*hugs* Thanks guys.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

So, I suck. I've decided that I just have absolutely no interest in gaming anymore. I tried like hell to renew my interest in the games, but it just isn't there. It's become a chore for me, and I'm sure a slow, torturous death for all of you.

So, I'm backing out. Dragonblood472 has offered to take over, if you all agree. He'd scale back Silian to a npc. So, I leave it to all of you to discuss.

I'm sorry guys.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Jess glances over at the disgruntled Mrogab and presses a finger to her lips. Taking Akasha by the hand she tiptoes out of the room, leading Akasha away.

Zad looks up from his book, a look of boredom on his face, "Is that so?"

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Aye. I need a vacation :D

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Sorry guys, I'll try to post tonight.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

The return trip to the Cracked Mirror is uneventful. Akasha is tackled by Jessamin the moment she steps through the door, wrapped up in her arms she presses her lips to Akasha's.

Zad sits behind the counter, his feet propped up on a stool and his nose buried in a book. He glances up as you enter and nods his head before turning his attention back to his reading material. Mrogab bustles about the main room, delivering drinks and sweeping up messes. Occasionally casting angry glances at Zad, which Zad studiously ignores.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Where are you headed?

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

The warforged: light crossbow + 4 bolts, traveling cloak, backpack. Kobolds: Spears, slings, leather armor. It doesn't give a list of what if anything was in the backpack so I'm going to say 800 gp.

Lifting the bag, Silian finds that it feels almost empty. Upon opening the bag he realizes there is more to it than it seems. The bag is a Heward's handy haversack and inside you find the following:

Center pocket:
80 arrows
80 bolts
50 feet of silk rope
1 bedroll per party member
1 waterskin per party member, filled
3 days trail rations per party member

Right pocket:
1 everbright lantern
1 flint and steel
1 healer's kit
5 torches
3 sacks

Left pocket:
Letter from Lady Elaydren
3 vials of holy water
3 potions of cure light wounds
A tiny rod of blue metal, three inches in length, with a sapphire embedded at one end
1 pouch containing 150 pp
1 casket containing 500 gp
A letter of credit for House Orien and House Lyrandar to cover passage to Rhukaan Draal, depending on which route you take.

Letter in the Left Pocket:

My friends,

The object you recovered for me from the ruins beneath Sharn is a schema, a piece of a pattern used to create items both mundane and magical. I have learned that another schema connected to this pattern was being studied in a secret Cannith workshop in Cyre, called Whitehearth. I wonder if this research is tied to the Day of Mourning?

Parts of my own house seek this pattern for evil purposes, and I do not know whom to trust. So I turn to you. I need you to travel to Cyre, find the workshop, and recover the second schema.

The location of the workshop was a closely guarded secret lost when the patriarch of House Cannith died in the destruction of Cyre. You must travel to the House Cannith outpost i the town of Rose Quarry, in Darguun, to recover a record of all of Cannith's hidden workshops.

In Rhukann Draal, find a man named Failin in the Bloody Market. He can provide you with transport to Rose Quarry. From there, travel into the Mournland to find Whitehearth and the second schema. It is an adamantine plate in the shape of a diamond, about the size of a human's palm. Once you have retrieved it, return to Rhakaan Draal, where I will meet you. Succeed, and I will see to it that you are well rewarded for your courage.

Lady E.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

The remaining kobolds are easily dispatched of by the swift blades and crafty magic of the group. Lady Elaydren stands up from behind the table and pushes her hair out of her face.

"More of the assassins may show up at any moment. All the information you need is in the left pocket of the backpack. Take it and go! Get out of the city as quickly as you can!"

Elaydren rushes past you, grabbing a sword off of the fallen warforged and fleeing the building. She makes her way out to the streets and disappears into the nearest alley.

The final messenger is easily destroyed with Syksy's hit I actually don't remember what its AC was and I don't care. Sorry not sorry. Garrote swipes at a kobold and misses. Jonah makes one go splat. Two koblods remain.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Thanks for the clarification, Jonah!

A thud sounds throughout the room as Silian's thundercloud strikes out at the metal man and he drops to the ground. A moment later, a final messenger detaches itself from the warforged. Silian sinks an arrow into one of the kobolds. It hisses and curses but remains standing.

Redirecting everyone else's attacks in initiative order.

Syksy beheads another kobold while Akasha wounds another.

Elaydren nods her head in thanks to Jonah as his magic washes over her, healing her injuries.

Another kobold lashes out at Garotte.

It actually wasn't super hot and we even had some thunderstorms! Woot!

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Sorry guys, it's been a rough last couple of days involving not a whole lot of sleep and a crazed child. I'm so out of it right now. I will post tomorrow, Quip or Mark, one of you might want to message me as a reminder tomorrow afternoon/evening if you can.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

My bad, forgot to change it up top but for future reference I usually post a link when the battle begins with the initiative layout.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Concealment roll that should have been made with Syksy's attack 1d100 ⇒ 96

Jonah ... did you just cast magic weapon on Elaydren or was that a "slip of the tongue"? Also, please remember to move yourself on the map.

