Let's imagine an army that has a few clerics. If we're assuming 25HP soldiers, I'll assume 3d6 channel energy.

A 30 foot radius is more than 100 map squares so if you pack your injured together, that's 100 people regaining 10HP per channel. (An ingenious army could do it more efficiently than that, since the radius is 3 dimensional; stack your injured in layers using some kind of scaffolding and heal several times as many.) If each cleric channels 5 times a day, that's 5000 HP healed per cleric, without them resorting to spells or wands, and without spending all day queuing up to use a single magic item. It wouldn't take many clerics to heal up your whole army.

Or you could hire one 5th level witch who cures 2d8+5 hp per touch with the healing hex, that's 14 hp average. In 8 hours, the single witch could (theoretically) cure 67200 hp, or 4800 treated soldiers - no need to stack them, just let them stand close to one another.

This is not earth, and technology shouldn't automatically advance at the same pace as on earth.

Where did you get that (wrong) piece of information? Fat is about 0.94 g/cm3, muscle tissue is 1.05 g/cm3, that's a difference of 12%.

If muscle tissue weighed 8 times more than fat, it'd be at 7.5 g/cm3...

Iron is at 7.8 g/cm3. Olympic swimmers would sink like anchors if you were right.

I have been following Star Trek for about 40 years now, and I loved every incarnation of it, some more, some less. But sometimes, when I see an old episode on TV, I think to myself, "how could I ever have liked that?"
Maybe 20 years from now, I will say the same about the JJ Abrams movies, but right now, I absolutely loved the first movie, and I am totally excited about the second one.

And LazarX, I agree 100% with your spouse.

Deducting from JJs ruling, I'd say it all depends on whether the defender is aware that an invisible attacker is out there.
If the invisible rogue is able to sneak up on his unaware victim, he should get his full round attack of sneak attacks, as his opponent is flat footed. Flat footed opponents are denied their dex bonus and susceptible to sneak attacks.
If, on the other hand, the opponent knows that there is an invisible attacker around, only the first attack would be a sneak attack, followed by an "ouch!" and then an "Ah, there you are!" as the rogue turns visible.

At least this is how i'd rule it.

I have read somewhere else in these forums that teleport or dimension door wouldn't work from within a created pit, because the pit is an extradimensional space, and therefore prohibits the use of the spells.

See this is what I hate about optimization - supposedly epic encounters have to be finished in 6 seconds or something is seriously wrong.

I want a battle against a Balor to go on for rounds and rounds and more rounds. I want to have fun - as player as well as a GM.

Yes, I would guess that's the best tactics. 8 gnolls grappling together. Grapple in the first round, pin in the second, coup-de-grace in the third.

If the Fighter mows them down before they get a hold of him, the next 8 gnolls will step forward. Rinse and repeat.

I have no problem with the druid dismissing his companion and calling a different one.

However, I despise if the druid uses his companion as a meat shield and gets it killed every other combat (which happened in my campaign). That's when nature's agents start to intervene, because that is not survival of the fittest.

This is not entirely true. I read it in another thread about a week ago, and it was confirmed by one of the developers - if I remember correctly, it was James Jacobs:

Creatures with the fire subtype are immune to fire and vulnerable to cold.
Creatures with the cold subtype are immune to cold and vulnerable to fire.
But an immunity doesn't automatically bring along a vulnerability.
