Hello! This is just to talk about whatever you want. Maybe you have some questions, or just want to talk about what happened and any reactions you have. In the meantime I'll go over some posting etiquette. I'm not quite sure how often we can all post. I'll try for once per day, but I suppose we'll see how that works out and if it raises or lowers. For example, on the weekends I might be able to do more. We'll talk one on one. General text is just description. So we are all consistent, we can just do third person singular, and present tense. So if my character is Thog, I would write, "Thog walks up to the treasure chest," Bold text indicates dialogue. I shall smite thee heathen! You can use italics for emphasis or internal dialogue. That hurt! You can just use spoilers to save space, or put something that not everyone needs to see. Players Only!!!:
Good job! You can use the dice for your actions. To make things easier I will roll your initiative, perception, sense motive, and saving throw checks. Also anything else you aren't supposed to know the result of like Disguise. You roll anything else for your character.
Let's go over what to type. There are special commands in "How to format your text," and they denote specific things. "ooc" denotes Out Of Character. Pretty simple, instead of what your character is saying, it's the player talking. For example, "Guys I'll be out of town so I can't check up on the game," Bold indicates dialogue. For example, "I shall smite you heathen!" Italics are used for emphasis, and I see it used for internal dialogue. For example, "Ah, he hit harder than I thought. Time to try a new angle... Click Here:
Spoilers are used to show information to either save space, or specifically denote who it's for. Say you have a bunch of damage bonuses. Put it in a spoiler to save space and avoid walls of text. Dice are kind've weird but pretty handy. Just say what the roll is for, the die you're rolling, and then your bonus. Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21 You can also make things bigger or smaller for a special kind of emphasis. Please leave me... alone... vs. AM BARBARIAN!!! Ordinary text is normally just a narrative. For example, "He moves three squares left and readies a vital strike," Good luck.
Just a reminder that while this is mostly for me to practice the online format, it's still good for you two to practice roleplaying during combat. I might say, and his leg shattered from the bolt, which the victim might scream whatever is appropriate for their back story and personality. Tactics also have roleplaying. You can hang back defensively, or go full out beast. Whatever fits you the best.
Here you can talk a bit. I wouldn't post build ideas here, but if you want me to change the backstory and background of the "campaign" in order to fit you guys better that's fine. I'm just trying to learn all the tricks for online RPG's here. You can also taunt each other before the duel... ;) I'm looking into ways to make maps, I believe Google Slides was one good one, so maybe after the duel you guys could rematch so I can test out a digital map. Any other people watching may decide who they think will win. Not really any basis to go on, so team HW (HappyWalrus) or team AE (AwesomelyEpic).
First I just want to make it clear, I'm learning the mechanics of online roleplaying so I'm trying out Paizo's forums. I've asked two of my friends already to participate so alas, no other PC's will be let in. :( Sorry. Maybe when I learn more about the format I can do public campaigns. You are free to watch though if you want. I am expecting to see HappyWalrus and AwesomelyEpic, I PM'd you guys.So don't post your builds here, I'm just assuming I have to start a thread in order to start an online campaign. If any of you guys just feel like giving pointers it is much appreciated, but I think I'll figure out everything through experimentation. Thanks and Sincerely,
