Cruiz grew up in the hinterlands of Cheliax, thankfully far enough away from main population centers that the risk of becoming a slave was remote. His clan wandered between various areas, making a living as herders and guides, honoring the Green Faith rather than any particular deity. Druidic ability, while not common, did spring up among them every generation or so, and did so in his case.
Cruiz would eventually leave his clan, in order to learn more about and further develop his magical kinship with animals. He intends to one day return to his clan, but is in no particular hurry to do so. They are wanderers after all. He is just wandering a bit farther afield than most.
