Apologies for my absence. I'll post tonight.

Grand Lodge

"All must make sacrifice if you are to continue on your journey! Quick, the final one must make sacrifice!", he says as he gestures toward Brand.

Sorry for the delay

Grand Lodge

Sense Motive for Slaagh: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7

"Yes! Yes! Now the final sacrifice! Where is the one with the final sacrifice?!?!", he yells as he dances back and forth.

A chant echos throughout the level...

"Skraa-orm thagh...Skraa-orm thagh...Skraa-orm thagh..."

Grand Lodge

Flint, Bree, and Aldy toss their metal items into the room. A strange, invisible force yanks each piece of metal into the air straight toward the hexagonal object in the center of the room. The items stick to it along with the weapons, armor, another items.

Slaagh is hoping back and forth. He can barely contain his glee. "Quick! Now! Your friends must make sacrifice to Skraa-orm thagh!"

("Skraa-orm thagh...")

"The sacrifice is not complete until all make sacrifice!", he says to you.

Grand Lodge

Slaagh leads you through a door that you passed when he led you to the room with water.

Official boxed text:
A hexagonal, metallic structure about ten feet wide and almost twenty-five feet tall looms in the center of this high-ceilinged room, emanating a greenish-white light. All kinds of gears and armaments are stuck to its silvery sides, including dozens of weapons, shields, and pieces of armor, as well as lanterns, buckles, and tools. To the north and south of the object stand two large stone statues, each depicting a troglodyte with its arms upraised in adulation. Four copper-colored metal doors lead out of this chamber, one from each corner of the room.

Perception
Brand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Flint: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Bree: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Arkolo: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Aldy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

As soon as you walk into the room you notice a strange force pulling at your metal armor and weapons.

"Ready to make sacrifice?!?!", Slaagh says with growing excitement.

Grand Lodge

Out of town...I'll be able to post longer tomorrow.

Grand Lodge

The party heads back up to the previous level. There are quite a few pots and pans in the kitchen area. They load them into whatever packs and bags they can find and head back down to where the troglodytes are...

They find Slaagh waiting for them in the first room that they met him. He seems surprised to see them again. "You are back so soon! And with so many gifts for Skraa-orm thagh!", he says.

("Skraa-orm thagh...") you hear faintly from deeper in the troglodyte home.

"Come, come! You must make sacrifice now! Please, come!", and he leads you down the hall...

What...do you do?...

Grand Lodge

"It is very dangerous up there.", Slaagh says to Aldy. "Be careful."

"You want holy grub while is gone?"

Grand Lodge

Flint wrote:
Seeing now problem in Brand, and being of strong constitution, Flint also accepts a drink of the water. Hmmm... much better than the grub. He nods to the troglodyte, trying to respectfully slow things down. " Very soon, yes. But first, can you tell us more about Skraa-orm thagh? When did the god in the box come to you? What blessings does he give to your people?"

"Skraa-orm thagh came to us many years ago..."

("Skraa-orm thagh..."), repeat the troglodyte worshipers.

"He blesses us with food and water. Each day fresh food appears in the first room and fresh water here!"

Aldy wrote:
Depends what the sacrifice is... As long as it isn't us, I'd love to meet your God

"Oh nothing like that. The god in the box wants metal. You must make sacrifice in order to pass through to the lower levels."

Grand Lodge

Brand:
The water is clean and fresh.

Slaagh glances over at the other troglodytes. "Ahhh...it is their daily devotional to the god in the box, Skraa-orm thagh." The troglodytes echo, "Skraa-orm thagh..."

"Our god provides all that we need. Do you want to see him now and make sacrifice?", he says.

Grand Lodge

Go ahead and move your avatars to where you think your character is standing.

Grand Lodge

"You are not hungry?", Slaagh asks as he looks around at all of you. "Ahh...you are thirsty! Come!" And without waiting for an answer leads you out the door you came in and down the hall.

You pass by an open doorway (where the troglodyte stench is especially strong) and then past where the Emerald Spire passes through this level. Without stopping, Slaagh leads you through a door at the eastern end of the level.

Official boxed text:
A stone tub filled with water stands against this chamber’s western wall. Three glowing light-sticks illuminate the room. A door of copper-colored metal stands in the western wall, and passages exit the room to the north and south.

Three troglodytes are here. They are sitting in circle, chanting and hissing to each other.

The stench...

Arkolo: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Aldy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

[ooc]Bree and Brand are not feeling so well this time. Mechanically, this lasts for 1 minute. It will only come into play if combat breaks out.

Grand Lodge

Aldy wrote:

Hoo boy... gimme a sec...

After taking a minute to collect himself, Aldy will go and peer into the vat.

