I have so much going on that it is really getting ridiculous with the four kiddos and my health issues and work is going to s*!~ that I'm just getting stretched to breaking. Add to that the guilt I feel for not being able to spend the time I'd like to on this game which I am desperate to finish! I'm not really sure what to do right now. I feel really s~&~ty because I really love you guys and want to make things awesome for you. I don't want to give this up for good but I don't know what to do. Feeling totally s@*&ty. :-(

Ok so I got the results back and thankfully it's really good news. I have something called NAFLD which basically means I have a pocket of fat in my liver. In any case, I can stop freaking out so much. I just got the results so I'm going to decompress tonight and start back up tomorrow. Thanks for the well wishes and patience. So I found out why my side has been hurting. Apparently I have a 6.5 cm mass in my liver. I go for an mri tomorrow to get a better look at it but in the meantime I am trying not to freak the f@+@ out lol. In any event I will be back on tomorrow afternoon/night but am going to try and relax for today. c'est la vie I guess

Picture of what it kind of looks like. The cliffs are a little more sheer than in the picture though. Also you went over the bridge to the southeast and I moved your avtars to the right spot. The switchback trail looked like this but a rockslide made it a pretty sheer cliff.

With Rain's aid, you all manage to make your way across. It takes a little time but not much and then you are on your way. The road makes several turns before running up to the sheer cliffs. You see the ruins of what was once a switchback but it appears that a rockslide has taken the majority of it out. You stand before a 500 foot wall of solid stone, what now?

Hey guys, just a heads up, Rain will most likely be offline for a while due to a very serious family issue. She will be back when she can and in the meantime I will bot her as needed.

Horus takes off and vanishes into the sun, riding the thermals coming off of the cliff to gain height and see around. She doesn't send any calls alerting to danger but the jungle is dense and thick and the marshy area is fairly foggy so it's difficult for her to see much in those areas.

Rain leads you slowly through the jungle without incident beyond getting stung, bit, and drained of blood by what feels like every insect on the planet until coming upon an overgrown road made of large slabs of dark grey stone that leads to a large stone bridge. The bridge looks to be in disrepair and there are a few spots where the stone has fallen away, leaving large gaps. The road is 50 feet wide and 200 long across the river flowing sluggishly beneath it.

K. Engineering check: There are large sections that are not structurally sound and could give way at any moment, you suspect there is a way across and that it will hold all of your weight but you put the chances that something will go wrong with the structure while you are on it at about 25-50%

Sorry for delay everyone. Over the last 24 hours ive developed a pretty bad pain in my right side of my abdomen right under my rib cage. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon so Ill hopefully get some answers then as it won't go away. I passed out last night at 6pm and didn't wake up until time for work this morning. Anyway, im posting in a couple of minutes.

As you look at box, you find the coin fused into the lid, as if it had been embedded there since the box's creation. In addition, it seems as if the box has been locked in place upon the ship. It is impossible to move and you have the suspicion that even if you break the deck around it, it won't move a hair from where it is on the ship. It seems almost as if it is now a part of the ship and you could no more remove it than remove your own heart.

The night passes uneventfully and you wake to find the day dreary and overcast. Heavy, fat drops of rain pour down upon you as you make your way ashore on the longboat, trying as best you can to keep your possessions dry in the incessant rain. Reaching the white sand beach, several of the crew, including Sandara, Shivikah, and Fishguts, who just wanted to stretch his legs and go crabbing a bit to replenish your stores. Sandara and Shivikah stay with him to guard the boat and also to guard Fishguts from anything that might crop up.

The jungle itself looks like a solid wall of green vegetation. Twisted climbing vines, dense, suffocating undergrowth and heavy, wet air make for an unpleasant hiking experience. The jungle hugs the southern circumference of the bay and stops at a small river that comes down from a series of waterfalls, cascading down a sheer cliff. The northern section of the bay contains a mangrove swamp on it's eastern edge, changing to marshy grasslands all the way up to the cliffs.

The only other item of note is you can see the bridge that you saw from the air part of the way up the river. The bridge is sized for creatures much larger than you all, you can see that from here, but it has fallen into severe disrepair.

