Between that and Greg Vaughan's gaming table last year, I've had the pleasure of meeting many of the other writers and publishers here in person. I look forward to hearing feedback and recommendations from all of you, as I also look forward to participating in this awesome community. For your consideration: The Kobolds of Tzarker Mines
Ever wondered what it’s like from the kobold’s side of the game table? Here’s your chance to find out! The Kobolds of Tzarker Mines live a gloomy existance deep in the mountains mining treasure for a volcano dragon. When disaster strikes, can you save your tribe from a fiery doom? This 36-page Pathfinder Compatible adventure is designed for four level 1 kobold characters, and will bring them to level 3 if they survive to the end of their adventures. ![]()

![]() Last Saturday one of the local TV stations had a live interview with the convention owner of ConQuest Sacramento. He was so impressed with what we were doing in the PFS room, that he chose to showcase our room in the broadcast.

As the Venture-Captain for Sacramento, I'm excited to announce the California Central Valley's marquee convention: ConQuest Sacramento! There are several exciting new changes to ConQuest SAC this year including a new venue, and convention dates that aren't bunched up so closely to other springtime conventions. We are planning on having a MUCH larger turnout then previous years due to these changes, as well as the expanding PFS community here in Sacramento. Registration and hotel information can be found at:
Warhorn signups can be found at:
If you plan on taking advantage of free registration for GMing 3 or more slots, and it is before the cutoff date, DO NOT REGISTER FOR THE CONVENTION. Follow the directions given on the front page. To be clear, there will be a cutoff date for free GM registration, see the warhorn site for details. Our PFS leadership team, The ConQuest Chroniclers have several special things planned for PFS for this event. We plan on having signups available by the end of this week. This will be a convention to remember. :-) Don't miss out! ![]()

![]() I'm creating a white dragon, and am noticing that on P. 100 of the Bestiary the base stats for white dragons have the Speed listed as 60 ft. All of the white dragon examples have a speed of 30 ft. listed. I didn't find this in the Errata document. Is this an error? I'm going to assume it is and that their base speed is 30 ft. ![]()

![]() Hey All, I have recently made the switch to Pathfinder from 4e, and have a little bit of a dilemma. I had run the weekly two-hour Encounter games at one of the local games stores for over a year. The one thing that I realized fairly quickly was that it was good at bringing new players in. Every couple of months when a new 'season' would start up, I would ALWAYS get new people. And by new people I mean off the street and never played D&D before. It was a great tool for getting brand new people to get interested in rpgs. I want to help promote a healthy Pathfinder community and finding ways to have new players join is good for everyone. I'm trying to find something I can do with my, now open, Wednesday evenings that specifically targets getting new players into the game. One of the local Venture Lieutenants had some good suggestions saying that I should use the new Intro scenarios as well as We Be Goblins. I am shying away from using the Beginner's Box in this way, only because it ends up being a kind of bait-and-switch where the game changes on them when I move them into normal PFS play. I could always just come up with my own material designed to be run in 1-2 hour blocks. Does anyone have any other ideas/advice? Thanks for the help! Daerthon ![]()

![]() Hey Everyone, I am beginning to get games set up here in Sacramento, and would love to hear thoughts from organizers that get to work with GMs on a frequent basis on what works (and doesn't work) for building and maintaining a healthy GM pool. Does anyone have any top-secret advice on what works to keep their PFS scene from sputtering due to lack of GMs? (I guess it's okay to post stuff that's not top-secret as well.) :-) Thanks for the help! Brent Holtsberry (Daerthon) ![]()

![]() Hey Everyone, My name is Brent Holtsberry. I'm in Sacramento trying to get some PFS action going and would like some advice. Recently, Pathfinder Society play in Sacramento has mainly consisted of a few home games and the occasional Meetup game. I'd like to get more public games going, so I've been working with a couple of the stores in the area, and arranged to have a weekly PFS night at each of the stores and a Monthly PFS games day at one of them. There is a new local website to help facilitate communication for the PFS community here, and a Sacramento PFS group that has around 50 members which has been the primary means of communication for PFS play here the past few years. I've gotten the games set up, posted their availability to the yahoo group and website, have a warhorn website people can sign up for the games on, as well as posted them here on Paizo (of course). So now I'm looking for what to do next. There are all kinds of things I could try, to get people to show up for games, and I'm looking to see if organizers from other areas have advice on what worked (and what didn't work) to get people to actually sign up and show up. I don't necessarily expect tons of people to show up just out of the gate, but I'd hate to be in a position six months from now where the GMs still have to run a pre-gen themselves just to have most of the tables make. And of course the long-term goal is the get PFS to consistently grow here over the next few years. So any advice from you organizers out there? Thanks for your help! Brent (Daerthon) |
