Magic in The Shaw is quite a bit different. For one thing there are three distinct sources of magic. Arcane, typically used by Warlocks(Wizards) and Sorcerers, is the pure untainted and destilled form of magic. It is sometimes referred to as True Magic. Scholars of the tower believe that all magic was once Arcane, and that slowly all magic is reverting back to Arcane. Divine magic, know as Gods Magic, is the remainder of what is left from the deities who created the cosmos. Finally Natural Magic, the magic of Druidic wizards, is actually the magic that exists between living things and the elements.
All magic is cast through study and formula. Clerics don't ask for miracles, they have mastered how to draw the power of the gods forth and bend it to their needs. Druids manipulate the magic that connects all things natural. And warlocks do what they have always done. Forcing the raw magic to bend the world to their wills. It's because of this deep understanding of magic that allows warlocks to cast divine spells, and Druids to cast arcane ones. All be it neither has the same skill for magic fueled by the other forces as they do with their native power.
Religion is almost extinct in The Shaw. Gods have not been actively worshiped for thousands of years. Common people often only refer to gods in their most basic forms, almost like a spirit. People often only speak of the gods when blaming them for some misfortune. Or thanking them for a turn of good luck. Such as "Thank the bear god for this good hunt", the bear god being the symbol of Phi'Shaw the patron god, and namesake of the Shaw. Only clerics and other divine casters really know the gods.