Kn Nature?: 1d20 + 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (11) + (1) + 9 = 21

I'm mainly interested if whatever in there will be poisonous or otherwise harmful.

If it seems safe, Aldy will reach in and eat a bite of whatever is in there.

The vat is filled with freshly ground meat, but you are not sure what kind of meat. It smells disgusting.

Flint wrote:
Flint tries to distract from his two sickened teammates. "Uh..Whatcha painting there?"

The troglodyte ignores you as he continues to paint. Slaagh steps up next to you and says, "They do not speak your language like me. I am the only one of our tribe that can understand you...other than Kargh, of course." He gestures toward the two troglodytes, "They keep our home holy for the god in the box."

Bree wrote:

Between the stench of the trogs and the disgusting looking vat of goo, Bree can't keep his stomach from churning. He tries to avoid looking at the goo but can barely believe it when Aldy tries to eat some.

"Uhg. That looks gross!"

Since we're not in round time, how do we track the 10 rounds of sickened?

It probably won't matter...probably...

Brand wrote:

Brand examines the painting seeing if he could obtain any useful information from them.

He Ignores the stench as best as he can though for long more he doesn't want to consider.

You don't glean any other information from the paintings. They all look similar to each other.

Grand Lodge

Slaagh's face turns into a massive display of teeth...it turns out though that this is how a troglodyte smiles. "Come, come...it is not far." He opens the door and beckons you to follow...

He leads you through what appears to be an antechamber of some sort (D2). You notice that there are various pictographs and writings on the walls in bright colors.

Arkolo:
The writing is in a rather primitive form of Draconic. They are religious in nature and proclaim this place to be "Godhome".

Boxed text for D2
Two light-sticks are mounted on the walls of this chamber, and every surface is adorned with crudely rendered paintings. Passages lead north and east. A short corridor in the north wall leads to a larger room. In the middle of the south wall, there is a large door made of a copper-colored metal. It glows like the light-sticks.

Without pausing, he then leads you into the larger room to the north (D3).

Boxed text for D3
This room contains a large stone vat in the middle of the eastern wall. It seems to be filled with a pasty, pink substance. Just north of the tub, a tall door made of lustrous, coppery metal leads east, and passages exit the chamber to the north and south. Three torchlike devices in the wall glow with a soft green light, as does the metal door.

There are two other troglodytes in this room. They appear to be touching up some of the pictographs on the walls. They look at you with some suspicion, then continue with their painting...

The stench...

Arkolo: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Aldy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Bree and Aldy are sickened for 10 rounds.

"See? Holy grub! Please eat! As much as you want. Our god blesses us with fresh food each day.", Slaagh says as he gestures toward the vat.

Grand Lodge

Bree wrote:
Bree looks at his fellow travelers with a fair bit of caution and skepticism before replying to the troglodyte. "Maybe you can tell us just a little bit more about the food and your god."

"Oh yes. Our god is Skraa-orm thagh, the god in the box. It is very powerful! Everyday it provides us with fresh holy grub and water! It is very good."

Flint wrote:
Flint nods to Bree. "Yes! Do you get visitors often? The people who live...lived above you were not kind folk!" The dwarf smiles wide. "Do your people... like strangers?"

"Sometimes we get visitor. Sometime nice...sometimes not so nice. But all must make sacrifice before they can pass. You want to make sacrifice? Or you want holy grub? So many wonderful things for you to see!"

Brand wrote:

"Your people has food and water provided for?" he asks feeling abit skeptical.

You have never heard of Skraa-orm thagh or anything close to "the god in the box"

Grand Lodge

"Godhome is the home of my clan. My clan people are Servants of Thagh. My name is Slaagh."

"Holy grub is things to eat, things to drink. The god gives them to us! I can take you. It is not far."

Brand...thanks for the reminder, I forgot you took a level in inquisitor. I don't think that would give you anymore information. He looks like a normal troglodyte.

Grand Lodge

I just posted in the gameplay thread.

Also, I created a document called "dice rolls" that I use when rolling saves, knowledge checks, etc. It is not complete and I'll just keeping adding to it as time moves forward. If you haven't already done so, please update your saves and skills on your character's profile. Let me know if I made a mistake on any of your bonuses.

Thanks!

Official boxed text:
The stairs descend to a small chamber of smooth, hewn stone lit by a dim greenish light from two strange, torchlike devices on the walls. A metal door with a simple latch mechanism glows with a dim green light in the middle of the north wall. The walls and ceiling are decorated with drawings and writings in bright colors. The depictions are abstract but somehow alien and disturbing.

You find you are not alone when you step into the room. A humanoid creature sitting by the door stands up when he sees you. He is a reptilian looking creature wearing brightly colored leather armor and carrying a walking stick.

