I have run 4 games of AoW and none of the bad guys have been killed. There has been battles and the PCs have won them all but the bad guys always escapes to fight another day. I'm not defending the NPCs in any special way but either the PCs just let them go or the bad guys got real lucky on rolls. When they fought Filge the fight almost emediatly turned against the necromancer and so I had him, in a momment of desperation jump through the window, relying on his false life hit points to save him from the fall. They also have tangled with Kullens gang but so far no one has been killed. Right now Smenk and Filge are using one of the PCs father as a bargining chip to get back Filges spellbook and also as a means to force the PCs to confront the cult. My game is starting to look like a chess game between the varios factions vrs a typical hack'n'slash will solve anything approach. I have plans for Filge but at this point the PCs have no illusions about this guy so him betraying them would be expected.

Gift horse..... mouth.... atleast they are keeping us updated... not pulling something like my girlfriend saying "not tonight... I have a headache"...

My wife always says "Don't punch a gift horse in the mouth." Which I guess would perhapse a bit more rude than looking a gift horse in the mouth.

She also says "The grass on the other side of the fence still has to be mowed"...and something about "Not counting your chinkens while you are still sitting at the table".

I bet the Trojans wished they looked one in the mouth;)

I wouldn't allow the syringe to overcome DR unless it possessed the proper material/enchantment/alignment combo, and I'd make it a melee touch attack that provokes an attack of opportunity. One could also use it in a grapple, making for some pretty intense moments. The whole thing would look pretty cinematic.
N'Wah, I think that making the delivery a melee touch attack that provokes an AoO is a good call. The cinematic possibilities are definitely fun. I don't think that a syringe itself would do more than 1 point of damage...unless you really tried to make the injection hurt with violent movement or something (which is where the +Str might come in). After all, syringe's are supposed to be designed to cause as little physical damage as possible, aren't they? And we're talking about a very thin, weak tube of metal, so being overly forceful will risk bending the needle and making it practically useless for delivering the potion.

I was a medic in the Navy and one thing I learned is that a needle can cause a lot of tissue dmg. Not hurting the patiant is about techniqe and if you do it wrong you could tear a muscle or bust a vein (this has happenes when a person is thrashing around and won't cooperate). A needle is still a long pointed object and if you stick the right spot you could seriously injure or kill someone. Also, only recently have needles become smaller and people friendly so I would guess in a less advanced setting the needles would be longer and thicker than what is availible. Besides if you look at the illustration of Filge you can see that he has a good sized needle and syringe. Many people would start whimpering just looking at that thing coming at them. Just to illustrate a point, I have witnessed "big bad-ass marines" faint at the sight of a cm long needle.

In a buisness envirement you don't promise your customers something and not deliver and untill they actualy post SOMETHING that's what they are doing. I'm running my 3rd AOW game very soon so if they delay any longer it thanks for nothing but an empty promise--the material's great but useless. This reminds me of that verse in the song "Ironic"--
"It's like a free ride when you're already late".

Concerning the merging of these gods, I'm not sure if I understand why Bane would want anything to do with two dead gods. Or is this grand conjunction out of Bane's control?

Out of his control (and he has no idea its aossibility, other than the nonsensical ramblins of a heretical cult).

--Eric

Or that he's evil and the diaboloical schemes of an apocoliptic cult are right up his alley. He'll use them to spread discord and if they happen to show that they can really do what they said, he'll have fun slaughtering the bunch of them. Aw, to be an evil god...

I have all the seasons of Buffy and Angel on dvd and a few Andromada episodes.

This sounds like an excellent idea, but unfortunatly many players are short sided and will see this as a way to "control" them rather than an opportunity for great team work and role playing. I would rather play a farmer that fit into the story and backgroud than a super freak that had to constanly justify his being there in the first place.