Sandara looks at you strangely and says What do you mean while you were gone? You never left. You went through one side of the portal and came right out the other. Are you feeling alright?

Just as Lady Dasha finishes speaking, the whole room goes utterly still. People freeze in place, a fly is perfectly still in midair, caught in a beam of sunlight. Looking around you see that the only things not frozen are you and your companions from the ship.

A bright light shines forth from behind you near the wall, a vertical line opens sideways into a brilliantly lit doorway. You feel an irresistible pull towards the doorway and begin to slowly slide towards it. It is frightening at first but then you hear the sound of waves lapping at wood and realize you are going home. Conflicted, you want to help these people but then you get the feeling that you will see them again.

Stepping through back onto the Dread Lady, you see that the dome that previously encompassed the ship is gone and the crew have continued what they were doing when you left as if nothing had happened. After a few moments you realize why that is. To them you were never gone, you stepped through the doorway and out the other side.

Thank you so much for your patience and thank you so much to Flynn for running that quest for you all. I hope the way I pulled you all back in left it in such a way that it can be picked back up again. I'll post again tomorrow but I wanted to give you all time to rp your return to the ship.

Nope, homeowners didn't cover it. Pipe collapsed in yard and so it's not covered because it didn't occur in house.

I have all the votes totalled and it looks like the consensus is to go back to the main game. I am up for doing that but Flynn did quite a bit of work on his quest so I want to make sure that is taken into account so you aren't just yanked out of the other quest with no thought to Flynn who nicely stepped up and ran when I went out.

Perhaps we could keep that game in stasis and you guys could get pulled back in or something later. Not sure, what do you all think?

Hey guys sorry for the delay, my main sewer line coming out of the house collapsed. $6000 and a 10' deep hole in my front yard later, we finally have toilets again. Memo to self, rent forever... ugh... anyway I've gotten a couple of votes but there is still two left. I am training all day tomorrow and then I should be able to make a post depending upon what the votes are. In the meantime if you have a question let me know.

im ready to get back going with my game so let's see what the group would like to do, I can pull them back to the main campaign today if they want to get back to the main game. If they want to finish what they are doing with you then that is fine also. Either way I have a way to pull them back as soon as I get a clear understanding of what the players want to do. Probably the best way to do that is for the group to send me PMs with what they want to do and we'll go from there.

Ok getting estimates on the roof. Mom is here with me in Maryland. Baby is born and growing well. Kids are back at school. 3rd surgery on ankle scheduled. a partridge is resting comfortably in a hurricane downed pear tree. So that said my oldests birthday is tomorrow and my mom is leaving on Sunday so new start is this coming monday, the 18th. At that point my mom will be gone, estimates and schedule will be gotten for roof, kids will be settled in school, and I will have killed and eaten the partridge.

Hey everyone! I need a few more days as baby boy 4 arrived 2 weeks ago. Well get back started on Tuesday after the USA labor day holiday. I've missed you guys and will share a pic of the Lil monster soon.

Np, the first was just an arbitrary date anyway. It'd more likely be after labor day if it takes that long but I doubt it.

All of a sudden a massive semi-transparent sphere surrounds your ship, it is impenetrable, but allows air to flow through. It appears out of nowhere as soon as the coin is brought below water level, at which point it jerks out of your grasp and shoots towards wherever the black stone box is held and embeds itself in what you think is the top. As soon as this happens a black stone doorway appears on the upper deck of the ship, just behind the wheel and radiates strong magic.

ok so here is whats going on. My wife is in the last few weeks of baby number 4 pregnancy and work is going insane. I need to take some time off to get my stuff in order so I can get back into the game. I'd like to make a proposal however if you would like to continue in my absence. If someone would like to try their hand at running a short one shot sort of module, just step through the doorway and you'll be taken to that module. You can also spend the time doing social RP of whatever kind you would like within the confines of the ship. You can also just take a break yourselves if you would like but I figured I'd give some options. My plan is to restart September 1st, or sooner if the baby comes early, he's due in 3 weeks but all my others came early. Whatever you guys decide is awesome with me but I thought that maybe if you guys kept things going I could provide an incentive for you. I had been planning on giving you the opportunity to get another, bigger/better ship soon. If you keep this going through rp, or doing a quick module or something like that, I will let you guys design a ship and allow each of you to design your quarters however you like with a healthy budget to do so. If getting a new ship doesn't strike your fancy then throw up ideas for what sort of reward you would like and I can see what would work. What do you think?