The second kobold next to Syksy likewise drops his sling and takes up the spear, lashing out at Syksy with the weapon.
Spear 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Damage 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

A kobold next to Garotte lunges with his spear at the warforged.

I leave it to all of you to handle your AoO. Pbp is too slow to break up my posting to give you those opportunities before finishing the actions. If an AoO changes something, I'll make note of it.

Reflex save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Damn you guys are making quick work of this battle, lol.

Elaydren hid behind a table the moment she could. She looks up at Akasha and nods her head, her eyes wide in fear and showing clearly how exhausted she is.

The final kobold lunges his spear at Garotte.

One of the kobolds decides to follow the lead of the warforged, dropping its sling and taking up its spear instead as it lunges at Syksy with the weapon.

Another kobold moves forward, staying with the first. He likewise slings a stone at Syksy.

Sling 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Garotte slams his palm into the assailant, a loud clang can be heard as metal meets metal.

"Flesh-loving warforged, you will die with the rest of the weak-fleshed errand boys!"

A third kobold lunges a spear at Garotte.

"Thank Olladra that you are here! There is no time to waste." She picks a backpack up from the floor and places it on the table. The leather is worn, but its brass fittings are still bright. It appears light, almost empty.

"There is no time to explain," Elaydren says, her fear-filled eyes darting from you to the door, and back again.

"Instructions, supplies, and gold are in this pack. Take it and go. The letter in the left-hand pocket explains everything, but you must go now! Trust me, if you can accomplish this task, the reward will be vast!" Elaydren shoves the bag at Silian, him having been the first to approach.

Suddenly the door to the street bursts open. Four kobolds leap through the door, moving in pairs. They part, going to either side of the doorway as a broad humanoid in a dark, hooded cloak enters with a light crossbow. He lifts the crossbow and launches a bolt at Elaydren, catching her in the arm.

Map

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

You make your way through the rainy streets of Sharn, hiring a skycoach to avoid the worst of it and get you to the level you need to be. You arrive at House Ghallanda run Broken Anvil, in the Mason's Tower. Everbright lanterns line the walls of the small tavern cut into a bend of the tower's wall.

Only one other person sits in the tavern when you step inside, a woman in a worn, brown cloak. She sits at the table at the far side of the room. As you enter, she lifts her hand as if to cast a spell but stops, pushing her hood back instead. Her appearance stands in stark contrast to when last you saw her, with disheveled hair and dirt smeared over her face, still you recognize her as Lady Elaydren.

Perception DC20:
She isn't even wearing her House Cannith signet ring.

A halfling matron enters from the back of the room only to be dismissed with a wave of Elaydren's hand. She beckons to you, gesturing for you to join her.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

"Yes, your name was one of those marked as the intended recipients. I - I'm sorry, I did my best to keep it from them. I wish there was something more that I could tell you, but the sender, Lady Elaydren, I'm sure she could tell you whatever the message said," she says, looking at you with big, hopeful eyes.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

"Lady Akasha d'Denieth?" she asks when she catches sight of Akasha's dragonmark.

She holds the coins in her hands, cupping them against her chest.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Oh Garotte. *sigh*

You can tell immediately that your attempts to intimidate the smaller, battered woman work. Garotte has seen the look of terror on many people before, and he's seeing it now in Rewyn's eyes. Her lips tremble and she shakes her head.

"Really, all I know is who sent it and who it was for. I'm sorry, please... please just go," Rewyn says.

"What are you doing? Leave her alone! She's been through enough. I'll call the guards, I will!" the male gnome yells at Garotte.

Akasha:
Well considering that you've recently dealt with warforged in your fights to get the schema and the Lord of Blades was mentioned at some point, you can consider it to be a pretty safe bet that it's the same people who came to steal the message sent specifically for your group from Lady Elaydren.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

"No, I didn't get a very good look at the tall one. He was wrapped up in a cloak. The kobolds on the other hand, I saw them just fine. There were four of them ransacking the place. The tall one ordered them around and they listened to whatever he told them to do without question. He had a deep, rumbling voice that was strong and threatening."

She shifts around in her chair nervously. "Yes, the message had been transcribed but you must understand that we're trained to forget a message as soon as it's transcribed. Even if I did remember anything about it, I'm sworn not to give someone's message to anyone else."

"Was there something we can help you with today? Did you have a message of your own to send, or are you expecting to receive a message?"

Akasha:
I'm at a loss as to what to tell you with your knowledge roll. Are you looking for an answer to something in particular?

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Yeah, you would have needed two rolls. But the kobold is not on paper, the kobold prints are in ink across the floor. It is something completely different that is on the paper.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Inside, a female gnome sits behind the counter, her arm wrapped in a sling and bruises show fresh on her skin. Still, she smiles and greets your warmly as you walk in.

Smashed tables have been pushed into a corner, and other tables still lay knocked over. A few others seem to have been lifted back upright but left scattered in the middle of the floor. Various bits of parchment and other debris have been swept into a pile next to the broken wood as well. Spilled ink stains the floor in several places.

