Balmorra: "Agreed, so let's not bother to find out. In and out, fast as we can."
Daaneth hardly looks at the station, now that they're so close to the planet his focus is on his old Rodian friend, and making sure she gets off planet.
Lone Pulsar: "Tika, I assume. She said she was alone. With any luck, she hasn't been captured by the imps yet. Which means she probably has." He sighs as he answers Vessani while they wait on the asteroid for whatever the next leg of their journey was. The past five days had been nerve wracking, but he hadn't been willing to try and contact Tika until they were planet side, unless it exposed either her, or the crew he'd hired. "Drev Sarn..." he mutters. "I wonder why she never mentioned it before."
Drunken Dewback: Daaneth raises an eyebrow at Jeren, but only briefly, before extending his hand as a sign that he accepts the agreement.
"1000 it is, how do we get to the ship, what's she called?"
Yeah, same question as Vessani. I also keep my sheet on mythweavers, so as of June 2016 I had about 2.3k credits.
Drunken Dewback: "Rush? Yeah, you could say we're in a bit of a rush. Pretty interested on laying low too, so I guess that means we get your most expensive rate." Daaneth shrugs.
"Of course, you're being hired by an expert pilot and some experienced muscle, which means your ship might actually be safer just for having us on board. You let me pilot the thing, and you could even absolve yourself of any, um wrong doing as might be perceived by the empire, you know, in the unlikely event we get caught. That's got to be worth a little discount, right?"
Drunk Dewback: Daaneth thanks the bartender for his information and leaves a small tip on the bar before heading to the table with the Devaronian and Human at is. He smiles as he approaches and pulls a seat up to their table.
"Hear you might be willing to hire yourselves out for a trip to Balmorra. What's the going rate?"
"What do you have against Dewbacks Jeren?" Daaneth flashes a smile at his friends as they head toward the catina. "Besides the classy ones just have expensive pilots, we're not looking for class." Once they reach their destination Daaneth tries once again to find a pilot willing to fly them out to Teeka.
"Alright, so we're splitting up. This should be interesting. Why don't we see about hiring a ship out to get to Balmorra, I should be able to negotiate a decent price, if not we can always go by bulk transport. In anyway, we should get moving so we don't delay the delivery too."
"An even split makes sense." Daaneth agrees. "Plus, we'll have Teeka with us, so we'll have another steady arm if we end up in some sort of fight." Daaneth is heartened by the offers to help. "Now we just need to figure out how we're getting there. Jarl you take the Dwarf. It wouldn't be good for our image is we have to shuffle cargo between ships."
"I can't leave Teeka on Balmorra, but, splicing those cells sounds risky if it damages the ship. I don't want to put our reputation at risk either." Daaneth rubs his chin in frustration. "I'm seriously contemplating finding my own way there so you guys can deliver the goods." He signs, unsure of what to do. "Any opinions? What would you do, f your oldest friend was stranded and in need of help?"
"Got to admit, I agree with Jace on that. Might as well just expect Imps everywhere we go." He helps finish loading the crates and considers his information. "Not2be, what's the distance between Taris and Balmorra?" He's torn between making good on his delivery and rescuing Teeka from her predicament. Could he sacrifice his oldest friend for some creds and truffles? No guarantee she'd be caught in that time, but no guarantee she wouldn't either. The stress starts to get to him the nearer they get to take off, unsure what their next course of action should be.
"I agree Jeren. Seems fishy to me. We certainly can't take on a Star Destroyer with the Dwarf." Daaneth frowns. "But one thing at a time. We load up the cargo first, if we're lucky, there's someone else the Imps are here to pick up. Once everything is loaded, we figure out what to do about the destroyer."
"GO ahead an read it Jarl, but not over comms, if it contains anything important, then let me know. We're already one our way with the goods so keep the Dwarf ready to go." Daaneth says. His curiosity is off the charts but he'd rather not distract himself further. Turning to Fiuryo'lan he nods his head. "Thank you for the hospitality. We'll get those truffle to Taris in no time, we've got a pretty good record so far." He flashes his pointy teeth in a broad smile. "Ordana Freen will be another satisfied customer." With that he starts heading out of the compound, and nods at Krasar and Tela signaling that he's ready to go when Jeren and Vessani are seated too.
"Nothing illegal?" Daaneth pouts a little bit and shakes his head. "Is this what I've become? Taking legitimate jobs?" He wondered what his old friends would say and shook his head again.