He takes a step forward and bows his head slightly as he says in Common, "We welcome you to Godhome. You wish to make sacrifice now, or visit? Take holy grub maybe?"

Brand, Arkolo, Aldy:

This creature is a troglodyte.

Grand Lodge

After a well-deserved rest, the PCs make their way back to the Emerald Spire. Nothing has changed much in the various levels they have already visited...they are much quieter than when the party first visited...

Making their way down to the 4th level of the Spire an awful smell grows stronger...

Official boxed text:
An acrid, nauseating reek fills the air at the bottom of the stairs—a musky, reptilian stench.

All are able to bear it without any ill effects though.

Grand Lodge

Still working on the map and the initial post. Tomorrow (7/8) for sure. Thanks for your patience.

Grand Lodge

Awesome. Let's plan on getting started this weekend. I've prepped the next level, so I'll post something Saturday or Sunday.

One thing I'll mention...your location on this level might be a bit more important than the previous ones. :) When you state that you are moving around in your post, please try and move your avatar at the same time.

Grand Lodge

Just checking in. How is everyone doing?

Grand Lodge

Sounds good. I just uploaded one for Flint. You just have to indicate on the level 3 chronicle that you spent 2 prestige.

Grand Lodge

I just uploaded a land rush pdf for you Brand.

Let me know when you all are ready to go.

Grand Lodge

Gotcha. I just uploaded a blank copy (land_rush.pdf)

Grand Lodge

Arkolo wrote:

@GM Chronicle received but can you please upload a copy of the Land Rush chronicle sheet for Arkolo?

I missed the first level with this group so I didnt get a copy.

Now, I need to level Arkolo up.

Sure thing. It costs 2 Prestige Points each time you claim one, so I will modify your chronicle and upload it again.

Did anyone else want a Land Rush sheet for this level?

Grand Lodge

Aldy...I just fixed your PFS # and uploaded it to the share drive.

Grand Lodge

I uploaded a picture with the max item cost that you can buy with your fame score (Fame Requirement Cost.PNG).

Looks good. Will we be able to buy anything before the next level?

If so, I'd like to get a handy haversack (2000 gp), an amulet of natural armor (2000 gp), and a ring of protection (2000 gp).

Is that ok?

If so, I'll add it to this chronicle I just got since I probably won't remember to write it on the next one.

Yep. We are playing this in PFS mode, so between levels you can buy anything that your fame score allows. Anything that would heal naturally (e.g. ability damage) is healed.

Grand Lodge

Our heroes hike back to Fort Inevitable for some much earned rest...

Grand Lodge

btw...GMing that level made me a 2-star GM! Huzzah!

Grand Lodge

I am starting to upload chronicles to Google Drive. Let me know if you can't access this folder.

Aldy...your PFS number is not coming up as valid when I am reporting this session. Can you confirm your number?

Grand Lodge

Sorry for the continued delay. I'm travelling for work this week. I am still around...just wanted to check in.

Grand Lodge

I'm working on the chronicle sheets today....just keeping you all in the loop.

Grand Lodge

Hmmm...I don't mind continuing at GM. I'm playing in another game right now, so this is a nice balance. Give me a few days to get the chronicles ready and prep the next level. I live in Columbus, so I'll be at Origins for the next couple of days too.

Grand Lodge

You're welcome! I enjoyed that. I assume you all want to continue on, right? Assuming you are...me too!

Grand Lodge

"I'll talk! I'll talk!!", he screams as Bree push his head toward the claws grasping at him from the cages.

He tells you his name is Jaris Phenogian. He is a wannabe scientist who has been testing new potions on the animals in this room.

The group in this level is known as the Splinters. The woman that you met in the chapel, Tarrin Dars, was the leader. They are worshipers of Norgorber who seem to prey upon ragged groups of adventurers...either coming down from the surface or coming up from the depths of the Spire...

He mentioned there are quite a few levels. The master of the upper levels is a wizard named Klarkosh. He is an aficionado of clockwork creations...perhaps even the creator of the one you met on this level...

And we are done with this level! Can you post your PFS number in the discussion thread? I'll prep the sheets for everyone.

Grand Lodge

He stops struggling against his bonds to take a closer look at each of you. He notices the bloodstained blades and the stoney looks from each of you.

"You...you...killed her? Who are you? Wh-what you do want? I'm just doing some experiments..."

"Shut up!", he screams again at the cages.

Grand Lodge

Aldy intimidate: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17

He looks around with a crazed look in his eyes. "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!", he screams at the cages that surround the room. The animals are going crazy. The smell of fresh feces fills the air...

He looks around fearfully, "How dare you! J-j-just wait until Tarrin hears of this, then you will wish this was a murder cult!", he stutters out of the bloody face.