"Rewyn was the only one here when it happened," he indicates the gnome behind the counter, "I believe the only thing taken was a single message. They didn't even take the gold."

The rolls you've already made for in here count.

Perception DC10:
You notice sling stones swept up into the rubble and one or two scattered about that they haven't gotten to yet.

Perception DC15:
You notice small, clawed footprints in the spilled ink. They appear to be from at least two individuals of the same humanoid species.

Perception DC20:
A piece of parchment appears to have been stepped on in the struggle. The rain-soaked foot left enough of a print behind, that even when dried it is till visible. It is a print of a larger, split-toed foot.

If you made the DC15 Perception or higher:

Survival DC15 or Knowledge (nature) DC20:
The small prints belong to kobolds.

If you made the DC20 Perception:

Survival DC15 or Knowledge (arcana) DC20:
The larger footprint belongs to a warforged.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

The gnome turns to look over his shoulder at Syksy. He scurries down off of the ladder and puts his hammer down on one of the rungs. He stops to look at Jonah with a strange expression on his face when Jonah speaks.

"Well of course I heard him..."

He turns back to look at Syksy again and says, "Hello and welcome to the House Sivis message station. Thank you, you are kind but I'm sure we'll manage. We'll have this place back in proper shape in no time."

He carefully pulls the door open, letting it lean on the wall before gesturing you inside.

"Let's get you inside where it's drier... mostly. You'll forgive the mess, won't you? We had a bit of trouble yesterday and we're still getting things cleaned up."

Silian:
You can tell that the door was kicked in and there are broken windows, but from out here there is little else to be seen.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

No one is disagreeing with Silian, so I'm assuming you're going to checkout the message station.

Jess pouts lightly, "You're leaving again? It's boring here without you. I'll be careful though, I promise."

Jessamin pulls Akasha to her and presses her lips to Akasha's.

-----
As you make your way to Barmin Tower the skies of Sharn open up once more and begin to soak you with rain. Thunder rolls in the distance when you arrive at the House Sivis message station. A rain-soaked gnome balances on a ladder outside the door, hammering uselessly at the hinges. The door hangs at an odd angle and it is clear the gnome is not helping matters.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Because there is time to if you wish to.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

OK, I left it open for you to have a couple of options here by tweaking things a little. I'm considering it early enough in the day that if you want to play through going to the message station to 'investigate' you can (but don't have to) or we can simply fast forward to the evening and you can meet with the Lady.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Once unburdened, the owl screeches once more before pushing itself off of Garotte and returning to the skies.

The Message:

Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. I left word for you at the House Sivis message station in the Barmin Tower but have since learned that there was an attack on the station, and your message stolen.

I find myself in the curious position of seeking out your aid once more. I believe that our enemies have discovered me and are closing in. Please, meet me tonight at the place we first spoke. I believe that we are all in terrible danger!

Your patron,
Lady E.

After a week filled working on your various projects, wooing your love interests, and quite possibly more group orgies the group finds themselves feeling restless.

While returning to the Cracked Mirror, an owl drops from the sky and lands on Garotte's shoulder. The smokey gray and tawny bird wears a harness, and attached to the harness is a small scroll case. The owl screeches once and then begins to preen itself from his Warforged perch.

Yeah, I will do that. I was just trying to give everyone the chance to see the post.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Thanks guys. Please feel free to bring in another DM to take over!

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

OK, so, I've decided to drop my other DM campaigns to see if I can still find some enjoyment as a DM with just this one campaign to focus on. I'm going to *try* to stick with this one since it's the oldest and has the most devoted players. That being said, I make no promises. I've been dreading resuming the games, not because of the campaigns or the players but it just stopped being fun for me at some point which is why when I was feeling most stressed by life I had to back away from them I think. Things are starting to fall back into place for me again, and life is returning to some semblance of normalcy. I've got two weeks left of this semester so I plan on resuming Angels the middle of this month once finals are done.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

I've given it a lot of thought and I'm very sorry, you guys. I've decided to cut back my DM load to just my Even Angels Weep campaign. I'm just not feeling like I'm getting much enjoyment from being a DM and I haven't for awhile. It hasn't really registered with me completely until I've taken this time off, and now with everything else that has been going on I find that when I think about resuming the games I'm filled with dread. It's not the campaigns in specific, and it's certainly not the players/characters - it's just not there for me anymore.

Just wanted to give you all an update. Some of you already know but my grandmother passed away last week. As you can imagine this has added significantly to the already rough time that I've been having. I honestly don't know when I'll return to the games, I just know that I'm not in a position to be worried about them right now. Thank you for your patience.

Ten-Penny points up the stairs again when Aðvinr asks about the bandit lord before going back into the kitchen. Lady Massalene moves into one of the bedrooms.

Machaera opens the door and finds an L-shaped table with many chairs takes up most of the floor space in this loft. A second smaller table sits near the entrance, and several windows look over the snowy grounds of the lodge. In the southwest corner, a large map hangs on the wall, opposite another door in the northeast wall.
