Never been a player in a TPK, but did one as the DM once.

My high school group wanted to play Return to the Keep on the Borderlands in 3.5. Unfortunately for them, one of the players had a knack for remembering modules (he once gave another GM turn-for-turn guidance on how to get out of the Temple of Elemental Evil from the third level down, without a map), and he remembered the original module. So the players followed his lead when he stat he wanted to go to a specific cavern on ttheir first foray (all still 1st level).

So, a 40' climb was made, ropes were thrown down and into the caveern they went. Instead of goblins, or whatever they expected, they saw a sleeping troll (see, I was nice, giving them an out). That's when the Chaotic-Stupid Elf of the party decided to shoot the troll with an arrow. Things went downhill from there and ended with the cleric, carrying the unconcious rogue on his shoulder, lost his grip on the rope 30' up.

I actually did not feel pity for them that day.

Never mind, a simple search provided the answer... http://paizo.com/forums/dmtz4gv2?Multiple-Magic-Missiles-and-Toppling-Spell #3

I believe I am correct by thinking that each individual targeted by a Magic Missile (Toppling) will be affected by a trip attack, but my question is, if a person is hit by multiple missiles from the same spell, is he affected by multiple trip attacks. There is no clear ruling, but I can see the logic of it working either way.

Just trying to get clarification before this comes up in game.

Thanks for any opinions in advance.

When our GM ran his evil campaign, the one thing I was focused on (and most players in an evil campaign would be as well I would think) was developing a power base for future use. Sooner or later, some goodie-two-shoes group is going to come along and try to teach you the error of your ways, and having a power base lined up in advance helps thwart the do-gooders. Alliances with the party members will go a long way towards developing that power base, whether for a party or an individual, and having a tribe owe a favor could be of great use to the party at a later stage in the campaign. Or you could give the players a token from the tribe that insures safe passage and aid if needed. Another idea is to give the players a reference to something greater, such as a map or a journal that references some source of power, sending them on to bigger and better things.

Just my 1/4 cent.

I am one of the other players in this game and should add something to this. The problem as I saw it last night is that the effect was not a spell, it was a mechanical trap, and according to the way the GM described the trap is that there were two effects; one in which you had to make a Saving Throw or be stunned and a second that was damage that degraded over range. Whether you made the save or not, you took full damage from the mechanical device according to how far away from the device you were.

Now, to me the question is, If Ryan made his save (he did), would he take the damage from the effect, or would his Stalwart ability cause negate the damage as well as the stun effect?

To be honest, I agree with the GM that he would have taken the damage, but at the same time, I am hoping that you guys disagree because we could really use the help in this adventure (down to two party members from the original four... Ryan's Inquisitor and my Wizard) and are fighting a Slaad incursion!

Well, my group just started the search for Vanthus (Part 4 - Peril Under Parrot Island of There Is No Honor). The search started in the Azure District at The Sasserine Sleigh Ride (a tavern/brothel). There, the bartender explained who Brissa was and her past. Somehow, the fact that Brissa was known in this tavern, the groups fighter, Gurney, decided that she had a connecion with the Courtesans Guild (located in the Noble District). He made his way there, and being barred entry, came up with a story that he was in the employ of a Dr. Matthis, and that a patient by the name of Vanthus Vanderboren died recently due to a deadly form of STD, and the prostitute that gave it to him was needed.

This became a rumor that has shocked the Noble District, and everyone there now believes that he is dead, and the Vanderboren name has a black mark against it.

This is fun (typed as the group is trrying to figure out where to go next).