Daaneth normally doesn't mind a bit of a joke and nods appreciatively at the woman, but keeps his distance. Threatening people's lives, particularly those of smugglers doesn't usually end well, even if it is as joke, but he shrugs it off. How many new hires does Fialla go through? He wonders, not sure exactly how expendable his position is. "I'll take a drink, droid, surprise me. I'd like something with a strong flavor." "All this for truffles." He says out loud to his companions. "Even the black market can be mundane I suppose."
Daaneth looms around the room looking for a way out but gives up quickly, getting bored with the lack of detail in the room. He chuckles out loud as the female voice threatens them and flashes a smile at his teammates. "How about you let us in to do the job Fialla sent us for, and in exchange I promise not to broadcast the fact that trioxidolation gas doesn't exist?"
"Well, let's figure out if Fiury'olan deserves her non Barabel reputation, yeah?" The togruta smirks as he enters the building, but at least one hand hovers near his blaster.
"We mentioned her name when we arrived on planet. It got us pretty speedy accomodations. Is that normal around here?" The togruta tilts his head curiously, waiting for a response.
57% of the trade, sure but what's that actually worth? Daaneth thinks as he listens to Vessani carry the conversation. He figures he'll let the Zabrak work on casually retrieving information while he enjoys the ride. Occasionally he looks back at Jeren and raises an eyebrow, making sure the human isn't having any trouble.
Daaneth smiles at his odd human friend. "More than welcome Jeren." He turns back to the Barabel and shrugs. "So, that's settled, let's go. You heard the man, just don't drive too recklessly." He nods for those coming with him to follow, hoping he's not being too pushy and waves a goodbye to the rest of his crew mates.
"So, no volunteers then?" Daaneth says looking at the rest of the crew. "Vessani why don't you come with me? The rest of you are capable of amusing yourselves while we're gone, save a few drinks for me though." He tries his best to look amused, but his natural instinct is never to leave the pack, and he not sure how much he trusts this job. I'll just need to believe in Fialla I guess.
The Harvesting ground?" Daaneth looks over his crew and wonders who best to take. He doesn't much like the idea of splitting up. "I never travel without at least two of my men, you see, so this might present a problem. Unless of course you're flexible."
Daaneth eyes the Barabel warily but, being asked for by name brings a smirk to his face. Crossing his arms the Togruta steps forward and nods his head. "That would be me. What can I do for you?"
"Picking up. We're supposed to meet a woman named, Fiuryo'lan. If you know of her, a dock closest to her operation would be helpful." Daaneth says over the comms, sounding bored. Truffles. He thinks to himself, rolling his eyes.
"Fiuryo'lan. Got it, thanks Fi, we'll keep you updated." Danneth sends back and nods to Jarl to ship them out. "You wanna lock down the coordinates Not2bee? Look for the most optimal route you can, the faster we get this done the faster we get more work."
Daaneth shrugs and smiles at Stanwell even as the man turns down their assistance. When the group starts discussing the 'leap of faith' he laughs. "Looks like Jace and I finally agree on something. Trust is a mutual respect and he's done no more to earn our than we did his, but at least we gave him a chance build the bridge." "In any case, we might as well go pick up your shipment now, we aren't doing anything else."
Daaneth finds himself a bit distracted during the conversation but his head whips toward NT-2B when the droid comments on the information provided. He tilts his head toward the mechanical crew member and muses not for the first time about how much his opinion on droids has changed over such a short time and he lets out a laugh. "Yes, let's get it all out in the open. We're working a job for you, and if anything nasty happens it does increase our price or decreases the likely hood of your cargo arriving safely. Unless of course we agree to the 500 each while completely confident that our employer has provided all the details, because then the job will get done properly. Is there anything else you maybe forgot to add?"
Hey all, sorry for the radio silence. My younger brother got mugged this weekend, he's okay but kind of beat up and we ended up driving a few states over go help his wife with the kids and anything else that needed doing. We're headed home sometime tomorrow and I will be resuming posts when I return, sorry about the delay.
"Don't tell me you didn't have any fun Vessani!" Daaneth says with a smile. He slaps the zabrak good naturally on the back. He looks over Fialla to see how she's holding up and nods in agreement with Jarl. "Does seem a bit uptight in here. You're not expecting me in one of those uniforms are you?"
Daaneth frowns and begins sending messages to all of his old crew, hoping any of them may be willing to part with the coordinates. In the mean time he looks at Jarl and shrugs. "Might as well head back to Fialla in the mean time, yeah? Not like we have anywhere else to be." "Hope that gem is worth it's wait in creds Jeren, still don't understand why you wanted it so bad. You a collector?"