The coin possesses EXTREMELY powerful conjuration magic. High level Mythic magic at the least.

You manage to make it to the bay without further incident. The coin only responded that way when detect magic was cast upon it. It is a golden color but is not gold. You're not sure what kind of metal it is but it's very strange.

You take a look at the coin and see that it is extremely old, a least several hundred years, if not more. There is a stylized eye on one side and a many branched tree on the other. You don't recognize the symbols.

Seijiro begins the motions and softly sings the incantation for him to be able to see the magical emanations coming off of the coin. As soon as he completes the spell, his hands fly to his eyes and he screams in pain.

Diving into the water, you descend into the reef. Bits and pieces of the ship dot the sea bed and coral but before long you hear a bell ring from the longboat, the signal that someone has found something. After some discussion, it seems that Rajah found a strongbox, partially buried in the sand below an overhang of brain coral. With the help of Dhaavan's summoned creatures, you are able to get the strongbox up on the longboat and then back to the ship. The wreck did not contain any other items of note, nor were enemies harboring within it at this point.

Up on deck, Seijiro is able to easily pick the rather simple lock, revealing the contents within.

Work took a turn for the insane, family visited multiple times (which in my psychotic family is an event in and of itself) got sick, kids decided this week was the week to temporarily evolve into demons. You proceed out of the bay slowly, it's sheltered confines sapping a good bit of your wind. Making your way around the coastline you see several interesting features. You see a section of shoreline that is abundant with fields of kelp, that would make a good area for fishing and for utilizing the kelp for it's various uses. You hear a shout from Seijiro as he spots what looks like a shipwreck. A mess of driftwood lies scattered and broken on these rocky shoals, continually battered by the crashing waves. Seabirds roost among them, their calls eddying upon the wind.

Do you want to stop and see if there is anything to salvage or keep going?

Sort of, not in the total path but can see a good majority of the eclipse like most of the US. I'm in Baltimore.

Flynn which stone are you talking about? the box doesn't contain a stone that you know of, the box is made out of a strange stone.

You all make your way back to the ship and get it ready to move. You realize however that since it's only a few miles, you could leave the ship sheltered here in the harbor and take a longboat around to the other harbor without having to get the ship ready to sail again so soon.

If you take the ship it will be dark when you arrive at the other bay, if you take the longboat you will have at least an hour or two of light.

I wasn't waiting on you guys, I literally was either exhausted to the point of falling asleep at my computer or today was conducting an all day training session for some fairly important people in Maryland's state government. I will post an update shortly.

Flynn you would guess that the runes are used to increase the natural strength of the stone foundations and to provide a means of magical energy to the crystal at the top of the tower. The power is quite potent, well above any of your magical levels.

Opening the door, you see a circular room, dimly lit from the light from the hall you are in. Collapsed rubble fills this dusty cellar, spilling from the east and northwest walls. Dozens of pale quartz crystals lie scattered among the rocks, and several more decorate the perimeter of the room. A single carved column supports the twenty-foot high ceiling overhead. The secret door swings open the rest of the way on it's own as a voice echos from around the room.

"THE LIVING?! ... The living?! ... The Living?! ..."

From another direction the voice issues,
"WHY HAVE THEY COME?! ... Why have they come?! ... Why have they come?! ..."

From still another direction, the voice issues again, THEY MUST GET IT! ... They must get it! ... They must get it! ..."

The language is Ancient Cyclopsean. They are magical runes of strength, fortitude and protection for the foundation of the tower.

Seijiro and Horatio also sees that there is no trap but has detected a concealed door.

Inside the treasure room you find another hidden door on the opposite side from where you entered. This door leads to another hallway that leads to a blank masonry wall like the kind used in the foundations of large buildings. Arcane sigils line the stone of an unknown origin. They look similar to the symbols you saw at the top of the tower near the strange crystal. You think you may actually be at the base of the tower.

You can take the level before resting. Don't worry about it this time.