Daaneth raises and eyebrow at Vessani. "What? Drev Sarn is a port, not a person. Or did you mean my old crew? They're a bunch of criminals who've never been caught, I'd say they're pretty reliable."
Daaneth sends a message to Fialla, questioning if she has her next job prepared as the ship gets ready for launch. "Good, then we're all agreed we can get off this rock. If we want to work on the ship, before, or after out next job, I know of a shadowport that may be of use. Drev Sarn in the Acliphar system. Not2Bee, would you be able to track down the coordinates? I don't know them myself, but plenty of my old crew had stopped there in the past."
"I'm all for shopping for the ship, just not sure how much we want to do here with all this imperial presence." Daaneth shrugs and wonders if there's another planet close by that may be better to outfit their ship on.
Sounds good to me, thanks for doing the math! Is this our first deposit into the ship fund? I would search the thread but I'm on mobile and for some reason the search function always bugs out on my phone.
"No gems for me, I'll take credits." Daaneth says, admiring the amethyst Jeren picked as payment. He muses on how he still knows very little about the strange human, but shrugs it off for now. "Assuming he's the only one to take a stone, how many creds does that leave?"
Daaneth shrugs. "Everything has a price." Then he pays the 130 credits for the refueling, docking for the day and the maintenance. "If we're here longer than a day I'll pay up, but I doubt our business will take very long." He smiles at the guards and nods to the rest of the crew that it's time to head out. "Lets get paid."
Just a reminder, I'll be on vacation starting tomorrow until the 8th (EST). I mightp be able to post but will more than likely be saving battery energy for any potential emergencies.
"Welcome party is here!" Daaneth smiles as he lowers the ramp for the customs officer and walks down to greet them. "How are you gentlemen today? Want a tour? No one knows this ship like I do. Been planetside long?" Daaneth keeps up a dialogue as long as the officer is willing to let him, hoping to distract them enough from doing a thorough job, trying to looks as trustworthy as he possibly can in the process.
Question: The rifle is illegal to have on the surface of the planet, I get that, but is it also illegal just to have on board? If it is I'm all for hiding it, but I thought the stipulation was that we just couldn't carry it off the Dwarf.
"Looks like I'm leaving my new toy on the ship then. It's not like I've never had to shoot my way out of a situation with nothing but a pistol anyway." Daaneth shrugs but signals everyone to get ready to move off the ship. He sends a message to Vin Dai Soo hoping to get a response before they leave for the shop.
I am also fine with a slower pace game. I have a number of games with more demanding post rates and it's nice to have one that isn't always breathing down my neck. That said, apologies if this last post was waiting on me, I'd thought I responded to it already.
"Just here to conclude business on the surface. Your records should show we were here just a few days ago without incident." Daaneth tries to sound as relaxed and charming as possible, hoping there won't be any more questioning, that always meant trouble.
After switching the comms off he turns to whatever assembled crew there is and smiles. "Looks like we might find ourselves some more trouble while we'really here but I'm not about to let our payment get away. Keep on your toes."
"Alright, Not2Bee, can you plot us a course back to Vin Dai Soo's Luxury Outfitters? We can grab our payment, and if we're lucky maybe upgrade the ship while we wait to hear from the boss on the next job." Daaneth smiles back at Fialla. "Looking forward to what you throw at us. Make sure it's something fun. Maybe with less kidnapping."
Daaneth laughs as he picks up Fialla's muttering. "I'm glad you see my point." "Alright, so I'll let you handle the yacht, while we look for some Judgement information. We also need to go back and get Jeren's cut of our last job, like Jarl said." He ticks things off on his fingers while he tries to figure out if he might have already heard of Judgement.
I don't believe him, so I'm full of myself? Daaneth shrugs again and turns back to Fialla, not wanting to escalate things with Jace. "Like I said, one way or the other, it's information we can't let out because all of us enjoy being alive. So I don't know what you want to do about it, but I do know we've got a yacht that we need to get off our hands as soon as possible. Where are we flying it to?"
Daaneth rolls his eyes. "I thought Jedi were in control of their emotions? You get uppity every time I suggest I don't believe you." "The Togruta had plenty of force users in our history, not all of them were Jedi. Just because you have a lightsaber and can throw some things around doesn't make you a Jedi."
"He claims to be one anyway, which is just as dangerous as far as I'm concerned so lets keep that bit of info to ourselves. We dont need the Empire on us." Daaneth shrugs. "But if we don't need to do anything special to destroy these things then it's not really a big deal, let's focus on what we're doing next. Got any plans boss?" |
